UNISEX ARTICLE OF CLOTHING

Abstract

A present disclosure includes a unisex and one-size-fits-all article of clothing that includes a wearable cloth having a length suitable to extend around the torso of a human body. The first end of the wearable cloth is coupled to a second end of the wearable cloth when the wearable cloth is donned on a human body. A fastening device may be coupled to the first end and the second end of the wearable cloth. The unisex and one-size-fits-all article of clothing may be implemented as a sarong or lungi as described herein. The article of clothing may also include one or more built-in pockets, a privacy screen, and a fastening device.

Description

FIELD

Embodiments described herein generally relate to clothing and in particular to enhancements to traditional garments worn by men and women in South and Southeast Asia.

BACKGROUND

Traditional garments worn by men and women in South and Southeast Asia, such as a sarong or lungi, typically consists of a wearable cloth that has a sufficient length to wrap around a human's torso. These garments may be donned in a way that covers a human's sexual or reproductive organs. For example, a woman may wear these garments such that they extend from above a woman's bust down to the woman's knees. a man or woman may wear these garments such that they extend from the wearer's waist down to the man or woman's knees or ankles.

These traditional garments have been worn by men and women for thousands of years. These garments are easy to manufacture because they are generally made with a single (rectangular) piece of fabric. However, these garments have their limitations. For example, they often require skill and practice to tie ends of the garments together to prevent the garments from falling off one's body. Children and elderly people have difficulty tying traditional “lungi knots,” of this traditional daily wear.

These garments require constant adjusting to keep them donned correctly on a person's body. In addition, many of these garments lack basic features. For example, they lack the ability to carry items therein, obstruct the view of a person's sexual or reproductive organs, or lack the means to prevent the garment from falling off the person's body. The present disclosure addresses these needs.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PRESENT DISCLOSURE

A detailed description of some embodiments is provided below along with accompanying figures. The detailed description is provided in connection with such embodiments, but is not limited to any particular example. The scope is limited only by the claims and numerous alternatives, modifications, and equivalents are encompassed. Numerous specific details are set forth in the following description in order to provide a thorough understanding. These details are provided for the purpose of example and the described techniques may be practiced according to the claims without some or all of these specific details. For the purpose of clarity, technical material that is known in the technical fields related to some embodiments have not been described in detail to avoid unnecessarily obscuring the description.

FIG. 1 is a sarong 101 with enhancement features donned on a male manikin 100 provided by the present disclosure in accordance with an embodiment of the present disclosure. As known in the art, a sarong 101 may comprise a wearable cloth which has a length suitable to extend around the torso of a human body. In one or more embodiments, sarong 101 may be stitched at both ends of the cloth such that the sarong 101 extends around a person's waist or bust. However, it should be understood that the present disclosure is not limited thereto.

The wearable cloth of sarong 101 may include any of various materials such as, but not limited to, silk, cotton, sweat-wicking, ultraviolet, linen, polyester, poplin, rayon, nylon, satin, spandex, moisture wick fabrics, UPF/SPFF protective fabrics, elastic material, or a combination of the aforementioned materials.

Sarong 101 has a plurality of enhancement features which add to the garment's comfort, functionality, and ease of use. For example, sarong 101 includes a fastening device 102, pocket 103, and privacy screen 104 as will be further described below. In one or more embodiments, the aforementioned elements are aligned along a vertical axis providing a reference point for the wearer.

Fastening device 102 may allow the sarong 101 to stay fitted on a person's body to prevent the sarong 101 from falling off when worn. Pocket 103 may be integrated within the sarong 101 to allow a person to hold and maintain items therein. Privacy screen 104 may be employed to obstruct the view of sexual or reproductive human organs. For example, in the embodiment shown, privacy screen 104 is used to obstruct the view of a male's reproductive organs.

FIG. 2 is a sarong 201 with enhancement features donned on a female manikin 200 in a first position provided by the present disclosure in accordance with an embodiment of the present disclosure. In particular, sarong 201 is fitted along the waistline as illustrated in the figure. Accordingly, in the first position, the sarong 201 may be worn to cover the portion of one's (e.g., female's) body from the waist down. Sarong 201, in the embodiment shown, may include a fastening device 202, pocket 203, and privacy screen 204.

FIG. 3 is a sarong 301 with enhancement features donned on a female manikin 300 in a second position provided by the present disclosure in accordance with an embodiment of the present disclosure. Sarong 301 includes the features previously described—fastening device 302, privacy screen 304, and pocket 305. Advantageously, the sarong 301 may extend from the top of a woman's bust. As such, sarong 301 may be worn in one of two positions—extending from the waist or from the top of a woman's bust.

It should be understood by one having ordinary skill in the art that the sarongs disclosed in FIGS. 1-3 are gender neutral and therefore may be worn by both men and women (i.e., unisex). Moreover, the sarongs disclosed in FIGS. 1-3 are one-size-fits-all articles of clothing (e.g., for kids and adults).

FIG. 4 is a lungi 401 with enhancement features donned on a male manikin 400 in accordance with an embodiment of the present disclosure. Lungi 401 may consist of a wearable cloth that has a first end 410a and a second end 410b that may be coupled together via a fastening device 402 when the lungi 401 is donned on a human body. Most notably, lungi 401 includes enhancement features such as, but not limited to, fastening device 402, first pocket 403, privacy screen 404, and second pocket 405.

The wearable cloth of lungi 101 may include any of various materials such as, but not limited to, silk, cotton, sweat-wicking, ultraviolet, linen, polyester, poplin, rayon, nylon, satin, spandex, moisture wick fabrics, UPF/SPF protective fabrics, elastic material, or a combination of the aforementioned materials.

FIG. 5 is a lungi 501 with enhancement features donned on a female manikin 500 in a first position provided by the present disclosure in accordance with an embodiment of the present disclosure. Lungi 501 also includes enhancement features—fastening device 502, first pocket 503, privacy screen 504, and second pocket 505.

FIG. 6 is a lungi 601 with enhancement features donned on a female manikin 600 in a second position in accordance with an embodiment of the present disclosure. Lungi 601 includes the features previously described—fastening device 602, privacy screen 604, and pocket 605. Advantageously, the lungi 601 may extend from the top of a woman's bust. As such, lungi 601 may be worn in one of two positions—extending from the waist or from the top of a woman's bust.

It should be understood by one having ordinary skill in the art that the terms “sarong” or “lungi” may be used interchangeably. However, herein a “sarong” refers to an embodiment when the article of clothing includes stitching to couple two ends of the wearable cloth together to form a loop. Contrariwise, herein a “lungi” refers to an embodiment when the article of clothing does not include stitching requiring two ends of the wearable cloth to be coupled together by other means (e.g., a knot).

FIGS. 7A-7B are front and side views of a unisex article of clothing 701a, 701b in accordance with an embodiment of the present disclosure. The unisex article of clothing 701a, 701b may be a sarong or lungi as previously described. Unisex article of clothing 701a includes thereon a fastening device with a drawstring 702a and drawstring guide 707a on an internal portion of the garment. It should be understood that the present disclosure is not limited to the fastening device as will be described below.

The unisex article of clothing 701a further includes a pocket 703a, coin sub-pocket 713a, privacy screen 704a, and pocket 705a. Notably, in the embodiment shown in FIG. 7A, privacy screen 704a may be aligned with drawstring 702a. However, the present disclosure is not limited thereto.

In FIG. 7B, the enhancement features—pocket 703b, sub-pocket 713b, drawstring 702b, drawstring guide 707b, privacy screen 704b, and pocket 705 are shown in relation to each from a right-side view. In some embodiments, pocket 703b (along with sub-pocket 713b) and pocket 705b are aligned with one leg when worn. In particular, pockets are disposed on one side of the unisex article of clothing to facilitate the clothing to be one-size-fits all according to some embodiments of the present disclosure. For example, the unisex article of clothing may be one-size-fits all for kids and one-size-fits all for adults.

FIG. 8 is an exemplary view of a bottom portion of a unisex article of clothing 801 in accordance with an embodiment of the present disclosure. Most notably, the unisex article of clothing includes a slit 809. Slit 809 may increase a person's stride radius.

FIG. 9 is an exemplary view of a short-length sarong 901 in accordance with an embodiment of the present disclosure. The short length 915 may extend from one's waist to near one's knee (e.g., right above, at, or right below). Accordingly, a unisex article of clothing such as sarong 901 may have various lengths to accommodate various weather conditions.

FIGS. 10A-F are exemplary pocket alternatives that may be implemented within a unisex article of clothing in accordance with an embodiment of the present disclosure. Pocket 1001, for example, may include a slant portion 1002 to facilitate ease of entry (FIG. 10A). Alternatively, pocket 1003 may include a straight portion 1004 (FIG. 10B).

Pocket 1005 may have a slant portion 1006 and a coin sub-pocket 1007 (FIG. 10C). Alternatively, pocket 1008 has a straight portion 1009 and a coin sub-pocket 1010 (FIG. 10D). A cargo pocket 1011 with a standard opening 1012 is also shown (FIG. 10E). Lastly, a cargo pocket 1013 with a flap 1014 may be another alternative for a unisex article of clothing as described herein (FIG. 10F).

FIGS. 11A-G are exemplary fastener device 1101 alternatives that may be implemented within a unisex article of clothing. Fastener device 1101 may include drawstring ends 1102a, 1102b which may traversed through drawstring guide 1103 (FIG. 11A). Alternatively, fastener device 1104 includes snap buckle mate components 1105a, 1105b, which may also traverse through drawstring guide 1106 (FIG. 11B). Next, fastener device 1107 includes straps 1109 with Velcro 1110 extending from guides 1108, 1111 (FIG. 11C).

In some embodiments, an article of clothing 1112 consistent with the present disclosure includes Velcro strips 1113 to fasten two ends of the article of clothing 1112 together (FIG. 11D). In other embodiments, an article of clothing 1114 consistent with the present disclosure includes snap connection features 1115 to fasten two ends of the clothing 1114 together (FIG. 11E). In some embodiments, an article of clothing 1117 may include a sting or extension component that extends from the cloth and may be wrapped there around to keep the article of clothing 1117 secure during use. Alternatively, an article of clothing 1119 may include one or more belt loops 1118 which facilitate a belt to hold and secure the article of clothing 1119 when worn (FIG. 11G).

FIGS. 12A-B are exemplary privacy screens that may be implemented within a unisex article of clothing in accordance with an embodiment of the present disclosure. In FIG. 12A, a privacy screen 1201 may be a single garment to help obstruct the view of one's sexual or reproductive human organs. In some embodiments, privacy screen 1201 is disposed on an inner surface of the single garment.

Alternatively, a privacy screen 1202 may have a first section 1202a and a second section 1202b. For example, in the case when the article of clothing is worn by a female extending from the top of the females breast, two sections may be used to obscure both breasts.

The preceding Description and accompanying Drawings describe examples of embodiments in some detail to aid understanding. However, the scope of protection may also include equivalents, permutations, and combinations that are not explicitly described herein. Only the claims appended here (along with those of parent, child, or divisional patents, if any) define the limits of the protected intellectual-property rights.

Claims

1. A unisex and one-size-fits-all article of clothing, comprising:

a wearable cloth having a length suitable to extend around the torso of a human body;

wherein a first end of the wearable cloth is coupled to a second end of the wearable cloth when the wearable cloth is donned on a human body; and

a fastening device coupled to the first end and the second end of the wearable cloth.

2. The unisex and one-size-fits all article of clothing of claim 1 further comprising at least one pocket.

3. The unisex and one-size-fits all article of clothing of claim 2, wherein the at least one pocket comprises at least one slant entry portion, straight entry portion, coin sub-pocket, and flap portion.

4. The unisex and one-size-fits all article of clothing of claim 1 further comprising at least one privacy screen.

5. The unisex and one-size-fits all article of clothing of claim 1, wherein the fastening device includes at least one of a drawstring, buckle, Velcro, or snap connection.

6. The unisex and one-size-fits all article of clothing of claim 1 is one of a sarong or a lungi.

7. The unisex and one-size-fits all article of clothing of claim 1, wherein the article of clothing is one-size-fits all for adults or one-size-fits all for kids.

8. A one-size fits-all sarong, comprising:

a wearable cloth having a length suitable to extend around the torso of a human body;

wherein a first end of the wearable cloth is stitched together with a second end of the wearable cloth to form a loop;

a fastening device coupled to the first end and the second end of the wearable cloth; and

a first pocket disposed on an outer surface of the wearable cloth.

9. The one-size-fits-all sarong of claim 8 further comprising a privacy screen disposed on an inner surface of the wearable cloth.

10. The one-size-fits-all sarong of claim 9, wherein the privacy screen is weaved into the wearable cloth.

11. The one-size-fits-all sarong of claim 9, wherein the privacy screen has a first section and a second section.

12. The one-size-fits-all sarong of claim 8, wherein the wearable cloth extends above a human knee when donned.

13. The one-size-fits-all sarong of claim 8 further comprising a second portion pocket disposed above and aligned to the first pocket and on an outer surface of the wearable cloth.

14. A one-size-fits-all lungi, comprising:

a wearable cloth having a length suitable to extend around the torso of a human body;

wherein a first end of the wearable cloth is coupled to a second end of the wearable cloth to form a loop;

a privacy screen disposed on an inner surface of the wearable cloth;

a fastening device coupled to the first end and the second end of the wearable cloth; and

a first pocket disposed below the privacy screen and on an outer surface of the wearable sarong.

15. The one-size-fits-all lungi of claim 14 further comprising a slit to increase a stride radius.

16. The one-size-fits-all lungi of claim 14, wherein the wearable cloth comprises at least one of silk, cotton, sweat-wicking, ultraviolet, linen, polyester, poplin, rayon, nylon, satin, spandex, moisture wick fabrics, UPF/SPF protective fabrics, elastic material, or a combination of the aforementioned materials.

17. The one-size-fits-all lungi of claim 14, wherein the wearable cloth includes a mesh lining.

18. The one-size-fits-all lungi of claim 14, wherein the fastening device comprises at least one of a drawstring, buckle, Velcro, or snap connection.

19. The one-size-fits-all lungi of claim 14, wherein the first pocket is aligned with respect to one human leg when donned.

20. The one-size-fits-all lungi of claim 19 further comprising a second pocket that is aligned with respect to the one human leg.
