Description
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

1. The Field of the Invention.

This disclosure relates generally to a garment or other piece of wearing apparel that can accommodate two or more persons. Specifically, it relates to a shirt, sweatshirt, hoodie, jacket or other similar type of wearing apparel sized and shaped to accommodate two or more persons simultaneously.

2. Description of Related Art.

Outdoor events are very popular in the United States and in other countries. These include sporting events that take place in the fall and winter like football and skiing. Many of these event s require the spectators to sit for two or three hours or more in inclement weather that can include rain, cold and snow. In many instances, the seating is comprised of wood or metal planking that is frequently, cold, wet, and/or hard.

In addition, patrons to these sporting events frequently attend them With a significant other. It would be advantageous for these type of people to be able to stay warmer by sharing their body warmth. Currently, this is accomplished by wrapping in blankets. However, because blankets are not form fitting, the wearers must generally use at least hand to hold the blanket together at the front to keep it from falling off. Hence, a form fitting piece of clothing that could fit two wearers would be an advantage over blankets in keeping two people warm at an outdoor event. In addition, it might appear more romantic to some people to be able to share one large piece of clothing that they could both fit into.

In addition, in certain cold weather survival situations, it would enhance people's chances of survival if they had access to garments that allowed them to share body heat.

Thus, it would be useful if a garment existed that could be used by two or even more persons at sporting events in order to stay warmer and more comfortable by sharing body heat. It would also be useful if the garment was long enough to cover part of the wearers' legs as when they are seated. It would also be useful if the garment possessed a waterproof or water resistant material at the back to help insulate the wearers from wet or cold stadium seating. Finally, it would be useful if the garment possessed qualities that made it useful in survival situations.

It is thus an object of this invention to provide a piece of wearing apparel that can accommodate at least two people.

It is also an object of this invention to cover part of the wearers' legs as when they are seated.

It is also an object of this invention to provide a waterproof or water resistant material to help insulate the wearers from wet or cold stadium seating.

Finally, it is an object of this invention to provide a garment that possesses qualities that make it useful in survival situations.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

This disclosure relates generally to a piece of clothing that can be worn by at least two people at the same time. Specifically, it relates to an insulated type of wearing apparel that is sized and shaped to accommodate at least two wearers. It is an illustrative embodiment of the present invention to provide a hooded sweatshirt type garment that can accommodate two people at a cold weather outdoor event. In the embodiment described herein, this garment is designed to be long enough to cover a portion of the wearers' legs when they are seated. The garment also has a waterproof fabric that protects the wearers from cold or wet seat.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION

At the outset, it should be appreciated that like drawing numbers on different views identify identical structure elements of the disclosure. While the present disclosure is described with respect to what is presently considered to be exemplary embodiments, it is understood that the disclosure is not limited to the disclosed embodiments.

Furthermore, it is understood that this disclosure is not limited to the particular methodology, materials and modifications described and as such may, of course, vary. It is also understood that the terminology used herein is for the purpose of describing particular aspects only, and is not intended to limit the scope of the present disclosure, which is limited only by the appended claims.

Unless defined otherwise, all technical and scientific terms used herein have the same meaning as commonly understood to one of ordinary skill in the art to which this disclosure belongs. Although any methods, devices or materials similar or equivalent to those described herein can be used in the practice or testing of the disclosure, the preferred methods, devices, and materials are now described.

In accordance with one embodiment of the present invention, FIG. 1 depicts a perspective view of a two person garment [10] comprising a body covering [14]. The garment [10] is sized and shaped to accommodate two persons and comfortably. The garment [10] comprises at least two neck openings [18]. The said neck openings [18] are spaced a sufficient distance apart to provide each user comfortable access to one neck opening [18] when two users are using the garment [10]. This embodiment envisions a plurality of sizes for the garment [10] so that users of various sizes can use the garment [10] comfortably by choosing a sized that corresponds to their body type.

The garment [10] also comprises at least two hoods [22], with each hood [22] located above each neck opening [18]. As depicted in this embodiment, each hood [22] possesses a draw string [24] to allow the hood [22] to be snugged around the user's head. The garment [10] also possesses two arm holes [26], with each arm hole [26] located on opposite sides of the garment [10] just below the shoulder of the garment [10]. Each arm hole [26] possesses a sleeve [30] affixed to it that is sized and shaped to accommodate one arm of the wearers, the idea being that the opposite arm of each wearer will have access to one arm hole [26], while the arms of the wearers that are c:losest together will be under the garment [10]. In this embodiment, the arms each possess draw strings [32] at their distal ends to allow the ends of the strings to be snugged around the users wrists.

The garment [10] is open at the bottom [35] to allow the wearers legs to protrude and is sufficiently long to cover at least part of the wearers' legs when the wearers are seated.

, Turning now to FIG. 2, the garment [10] comprises a waterproof covering [36] on the back side locate so that when the wearers are seated, the waterproof covering [36] is in contact with the seats in which the wearers are sitting. As depicted in FIG. 2, the garment [10] also comprises a waterproof covering [36] on the back side a reinforced padding on the back side.

Returning to FIG. 1, the garment [10] comprises a zipper opening [60] located approximately below each neck opening [18]. These zipper openings [60] do not extent all the way to the bottom of the garment [10] but are designed to allow each use to step into the garment [10] from the top, bring the shoulder of the garment [10] over the user's shoulder and then secure the garment [10] by zipping up the zipper [64]. The garment [10] also comprises a plurality of pockets [66] for storing items as well as for inserting the users free hands in order to keep them warm.

The garment [10] may be made of cotton, wool, nylon, rayon, polar fleece or any other fabric from which wearing apparel is commonly made.

FIG. 3 depicts an embodiment of the garment [10] in which a waterproof covering [36] is paired with the garment [10] as an accessory. This covering is sized and shaped to cover the hood [22], body and arms of the garment [10]. When not in use, the covering is stored in a pocket [40] in the garment [10] designed for that purpose.

In an alternative embodiment, depicted in FIG. 4, the garment [10] is sufficiently long to cover the legs and feet of each user. The garment [10] has a zipper at the bottom [44] opening that allows the bottom opening to be closed. This design allows the garment [10] to be used as a two person sleeping bag that would be especially useful in survival situations.

FIG. 5 depicts a body covering system for a plurality of people. The essential using of this body covering system comprises at least two jackets, one of which [48] is shown in FIG. 5. Each of the jackets [48] is sized and shaped to fit an Individual wearer. Each jacket [48] possesses a zipper [50] on both front and back extending from the shoulder [54] all the way to the bottom [58] of the jacket [48] such that when both front and back zippers are unzipped, one side of the jacket, including the arm [68] is removed, leaving the jacket completely open at the side.

Each zipper [50] of one jacket is capable of being zipped to the side zipper [50] of the other jacket as depicted in FIG. 6, such that the wearers are essentially sharing one jacket. Such a system would be useful in cold weather survival situations where the ability to share and maintain a common body warmth could mean the difference between life and death.

A center section [70] could be inserted between the two jackets [48] as depicted in FIG. 7 to provide increased space to the wearers or to provide room for a third person. Any number of center sections could be added to the systems to accommodate additional users.
