APPARATUS INCLUDES MAGNET ASSEMBLY MOUNTED TO GARMENT

An apparatus is for a user. The apparatus includes (and is not limited to) a garment configured to be worn by the user. The garment is positionable in a hung position. The apparatus also includes a magnet assembly operatively mounted to the garment. This is done in such a way that the magnet assembly aligns portions of the garment once the garment is removed from the user and the garment is positioned in the hung position.

TECHNICAL FIELD

Some aspects generally relate to (and are not limited to) an apparatus including a garment and a magnet assembly mounted to the garment (and method therefor).

BACKGROUND

Garments and garment-storage devices are known.

SUMMARY

It will be appreciated that there exists a need to mitigate (at least in part) at least one problem associated with existing garments. After much study of the known systems and methods with experimentation, an understanding of the problem and its solution has been identified and is articulated as follows:

For anyone who wears suits or dress pants on a daily basis, the problem of ensuring the hem and seams of the pant legs are aligned when the pants are hung on a clothes hanger is an annoying problem. If the pant seams are not aligned, the ironed-crease in the pant leg can be diminished and the pants can be left with unwanted wrinkles.

To address this problem, the pant wearer has to align the hems and seams by hand, often using one's chin to hold the pants in alignment, while feeding the pant legs through a clothes hanger. Often this works, but it can take some time and coordination. Compounding this problem is the fact that the task of hanging the garment (clothing item) often happens late at night or early in the morning when the individual (the user) is tired and irritable. Moreover, even if the seams are aligned perfectly, they can inadvertently shift once on the clothes hanger. This is especially true if one is traveling with their clothing in a garment bag or if the articles of clothing are moved in a closet as new articles are added or removed from the closet.

To mitigate, at least in part, at least one problem associated with existing garments, there is provided (in accordance with a major aspect) an apparatus. The apparatus is for a user. The apparatus includes (and is not limited to) a garment configured to be worn by the user. The garment is positionable in a hung position. The apparatus also includes a magnet assembly operatively mounted to the garment. This is done in such a way that the magnet assembly aligns portions of the garment once the garment is removed from the user and the garment is positioned in the hung position.

To mitigate, at least in part, at least one problem associated with existing garments, there is provided (in accordance with a major aspect) a method. The method is for operating an apparatus. The apparatus is for a user. The method includes (and is not limited to) operatively mounting a magnet assembly to a garment configured to be worn by the user. The garment is positionable in a hung position in such a way that the magnet assembly aligns portions of the garment once the garment is removed from the user and the garment is positioned in the hung position.

FIG. 1 depicts a front view of an embodiment of an apparatus 100 including a garment 102 and a magnet assembly 103.

Referring to the embodiment depicted in FIG. 1 (and to all of the FIGS.), the apparatus 100 is for a user 900. The apparatus 100 includes (and is not limited to) a combination of the garment 102 and the magnet assembly 103. The garment 102 is configured to be worn by the user 900. The garment 102 is positionable in a hung position. The hung position is depicted in FIGS. 2A, 2B, and 4.

The magnet assembly 103 is operatively mounted (either directly or indirectly) to the garment 102. This is done in such a way that the magnet assembly 103 aligns portions of the garment 102 once the garment 102 is removed from the user 900 and the garment 102 is positioned in the hung position (as depicted in FIGS. 2A, 2B, and 4). The magnet assembly 103 remedies the problem associated with aligning the portions of the garment 102 when the user 900 removes the garment 102 (for storage of the garment 102). The magnet assembly 103 may be sewn or glued into or onto a portion of the garment 102. Other methods of coupling the magnet assembly 103 may include the use of touch fasteners (also called hook-and-loop fasteners), a fabric pocket, etc.

In accordance with an embodiment, the garment 102 includes a pant 202 (also called a pair of pants) or other type of garment. The garment 102 is positionable in a hung position and/or a folded condition (such as, on a clothes hanger 902 as depicted in FIG. 2A). For the case where the garment 102 includes a pant 202 (for instance), once the user 900 removes the pant 202, the magnet assembly 103 acts to magnetically align the pant seams and/or the pant creases of the pant 202 (which are examples of portions of the garment 102). The magnet assembly 103 is configured to ensure that the pant cuffs and the pant seams are aligned once the user 900 removes the pant 202 and the pant 202 is placed in the hung position.

In accordance with an option, the magnet assembly 103 includes (and is not limited to) a combination of a first magnet device 104 and a second magnet device 106. The first magnet device 104 is operatively mounted to the garment 102. The second magnet device 106 is operatively mounted to the garment 102. The second magnet device 106 is spaced apart from the first magnet device 104.

The first magnet device 104 and the second magnet device 106 are fixedly positioned on the garment 102. The first magnet device 104 and the second magnet device 106 are magnetically attractive to each other once the garment 102 is positioned in the hung position. This is done in such a way that the first magnet device 104 and the second magnet device 106 magnetically attract each other and assist in maintaining portions of the garment 102 in a substantially flat condition while the garment 102 is in the hung position.

The first magnet device 104 and the second magnet device 106 solves the problem of garment storage (storage of the garment 102). The first magnet device 104 and the second magnet device 106 are configured to assist in alignment of the pant seams and/or the pant creases of the pant 202 (or the portions of the garment 102) once the user 900 removes the pant 202. The first magnet device 104 and the second magnet device 106 may be installed to the hem of the pant 202 to ensure that the pant creases (the pant cuffs and/or the pant seams) are aligned once the pant 202 is placed in the hung position. The first magnet device 104 and the second magnet device 106 are configured and positioned in such a way to ensure that the pant creases are aligned once the pant 202 is placed in the hung position.

By way of example, the magnet assembly 103 (or the first magnet device 104 and the second magnet device 106) may be plastic laminated. The first magnet device 104 and the second magnet device 106 may have a nickel alloy. The first magnet device 104 and the second magnet device 106 may be 23 millimeters wide and two millimeters thick. The first magnet device 104 and the second magnet device 106 may weigh about five grams to ensure that the first magnet device 104 and the second magnet device 106 are light enough to be unnoticeable by the wearer of the pant 202. It will be appreciated that the magnet assembly 103 (and any magnet described herein) may include a flexible magnetic plastic material that has no rigid component, a metal based magnet, etc.).

The first magnet device 104 and the second magnet device 106 are sized and configured to fasten the first pant leg 201A and the second pant leg 201B in alignment with each other once removed (from the user 900). The first magnet device 104 and the second magnet device 106 facilitate the aligned hanging of the pant 202 and ensure that the portions of the pant 202 (such as, the pant seams and/or the pant creases) are straight and aligned once the pant 202 is positioned in the hung position (removed from the user 900).

The first magnet device 104 and the second magnet device 106 may be sewn and/or glued into or onto the inside hem of the pant 202 at the pant seam, one on each of the first pant leg 201A and the second pant leg 201B. Of course, other methods of fastening may be used, such as touch fasteners, etc.

When the pant 202 is removed from the user 900, the first magnet device 104 and the second magnet device 106 are configured and positioned to ensure that the hem of the first pant leg 201A and the second pant leg 201B are magnetically fastened together. This arrangement has a number of benefits (related to ensuring that the pant seam and ironed crease of the first pant leg 201A and the second pant leg 201B remain aligned and straight once the pant 202 is placed in the hung position). This alignment decreases wrinkling, maintains the ironed crease in the pants 202, and facilitates quick and straight hanging of the pants 202 onto the clothes hanger 902 (depicted in FIG. 2A).

Referring to a first option for the embodiment depicted in FIG. 1, the first magnet device 104 includes a first leg-mounted magnet 204 operatively mounted (affixed) to a first pant cuff 214 of the pant 202.

The second magnet device 106 includes a second leg-mounted magnet 206 operatively mounted (affixed) to a second pant cuff 216 of the pant 202. The first leg-mounted magnet 204 and the second leg-mounted magnet 206 are magnetically attractive to each other.

The first leg-mounted magnet 204 and the second leg-mounted magnet 206 are positioned on the inside of the front pant crease 212 on respective one of the first pant leg 201A and the second pant leg 201B of the pant 202 (also called the pair of pants).

Referring to a second option for the embodiment depicted in FIG. 1, the first magnet device 104 includes a first waist-mounted magnet 304 operatively mounted (affixed) proximate to a waist band 208 of the pant 202.

The second magnet device 106 includes a second waist-mounted magnet 306 operatively mounted (affixed) to the waist band 208 of the pant 202 (or proximate to the waist band 208). The first waist-mounted magnet 304 and the second waist-mounted magnet 306 are magnetically attractive to each other.

In accordance with an option, for the case where it is desired to assist in further secured storage of the pant 202 on the clothes hanger 902, the first waist-mounted magnet 304 and the first leg-mounted magnet 204 are magnetically attractive to each other. In accordance with an option, for the case where it is desired to assist in further secured storage of the pant 202 on the clothes hanger 902, the second waist-mounted magnet 306 and the second leg-mounted magnet 206 are magnetically attractive to each other.

A fly line 210 extends from the waist band 208 between each front pant crease 212 formed on each of the first pant leg 201A and the second pant leg 201B of the pant 202. The first waist-mounted magnet 304 and the second waist-mounted magnet 306 are positioned on opposite sides of the fly line 210. A pocket line 211 is formed below the waist band 208 on opposite sides of the fly line 210. Belt loops 213 are positioned on opposite sides of the waist band 208, and the first waist-mounted magnet 304 and the second waist-mounted magnet 306 are positioned proximate to respective belt loops 213.

The first waist-mounted magnet 304 and the second waist-mounted magnet 306 are positioned (affixed) on the inside of the pant 202, at the waist band 208 of the pant 202, and this is done in such a way that each front pant crease 212 becomes aligned with each other once the pant 202 is hung (in storage, as depicted in FIG. 2A).

In view of the foregoing, there is provided a method of operating the apparatus 100. The method includes (and is not limited to) operatively mounting the magnet assembly 103 to the garment 102 configured to be worn by the user 900, and the garment 102 is positionable in the hung position in such a way that the magnet assembly 103 aligns portions of the garment 102 once the garment 102 is removed from the user 900 and the garment 102 is positioned in the hung position.

FIGS. 2A and 2B depict a perspective view and a side view (respectively) of an embodiment of the apparatus 100 of FIG. 1.

In accordance with the embodiment depicted in FIG. 2A, the pant 202 is positioned in the folded and stored condition on the clothes hanger 902. For this case, once the pant 202 is placed on the clothes hanger 902, the second leg-mounted magnet 206 and the second waist-mounted magnet 306 are positioned proximate to each other. For the case where the second leg-mounted magnet 206 and the second waist-mounted magnet 306 have sufficient magnetic attraction forces (magnetic flux density), the second leg-mounted magnet 206 and the second waist-mounted magnet 306 are attracted to each other in such a way that the waist band 208 and the first pant cuff 214 contact each other and are maintained in contact together (until separated by the user 900 of FIG. 1).

In accordance with the embodiment depicted in FIG. 2B, the pant 202 is placed in a folded state (hung by the user in the air), the first pant leg 201A positioned over the second pant leg 201B (and placed in a flat condition on a flat surface (such as, a bed mattress, etc.).

In accordance with an option, the first leg-mounted magnet 204 (not depicted in FIG. 2B) and the second leg-mounted magnet 206 may be positioned proximate to the rear pant crease 218 (also called a fold line) of each of the first pant leg 201A and the second pant leg 201B.

In accordance with another option, an instance of the first leg-mounted magnet 204 (not depicted in FIG. 2B) and an instance of the second leg-mounted magnet 206 may be positioned proximate to: (A) the rear pant crease 218 (also called a fold line) of each of the first pant leg 201A and the second pant leg 201B at a position proximate to the first pant cuff 214 (not depicted in FIG. 2B) and to the second pant cuff 216 (respectively), and (B) to the front pant crease 212 of each of the first pant leg 201A and the second pant leg 201B at a position proximate to the first pant cuff 214 (not depicted in FIG. 2B) and to the second pant cuff 216 (respectively).

FIG. 3 depicts a perspective view of an embodiment of the apparatus 100 of FIG. 1.

In accordance with the embodiment depicted in FIG. 3, the second pant leg 201B (or the first pant leg 201A of FIG. 1) of the pant 202 defines a leg opening 203 that is surrounded by the second pant cuff 216. In general terms, a magnet-mounting assembly 220 is configured to operatively mount the magnet assembly 103 to the garment 102. More specifically, the magnet-mounting assembly 220 is configured to operatively mount the second magnet device 106 to the garment 102. In accordance with the specific embodiment depicted in FIG. 3, the magnet-mounting assembly 220 is configured to mount the second leg-mounted magnet 206 to the inside section (the inside hem 205) positioned within the leg opening 203 proximate to the second pant cuff 216 of the pant 202 (and proximate to the rear pant crease 218). It will be appreciated that the magnet-mounting assembly 220 may be used with any one of the first magnet device 104, the second magnet device 106, the first leg-mounted magnet 204, the second leg-mounted magnet 206, the first waist-mounted magnet 304 and the second waist-mounted magnet 306, and the mounting device 220 is configured to mount any of these magnets to the garment 102 (or the pant 202).

FIG. 4 depicts a side view of an embodiment of the apparatus 100 of FIG. 1.

In accordance with the embodiment depicted in FIG. 4 (in which a close-up view of the pant 202 at the bottom section of the pant 202 is depicted), the pant 202 is depicted in a flattened state with both of the first pant leg 201A and the second pant leg 201B positioned one over the other in a flat coplanar arrangement. The first leg-mounted magnet 204 is positioned on the inside section of the first pant leg 201A (one of the pant legs), and the second leg-mounted magnet 206 is positioned on the inside section of the second pant leg 201B (the other of the pant legs). The first leg-mounted magnet 204 and the second leg-mounted magnet 206 are each positioned at a corner section (an inside corner section) of the first pant leg 201A and the second pant leg 201B (and underneath, below or proximate to the pant hem 217). For the case where the first pant leg 201A and the second pant leg 201B are positioned one over the other in a side-by-side flattened arrangement (as depicted), the first leg-mounted magnet 204 and the second leg-mounted magnet 206 are magnetically attracted to each other. Specifically, flat planar sections of each of the first leg-mounted magnet 204 and the second leg-mounted magnet 206 face each other in such a way that the bottom portions of the first pant leg 201A and the second pant leg 201B become magnetically coupled (magnetically attracted) to each other.

FIG. 5 depicts a side view of an embodiment of the apparatus 100 of FIG. 1.

The first pant leg 201A and the second pant leg 201B are separated from each other to better depict the position of the first leg-mounted magnet 204 and the first leg-mounted magnet 204 on the first pant leg 201A and the second pant leg 201B.

FIGS. 6A, 6B, 6C, 6D, 6E and 6F depict views of embodiments of the magnet assembly 103 of FIG. 1. FIGS. 6A and 6D depict front views. FIGS. 6B, 6C, 6E and 6F depict side views.

It will be appreciated that the first magnet device 104 is depicted in FIGS. 6A to 6F, and that the description of the first magnet device 104 in association with FIGS. 6A to 6F is equally applicable to the second magnet device 106, the first leg-mounted magnet 204, the second leg-mounted magnet 206, the first waist-mounted magnet 304 and the second waist-mounted magnet 306, and is also applicable to the magnet assembly 103.

Referring to the embodiment depicted in FIG. 6A, the first magnet device 104 forms a circular-shaped outline (if so desired). The first magnet device 104 is held in the magnet-mounting assembly 220. For instance, the magnet-mounting assembly 220 includes an envelope made of a plastic material. The magnet-mounting assembly 220 may be attached to the garment 102 (depicted in FIG. 1) by any number of ways, such as sewing, stitching, gluing, etc. The envelope has either a plastic material or a fabric material. The envelope is configured to enclose the first magnet device 104.

Referring to the embodiment depicted in FIG. 6B, the magnet-mounting assembly 220 includes a first planar layer 222 and a second planar layer 224 positioned adjacent to the first planar layer 222. The first magnet device 104 is positioned between the first planar layer 222 and the second planar layer 224.

For instance, the first planar layer 222 and the second planar layer 224 each includes a plastic sheet, and for this case, the first planar layer 222 and the second planar layer 224 are thermo-formed against each other (along the outer peripheral edge) with the first magnet device 104 positioned in the central zone of the first planar layer 222 and the second planar layer 224.

Referring to the embodiment depicted in FIG. 6C, once thermo-formed, the first planar layer 222 and the second planar layer 224 are merged along the outer peripheral edge and the first magnet device 104 is positioned in a pocket formed between the first planar layer 222 and the second planar layer 224, with the outer peripheral edge sealed (thermally sealed). In this manner, the first magnet device 104 is entrapped within the interior of the magnet-mounting assembly 220.

Referring to the embodiment depicted in FIG. 6D, the first magnet device 104 forms a square-shaped outline (if so desired). For this case, the first magnet device 104 may rest on one side of the inner pocket of the magnet-mounting assembly 220. This arrangement may improve fit with the garment 102 (such as, the inside of the hem of the pant 202, etc.). The magnet-mounting assembly 220 includes a fabric material (such as, silk, cotton, etc.).

Referring to the embodiment depicted in FIG. 6E, the first planar layer 222 includes a fabric material layer, and the second planar layer 224 includes a fabric material layer. The magnet-mounting assembly 220 is positioned between the first planar layer 222 and the second planar layer 224.

Referring to the embodiment depicted in FIG. 6F, the first planar layer 222 and the second planar layer 224 are attached together by a stitching 221 that is placed or inserted along the outer peripheral edges of the first planar layer 222 and the second planar layer 224. Once so attached, the first planar layer 222 and the second planar layer 224 (in combination once attached to each other) form a pocket configured to securely contain the first magnet device 104 therein.

FIG. 7 depicts a front view of an embodiment of the apparatus 100 of FIG. 1.

The first magnet device 104 includes the first waist-mounted magnet 304. The second magnet device 106 includes the second waist-mounted magnet 306. The first waist-mounted magnet 304 and the second waist-mounted magnet 306 are positioned to the waist band 208 of the pant 202 (underneath the pant 202 or underneath the fabric hidden from view). The first waist-mounted magnet 304 and the second waist-mounted magnet 306 are configured to facilitate alignment of the top section of the pant 202 (at the waist band 208) in such a way as to facilitate magnetic alignment of the front pant creases 212 (once the pant 202 is hung on the clothes hanger 902, as depicted in FIG. 2A).

Claims

1. An apparatus for a user, the apparatus comprising:

a garment being configured to be worn by the user, and the garment being positionable in a hung position; and
a magnet assembly being operatively mounted to the garment in such a way that the magnet assembly aligns portions of the garment once the garment is removed from the user and the garment is positioned in the hung position.

2. The apparatus of claim 1, wherein:

the garment includes: a pant, and once the user removes the pant, the magnet assembly acts to magnetically align pant creases of the pant once the user removes the pant and the pant is placed in the hung position.

3. The apparatus of claim 1, wherein:

the magnet assembly includes: a first magnet device operatively mounted to the garment; and a second magnet device operatively mounted to the garment, and the second magnet device spaced apart from the first magnet device; and
the first magnet device and the second magnet device are fixedly positioned on the garment; and
the first magnet device and the second magnet device are magnetically attractive to each other once the garment is positioned in the hung position in such a way that the first magnet device and the second magnet device magnetically attract each other and assist in maintaining portions of the garment in a substantially flat condition while the garment is in the hung position.

4. The apparatus of claim 3, wherein:

the first magnet device and the second magnet device are configured to assist in alignment of pant creases of the pant once the user removes the pant.

5. The apparatus of claim 3, wherein:

the garment includes: a pant; and
the first magnet device and the second magnet device are installed to a hem of the pant; and
the first magnet device and the second magnet device are configured and positioned in such a way to ensure that pant creases of the pant are aligned once the pant is placed in the hung position.

6. The apparatus of claim 3, wherein:

the garment includes: a pant; and the first magnet device and the second magnet device are configured and positioned to ensure that a hem of each pant leg are magnetically fastened together when the pant is removed from the user.

7. The apparatus of claim 1, wherein:

the magnet assembly is plastic laminated.

8. The apparatus of claim 3, wherein:

the first magnet device includes: a first leg-mounted magnet operatively mounted to a first pant cuff of the pant;
the second magnet device includes: a second leg-mounted magnet operatively mounted to a second pant cuff of the pant; and the first leg-mounted magnet and the second leg-mounted magnet being magnetically attractive to each other.

9. The apparatus of claim 8, wherein:

the first leg-mounted magnet and the second leg-mounted magnet are positioned on the inside of a front pant crease on respective pant legs of the pant.

10. The apparatus of claim 3, wherein:

the first magnet device includes: a first waist-mounted magnet operatively mounted proximate to a waist band of the pant; and
the second magnet device includes: a second waist-mounted magnet operatively mounted to the waist band of the pant; and the first waist-mounted magnet and the second waist-mounted magnet are magnetically attractive to each other.

11. The apparatus of claim 10, wherein:

a fly line extends from the waist band between each front pant crease formed on each pant leg of the pant; and
the first waist-mounted magnet and the second waist-mounted magnet are positioned on opposite sides of the fly line; and
belt loops are positioned on opposite sides of the waist band, and the first waist-mounted magnet and the second waist-mounted magnet are positioned proximate to respective instances of the belt loops.

12. The apparatus of claim 3, wherein:

the first magnet device includes: a first leg-mounted magnet operatively mounted to a first pant cuff of the pant; and a first waist-mounted magnet operatively mounted proximate to a waist band of the pant; and
the second magnet device includes: a second leg-mounted magnet operatively mounted to a second pant cuff of the pant; and a second waist-mounted magnet operatively mounted to the waist band of the pant; and the first waist-mounted magnet and the second waist-mounted magnet being magnetically attractive to each other; the first leg-mounted magnet and the second leg-mounted magnet being magnetically attractive to each other; the first waist-mounted magnet and the first leg-mounted magnet being magnetically attractive to each other; and the second waist-mounted magnet and the second leg-mounted magnet being magnetically attractive to each other.

13. The apparatus of claim 8, wherein:

the first leg-mounted magnet and the second leg-mounted magnet are positioned proximate to a rear pant crease of each pant leg.

14. The apparatus of claim 8, wherein:

an instance of the first leg-mounted magnet and an instance of the second leg-mounted magnet are positioned proximate to: a rear pant crease of each pant leg at a position proximate to the first pant cuff and to the second pant cuff, respectively, and a front pant crease of each said pant leg at a position proximate to the first pant cuff and to the second pant cuff, respectively.

15. The apparatus of claim 1, further comprising:

a magnet-mounting assembly being configured to operatively mount the magnet assembly to the garment.

16. The apparatus of claim 1, wherein:

the magnet assembly forms any one of a circular-shaped outline and a square-shaped outline.

17. The apparatus of claim 1, further comprising:

a magnet-mounting assembly being configured to operatively mount the magnet assembly to the garment; and
the magnet-mounting assembly includes: an envelope having a plastic material, and the envelope is configured to enclose the magnet assembly.

18. The apparatus of claim 1, further comprising:

a magnet-mounting assembly being configured to operatively mount the magnet assembly to the garment; and
the magnet-mounting assembly includes: an envelope having a fabric material, and the envelope is configured to enclose the magnet assembly.

19. The apparatus of claim 1, further comprising:

a magnet-mounting assembly being configured to operatively mount the magnet assembly to the garment; and
the magnet-mounting assembly includes: a first planar layer; and a second planar layer positioned adjacent to the first planar layer, and the magnet assembly is positioned between the first planar layer and the second planar layer.

20. A method of operating an apparatus for a user, the method comprising:

operatively mounting a magnet assembly to a garment being configured to be worn by the user, and the garment being positionable in a hung position in such a way that the magnet assembly aligns portions of the garment once the garment is removed from the user and the garment is positioned in the hung position.
