Hanging Jewelry Storage Device

A jewelry storage device is provided having a back panel a pair of front panels. The front panels each have an interior edge with fastened line of connection to operably connect the two panels together. The back panel is secured to the front panels along an upper edge and along a pair of side edges. An upper opening and optional side openings are provided along the device such that a clothing hanger can be placed therethrough to support the device in a suspended state. The panels additionally include pouches therealong for holding jewelry articles therein. Jewelry hanger loops may also be provided to support hanging jewelry articles from the device. Finally, the pouches may be removably attached to the panels and tie straps may be provided along the front panels to secure to the panels to the clothing hanger when folding the device upwards and in half to reduce space.

CROSS REFERENCE TO RELATED APPLICATION

This application claims the benefit of U.S. Provisional Application No. 62/206,492 filed on Aug. 18, 2015. The above identified patent application is herein incorporated by reference in its entirety to provide continuity of disclosure.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION Field of the Invention

The present invention relates to storage of jewelry and other personal accessories items in a structure suitable to be hung in a closet using a standard clothing hanger. More specifically, the present invention relates to a jewelry storage device having several panels and a construction that mimics a hanging garment, whereby an upper opening is used to support the storage device from a rack or hook via a clothes hanger.

The present invention is a storage and organization device for jewelry and accessory items. Those who own and regularly adorn these items may appreciate new ways of storing and organizing the same while not in use. Whether traveling or maintaining the jewelry items in a secure place at home, utilizing jewelry boxes and other large structures requires considerable space. Jewelry boxes are large and bulky, and may also be easy targets for intruders. The present invention provides an alternative storage location in which items can be conveniently, efficiently, and inconspicuously stored while the items are not be worn.

In particular, the jewelry storage device of the present invention comprises a garment-shaped assembly with a back panel, a first front panel, and a second front panel. The two front panels have an interior edge that can be fastened together, while the back panel is connected to the front panels along an upper edge and a pair of side edges. The upper portion of the panels includes an upper opening that is adapted to receive a clothes hanger therethrough. In addition, the upper portions of the front panels and back panel may also have openings that are adapted to receive the distal ends of the clothes hanger therethrough. Each of the panels has a plurality of pouches therealong, in which jewelry and accessory items can be stored. In addition, the panels may include loops for supporting hanging jewelry therefrom. Overall, the jewelry storage device stores different styles of jewelry items and can be hung in a closet among other clothing items to save space and/or to conceal the presence of the jewelry storage device.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

The following summary is intended solely for the benefit of the reader and is not intended to be limiting in any way. The present invention provides a new jewelry storage device that can be utilized for providing convenience for the user when storing jewelry and accessory items.

It is therefore an object of the present invention to provide a new and improved jewelry storage device that has all of the advantages of the prior art and none of the disadvantages.

It is another object of the present invention to provide a jewelry storage device having a back panel, a first front panel, and a second front panel. The first front panel and the second front panel each has an interior edge, whereby the interior edges align and comprise a fastened line of connection to removably secure the interior edge of the first front panel to the interior edge of the second front panel.

Another object of the present invention is to provide a jewelry storage device in which the back panel is connected to the first front panel and to the second front panel along an upper edge and along a pair of side edges.

Another object of the present invention is to provide a jewelry storage device in which the upper edge further comprises an upper opening and in which each of the pair of side edges optionally comprise a side opening adjacent to the upper edge. These openings provide clearance for a clothing hanger to be placed therethrough when supporting the storage device via the hanger.

Another object of the present invention is to provide a jewelry storage device whereby the back panel, the first front panel, and the second front panel each comprises an interior surface. At least one of the interior surfaces has a jewelry article pouch therealong that is adapted for holding jewelry articles and other accessories therein.

Another object of the present invention is to provide a jewelry storage device wherein the pouches may be removably affixed to the interior surfaces of the device via hook and loop fastener material or other suitable fasteners.

Another object of the present invention is to provide a jewelry storage device wherein the first front panel and the second front panel have a tie strap extending therefrom. The tie straps are adapted to be operably tied together to form a closed loop that is suitable for placement over the hook of the clothing hanger when folding the device upwards and in half. This condenses the size of the jewelry back for travel and general storage purposes.

Another object of the present invention is to provide a jewelry storage device wherein the back panel, the first front panel, and the second front panel form the shape of a dress garment when the interior edge of the first front panel and the interior edge of the second front panel are fastened together.

Another object of the present invention is to provide a jewelry storage device wherein the fastened line of connection between the front panels further comprises a zip fastener line of connection.

Another object of the present invention is to provide a jewelry storage device wherein at least one of the interior surfaces of the back panel, the first front panel, and the second front panel further comprises jewelry hanger loops therealong that are adapted to support hanging jewelry articles therefrom.

Other objects, features and advantages of the present invention will become apparent from the following detailed description taken in conjunction with the accompanying drawings.

 DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

Reference is made herein to the attached drawings. Like reference numerals are used throughout the drawings to depict like or similar elements of the jewelry storage device of the present invention. For the purposes of presenting a brief and clear description of the present invention, the preferred embodiment will be discussed as used for storing jewelry, accessories, and other items in an inconspicuous, hanging device that can be suspended from a clothes hanger or similar structure. The figures are intended for representative purposes only and should not be considered to be limiting in any respect.

Referring now to FIGS. 1-3, there are shown views of the jewelry storage device 10 of the present invention in an open state. The jewelry storage device 10 is one that can be used to conveniently and inconspicuous storage jewelry and other items from a hanging structure. The device 10 is suitable for hanging from a clothes hanger 70 such that it can be positioned within a closet and amongst other hanging clothes. This allows a user to store items in a more secure location that is less obvious than placement in a jewelry box. In addition, the device comprises a soft structure that can conform to different spaces, making it ideal for full closets or for use while traveling. The device 10 supports jewelry articles 200 and other items along its interior, whereby the device can be folded and condensed when desired. This makes the device 10 a useful storage device, whereby the device can serve multiple functions; namely, efficient storage, security, and convenience.

The device comprises a back panel 31, a first front panel 11, and a second front panel 12. The first front panel 11 and the second front panel 12 both have an interior edge 13 and a pair of side edges 15 that form a seam with the back panel 31. The interior edges 13 of the front panels align with one another and include a fastened line of connection therealong to removably secure the interior edge 15 of the first front panel 11 to the interior edge 15 of the second front panel 12 when closing the front of the device. The line of connection is preferably a zip fastener 18 that runs the substantial length of the interior edges 15. When connected, the interior edges 15 form together and the back panel 31 and front panels 11, 12 form a tubular shape.

The back panel 31 extends along the back of the device and is connected to the first front panel 11 and to the second front panel 12 along an upper edge 25 and along the pair of side edges 15. The upper edge 17 of the front panels 11, 12 and the upper edge 37 of the back panel are preferably open and only connect along two short seams 25. These seams 25 form the upper edges 25 of the device. Between the upper edges 25 and side edges 15 of the device are preferably side openings 16 that form “arm holes” through which the ends of a clothes hanger 70 may be positioned. Similarly, between the upper edges 25 of the device is a central upper opening 36. This forms the “neck hole” of the device, through which the hanger 70 is positioned. In this way, a hanger supports the device 10 through the side openings 16 and the upper opening 36. The side openings 16 extend along the side edges 15 of the panels and along the seam 15 between the panels, while the upper opening 31 extends across the upper edge 37 of the back panel 31.

The back panel 31, the first front panel 11, and the second front panel 12 all comprise interior surfaces that form the interior of the device 10 when the line of connection is secured closed and the device is in a tubular (closed) state. Along at least one of the interior surfaces of the back panel 31, the first front panel 11, and the second front panel 12 are pouches 40 that are adapted for holding jewelry articles 200 or other items therein. The pouches 40 are enclosures with at least one opening for placement and retrieval of the items therein and therefrom. In one embodiment, the pouches are clear such that items therein are visible upon inspection. This embodiment contemplates plastic pouch material or similar transparent material. Alternatively, the pouches may be opaque and comprised of a material that is not readily transparent,

In addition to pouches 40, the interior surfaces of the device 10 may include hooks, loops 45, or other suitable fasteners for supporting hanging items 201 therefrom. These hanging items 201 may be clasped to or secured through the loops 45 and suspended therefrom along the interior of the device. When the device 10 is hung from the clothing hanger 70, these hanging items 201 are suspended from the loops 45 and are displayed along the interior surface of the particular panel they are supported from. The loops 45 may be positioned along any of the interior surfaces of the device. Likewise, the interior surfaces may support one or more pouches therealong. The exact configuration of the interior of the device 10 is not limited to the embodiments provided in the drawing views. Similarly, the shape of the device and the panels is not limited to the embodiments shown and presented in the drawing views. Rather, an embodiment of the device 10 is presented that illustrates all features of the device 10, along with one configuration thereof with several pouches 30 along each interior surface and several hanging loops 45 along the interior surface of the back panel 31.

The upper end of the device 10 is adapted to be supported by a clothes hanger 70, whereby the hook 71 of the hanger 70 is positioned through the upper opening 36 and the arms of the hanger are supported through the side openings 16 thereof. In addition, the lower end 14 of the side panels and the lower end 34 of the back panel 31 are preferably open. When the zip fastener line of connection secures the front panels together, the upper opening 36 and the open lower of the panels form open ends of the tubular device. To secure the lower end of the device or to secure the device in a folded state, tie straps 55 are provided along the lower end of the device 10.

Referring now to FIGS. 3 and 4, there are shown views of the device in a closed state. In this state, the interior edges 13 of the first front panel 11 and the second front panel 12 are joined together via the zip fastener 18 line of connection that runs therealong. In addition, the lower ends 34, 14 of the back panel 31 and the front panels is in an open state. Finally, the upper end of the device forms the upper opening 36 and side openings 16, separated by the connected upper edges 17 or seams between the front panels 11, 12 and the back panel 31. In this state, the device comprises a substantially tubular shape. A clothing hanger 70 can be positioned through the upper opening 36 and through the side openings 16. In particular, the head or hook 71 of the hanger 70 extends through the upper opening 36, while the ends 72 of the hanger 70 extend through the side openings 16. The hook 71 of the hanger 70 can be supported by a clothing rack, clothing rail, or even over the exposed edge 100 of a door.

The interior edge 13 of the first front panel 11 and the interior edge 13 of the second front panel 12 each have a tie strap 55 extending therefrom. The tie strap 55 of the first front panel 11 and the tie strap 55 of the second front panel 12 are adapted to be operably tied together to form a closed loop when the interior edge 13 of the first front panel 11 and the interior edge 13 of the second front panel 12 are connected to one another. The tie straps 55 are preferably disposed along the lower edge 14 of the panels, as shown in FIG. 4.

When desired, the device can be folded in half to reduce its overall size. Once the front panels 11, 12 are connected along their interior edges 13, the closed loop formed by the tied tie straps 55 can be secured around a hook 71 of a clothing hanger 70 supporting the device when the clothing hanger 70 is positioned through the upper opening 36 of the device. As shown in FIG. 5, the back panel 31 the first front panel 11, and the second front panel 12 are folded upwards 300 and towards the upper opening 36. The tie straps 55 are then positioned over the hanger 70 to secure the device in a folded state.

When accessing the items in the jewelry storage device, the device is in an unfolded state and the front panels are separated. Referring to FIG. 3, there is shown a close-up view of the pouches 40 of the present invention. The pouches 40 are preferably transparent structures that form a surface with three connected sides and an open side to form a three-sided pouch. The upper edge, or alternatively another edge, is open for placement and retrieval of item from the interior of the pouch 40. In one preferred embodiment, each pouch has an opening 42, whereby the opening can be secured closed via a pouch line of connection 43. The style of connection may be the same as the line of connection between the front panels, or alternatively it may be different. For both connections, the connection may be zip fastener line of connection, a hook and loop fastener line of connection, or another suitable or equivalent connector.

Finally, the pouches themselves are preferably sewn along three sides to the particular panel of the device. Therefore, the pouches are not removable from the particular panel. However, in one embodiment, and as shown in FIG. 3, the pouches may be supported by a backing material 47 that is removable from the particular panel. In this embodiment, the pouches 40 may be removably connected to the panels 11, 12, 31 via hook and loop fastening material 48 or equivalent connectors (i.e. buttons, snaps, etc.) along the backing material 47. This allows the user to remove the pouches 40 individually or in groups, depending on the size of the backing material 47. However, in a preferred embodiment, the pockets are sewn or otherwise permanently secured to the interior surfaces of the panels.

It is submitted that the instant invention has been shown and described in what is considered to be the most practical and preferred embodiments. It is recognized, however, that departures may be made within the scope of the invention and that obvious modifications will occur to a person skilled in the art. With respect to the above description then, it is to be realized that the optimum dimensional relationships for the parts of the invention, to include variations in size, materials, shape, form, function and manner of operation, assembly and use, are deemed readily apparent and obvious to one skilled in the art, and all equivalent relationships to those illustrated in the drawings and described in the specification are intended to be encompassed by the present invention.

Therefore, the foregoing is considered as illustrative only of the principles of the invention. Further, since numerous modifications and changes will readily occur to those skilled in the art, it is not desired to limit the invention to the exact construction and operation shown and described, and accordingly, all suitable modifications and equivalents may be resorted to, falling within the scope of the invention.

Claims

1) A jewelry storage device, comprising:

a back panel, a first front panel, and a second front panel;
whereby the first front panel and the second front panel each has an interior edge;
the interior edges aligning and further comprising a fastened line of connection to removably secure the interior edge of the first front panel to the interior edge of the second front panel;
the back panel being connected to the first front panel and to the second front panel along an upper edge and along a pair of side edges;
whereby the upper edge further comprises an upper opening;
whereby each of the back panel, the first front panel, and the second front panel comprises an interior surface;
at least one of the interior surfaces of the back panel, the first front panel, and the second front panel having a pouch therealong that is adapted for holding jewelry articles therein.

2) The jewelry storage device of claim, wherein each of the pair of side edges further comprises a side opening adjacent to the upper edge.

3) The jewelry storage device of claim 1, wherein the interior surfaces of the back panel, the first front panel, and the second front panel each have a plurality of pouches therealong that are adapted for holding jewelry articles therein.

4) The jewelry storage device of claim 1, wherein:

the interior surfaces of the back panel has at least one pouch therealong that is adapted for holding jewelry articles therein; and
wherein the at east one pouch along the interior surfaces of the back panel has a rear surface that is removably affixed to the interior surface of the back panel.

5) The jewelry storage device of claim 1, wherein:

the interior surfaces of the first front panel has at least one pouch therealong that is adapted for holding jewelry articles therein; and
wherein the at least one pouch along the interior surfaces of the first front panel has a rear surface that is removably affixed to the interior surface of the first front panel.

6) The jewelry storage device of claim 1, wherein:

the interior surfaces of the second front panel has at least one pouch therealong that is adapted for holding jewelry articles therein; and
wherein the at least one pouch along the interior surfaces of the second front panel has a rear surface that is removably affixed to the interior surface of the second front panel.

7) The jewelry storage device of claim 1, wherein:

wherein each of the pair of side edges further comprises a side opening adjacent to the upper edge;
whereby the side opening along each of the pair of side edges and the upper opening are adapted to receive a clothing hanger therein.

8) The jewelry storage device of claim 1, wherein whereby the upper opening are adapted to receive a clothing hanger therein.

9) The jewelry storage device of claim 1, wherein:

the interior edge of the first front panel and the interior edge of the second front panel each have a tie strap extending therefrom;
whereby the tie strap of the first front panel and the tie strap of the second front panel are adapted to be operably tied together to form a closed loop when the interior edge of the first front panel and the interior edge of the second front panel are adjacent to one another; and
wherein the closed loop is adapted to be secured around a hook of a clothing hanger supporting the back panel, the first front panel, and the second front panel when the clothing hanger is positioned through the upper opening and when the back panel, the first front panel, and the second front panel are folded upwards towards the upper opening.

10) The jewelry storage device of claim 1, herein:

the back panel, the first front panel, and the second front panel form the shape of a dress when the interior edge of the first front panel and the interior edge of the second front panel are fastened together.

11) The jewelry storage device of claim 1, wherein the fastened line of connection further comprises a zip fastener line of connection.

12) The jewelry storage device of claim 1, wherein the fastened line of connection further comprises a hook and loop fastener line of connection.

13) The jewelry storage device of claim 1, wherein:

at least one of the interior surfaces of the back panel, the first front panel, and the second front panel further comprises jewelry hanger loops therealong that are adapted to support hanging jewelry articles therefrom.
