DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENT

With reference now to the drawings, and in particular to FIGS. 1 through 6 thereof, a new polishing device embodying the principles and concepts of an embodiment of the disclosure and generally designated by the reference numeral 10 will be described.

As best illustrated in FIGS. 1 through 6, the nail polishing assembly 10 generally comprises an applicator 12 that may be gripped. The applicator 12 has a first end 14, a second end 16 and a peripheral surface 18 extending between the first end 14 and the second end 16. The second end 16 is open and the applicator 12 is substantially hollow to define a space 20 within the applicator 12. The first end 14 has a well 22 extending toward the space 20. The well 22 may be offset from a middle of the applicator 12.

A cartridge 24 is provided and the cartridge 24 contains a fluid 26. The cartridge 24 is elongated and the fluid 26 may comprise a fluid nail polish or the like. The cartridge 24 is removably inserted into the second end 16 such that the cartridge 24 is positioned within the space 20. The cartridge 24 may be one of a plurality of cartridges 24. The fluid 26 in each of the cartridges 24 may have a unique color with respect to each other.

A valve 28 is positioned within the applicator 12 and the valve 28 regulates a flow of the fluid 26 from the cartridge 24. The valve 28 is fluidly coupled between the well 22 and the space 20. The valve 28 is in fluid communication with the cartridge 24 when the cartridge 24 is positioned in the space 20. The valve 28 includes a button 30 extending upwardly through the peripheral surface 18. Thus, the button 30 may be manipulated thereby facilitating the valve 28 to regulate a flow of the fluid between the cartridge 24 and the well 22. The valve 28 may comprise a manually operated fluid valve or the like and a pipe 32 may be fluidly coupled between the valve 28 and the well 22. The button 30 regulates the flow of the fluid 26 between a minimum rate and a maximum rate.

A plurality of tips 34 is provided. A selected one of the tips 34 is removably coupled to the applicator 12 such that the selected tip 34 may engage a nail 36. The nail 36 may be a fingernail and the nail 36 may be a toenail. The selected tip 34 is in fluid communication with the cartridge 24. Thus, the selected tip 34 selectively applies the fluid 26 to the nail 36.

Each of the tips 34 has a primary end 38, a secondary end 40 and an outer surface 42 extending between the primary end 38 and the secondary end 40. Each of the tips 34 has a nipple 44 extending outwardly from the primary end 38. The well 22 insertably receives the nipple 44 corresponding to the selected tip 34 such that the selected tip 34 is removably coupled to the applicator 12. Each of the tips 34 has a pad 46 that is coupled to the outer surface 42. Thus, the pad 46 engages the nail 36 when the applicator 12 is manipulated. The pad 46 is positioned adjacent to the secondary end 40.

The outer surface 42 of each of the tips 34 has a first lateral side 48, a second lateral side 50, a top side 52 and a bottom side 54. The secondary end 40 of each of the tips 34 is concavely arcuate between the first lateral side 48 and the second lateral side 50. The pad 46 is coextensive with the secondary end 40. Thus, the pad 46 applies the fluid 26 on the nail 36 to extend inwardly from an end 55 of the nail 36. Thus, the fluid is applied in the convention of a French Manicure or the like. Additionally, the curvature of the pad 46 ensures a precise curvature of the fluid 26 on the nail 36. Thus, the appearance of the fluid 26 on the nail 36 is enhanced.

Each of the tips 34 has a conduit 56 extending between the nipple 44 and the pad 46. The pad 46 is in fluid communication with the valve 28 when the selected tip 34 is removably coupled to the applicator 12. Thus, the pad 46 may distribute the fluid 26 onto the nail 36. The pad 46 may be comprised of a resiliently compressible and fluid permeable material.

The plurality of tips 34 includes a first tip 58. The first tip 58 includes a jaw 60 that is hingedly coupled to the first tip 58. The jaw 60 is spaced from the bottom side 54 of the first tip 58. The pad 46 corresponding to the first tip 58 is positioned on the bottom side 54.

A biasing member 62 is coupled between the jaw 60 and the first tip 58. The biasing member 62 biases the jaw 60 toward the first tip 58. The jaw 60 is positioned to engage a bottom surface 64 of the nail 36. The jaw 60 compresses the pad 46 corresponding to the first tip 58 against a top surface 66 of the nail 36. Thus, the pad 46 applies the fluid 26 to the top surface 66 of the nail 36.

The plurality of tips 34 includes a second tip 68. The pad 46 corresponding to the second tip 68 is positioned on the top side 52. The applicator 12 is manipulated such that the top side 52 corresponding to the second tip 68 is positioned to engage the bottom surface 64 of the nail 36. Thus, the pad 46 applies the fluid 26 to the bottom surface 64 of the nail 36.

In an alternative embodiment 70 as shown in FIG. 1, the first tip 58 may have a variety of lengths and widths. Thus, the first tip 58 may accommodate a variety of sizes of the nails 36. The secondary end 40 of the first tip 58 may be convexly acruate between the first lateral side 48 and the second lateral side 50. Additionally, the first tip 58 may be structured to resemble a human finger.

A pump 72 is removably coupled to the applicator 12. The pump 72 comprises a bulb 74 and a stem 76 that is fluidly coupled to the bulb 74. The stem 76 extends into the second end 16 of the applicator 12 when the pump 72 is removably coupled to the applicator 12. The stem 76 engages the cartridge 24 such that the bulb 74 is in fluid communication with the cartridge 24. The bulb 74 is comprised of a resiliently deformable material. Thus, the bulb 74 may be compressed thereby facilitating the bulb 74 to pressurize the fluid 26 in the cartridge 24.

In use, the selected one of the tips 34 is removably coupled to the applicator 12. The cartridge 24 is inserted into the applicator 12 and the pump 72 is removably coupled to the applicator 12. The bulb 74 is manipulated to pressurize the fluid 26 in the cartridge 24. The pad 46 corresponding to the first tip 58 is positioned to engage the top surface 66 of the nail 36. The button 30 is manipulated to regulate the flow of the fluid 26 to the pad 46 and the fluid 26 is applied to the top surface 66 of the nail 36. The pad 46 corresponding to the second tip 68 is positioned to engage the bottom surface 64 of the nail 36. The button 30 is manipulated to regulate the flow of the fluid 26 to the pad 46 and the fluid 26 is applied to the bottom surface 64 of the nail 36.

With respect to the above description then, it is to be realized that the optimum dimensional relationships for the parts of an embodiment enabled by the disclosure, to include variations in size, materials, shape, form, function and manner of operation, assembly and use, are deemed readily apparent and obvious to one skilled in the art, and all equivalent relationships to those illustrated in the drawings and described in the specification are intended to be encompassed by an embodiment of the disclosure.

Therefore, the foregoing is considered as illustrative only of the principles of the disclosure. Further, since numerous modifications and changes will readily occur to those skilled in the art, it is not desired to limit the disclosure to the exact construction and operation shown and described, and accordingly, all suitable modifications and equivalents may be resorted to, falling within the scope of the disclosure. In this patent document, the word “comprising” is used in its non-limiting sense to mean that items following the word are included, but items not specifically mentioned are not excluded. A reference to an element by the indefinite article “a” does not exclude the possibility that more than one of the element is present, unless the context clearly requires that there be only one of the elements.
