Storage Rack with Multiple Shelves

A storage rack with multiple shelves includes a mounting system, a base plate, and a plurality of shelf assemblies. The mounting system is integrated onto a top end of the base plate and secure the storage rack onto a door or a wall. The plurality of shelf assemblies is positioned parallel with a top edge of the base plate and vertically distributed along the base plate. The plurality of shelf assemblies is perpendicularly connected to a front surface of the base plate and provides a storage area for hats or other delicate items. The plurality of shelf assemblies is configured to be retractable and positioned atop the front surface of the base plate so that the plurality of shelf assemblies and the base plate can be stored as a flat unit to minimize storage space.

Description

The current application claims a priority to the U.S. Provisional Patent application Ser. No. 62/266,456 filed on Dec. 11, 2015. The current application is filed on Dec. 12, 2016 while Dec. 11, 2016 was on a weekend.

FIELD OF THE INVENTION

The present invention relates generally to a storage shelf that can be hung with the ability to collapse conveniently and efficiently. More specifically, the present invention is an over the door or wall mounting rack that can store hats or other light materials.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

Aesthetic appearance of a head wear is directly dependent on the curvature or the pristine look of the visor, brim, crown, cockade, peak, and the plume. Head wear comes in a variety of styles, colors, and materials. As a result, each type of head wear requires the user to store the item in a certain way so that the head wear does not change the aesthetic appearance.

It is an objective of the present invention to provide the storage rack with multiple shelves to accommodate each types of head wears. The present invention provides a shelf area that can be set to a variety of different angles based on the need of the user via cord lock, allowing the user to store any type of head wear comfortably knowing that their aesthetic appearance will not be altered or affected. The present invention features multiple shelves that can be adjusted to different angular orientations independently. This invention can be mounted over the door or onto a wall, allowing the user to hang up or remove the apparatus quickly and easily. Each shelf is held up by two strings and two brackets. The shelves are not permanently fastened to the brackets. However, two magnets that are integrated into the bottom corners of the shelves removably secure each shelf to the respective brackets. This allows the user to easily remove the shelves for storage purposes. The present invention allows users to safely store and display head wear. In addition, the present invention can also accommodate other accessories including, but are not limited to, clothes, scarves, cables, art supplies, jewelry, threads, and other light and delicate items.

DETAIL DESCRIPTIONS OF THE INVENTION

All illustrations of the drawings are for the purpose of describing selected versions of the present invention and are not intended to limit the scope of the present invention.

The present invention is a storage rack with multiple shelves to accommodate head wear and other delicate items that require to maintain constant aesthetic appearance. For example, the present invention accommodates accessories including, but are not limited to, hats, clothes, scarves, cables, art supplies, jewelry, threads, and other light weighted items. The present invention comprises a mounting system 1, a base plate 4, and a plurality of shelf assemblies 10 as shown in FIG. 1-2. Furthermore, each of the plurality of shelf assemblies 10 comprises a first supporting mechanism 11, a second supporting mechanism 18, and a shelf 19. In reference to the general configuration of the present invention, the mounting system 1 is integrated onto a top end 5 of the base plate 4. The plurality of shelf assemblies 10 is perpendicularly positioned with a top edge 6 of the base plate 4 in such a way that the plurality of shelf assemblies 10 is vertically distributed along the base plate 4. Resultantly, the shelf 19 is perpendicularly mounted to a front surface 9 of the base plate 4 through the first supporting mechanism 11 and the second supporting mechanism 18. Additionally, the first supporting mechanism 11 and the second supporting mechanism 18 allow the shelf 19 to be adjusted into different angular orientations.

The base plate 4 is a long and thin rectangle panel that further comprises a first lateral edge 7 and a second lateral edge 8. Furthermore, it is important to note that the exact dimensions of the base plate 4 may dependent upon other features of the present invention. For example, increasing the number of shelf assemblies 10 may require the base plate 4 to be increased in height. The base plate 4 is made of a rigid material which is capable of bearing some loading forces as the ridged material can include, but is not limited to, plastic, particle board, and sheet metals. In reference to FIG. 1, the first lateral edge 7 and the second lateral edge 8 are positioned parallel to each other and perpendicularly and terminally positioned of the top edge 6. In other words, the top edge 6, the first lateral edge 7, the second lateral edge 8, and a bottom edge of the base plate 4 delineate the general shape of the base plate 4. The front surface 9 is formed into a flat surface area so that the plurality of shelf assemblies 10 can be properly aligned and secured to the front surface 9. Additionally, the base plate 4 may bear specific colorations or patters which are intended to improve the aesthetic appeal of the present invention. The colorations or patters add a factor of customizability to the present invention, allowing the user to choose what color or pattern is most appealing to them.

In reference to FIG. 1, the mounting system 1 comprises at least one frame hook 2 in order to vertically hold the base plate 4 on a door panel. The frame hook 2 comprises a thin rectangular cross section of material bent ninety degrees at two different points to form a hook portion. The frame hook 2 is designed to snuggly fit over a door panel, thereby providing an anchor point for the base plate 4 to be attached to the door panel. The frame hook 2 is symmetrically connected to a backside of the base plate 4 and positioned adjacent to the top edge 6, wherein the hook portion of the frame hook 2 is orientated away from the front surface 9. Even though the present invention preferably utilizes a single frame hook 2, the present invention can utilize a plurality of frame hooks 2 for increased stability. In such a case, the plurality of frame hooks 2 is also symmetrically and horizontally connected along the top edge 6 of the base plate 4 as additional vertical supports for the present invention.

In reference to FIG. 2, the mounting system 1 comprises a pair of mounting holes 3 in order to vertically hold the base plate 4 on a wall. More specifically, the pair of mounting holes 3 is symmetrically traversed through the base plate 4 and positioned adjacent to the top edge 6. As a result, the pair of mounting holes 3 can be utilized to tie mounting cords, insert screws, or insert nails, wherein the aforementioned fastening members secure the base plate 4 to the wall.

The plurality of shelf assemblies 10 is attached to the base plate 4 as is illustrated in FIG. 3, and provide the physical surface upon which a variety of different items can be placed for storage. The plurality of shelf assemblies 10 is distributed vertically along the base plate 4, and the distance between each of the plurality of shelf assemblies 10 may vary. The number of shelf assemblies 10 is dependent upon the overall height of the base plate 4 as there must be some space left between each of plurality of shelf assemblies 10 in order to allow the storage of items thereon. In reference to FIG. 1-2, the first supporting mechanism 11 is adjacently positioned with the first lateral edge 7 and a first edge 20 of the shelf 19. The second supporting mechanism 18 is adjacently positioned with the second lateral edge 8 and a second edge 21 of the shelf 19. As a result, the first edge 20 is positioned coplanar to the first lateral edge 7 while the second edge 21 is positioned coplanar to the second lateral edge 8. A front end 23 and a rear end 22 of the shelf 19 are retractably mounted to the base plate 4 by the first supporting mechanism 11 and the second supporting mechanism 18. More specifically, the first supporting mechanism 11 and the second supporting mechanism 18 allow the user to easily detach and collapse the shelf 19 for storage purpose. Furthermore, the first supporting mechanism 11 and the second supporting mechanism 18 allow the user easily adjust the shelf 19 into different angular orientations. As a result, the base plate 4 can be secured to an angular surface without compromising the storage capability of the plurality of shelf assemblies 10.

In reference to FIG. 4-6, the first supporting mechanism 11 and the second supporting mechanism 18 each comprise a L-bracket 12, a magnet 13, a cable 14, and a cord lock 17. The L-bracket 12 is connected onto front surface 9, and the magnet 13 is integrated into the rear end 22 of the shelf 19. As a result, the rear end 22 of the shelf 19 is attached to the L-bracket 12 by the magnet 13. More specifically, the magnet 13 is fastened to the underside of the shelf 19 and coincident with a rear corner of the shelf 19. In order to provide a level surface, the magnet 13 is preferably positioned flush with the underside of the shelf 19. A vertical support of the L-bracket 12 is connected onto the front surface 9 so that a horizontal support of the L-bracket 12 can provide a sufficient surface area for the rear end 22 of the shelf 19. The L-bracket 12 must be manufactured using a ferrous metal in order to ensure magnetic attraction between the magnet 13 and the L-bracket 12 so that the rear end 22 of the shelf 19 can be removably attached. Resultantly, the shelf 19 is horizontally held in place by the magnetic attraction between the magnet 13 and the L-bracket 12. An upper end 15 of the cable 14 is connected to the base plate 4 and positioned atop the L-bracket 12 so that the upper end 15 can provide a permanent connection point between the cable 14 and the base plate 4. A lower end 16 of the cable 14 is traversed through the front end 23 of the shelf 19 and slidably engaged with the shelf 19 by the cord lock 17. More specifically, the cord lock 17 is positioned underneath the shelf 19 and allows the user to adjust the angular position of the shelf 19 through the cord lock 17 as the cable 14 angularly extends from the base plate 4 to the front end 23 of the shelf 19.

Although the invention has been explained in relation to its preferred embodiment, it is to be understood that many other possible modifications and variations can be made without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention as hereinafter claimed.

Claims

1. A storage rack with multiple shelves comprises:

a mounting system;
a base plate;
a plurality of shelf assemblies;
each of the plurality of shelf assemblies comprises a first supporting mechanism, a second supporting mechanism, and a shelf;
the mounting system being integrated onto a top end of the base plate;
the plurality of shelf assemblies being perpendicularly positioned with a top edge of the base plate;
the plurality of shelf assemblies being distributed along the base plate; and
the shelf being perpendicularly mounted to a front surface of the base plate through the first supporting mechanism and the second supporting mechanism.

2. The storage rack with multiple shelves as claimed in claim 1 comprises:

the base plate further comprises a first lateral edge and a second lateral edge;
the first lateral edge and the second lateral edge being positioned parallel to each other; and
the first lateral edge and the second lateral edge being perpendicularly and terminally positioned of the top edge.

3. The storage rack with multiple shelves as claimed in claim 1 comprises:

the mounting system comprises at least one frame hook; and
the frame hook being symmetrically connected to the base plate, adjacent to the top edge.

4. The storage rack with multiple shelves as claimed in claim 1 comprises:

the mounting system comprises a pair of mounting holes; and
the pair of mounting holes being symmetrically traversing through the base plate, adjacent to the top edge.

5. The storage rack with multiple shelves as claimed in claim 1 comprises:

the first supporting mechanism being adjacently positioned with a first lateral edge of the base plate and a first edge of the shelf;
the second supporting mechanism being adjacently positioned with a second lateral edge of the base plate and a second edge of the shelf;
the first edge being positioned coplanar to the first lateral edge;
the second edge being positioned coplanar to the second lateral edge; and
a front end and a rear end of the shelf being retractably connected to the base plate by the first supporting mechanism and the second supporting mechanism.

6. The storage rack with multiple shelves as claimed in claim 5 comprises:

the first supporting mechanism and the second supporting mechanism each comprise a L-bracket, a magnet, a cable, and a cord lock;
the L-bracket being connected onto front surface of the base plate;
the magnet being integrated into the rear end of the shelf;
the rear end of the shelf being attached to the L-bracket by the magnet;
an upper end of the cable being connected to the base plate;
a lower end of the cable traversing through the front end of the shelf; and
the lower end of the cable being slidably engaged with the shelf by the cord lock.

7. A storage rack with multiple shelves comprises:

a mounting system;
a base plate;
a plurality of shelf assemblies;
each of the plurality of shelf assemblies comprises a first supporting mechanism, a second supporting mechanism, and a shelf;
the mounting system being integrated onto a top end of the base plate;
the plurality of shelf assemblies being perpendicularly positioned with a top edge of the base plate;
the plurality of shelf assemblies being distributed along the base plate;
the first supporting mechanism being adjacently positioned with a first lateral edge of the base plate and a first edge of the shelf;
the second supporting mechanism being adjacently positioned with a second lateral edge of the base plate and a second edge of the shelf;
the first edge being positioned coplanar to the first lateral edge;
the second edge being positioned coplanar to the second lateral edge; and
a front end and a rear end of the shelf being retractably connected to a front surface of the base plate by the first supporting mechanism and the second supporting mechanism.

8. The storage rack with multiple shelves as claimed in claim 7 comprises:

the first lateral edge and the second lateral edge being positioned parallel to each other; and
the first lateral edge and the second lateral edge being perpendicularly and terminally positioned of the top edge.

9. The storage rack with multiple shelves as claimed in claim 7 comprises:

the mounting system comprises at least one frame hook; and
the frame hook being symmetrically connected to the base plate, adjacent to the top edge.

10. The storage rack with multiple shelves as claimed in claim 7 comprises:

the mounting system comprises a pair of mounting holes; and
the pair of mounting holes being symmetrically traversing through the base plate, adjacent to the top edge.

11. The storage rack with multiple shelves as claimed in claim 7 comprises:

the first supporting mechanism and the second supporting mechanism each comprise a L-bracket, a magnet, a cable, and a cord lock;
the L-bracket being connected onto front surface of the base plate;
the magnet being integrated into the rear end of the shelf;
the rear end of the shelf being attached to the L-bracket by the magnet;
an upper end of the cable being connected to the base plate;
a lower end of the cable traversing through the front end of the shelf; and
the lower end of the cable being slidably engaged with the shelf by the cord lock.
