RELATED APPLICATION

This application claims priority to provisional patent application U.S. Ser. No. 62/107,859 filed on Jan. 26, 2015, the entire contents of which is herein incorporated by reference.

BACKGROUND

The embodiments herein relate generally to pillows.

Prior to embodiments of the disclosed invention, pillows were designed to fit a certain individual's needs. Pillows with increased universality were sought but not found. Some other endeavors in this field include U.S. Patent Application 2014/0196214 filed by Dupre; U.S. Pat. No. 7,874,033 issued to Palmer, and U.S. Patent Application 2005/0210590 filed by DiGirolamo. Dupre, DiGirolamo and Palmer teach a pillow with chambers arranged into columns, but they do not reach a plurality of rows. Embodiments of the disclosed invention solve this problem.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF CERTAIN EMBODIMENTS

By way of example, and referring to FIGS. 1-5, one embodiment of sleeping pillow 10 that can provide various support configurations for a head and a neck of a human user. Pillow 10 comprises top panel 12 attached to central panel 14. Central panel 14 is attached to bottom panel 16. Central panel 14 can be opened with first zipper 18 attached to first zipper pull 20 at a first end. Central panel 14 can be opened with second zipper 22 attached to first zipper pull 24 at a second end.

In that regard, central panel 16 further comprises first side 26, second side 28, third side 30 and fourth side 32. First zipper 18 traverses the entire first side 26 while also traversing small portions of third side 30 and fourth side 32. Second zipper 22 traverses the entire second side 28 while also traversing small portions of third side 30 and fourth side 32.

Divider assembly 34 can be fit inside central panel 16. Divider assembly 34 further comprises horizontal panel 36 attached to first vertical panel 38, second vertical panel 40, third vertical panel 42, and fourth vertical panel 44.

First chamber 46 exists between third side 30, horizontal panel 36, first vertical panel 38, top panel 12, first side 26 and second side 28. Second chamber 48 exists between first vertical panel 38, horizontal panel 36, second vertical panel 40, top panel 12, first side 26 and second side 28. Third chamber 50 exists between fourth side 32, horizontal panel 36, second vertical panel 40, top panel 12, first side 26 and second side 28.

Fourth chamber 52 exists between third side 30, horizontal panel 36, first vertical panel 38, bottom panel 16, first side 26 and second side 28. Fifth chamber 54 exists between first vertical panel 38, horizontal panel 36, second vertical panel 40, bottom panel 16, first side 26 and second side 28. Sixth chamber 56 exists between fourth side 32, horizontal panel 36, second vertical panel 40, bottom panel 16, first side 26 and second side 28.

First covering 56 can be slid within first chamber 46. Second covering 58 can be slid within second chamber 48. Third covering 60 can be slid within third chamber 50. Fourth covering 62 can be slid within fourth chamber 52. Fifth covering 64 can be slid within fifth chamber 54. Sixth covering 66 can be slid within sixth chamber 56.

First covering 56 wraps around first padding 68. Second covering 58 wraps around second padding 70. Third covering 60 wraps around third padding 72. Fourth covering 62 wraps around fourth padding 74. Fifth covering 64 wraps around fifth padding 76. Sixth covering 66 wraps around sixth padding 78. Collectively these are “padding”.

Any of the paddings can be selected from the set consisting of: a down cluster, a cluster and feather blend, a down alternative, a shredded memory foam and any combination of these. A user may select a down cluster when requiring plush support. A user may select a cluster and feather blend when requiring plush but slightly firmer support. A user may select a down alternative when requiring firmer support. A user may select shredded memory foam when requiring optima support. Other kinds of padding and support can also be used.

In one example, for a user desiring neck support, shredded memory foam may be used as first padding 68 and fourth padding 74. In another example for a user desiring base support, shredded memory foam may be used as fourth padding 74, fifth padding 76 and sixth padding 78. In another example for a user desiring elevation support, shredded memory foam may be used as third padding 73, fifth padding 76 and sixth padding 78.
