Description
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

1. Field of the Invention

The present invention relates to a connection assembly, and more particularly to a connection assembly for fan blades of a ceiling to keep the fan from being detached from a housing.

2. Description of Related Art

A ceiling fan is mounted on a ceiling and substantially comprises a housing, a motor connected with the housing, and multiple fan blades connected to the housing. When the motor is switched on, the housing and the fan blades are rotated to decrease the temperature indoors.

However, the fan blades are directly connected to the housing with fasteners, so the fan blades are easily detached from the housing after a long term of use because the fasteners get rusty. Therefore, the safety of the use of the ceiling fan has to be improved.

To overcome the shortcomings, the present invention tends to provide a connection assembly for fan blades of a ceiling fan to mitigate or obviate the aforementioned problems.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

The main objective of the invention is to provide a connection assembly for fan blades of a ceiling fan to keep the fan blades from being detached from a housing.

The connection assembly has a housing, multiple connection tabs, and multiple fasteners. The housing has a radial direction, a periphery, and multiple mounting hole sets. The mounting hole sets are arranged around the housing at intervals and are adjacent to the periphery. Each mounting hole set comprises multiple mounting holes and a hook hole. The connection tabs are connected respectively with the mounting hole sets. Each connection tab has multiple connecting holes, a hook, and multiple blade-fastening holes. The connecting holes are defined through the connection tab at positions adjacent to an end of the connection tab and are aligned respectively with the mounting holes of a corresponding one of the mounting hole sets. The hook is formed on the connection tab and is hooked with the hook hole of the corresponding mounting hole set along a direction perpendicular to the radial direction of the housing. The blade-fastening holes are formed through the connection tab. The fasteners are mounted through the mounting holes of the mounting hole sets and the connecting holes in the connection tabs to connect the connection tabs with the housing.

Other objects, advantages and novel features of the invention will become more apparent from the following detailed description when taken in conjunction with the accompanying drawings.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS

FIG. 1 is a perspective view of a ceiling fan with a connection assembly in accordance with the present invention;

FIG. 2 is an exploded perspective view of the ceiling fan in FIG. 1;

FIG. 3 is a top view of the connection assembly in FIG. 1; and

FIG. 4 is a side view in partial section of the connection assembly along the line 4-4 in FIG. 3.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF PREFERRED EMBODIMENT

With reference to FIGS. 1 to 3, a connection assembly for fan blades of a ceiling fan in accordance with the present invention comprises a housing 10, multiple connection tabs 20, and multiple fasteners 50.

The housing 10 may be formed as a round disk, and has a radial direction, a periphery, and multiple mounting hole sets 12. The mounting hole sets 12 are arranged around the housing 10 at intervals and are adjacent to the periphery. Each mounting hole set 12 comprises multiple mounting holes 122 and a hook hole 124. The mounting holes 122 may be threaded holes or through holes.

The connection tabs 20 are connected respectively with the mounting hole sets 12. Each connection tab 20 comprises multiple connecting holes 22, a hook 24, and multiple blade-fastening holes 26. The connecting holes 22 are defined through the connection tab 20 at positions adjacent to an end of the connection tab 20 and are aligned respectively with the mounting holes 122 of a corresponding one of the mounting hole sets 12. The hook 24 is formed on the connection tab 20 and is hooked with the hook hole 124 of the corresponding mounting hole set 12 along a direction d perpendicular to the radial direction r of the housing 10. The blade-fastening holes 26 are formed through the connection tab 20 to connect with a fan blade 30 of the ceiling fan.

The fasteners 50 are mounted through the mounting holes 122 of the mounting hole sets 12 and the connecting holes 22 in the connection tabs 20 to connect the connection tabs 20 with the housing 10. The fasteners 50 may be bolts.

In assembling, with reference to FIGS. 3 and 4, the hooks 24 on the connection tabs 20 are hooked into the hook holes 124 in the housing 10 along the direction d perpendicular to the radial direction r of the housing 10, the fasteners 50 are then mounted respectively through the aligned mounting holes 122 and the connecting holes 22 in the housing 10 and the connection tabs 20. When the mounting holes 122 in the housing 10 are threaded holes, the fasteners 50 are screwed with the mounting holes 122 in the housing 10 directly. When the mounting holes 122 in the housing 10 are through holes, the fasteners 50 are mounted through the mounting holes 122 and are screwed with nuts. Accordingly, the connection tabs 20 are securely connected with the housing 10. Multiple fan blades 30 can be connected securely to the blade-fastening holes 26 in the connection tabs 20 with fasteners. Thus, the fan blades 30 are connected with the housing 10 via the connection tabs 20. With further reference to FIG. 2, the housing 10 with the connection tabs 20 and the fan blades 30 are then connected with a motor 40 to assemble as a ceiling fan. Consequently, when the motor 40 is turned on, the housing 10 and the fan blades 30 are rotated to decrease the temperature indoors.

With reference to FIGS. 3 and 4, because the hooks 24 on the connection tabs 20 are hooked with the hook holes 124 in the housing 10 along the direction d perpendicular to the radial direction r of the housing 10, the connection tabs 20 can be kept from being detached from the housing 10 even when the fasteners 50 are loosened due to the rust of the fasteners 50. The fan blades 30 can be prevented from being detached from the housing 10, so the safety of use of the ceiling fan can be improved.

Even though numerous characteristics and advantages of the present invention have been set forth in the foregoing description, together with details of the structure and function of the invention, the disclosure is illustrative only, and changes may be made in detail, especially in matters of shape, size, and arrangement of parts within the principles of the invention to the full extent indicated by the broad general meaning of the terms in which the appended claims are expressed.
