Method of Protecting a Cabinet
A method of protecting a cabinet includes the positioning of a liner on a bottom wall of a cabinet. The cabinet has a top wall and a perimeter wall that is attached to and extends between the top and bottom walls. The perimeter wall has a front side is open. At least one door is mounted on the perimeter wall to selectively open or close the front side. The liner includes a lower wall and a peripheral wall that is attached to and extends upwardly from the lower wall.
The disclosure relates to cabinet wall protecting devices and more particularly pertains to a new cabinet wall protecting device for preventing an interior of a cabinet from being damaged from water or chemical leakage.
SUMMARY OF THE DISCLOSUREAn embodiment of the disclosure meets the needs presented above by generally comprising the positioning of a liner on a bottom wall of a cabinet. The cabinet has a top wall and a perimeter wall that is attached to and extends between the top and bottom walls. The perimeter wall has a front side is open. At least one door is mounted on the perimeter wall to selectively open or close the front side. The liner includes a lower wall and a peripheral wall that is attached to and extends upwardly from the lower wall. The liner comprises an elastomeric material.
There has thus been outlined, rather broadly, the more important features of the disclosure in order that the detailed description thereof that follows may be better understood, and in order that the present contribution to the art may be better appreciated. There are additional features of the disclosure that will be described hereinafter and which will form the subject matter of the claims appended hereto.

The liner 12 includes a lower wall 24 and a peripheral wall 26 that is attached to and extends upwardly from the lower wall 24. The lower wall 24 abuts and covers at least 90% of an upper surface 28 of the bottom wall 14. The peripheral wall 26 extends above a top side 30 of the lower wall 24 between 0.5 inches and 1.0 inch. Such a height will retain fluids within the liner 12 while not inhibiting the positioning of items on the lower wall 24. The liner 12 comprises an elastomeric material that is resiliently bendable.
The lower wall 24 has a pair of opposite edges 32, 34 and top side 30 of the lower wall 24 is sloped from one of the opposite edges 32 to another one of the opposite edges 34. The opposite edges 32, 34 may include a forward edge and a rearward edge or a first a lateral edge and a second lateral edge. By sloping the top side 30, fluids held by the liner 12 will pool to one edge and thereby facilitate being easily observable and noticed. The slop may be very slight and be less than 5° of slope.
In use, the liner 12 is placed within a cabinet 16 to prevent fluids from damaging the bottom wall 14 of the cabinet 16. While the Figures depict a leaking sink 22 for instance, the liner 12 may be used to hold cleaning containers and the like to prevent their spillage or leakage onto the bottom wall 14. Additionally, wet footwear or other non-dry materials may be placed on the liner 12 where they may dry without damaging the cabinet 16.
With respect to the above description then, it is to be realized that the optimum dimensional relationships for the parts of an embodiment enabled by the disclosure, to include variations in size, materials, shape, form, function and manner of operation, assembly and use, are deemed readily apparent and obvious to one skilled in the art, and all equivalent relationships to those illustrated in the drawings and described in the specification are intended to be encompassed by an embodiment of the disclosure.
Therefore, the foregoing is considered as illustrative only of the principles of the disclosure. Further, since numerous modifications and changes will readily occur to those skilled in the art, it is not desired to limit the disclosure to the exact construction and operation shown and described, and accordingly, all suitable modifications and equivalents may be resorted to, falling within the scope of the disclosure. In this patent document, the word “comprising” is used in its non-limiting sense to mean that items following the word are included, but items not specifically mentioned are not excluded. A reference to an element by the indefinite article “a” does not exclude the possibility that more than one of the element is present, unless the context clearly requires that there be only one of the elements.

1. A method of protecting a housing from fluid damage comprising the step
- positioning of a liner on a bottom wall of a cabinet, said cabinet having a top wall and a perimeter wall being attached to and extending between said top and bottom walls, said perimeter wall having a front side being open, at least one door being mounted on said perimeter wall to selectively open or close said front side, said liner including a lower wall and a peripheral wall being attached to and extending upwardly from said lower wall, said liner comprising an elastomeric material.
