Selected ones of the cards are positionable in a selected one of the rectangles.

There has thus been outlined, rather broadly, the more important features of the disclosure in order that the detailed description thereof that follows may be better understood, and in order that the present contribution to the art may be better appreciated. There are additional features of the disclosure that will be described hereinafter and which will form the subject matter of the claims appended hereto.

The objects of the disclosure, along with the various features of novelty which characterize the disclosure, are pointed out with particularity in the claims annexed to and forming a part of this disclosure.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS

The disclosure will be better understood and objects other than those set forth above will become apparent when consideration is given to the following detailed description thereof. Such description makes reference to the annexed drawings wherein:

FIG. 1 is a perspective view of a cribbage game board according to an embodiment of the disclosure.

FIG. 2 is a top view of an embodiment of the disclosure.

FIG. 3 is a top perspective view of an embodiment of the disclosure.

FIG. 4 is a schematic view of a point system of an embodiment of the disclosure.

DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENT

With reference now to the drawings, and in particular to FIGS. 1 through 4 thereof, a new cribbage device embodying the principles and concepts of an embodiment of the disclosure and generally designated by the reference numeral 10 will be described.

As best illustrated in FIGS. 1 through 4, the cribbage game board 10 generally comprises a deck of cards 12. The cards 12 may be playing cards used in the convention of the game of cribbage or the like. A board 14 is provided that has a top surface 16 and the top surface 16 has a plurality of rectangles 18 printed thereon. The rectangles 18 are spaced apart from each other and are distributed on the top surface 16. The rectangles 18 are arranged into a plurality of columns 20 and rows 22 and each of the columns 20 and rows 22 may comprise at least five of the rectangles 18. The plurality of rectangles 18 includes a center one 24 of the rectangles 22 and a set of intersection ones 26 of the rectangles 22.

The top surface 16 has a pair of lines 28 printed thereon. Each of the lines 28 extends between an associated pair of four corners 30 of the board 14. The lines 28 intersect each other in the center rectangle 24 thereby facilitating the lines 28 to form an X-shape. The board 14 has a diamond 32 printed thereon and the diamond 32 surrounds the center rectangle 24. Each of the set of intersection rectangles 26 is aligned with an associated intersection of the lines 28 and each of four sides of the diamond 32. Each of the set of intersection rectangles 26 and the center rectangle 24 has a color that is distinct from remaining ones of the rectangles 18. Selected ones of the cards 12 are positionable in a selected one of the rectangles 18 in the convention of the game of cribbage.

A score card 34 is provided and the score card 34 has indicia 36 printed thereon. The indicia 36 comprise a plurality of lines 38 that are spaced apart from each other to define a plurality of columns 40. The indicia 36 further comprise words 42 to assign each of the columns 40 to a player. The columns 40 are utilized to record points scored on each individual cribbage hand played and to record the total points scored in the game of cribbage.

In use, four types of game play in the convention of the game of cribbage are facilitated by the board 14. In a first type of game play the cards 12 are shuffled and each player selects a card to be positioned in a selected one of the rectangles 18. Each player decides if they will attempt to build points by arranging the cards 12 in the rows 22 or in the columns 20 on the board 14. The cards 12 are positioned on the board 14 until each rectangle 18 has a card 12 positioned in the rectangle 18. Each player adds the points scored in the convention of the game of cribbage in accordance with the arrangement of the cards 12 chosen by each player with respect to the rows 22 or columns 20.

In a second type of game play the cards 12 are shuffled and a selected one of the cards 12 is placed face-down in the center rectangle 24. The game is further played in according with the rules of the first type of game play. After all of the rectangles 18 has a card 12 placed thereon, the card 12 on the center rectangle 24 is flipped to be face up. Each player adds the points scored in the convention of the game of cribbage in accordance with the arrangement of the cards 12 chosen by each player with respect to the rows 22 or columns 20.

In a third type of game play the cards 12 are shuffled and selected ones of the cards 12 is placed face down in the center rectangle 24 and each of the set of intersection rectangles 26. The game is further played in according with the rules of the first type of game play. After all of the rectangles 18 has a card 12 placed thereon, the card 12 on the center rectangle 24 and the set of intersection rectangles 26 are flipped to be face up. Each player adds the points scored in the convention of the game of cribbage in accordance with the arrangement of the cards 12 chosen by each player with respect to the rows 22 or columns 20.

In a fourth type of game play, the game is played in accordance to the rules of the first type of game play. Each of the players may chose to place a card over a card that has already been placed on the board as long as there are uncovered rectangles on the board. After all of the rectangles have been covered each player adds the points scored in the convention of the game of cribbage in accordance with the arrangement of the cards chosen by each player with respect to the rows or columns.

In a fifth type of game play, the game is played in accordance to the rules of the first type, the second type, the third type or the fourth type of game play. After all of the rectangles 18 have been covered with a card 12 each player adds the points scored in the convention of the game of cribbage in accordance with the arrangement of the cards 12 chosen by each player with respect to the rows 20 or columns 22. The player that chooses to build points utilizing the columns 22 may build points using the cards 12 that are positioned on each of the lines 28. The player that chooses to build points utilizing the rows 20 may build points using the cards 12 that are positioned on the diamond 32.

With respect to the above description then, it is to be realized that the optimum dimensional relationships for the parts of an embodiment enabled by the disclosure, to include variations in size, materials, shape, form, function and manner of operation, assembly and use, are deemed readily apparent and obvious to one skilled in the art, and all equivalent relationships to those illustrated in the drawings and described in the specification are intended to be encompassed by an embodiment of the disclosure.

Therefore, the foregoing is considered as illustrative only of the principles of the disclosure. Further, since numerous modifications and changes will readily occur to those skilled in the art, it is not desired to limit the disclosure to the exact construction and operation shown and described, and accordingly, all suitable modifications and equivalents may be resorted to, falling within the scope of the disclosure. In this patent document, the word “comprising” is used in its non-limiting sense to mean that items following the word are included, but items not specifically mentioned are not excluded.

A reference to an element by the indefinite article “a” does not exclude the possibility that more than one of the element is present, unless the context clearly requires that there be only one of the elements.
