GUTTER ASSEMBLY

A gutter assembly includes a gutter that may be attached to an eave of a roof thereby facilitating the gutter to capture a fluid from the roof. The gutter has a bottom side and the bottom side is positionable in an open position. Thus, the bottom side releases debris from the gutter thereby facilitating the gutter to be cleaned of the debris. A cord is attached to the bottom side such that the cord may be urged downwardly thereby positioning the bottom side in the open position.

BACKGROUND OF THE DISCLOSURE

Field of the Disclosure

The disclosure relates to gutter devices and more particularly pertains to a new gutter device for selectively releasing debris from the gutter.

Summary of the Disclosure

An embodiment of the disclosure meets the needs presented above by generally comprising a gutter that may be attached to an eave of a roof thereby facilitating the gutter to capture a fluid from the roof. The gutter has a bottom side and the bottom side is positionable in an open position. Thus, the bottom side releases debris from the gutter thereby facilitating the gutter to be cleaned of the debris. A cord is attached to the bottom side such that the cord may be urged downwardly thereby positioning the bottom side in the open position.

There has thus been outlined, rather broadly, the more important features of the disclosure in order that the detailed description thereof that follows may be better understood, and in order that the present contribution to the art may be better appreciated. There are additional features of the disclosure that will be described hereinafter and which will form the subject matter of the claims appended hereto.

The objects of the disclosure, along with the various features of novelty which characterize the disclosure, are pointed out with particularity in the claims annexed to and forming a part of this disclosure.

DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENT

With reference now to the drawings, and in particular to FIGS. 1 through 5 thereof, a new gutter device embodying the principles and concepts of an embodiment of the disclosure and generally designated by the reference numeral 10 will be described.

As best illustrated in FIGS. 1 through 5, the gutter assembly 10 generally comprises a gutter 12 that has a first end 14, a second end 16 and a peripheral wall 18 extending between the first end 14 and the second end 16. The peripheral wall 18 has a rear side 20, a front side 22 and a bottom side 24. The rear side 20 has a bottom edge 26 and a rear surface 28 and the front side 22 has a back surface 30. The front side and the rear side are spaced apart such that the gutter 12 may receive a fluid 32 and the fluid 32 may be water. The second end 16 is open such that the second end 16 may release the fluid 32 from the gutter 12. The gutter 12 may be attached to an eave 34 of a roof 36 thereby facilitating the gutter 12 to capture the fluid 32 from the roof and the gutter 12 may have any ornamental appearance.

The bottom side 24 has a first edge 38 and a second edge 40 and a hinge 42 is coupled between the first edge 38 and the bottom edge 26 of the rear side 20. Thus, the first edge 38 is hingedly coupled to the bottom edge 26. The bottom side 24 is positionable in a closed position having the bottom side 24 extending between the rear side 20 and the front side 22. The second edge 40 engages the back surface 30 of the front side 22 when the bottom side 24 is positioned in the closed position. Thus, the second edge 40 forms a fluid impermeable seal with the back surface 30 thereby facilitating the bottom side 24 to retain the fluid 32 within the gutter 12.

The bottom side 24 is positionable in an open position having the bottom side 24 extending downwardly from the rear side 20. Thus, the bottom side 24 may release debris 44 that has collected in gutter 12 thereby facilitating the debris 44 to be cleaned from the gutter 12. The debris 44 may be leaves, twigs or other material that becomes deposited on the roof 36. The hinge 42 may be a spring loaded hinge or the like such that the bottom side 24 is biased into the closed position.

A plurality of fasteners 46 is provided. Each of the fasteners 46 has a first section 48 extending downwardly from a central section 50 and a second section 52 extending upwardly from the central section 50. The first section 48 is spaced from the second section 52 and the first section 48 of each of the fasteners is attached to the rear surface 28 of the rear side 20. Thus, the second section 52 of each of the fasteners 46 may engage the eave 34 of the roof 36 thereby retaining the gutter 12 on the roof 36. The fasteners 46 are spaced apart from each other and distributed between the first end 14 and the second end 16.

A cord 54 is attached to the bottom side 24 such that the cord 54 may be urged downwardly thereby positioning the bottom side 24 in the open position. The cord 54 has a distal end 56 with respect to the bottom side 24 and the distal end 56 has a grip 58 that is attached thereto. The grip 58 enhances gripping of the cord 54.

In use, the grip 58 on the cord 54 is gripped and the cord 54 is urged downwardly to position the bottom side 24 in the open position. Thus, any debris 44 that has collected in the gutter 12 is released from the gutter 12 without the need to mount the roof 36 and manually remove the debris 44 from the gutter 12. The cord 54 is released and the hinge 42 biases the bottom side 24 into the closed position.

With respect to the above description then, it is to be realized that the optimum dimensional relationships for the parts of an embodiment enabled by the disclosure, to include variations in size, materials, shape, form, function and manner of operation, assembly and use, are deemed readily apparent and obvious to one skilled in the art, and all equivalent relationships to those illustrated in the drawings and described in the specification are intended to be encompassed by an embodiment of the disclosure.

Therefore, the foregoing is considered as illustrative only of the principles of the disclosure. Further, since numerous modifications and changes will readily occur to those skilled in the art, it is not desired to limit the disclosure to the exact construction and operation shown and described, and accordingly, all suitable modifications and equivalents may be resorted to, falling within the scope of the disclosure. In this patent document, the word “comprising” is used in its non-limiting sense to mean that items following the word are included, but items not specifically mentioned are not excluded.

A reference to an element by the indefinite article “a” does not exclude the possibility that more than one of the element is present, unless the context clearly requires that there be only one of the elements.

Claims

1. A gutter assembly having a trap door wherein said assembly is configured to selectively dump debris through said trap door, said assembly comprising:

a gutter being configured to be attached to an eave of a roof thereby facilitating said gutter to capture a fluid from the roof, said gutter having a peripheral wall having a bottom side, said bottom side having a first edge and a second edge, said first edge of said bottom side being hingedly coupled to a bottom edge of a rear side of said peripheral wall extending a full length between a first end and a second end of said gutter, said bottom side being positionable in an open position wherein said bottom side is configured to release debris from said gutter thereby facilitating said gutter to be cleaned of the debris; and
a cord being attached to said bottom side wherein said cord is configured to be urged downwardly thereby positioning said bottom side in said open position.

The assembly according to claim 1, further comprising said peripheral wall extending between said first end and said second end, said peripheral wall having a front side and a rear surface, said front side having a back surface, a top side of said peripheral wall being open wherein said top side is configured to receive the fluid, said second end being open wherein said second end is configured to release the fluid, said gutter being substantially hollow.

The assembly according to claim 2, said bottom side being positionable in a closed position having said bottom side extending between said rear side and said front side, said second edge engaging said back surface of said front side when said bottom side is positioned in said closed position such that said second edge forms a fluid impermeable seal with said back surface wherein said bottom side is configured to retain the fluid within said gutter.

4. The assembly according to claim 1, further comprising a plurality of fasteners, each of said fasteners having a first section extending downwardly from a central section and a second section extending upwardly from said central section, said first section being spaced from said second section.

5. The assembly according to claim 4, wherein:

said rear side having a rear surface; and
said first section of each of said fasteners being attached to said rear side, each of said fasteners being positioned on said rear surface of said rear side wherein said second section of each of said fasteners is configured to be engaged to the eave of the roof by an extrinsic connector to retain said gutter on the roof, said fasteners being spaced apart from each other and distributed between said first end and said second end.

6. The assembly according to claim 1, wherein said cord has a distal end with respect to said bottom side, said distal end having a grip being attached thereto.

7. A gutter assembly having a trap door wherein said assembly is configured to selectively dump debris through said trap door, said assembly comprising:

a gutter having a first end, a second end and a peripheral wall extending between said first end and said second end, said peripheral wall having a rear side, a front side and a bottom side, said rear side having a bottom edge and a rear surface, said front side having a back surface, said front side and said rear side being spaced apart wherein said gutter is configured to receive a fluid, said second end being open wherein said second end is configured to release the fluid, said gutter being configured to be attached to an eave of a roof thereby facilitating said gutter to capture the fluid from the roof, said bottom side having a first edge and a second edge, said first edge of said bottom side being hingedly coupled to said bottom edge of said rear side along a full length of said peripheral wall between said first end and said second end of said gutter, said bottom side being positionable in a closed position having said bottom side extending between said rear side and said front side, said second edge engaging said back surface of said front side when said bottom side is positioned in said closed position such that said second edge forms a fluid impermeable seal with said back surface wherein said bottom side is configured to retain the fluid within said gutter, said bottom side being positionable in an open position having said bottom side extending downwardly from said rear side wherein said bottom side is configured to release debris from said gutter thereby facilitating said gutter to be cleaned of the debris, said bottom side being biased into said closed position;
a plurality of fasteners, each of said fasteners having a first section extending downwardly from a central section and a second section extending upwardly from said central section, said first section being spaced from said second section, said first section of each of said fasteners being attached to said rear surface of said rear side wherein said second section of each of said fasteners is configured to be engaged to the eave of the roof by an extrinsic connector to retain said gutter on the roof, said fasteners being spaced apart from each other and distributed between said first end and said second end; and
a cord being attached to said bottom side wherein said cord is configured to be urged downwardly thereby positioning said bottom side in said open position, said cord having a distal end with respect to said bottom side, said distal end having a grip being attached thereto.
