Abstract

Using a method of attachment such as, without limitation, button(s) or hook and loop (velcro), the present invention comprises a bib which can be fastened via snap button(s) or the like to a onesie, thereby combining the bib and onesie into a set. The present invention allows for a bib and onesie to be combined as a set. Additionally, the invention provides additional benefits such as increased support and protection and has style.

Description

CROSS-REFERENCE TO RELATED APPLICATION

The present application is based on, and claims the benefit of priority of U.S. application Ser. No. 62208917, filed on Aug. 24, 2015, the disclosure of which is hereby incorporated by reference herein in its entirety.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

1. Field of the invention

The field of the invention is onebib that can be attached and detached from a user without neck engaging section. This field includes baby bibs and adult bibs, for personal use or in the field of dental or medical care. It includes bibs suitable for use in nursing homes and care for the elderly.

2. Description of the Prior Art

The use of bibs or feeders to protect infants or babies clothing during feeding is well known. Typically, a bib comprises a generally square, rectangular or otherwise suitably shaped section of material provided with securing tapes or the like which in use is placed on the front of the infant and fastened about the infant's neck by way of the tapes. After use the bib is removed and washed. Similarly bibs are used in hospitals in the feeding of elderly and handicapped people.

According to prior art, an individual wearing a bib must first remove the bib before a onesie can be worn by that individual. Similarly, an individual wearing a onesie must first remove the onesie before a bib can be worn by that individual.

A number of approaches have been taken for providing a protective bib, particularly for infants, to be worn over clothing to protect the clothing from food spills, dribbles and the like. Such bibs are usually formed of an absorbent material, typically terrycloth or the like and are made in various shapes and sizes with means for fastening the bib about the neck of the child.

One prior art form of an interchangeable bib is that which is formed of an interchangeable body encompassing section. This encompassing section will prevent the seepage experienced by all-cloth bibs; however, it still is a one-use bib requiring securing tapes or the like for each use.

A need exists in the current art for buttons or adhesives; a versatile bib or apron that can be inexpensively maintained and selectively altered for convenient effect. It is to this need that the present invention is directed. The present invention solves the problem by a unique set of elements described according to claims 1 to 5.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

The present invention provides an improved or at least alternative form for a bib and onesie to be combined as a set. Advantageously, the torso side of the bib is provided with fixed fastening means for snapping or adhering the bib to the clothing of the user. Additionally, the invention provides additional benefits such as increased support and protection and has style.

In one preferred embodiment, the fastening means may comprise adhesive elements or snap elements suitable fixing to the clothing of the user. Typically, each of the snap elements of the bib includes a male snap element, and each of the fastening elements of the clothing of the users includes a female snap element.

In other preferred embodiment, the fastening means of the bib and the fastening elements of the clothing of the user are selected from a group consisting of buttons, pins, zippers, Velcro, and hook and loop fasteners.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

An embodiment of the present invention is disclosed in FIG. 1. The bib 16 is shown having an approximately flat bib body 10 of approximate rounded shape with a torso side and an outward side. Other shapes are considered in the present invention, including oval, square and rectangular. The bib body 16 is made of flexible material that is preferably water-impermeable, such as polyethylene or other plastic, reinforced paper or fabric. It is desirable to have the material to be water-impermeable because the bib body 16 shields the user from liquids spilled on the outward side of the bib body.

Referring to FIG. 1, the bib 16 is used by attaching the fastener 12 to the clothing of the user and placing the torso side of the bib 16 against the clothing of the user. Typically, the fastener 12 includes snapping elements that fastening the torso side of the bib 16 to the clothing of the user by snapping the male snap of the bib 16 to the female snap of the clothing of the users.

Another embodiment of the fastening means for attaching the bib 16 to the clothing of the user is shown in FIGS. 3 and 4, wherein adhesive elements 14 are strategically located on each of sections of the torso side of the bib 16. Typically, the fastener 14 includes adhesive portions to attach the torso side of the bib 16 to the clothing of the user by simply pressing the sensitive adhesive 14 against the clothing of the user as shown in FIG. 4. The pressure sensitive adhesive may optionally have a peel-off cover.

The bib 16 optionally has a neck portion 18 that approximately touches or encircles the neck. The neck portion 18 can be square, arcuate or other shapes. It can have slits or notches that allow the neck portion 18 to fit a variety of sizes of necks and users.

The embodiments were chosen and described to best explain the principles of the invention and its practical application to persons who are skilled in the art. As various modifications could be made to the exemplary embodiments, as described above with reference to the corresponding illustrations, without departing from the scope of the invention, it is intended that all matter contained in the foregoing description and shown in the accompanying drawings shall be interpreted as illustrative rather than limiting. Thus, the breadth and scope of the present invention should not be limited by any of the above described exemplary embodiments, but should be defined only in accordance with the following claims appended hereto and their equivalents.

Having illustrated and described the principles of the present invention in a preferred embodiment, it will be apparent to those skilled in the art that the embodiment can be modified in arrangement and detail without departing from such principles. Any and all such embodiments are intended to be included within the scope of the following claims.

Claims

1. A onebib for a user comprising

(a) a flexible bib body having bib body wherein the bib body has a torso side and an outward side, and wherein the bid body can be manipulated to clean the user,

(b) a user engaging section having two upper ends wherein the two upper ends have at least one securing means to fasten the bib body to the clothing of the user wherein the bib can be partially or fully removed from the clothing of the user by detaching the securing means from the clothing of the user.

2. The bib of claim 1 wherein the securing means further comprises at least one fastener.

3. The bib of claim 2 wherein the fastener is selected from the group consisting of two straps that fasten by either adhesive, snaps, hooks, circular magnet, buttons or VELCRO® loop and hook fasteners, or any combination thereof.

4. The bib of claim 2 wherein the fastener is configured for registering with and removing the bib body from the clothing of the user.

5. The bib of claim 1 wherein the bid body is approximately spread flat.
