A credit card sized comb includes a thin, rectangular sheet having a narrow toothed edge, a wide toothed edge opposite the narrow toothed edge, and a middle strip; a plurality of narrow teeth positioned on the narrow toothed edge, the plurality of narrow teeth having a narrow curved tooth gap positioned between bases of the plurality of narrow teeth, a first narrow terminal tooth on a first end of the narrow toothed edge, and a second narrow terminal tooth on a second end of the narrow toothed edge; and a plurality of wide teeth positioned on the wide toothed edge, the plurality of wide teeth having a wide curved tooth gap positioned between bases of the plurality of wide teeth, a first wide terminal tooth on a first end of the wide toothed edge, and a second wide terminal tooth on a second end of the wide toothed edge.

Description
TECHNICAL FIELD

The presently disclosed invention relates generally to hair combs and more particularly to a credit card sized hair comb.

BACKGROUND

A wide variety of hair comb shapes and sizes are manufactured and offered for sale, including credit card sized combs conveniently designed to fit in wallets. However, such combs are limited in that they include one row of teeth. Combs having only one row of teeth are not widely adaptable to various hair types, styles, and conditions. Efforts have been made to manufacture credit card sized combs having one row of staggered teeth in order to improve the adaptability issue, but such staggered tooth combs remain poorly adapted to styling curly hair in addition to straight hair and wet hair in addition to dry hair.

Therefore there at least remains a need in the art for a credit card sized comb having wide adaptability for various hair types, conditions, and styles.

BRIEF SUMMARY

One or more embodiments of the invention may address one or more of the aforementioned problems. Certain embodiments according to the present invention provide a credit card sized hair comb. The credit card sized hair comb may include a thin, rectangular sheet having a narrow toothed edge, a wide toothed edge opposite the narrow toothed edge, and a middle strip; a plurality of narrow teeth positioned on the narrow toothed edge, the plurality of narrow teeth having a narrow curved tooth gap positioned between bases of the plurality of narrow teeth, a first narrow terminal tooth on a first end of the narrow toothed edge, and a second narrow terminal tooth on a second end of the narrow toothed edge; and a plurality of wide teeth positioned on the wide toothed edge, the plurality of wide teeth having a wide curved tooth gap positioned between bases of the plurality of wide teeth, a first wide terminal tooth on a first end of the wide toothed edge, and a second wide terminal tooth on a second end of the wide toothed edge. The first narrow terminal tooth, the second narrow terminal tooth, the first wide terminal tooth, and the second wide terminal tooth may have wider bases than the bases of the plurality of wide teeth, and the plurality of wide teeth may have wider bases than the bases of the plurality of narrow teeth. Additionally, the wide curved tooth gap may be wider than the narrow curved tooth gap.

 DETAILED DESCRIPTION

The present invention now will be described more fully hereinafter with reference to the accompanying drawings, in which some, but not all embodiments of the inventions are shown. Indeed, this invention may be embodied in many different forms and should not be construed as limited to the embodiments set forth herein; rather, these embodiments are provided so that this disclosure will satisfy applicable legal requirements. As used in the specification, and in the appended claims, the singular forms “a”, “an”, “the”, include plural referents unless the context clearly dictates otherwise.

The present invention may include, according to certain embodiments, a credit card sized hair comb having wide adaptability for various hair types, conditions, and styles. As such, in accordance with certain embodiments of the present invention, the credit card sized hair comb may include a thin, rectangular sheet having a narrow toothed edge, a wide toothed edge opposite the narrow toothed edge, and a middle strip; a plurality of narrow teeth positioned on the narrow toothed edge, the plurality of narrow teeth having a narrow curved tooth gap positioned between bases of the plurality of narrow teeth, a first narrow terminal tooth on a first end of the narrow toothed edge, and a second narrow terminal tooth on a second end of the narrow toothed edge; and a plurality of wide teeth positioned on the wide toothed edge, the plurality of wide teeth having a wide curved tooth gap positioned between bases of the plurality of wide teeth, a first wide terminal tooth on a first end of the wide toothed edge, and a second wide terminal tooth on a second end of the wide toothed edge. In such embodiments, the first narrow terminal tooth, the second narrow terminal tooth, the first wide terminal tooth, and the second wide terminal tooth may have wider bases than the bases of the plurality of wide teeth, and the plurality of wide teeth may have wider bases than the bases of the plurality of narrow teeth. Additionally, in such embodiments, the wide curved tooth gap may be wider than the narrow curved tooth gap.

In accordance with certain embodiments of the present invention, for example, the credit card sized comb may comprise length and width dimensions substantially the same as the length and width dimensions of a credit card. In such embodiments, for instance, the credit card sized comb may comprise a thickness from about 0.1 cm to about 1.0 cm. Accordingly, the credit card sized comb may be configured to fit in a standard pocket for maximum portability and convenience. According to certain embodiments, for instance, the credit card sized comb may comprise a variety of materials including, but not limited to, plastic, metal, wood, rubber, or any combination thereof.

In accordance with certain embodiments of the present invention, for instance, the middle strip may comprise a width from about 0.1 cm to about 5.0 cm. In other embodiments, for example, the middle strip may comprise a width from about 0.7 cm to about 2.0 cm. In further embodiments, for instance, the middle strip may comprise a width of about 1.0 cm. As such, in certain embodiments, the middle strip may comprise a width from at least about any of the following: 0.1, 0.5, 0.6, 0.7, 0.85, and 1.0 cm and/or at most about 5.0, 4.0, 3.0, 2.0, and 1.0 cm (e.g., about 0.7-3.0 cm, about 0.5-1.0 cm, etc.). According to certain embodiments, for example, the middle strip may comprise additions including, but not limited to, advertisements, bottle openers, nail files, mirrors and/or the like.

In accordance with certain embodiments of the present invention, for instance, the credit card sized comb may comprise tapered teeth. In such embodiments, for example, the plurality of narrow teeth and the plurality of wide teeth may be uniformly tapered on all sides. In further embodiments, for instance, the first narrow terminal tooth and the second narrow terminal tooth may be tapered and curved towards the plurality of narrow teeth, and the first wide terminal tooth and the second wide terminal tooth may be tapered and curved towards the plurality of wide teeth.

According to certain embodiments of the present invention, for example, the first narrow terminal tooth, the second narrow terminal tooth, the first wide terminal tooth, and the second wide terminal tooth each may comprise a thickness from about 0.1 cm to about 1.0 cm. In other embodiments, for instance, the first narrow terminal tooth, the second narrow terminal tooth, the first wide terminal tooth, and the second wide terminal tooth each may comprise a thickness from about 0.2 cm to about 0.5 cm. In further embodiments, for example, the first narrow terminal tooth, the second narrow terminal tooth, the first wide terminal tooth, and the second wide terminal tooth each may comprise a thickness of about 0.4 cm. As such, in certain embodiments, the first narrow terminal tooth, the second narrow terminal tooth, the first wide terminal tooth, and the second wide terminal tooth each may comprise a thickness from at least about any of the following: 0.1, 0.2, 0.3, and 0.4 cm and/or at most about 1.0, 0.7, 0.5, and 0.4 cm (e.g., about 0.2-0.4 cm, about 0.1-0.5 cm, etc.).

In accordance with certain embodiments of the present invention, for instance, each of the plurality of narrow teeth may comprise a length from about 0.5 cm to about 4.5 cm. In other embodiments, for example, each of the plurality of narrow teeth may comprise a length from about 1.0 cm to about 3.0 cm. In further embodiments, for instance, each of the plurality of narrow teeth may comprise a length of about 2.2 cm. As such, in certain embodiments, each of the plurality of narrow teeth may comprise a length from at least about any of the following: 0.5, 0.75, 1.0, 2.0, and 2.2 cm and/or at most about 4.5, 3.75, 3.0, 2.5, and 2.2 cm (e.g., about 1.0-3.0 cm, about 2.0-3.75 cm, etc.). According to certain embodiments, for example, each of the plurality of wide teeth may comprise a length from about 0.5 cm to about 4.5 cm. In other embodiments, for instance, each of the plurality of wide teeth may comprise a length from about 1.0 to about 3.0 cm. In further embodiments, for example, each of the plurality of wide teeth may comprise a length of about 2.2 cm. As such, in certain embodiments, each of the plurality of wide teeth may comprise a length from at least about any of the following: 0.5, 0.75, 1.0, 2.0, and 2.2 cm and/or at most about 4.5, 3.75, 3.0, 2.5, and 2.2 cm (e.g., about 1.0-3.0 cm, about 2.0-3.75 cm, etc.).

In accordance with certain embodiments of the present invention, for instance, each of the bases of the plurality of narrow teeth may comprise a width from about 0.05 cm to about 0.5 cm. In other embodiments, for example, each of the bases of the plurality of narrow teeth may comprise a width from about 0.08 cm to about 0.25 cm. In further embodiments, for instance, each of the bases of the plurality of narrow teeth may comprise a width of about 0.1 cm. As such, in certain embodiments, each of the bases of the plurality of narrow teeth may comprise a width from at least about any of the following: 0.05, 0.07, 0.08, 0.09, and 0.1 cm and/or at most about 0.5, 0.35, 0.25, 0.15, and 0.1 cm (e.g., about 0.08-0.35 cm, about 0.05-1.0 cm, etc.). According to certain embodiments, for example, each of the plurality of narrow teeth may taper from all directions towards the tip. In such embodiments, for instance, the tip of each of the plurality of narrow teeth may be rounded.

According to certain embodiments of the present invention, for instance, the narrow curved tooth gap may comprise a length from about 0.01 cm to about 0.5 cm. In other embodiments, for example, the narrow curved tooth gap may comprise a length from about 0.05 cm to about 0.3 cm. In further embodiments, for instance, the narrow curved tooth gap may comprise a length of about 0.1 cm. As such, in certain embodiments, the narrow curved tooth gap may comprise a length from at least about any of the following: 0.01, 0.03, 0.05, 0.08, and 0.1 cm and/or at most about 0.5, 0.4, 0.3, 0.2, and 0.1 cm (e.g., about 0.03-0.4 cm, about 0.08-0.2 cm, etc.).

In accordance with certain embodiments of the present invention, for example, each of the bases of the plurality of wide teeth may comprise a width from about 0.1 cm to about 1.0 cm. In other embodiments, for instance, each of the bases of the plurality of wide teeth may comprise a width from about 0.2 cm to about 0.5 cm. In further embodiments, for example, each of the bases of the plurality of wide teeth may comprise a width of about 0.3 cm. As such, in certain embodiments, each of the bases of the plurality of wide teeth may comprise a width from at least about any of the following: 0.1, 0.15, 0.2, 0.25, and 0.3 cm and/or at most about 1.0, 0.75, 0.5, 0.4, and 0.3 cm (e.g., about 0.25-0.4 cm, about 0.15-0.75 cm, etc.). According to certain embodiments, for example, each of the plurality of wide teeth may taper from all directions towards the tip. In such embodiments, for instance, the tip of each of the plurality of wide teeth may be rounded.

According to certain embodiments of the present invention, for instance, the wide curved tooth gap may comprise a length from about 0.1 cm to about 1.0 cm. In other embodiments, for example, the wide curved tooth gap may comprise a length from about 0.25 cm to about 0.75 cm. In further embodiments, for instance, the wide curved tooth gap may comprise a length of about 0.5 cm. As such, in certain embodiments, the wide curved tooth gap may comprise a length from at least about any of the following: 0.1, 0.2, 0.25, 0.4, and 0.5 cm and/or at most about 1.0, 0.85, 0.75, 0.6, and 0.5 cm (e.g., about 0.25-0.85 cm, about 0.25-0.75 cm, etc.).

For example, FIG. 1 illustrates a top view of a credit card sized comb according to an example embodiment. As shown in FIG. 1, the credit card sized comb 100 includes a middle strip 102, a plurality of narrow teeth 104, a plurality of wide teeth, 106, a first narrow terminal tooth 108a, a second narrow terminal tooth 108b, a first wide terminal tooth 110a, a second wide terminal tooth 110b, a plurality of narrow curved tooth gaps 112, and a plurality of wide curved tooth gaps 114.

FIG. 2, for example, illustrates an exploded cross-sectional view along line 2-2 of FIG. 1 according to an example embodiment. As shown in FIG. 2, the cross section of the credit card sized comb illustrates the relative width of one of the plurality of wide teeth 106 as compared to the relative width of one of the plurality of narrow teeth 104, both of which are attached to the middle strip 102.

FIG. 3, for example, illustrates a side view of a credit card sized comb according to an example embodiment. As shown in FIG. 3, the first wide terminal tooth 110a, the middle strip 102, and the first narrow terminal tooth 108a are configured to be relatively thin, much like a credit card.

Exemplary Embodiments

The present invention includes, according to certain embodiments, a credit card sized hair comb having wide adaptability for various hair types, conditions, and styles. As such, in accordance with certain embodiments of the present invention, the credit card sized hair comb includes a thin, rectangular sheet having a narrow toothed edge, a wide toothed edge opposite the narrow toothed edge, and a middle strip; a plurality of narrow teeth positioned on the narrow toothed edge, the plurality of narrow teeth having a narrow curved tooth gap positioned between bases of the plurality of narrow teeth, a first narrow terminal tooth on a first end of the narrow toothed edge, and a second narrow terminal tooth on a second end of the narrow toothed edge; and a plurality of wide teeth positioned on the wide toothed edge, the plurality of wide teeth having a wide curved tooth gap positioned between bases of the plurality of wide teeth, a first wide terminal tooth on a first end of the wide toothed edge, and a second wide terminal tooth on a second end of the wide toothed edge. In such embodiments, the first narrow terminal tooth, the second narrow terminal tooth, the first wide terminal tooth, and the second wide terminal tooth have wider bases than the bases of the plurality of wide teeth, and the plurality of wide teeth have wider bases than the bases of the plurality of narrow teeth. Additionally, in such embodiments, the wide curved tooth gap is wider than the narrow curved tooth gap.

In accordance with certain embodiments of the present invention, the credit card sized comb comprises length, width, and thickness dimensions substantially the same as length, width, and thickness dimensions of a credit card. In some embodiments, the plurality of narrow teeth and the plurality of wide teeth are uniformly tapered.

In accordance with certain embodiments of the present invention, the first narrow terminal tooth and the second narrow terminal tooth are tapered and curved towards the plurality of narrow teeth, and the first wide terminal tooth and the second wide terminal tooth are tapered and curved towards the plurality of wide teeth. According to certain embodiments, the first narrow terminal tooth, the second narrow terminal tooth, the first wide terminal tooth, and the second wide terminal tooth each comprise a thickness from about 0.1 cm to about 1.0 cm. In some embodiments, the first narrow terminal tooth, the second narrow terminal tooth, the first wide terminal tooth, and the second wide terminal tooth each comprise a thickness of about 0.4 cm.

In accordance with certain embodiments of the present invention, the middle strip comprises a width from about 0.1 cm to about 5.0 cm. In other embodiments, the middle strip comprises a width of about 1.0 cm.

In accordance with certain embodiments of the present invention, each of the plurality of narrow teeth comprises a length from about 0.5 cm to about 4.5 cm. In other embodiments, each of the plurality of narrow teeth comprises a length of about 2.2 cm. In some embodiments, each of the bases of the plurality of narrow teeth comprises a width from about 0.05 cm to about 0.5 cm. In further embodiments, each of the bases of the plurality of narrow teeth comprises a width of about 0.1 cm. In certain embodiments, the narrow curved tooth gap comprises a length from about 0.01 cm to about 0.5 cm. In other embodiments, the narrow curved tooth gap comprises a length of about 0.1 cm.

In accordance with certain embodiments of the present invention, each of the plurality of wide teeth comprises a length from about 0.5 cm to about 4.5 cm. In other embodiments, each of the plurality of wide teeth comprises a length of about 2.2 cm. In some embodiments, each of the bases of the plurality of wide teeth comprises a width from about 0.1 cm to about 1.0 cm. In further embodiments, each of the bases of the plurality of wide teeth comprises a width of about 0.3 cm. In certain embodiments, the wide curved tooth gap comprises a length from about 0.1 cm to about 1.0 cm. In other embodiments, the wide curved tooth gap comprises a length of about 0.5 cm.

These and other modifications and variations to the present invention may be practiced by those of ordinary skill in the art without departing from the spirit and scope of the present invention, which is more particularly set forth in the appended claims. In addition, it should be understood that aspects of the various embodiments may be interchanged in whole or in part. Furthermore, those of ordinary skill in the art will appreciate that the foregoing description is by way of example only, and it is not intended to limit the invention as further described in such appended claims. Therefore, the spirit and scope of the appended claims should not be limited to the exemplary description of the versions contained herein.

Claims

1. A credit card sized comb, comprising:

a thin, rectangular sheet having a narrow toothed edge, a wide toothed edge opposite the narrow toothed edge, and a middle strip;
a plurality of narrow teeth positioned on the narrow toothed edge, the plurality of narrow teeth comprising a narrow curved tooth gap positioned between bases of the plurality of narrow teeth, a first narrow terminal tooth on a first end of the narrow toothed edge, and a second narrow terminal tooth on a second end of the narrow toothed edge; and
a plurality of wide teeth positioned on the wide toothed edge, the plurality of wide teeth comprising a wide curved tooth gap positioned between bases of the plurality of wide teeth, a first wide terminal tooth on a first end of the wide toothed edge, and a second wide terminal tooth on a second end of the wide toothed edge,
wherein the first narrow terminal tooth, the second narrow terminal tooth, the first wide terminal tooth, and the second wide terminal tooth have wider bases than the bases of the plurality of wide teeth, and the plurality of wide teeth have wider bases than the bases of the plurality of narrow teeth,
wherein the wide curved tooth gap is wider than the narrow curved tooth gap, and
wherein the plurality of wide teeth and the plurality of narrow teeth are all substantially the same length.

2. The credit card sized comb according to claim 1, wherein the credit card sized comb comprises length and width dimensions substantially the same as length and width dimensions of a credit card.

3. The credit card sized comb according to claim 1, wherein the credit card sized comb comprises a thickness from about 0.1 cm to about 1.0 cm.

4. The credit card sized comb according to claim 1, wherein the plurality of narrow teeth and the plurality of wide teeth are uniformly tapered.

5. The credit card sized comb according to claim 1, wherein the first narrow terminal tooth and the second narrow terminal tooth are tapered and curved towards the plurality of narrow teeth, and the first wide terminal tooth and the second wide terminal tooth are tapered and curved towards the plurality of wide teeth.

6. The credit card sized comb according to claim 5, wherein the first narrow terminal tooth, the second narrow terminal tooth, the first wide terminal tooth, and the second wide terminal tooth each comprise a thickness from about 0.1 cm to about 1.0 cm.

7. The credit card sized comb according to claim 4, wherein the first narrow terminal tooth, the second narrow terminal tooth, the first wide terminal tooth, and the second wide terminal tooth each comprise a thickness of about 0.4 cm.

8. The credit card sized comb according to claim 1, wherein the middle strip comprises a width from about 0.1 cm to about 5.0 cm.

9. The credit card sized comb according to claim 1, wherein the middle strip comprises a width of about 1.0 cm.

10. The credit card sized comb according to claim 1, wherein each of the plurality of narrow teeth comprises a length from about 0.5 cm to about 4.5 cm.

11. The credit card sized comb according to claim 1, wherein each of the plurality of narrow teeth comprises a length of about 2.2 cm.

12. The credit card sized comb according to claim 1, wherein each of the bases of the plurality of narrow teeth comprises a width from about 0.05 cm to about 0.5 cm.

13. The credit card sized comb according to claim 1, wherein each of the bases of the plurality of narrow teeth comprises a width of about 0.1 cm.

14. The credit card sized comb according to claim 1, wherein each of the plurality of wide teeth comprises a length from about 0.5 cm to about 4.5 cm.

15. The credit card sized comb according to claim 1, wherein each of the plurality of wide teeth comprises a length of about 2.2 cm.

16. The credit card sized comb according to claim 1, wherein each of the bases of the plurality of wide teeth comprises a width from about 0.1 cm to about 1.0 cm.

17. The credit card sized comb according to claim 1, wherein each of the bases of the plurality of wide teeth comprises a width of about 0.3 cm.

18. The credit card sized comb according to claim 1, wherein the narrow curved tooth gap comprises a length from about 0.01 cm to about 0.5 cm.

19. The credit card sized comb according to claim 1, wherein the narrow curved tooth gap comprises a length of about 0.1 cm.

20. The credit card sized comb according to claim 1, wherein the wide curved tooth gap comprises a length from about 0.1 cm to about 1.0 cm.

22. A credit card sized comb, comprising:

a thin, rectangular sheet having a narrow toothed edge, a wide toothed edge opposite the narrow toothed edge, and a middle strip;
a plurality of narrow teeth positioned on the narrow toothed edge, the plurality of narrow teeth comprising a narrow curved tooth gap positioned between bases of the plurality of narrow teeth, a first narrow terminal tooth on a first end of the narrow toothed edge, and a second narrow terminal tooth on a second end of the narrow toothed edge; and
a plurality of wide teeth positioned on the wide toothed edge, the plurality of wide teeth comprising a wide curved tooth gap positioned between bases of the plurality of wide teeth, a first wide terminal tooth on a first end of the wide toothed edge, and a second wide terminal tooth on a second end of the wide toothed edge,
wherein the first narrow terminal tooth, the second narrow terminal tooth, the first wide terminal tooth, and the second wide terminal tooth have wider bases than the bases of the plurality of wide teeth, and the plurality of wide teeth have wider bases than the bases of the plurality of narrow teeth,
wherein the wide curved tooth gap is wider than the narrow curved tooth gap, and
wherein the thin, rectangular sheet, the plurality of narrow teeth, the plurality of wide teeth, the first and second narrow terminal tooth, and the first and second wide terminal tooth are comprised of a plastic material.
