CROSS REFERENCE TO RELATED APPLICATIONS

This application claims the benefit of U.S. Provisional Application No. 62/195,008 filed on Jul. 21, 2015. The above identified patent application is herein incorporated by reference in its entirety to provide continuity of disclosure.

FIELD OF THE INVENTION

The present invention relates to undergarments. More specifically, the present invention provides an undergarment having a first absorbent layer that fits tightly to the leg and a lower second layer composed of a breathable material.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

Many individuals decide between wearing boxer briefs and boxer shorts as undergarments under their clothes. Boxer shorts are typically loose fitting around the leg and extend to just above the knee of the wearer. They are worn for comfort rather than for undercarriage support. Conversely, boxer briefs are typically dimensioned to fit tightly against the user's lower waist and thighs and offer additional support.

One drawback to boxer briefs is that they do not offer the same breathability as boxer shorts. Similarly, boxer shorts to not provide the undercarriage support that is provided by tighter fitting boxer briefs. It is therefore desirable to provide a layered undergarment that includes a first tight fitting layer and a second loose fitting layer in order to provide the positive benefits of both boxer briefs and boxer shorts to the wearer.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

In view of the foregoing disadvantages inherent in the known types of undergarments now present in the prior art, the present invention provides a layered undergarment wherein the same can be utilized for providing convenience for the user when wearing undergarments having the desirable qualities of both boxer shorts and a boxer briefs. The layered undergarment includes a first layer having a pair of opposing leg portions extending downward from a lower torso portion, wherein each leg portion includes an aperture configured to receive a wearer's leg therethrough, a second layer disposed over of the first layer, the second layer having a pair of opposing leg portions extending downward from a lower torso portion, wherein each leg portion comprises an aperture configured to receive a wearer's leg therethrough.

One object of the present invention is to provide a layered undergarment that has the desirable properties of both boxer briefs and boxer shorts.

Another object of the present invention is to provide a layered undergarment composed of both absorbent and breathable materials that provide comfort to the wearer

A further object of the invention is to provide a layered undergarment of wherein a diameter the leg portions of the first layer is smaller than a diameter of the leg portions of the second layer.

Other objects, features, and advantages of the present invention will become apparent from the following detailed description taken in conjunction with the accompanying drawings.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS

Although the characteristic features of this invention will be particularly pointed out in the claims, the invention itself and manner in which it may be made and used may be better understood after a review of the following description, taken in connection with the accompanying drawings wherein like numeral annotations are provided throughout.

FIG. 1 shows a phantom view of a layered undergarment according to the present invention.

FIG. 2 shows a front perspective view of a layered undergarment according to the present invention.

FIG. 3 shows a rear perspective view of a layered undergarment according to the present invention.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

Reference is made herein to the attached drawings. Like reference numerals are used throughout the drawings to depict like or similar elements of the layered undergarment. For the purposes of presenting a brief and clear description of the present invention, the preferred embodiment will be discussed as used for a male layered undergarment. The figures are intended for representative purposes only and should not be considered to be limiting in any respect.

Referring now to FIG. 1, there is shown a phantom view of a layered undergarment according to the present invention. The layered undergarment 11 generally comprises a first layer 13 similar to boxer briefs and a second layer 33 similar to boxer shorts. The first layer 13 is disposed beneath the second layer 33. In one embodiment of the invention, an outer surface of the first layer 13 is continuous with the inner surface of the second layer 33. This allows the layers to move with one another and provides enhanced comfort to the wearer.

The first layer 13 includes a lower torso portion 14 and a pair of opposing leg portions 12 extending downward therefrom. The leg portions 12 are each configured to receive the leg of a wearer through openings 15 on a lower end thereof. The leg portions 12 encircle the upper thigh of the wearer. The lower torso portion 14 encircles the lower body of the wearer, preferably around the waist. Similarly, the second layer 33 includes an upper torso portion 16 and leg portions 17 having openings 18 configured to receive the leg of the wearer therethrough. The length of the first layer leg portions 12 is less than the length of the second layer leg portions 17. In one embodiment, the diameter of the first layer leg opening 15 is less than the diameter of the second layer leg portion opening 18. In this way, the first layer fits tightly against an upper part of the thigh for support and the second layer fits looser against a lower part of the thigh for comfort.

In one embodiment of the invention, the first layer 13 comprises a flap 24 on a front portion thereof. The flap 24 can be moved aside providing access to the interior of the first layer 13. The flap 24 and a corresponding flap on the second layer 33 (not visible) allows wearers to urinate or otherwise access the penis without removing the layered undergarment 24.

Referring now to FIG. 2, there is shown a front perspective view of the layered undergarment according to the present invention. The first layer and second layer each have a common upper perimeter edge 22. The upper perimeter edge 22 is continuous with an elastic band 21 that encircles the user's lower torso just above the waist. The elastic band 21 is stretchable and allows the layered undergarment 11 to fit different sized individuals. The elastic band 21 has an outer surface 23 that may comprise a logo thereon. The logo may vary in appearance according to user preference.

In another embodiment of the invention, the layered undergarment includes a fastener configured to further tighten the elastic band 21. The fastener may include a cord and cable stop, a pair of opposing ties, a drawstring, or the like. In this way, adjustability may be provided by either the fastener, such as hook and look material attached to a strap, or by the waistband being elastic.

In the illustrated embodiment, the second layer 33 further comprises a flap 34 on a front portion thereof, preferably extending downward along the upper torso portion 16 of the second layer 33. The second layer flap 34 provides access to the first layer flap, which in turn allows wearers to access the interior of the first layer. This allows wearers to access the genitals without removing the layered undergarment 11.

Referring now to FIG. 3, there is shown a rear perspective view of a layered undergarment according to the present invention. The inner layer 13 is preferably made from a stretchable material so that the inner layer leg portions conform to the thigh of the wearer, providing a comfortable supportive fit. This allows the openings 15 of the inner layer to expand and contract according to the thickness of the wearer's thigh. The inner layer 13 may also include an absorbent material configured to absorb sweat and prevent odors from escaping. Additionally, the outer layer 33 is preferably composed of a breathable material such as mesh. This allows excess moisture to evaporate and allows the legs to remain cool and comfortable.

It is therefore submitted that the instant invention has been shown and described in what is considered to be the most practical and preferred embodiments. It is recognized, however, that departures may be made within the scope of the invention and that obvious modifications will occur to a person skilled in the art. With respect to the above description then, it is to be realized that the optimum dimensional relationships for the parts of the invention, to include variations in size, materials, shape, form, function and manner of operation, assembly and use, are deemed readily apparent and obvious to one skilled in the art, and all equivalent relationships to those illustrated in the drawings and described in the specification are intended to be encompassed by the present invention.

Therefore, the foregoing is considered as illustrative only of the principles of the invention. Further, since numerous modifications and changes will readily occur to those skilled in the art, it is not desired to limit the invention to the exact construction and operation shown and described, and accordingly, all suitable modifications and equivalents may be resorted to, falling within the scope of the invention.
