Athletic Training System

An athletic training system includes a goal net that may be positioned on a support surface. The goal net may capture a ball when the ball is launched toward the goal net. A rebound net is movably coupled to the goal net. The rebound net is positionable in a deployed position. The rebound net covers the goal net when the rebound net is positioned in the deployed position. Thus, the rebound net may rebound the ball when the ball is launched toward the goal net. The rebound net is positionable in a stored position such that the goal net is exposed.

FIG. 1 is a top perspective view of an athletic training system according to an embodiment of the disclosure.

FIG. 2 is a perspective in-use view of an embodiment of the disclosure.

FIG. 3 is a right side view of an embodiment of the disclosure.

FIG. 4 is a front view of an embodiment of the disclosure.

FIG. 5 is a front perspective view of an embodiment of the disclosure.

DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENT

With reference now to the drawings, and in particular to FIGS. 1 through 5 thereof, a new training device embodying the principles and concepts of an embodiment of the disclosure and generally designated by the reference numeral 10 will be described.

As best illustrated in FIGS. 1 through 5, the athletic training system 10 generally comprises a goal net 12 that may be positioned on a support surface 14. The goal net 12 has a front side 16, a back side 18, a pair of lateral sides 20 and a back side 22. The front side 16 is open and the goal net 12 captures a ball 24 when the ball 24 is launched toward the goal net 12. The front side 16 has an upper edge 26 and a pair of lateral edges 28. The goal net 12 may comprise a soccer net or the like and the ball 24 may be launched by a kicker. The goal net 12 includes a frame 30 that is coextensive with the upper edge 26 and the lateral edges 28.

A rebound net 32 is movably coupled to the goal net 12. The rebound net 32 is positionable in a deployed position. The rebound net 32 covers the front side 16 when the rebound net 32 is positioned in the deployed position. Thus, the rebound net 32 rebounds the ball 24 back to the kicker when the ball 24 is launched toward the front side 16. The rebound net 32 is positionable in a stored position having the rebound net 32 lying on the back side 22 of the goal net 12. The front side 16 is exposed when the rebound net 32 is in the stored position.

The rebound net 32 has a first edge 34, a second edge 36 and a third edge 38. The first edge 34 extends between the second edge 36 and the third edge 38. The second edge 36 and the third edge 38 are spaced apart from each other. The first edge 34 is movably coupled to the upper edge 26 of the goal net 12.

A plurality of fasteners 40 is provided and each of the fasteners 40 is coupled between the first edge 34 and the upper edge 26. The fasteners 40 are spaced apart from each other and distributed along the first edge 34. Each of the fasteners 40 may comprise a ring or the like. Thus, the rebound net 32 is movably retained on the goal net 12.

A first set of couplers 42 is provided. Each of the first set of couplers 42 is coupled to the second edge 36 and each of the first couplers 42 may be manipulated. The first set of couplers 42 are spaced apart from each other and distributed along the second edge 36. Each of the first set of couplers 42 engages the frame 30 corresponding to an associated one of the lateral edges 28 when the rebound net 32 is in the deployed position. Each of the first set of couplers 42 may be comprised of a resiliently stretchable material.

Each of the first set of couplers 42 may have a leg 44 extending away from a loop 46. The loop 46 corresponding to each of the first set of couplers 42 may engage the second edge 36. The leg 44 may have a distal end 48 with respect to the loop 46 and a ball 50 may be coupled to the distal end 48. The leg 44 corresponding to each of the first set of couplers 42 may be wrapped around the frame 30 corresponding to the associated lateral edge 28. The ball 50 corresponding to each of the first set of couplers 42 frictionally may engage the loop 46 of an associated one of the first set of couplers 42. Thus, each of the first set of couplers 42 removably retains the rebound net 32 on the associated lateral edge 28.

A second set of couplers 52 is provided. Each of the second set of couplers 52 is coupled to the third edge 38 and each of the second set of couplers 52 may be manipulated. The second set of couplers 52 is spaced apart from each other and distributed along the third edge 38. Each of the second set of couplers 52 engages an associated one of the lateral edges 28 of the goal net 12 when the rebound net 32 is positioned in the deployed position. Each of the second set of couplers 52 may be comprised of a resiliently stretchable material.

Each of the second set of couplers 52 may have a leg 44 extending away from a loop 46. The loop 46 corresponding to each of the second set of couplers 52 may engage the third edge 38. The leg 44 may have a distal end 48 with respect to the loop 46 and a ball 50 may be coupled to the distal end 48. The leg 44 corresponding to each of the second set of couplers 52 may be wrapped around the frame 30 corresponding to the associated lateral edge 28. The ball 50 corresponding to each of the second set of couplers 52 frictionally may engage the loop 46 of an associated second set of couplers 52. Thus, each of the second set of couplers 52 removably retains the rebound net 52 on the associated lateral edge 28.

The rebound net 32 is stretched between the lateral edges 28 when the rebound net 32 is positioned in the deployed position. Thus, the rebound net 32 may rebound the ball 24 when the ball 24 strikes the rebound net 32. The rebound net 32 extends between the upper edge 26 and the support surface 14 thereby inhibiting the ball 24 from entering the goal net 12. The rebound net 32 is comprised of a resiliently stretchable material. Thus, the rebound net 32 returns the ball 24 with force to the kicker when the ball 24 strikes the rebound net 32.

In use, the rebound net 32 is positioned in the deployed position when the goal net 12 is used for target practice. Each of the first set of couplers 42 is fastened to the goal net 12. Each of the second set of couplers 52 is fastened to the goal net 12. The ball 24 is launched at the goal net 12 with the intention of striking the rebound net 32. The ball 24 is rebounded to the kicker when the ball 24 strikes the rebound net 32. Thus, the kicker does not have to continually retrieve the ball 24 from the goal net 12.

With respect to the above description then, it is to be realized that the optimum dimensional relationships for the parts of an embodiment enabled by the disclosure, to include variations in size, materials, shape, form, function and manner of operation, assembly and use, are deemed readily apparent and obvious to one skilled in the art, and all equivalent relationships to those illustrated in the drawings and described in the specification are intended to be encompassed by an embodiment of the disclosure.

Therefore, the foregoing is considered as illustrative only of the principles of the disclosure. Further, since numerous modifications and changes will readily occur to those skilled in the art, it is not desired to limit the disclosure to the exact construction and operation shown and described, and accordingly, all suitable modifications and equivalents may be resorted to, falling within the scope of the disclosure. In this patent document, the word “comprising” is used in its non-limiting sense to mean that items following the word are included, but items not specifically mentioned are not excluded. A reference to an element by the indefinite article “a” does not exclude the possibility that more than one of the element is present, unless the context clearly requires that there be only one of the elements.
