WRAPWRAP PERFORATED FOOD WRAP SHEET

The system of the preferred embodiments is a food wrap sheet comprising a quadrilateral sheet made of food grade material, where the sheet is designed to be wrapped around a food item, where the sheet is perforated to allow a user to more easily tear away the wrap from the food item. The food wrap sheet is designed to preferably allow a user to easily tear the wrap off one end of the food item, hold the partially wrapped food item vertically for consumption without having to worry about fluids leaking from the food wrap, and then progressively tear away the food wrap sheet as the user consumes the food item.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE FIGURES

FIG. 1 is a schematic representation of the system of the preferred embodiments in which a portion of a food safe wrap sheet is perforated to allow a user to more easily tear it away from a food item.

FIG. 2 is a schematic representation of the system of the preferred embodiments viewed from the top in which the food wrap sheet is wrapped around a food item.

DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS

The following description of the preferred embodiments of the invention is intended to enable someone skilled in the prior art to make and use this invention, but is not intended to limit the invention to these preferred embodiments.

1. First Preferred Embodiment

As shown in FIG. 1, the system of the preferred embodiments is a food wrap sheet 100 comprising a quadrilateral sheet 1 made of food grade material, where the sheet 1 is designed to be wrapped around a food item 2, where the sheet 1 is perforated to allow a user to more easily tear away the wrap from the food item 2. The food wrap sheet 100 is designed to preferably allow a user to easily tear the wrap off one end 6 of the food item 2, hold the partially wrapped food item 2 vertically for consumption without having to worry about fluids leaking from the food wrap, and then progressively tear away the food wrap sheet 100 as the user consumes the food item 2.

As shown in FIG. 1, the food wrap sheet 100 of the first preferred embodiments comprises a quadrilateral sheet 1 of food safe material. In one preferred variation, the quadrilateral may be a square. In another preferred variation, the quadrilateral may be a rectangle. In another preferred variation, the quadrilateral may be one or more of a diamond, a rhombus, and a parallelogram. In another preferred variation, the shape of the sheet 1 may not be a quadrilateral, and may be one or more of a triangle, an oval, and any other suitable shape. The food safe material is preferably a type of food handling paper material. In one preferred variation, the food safe material is a type of waxed paper. In another preferred variation, the food safe material is a type of foil backed paper. In another preferred variation, however, the food safe material may be a foil. The food safe material may, however, be any suitable material. As shown in FIGS. 2 and 12, the food wrap sheet 100 is wrapped around a food item 2. The manner in which it is wrapped a food item 2 can vary greatly, and may vary depending on the person or establishment doing the wrapping. Preferably the design of the food wrap sheet 100 provides a layout that when wrapped around the food item 2 would be beneficial for the user to consume the food item 2 more easily given the most common wrap method. The food wrap sheet 100 preferably protects the food item 2 during serving and transport, and prevents the food item 2 from making a mess or falling apart. The food wrap sheet 100 may, however, be used in any suitable manner. The layout may result in the perforated portion 3 having any suitable location on the food item 2.

As shown in FIG. 1, there is a portion of the food wrap sheet 100 that is perforated. The perforations allow a user to tear the wrap more easily. As shown in FIGS. 12 and 15, preferably the perforated portion 3 of the wrap allows the portion of the wrap to be torn away that covers the portion 21 of the food item 2 that would generally be consumed first by a user. As shown in FIG. 2, in one preferred variation the perforations are designed so that when the food item 2 is wrapped in the food wrap sheet 100, the food wrap sheet 100 can be easily torn away from at least one end 6 of the food item 2. In another preferred variation, the perforations may be designed to allow the food wrap sheet 100 to tear away from the middle of the food item 2. This may be beneficial for consuming food items 2 which are served cut in half, which may include one or more of sandwiches, burritos, and any other food item 2 served cut in half. The perforated portion 3 of the food wrap sheet 100 may, however, be designed in any suitable manner for facilitating the consumption of the food item 2 by the user.

As shown in FIG. 2, the perforated portion 3 of the food wrap sheet 100 is preferably designed so that the perforation portion will not be immediately adjacent to the end 6s of the food item 2 when the food wrap sheet 100 is wrapped around the food item 2. As shown in FIG. 3, in one preferred variation the perforated portion 3 of the food wrap sheet 100 is preferably designed so that the perforation portion will not be within one eighth 4 of the length of the food item 2 when the food wrap sheet 100 is wrapped around the food item 2. As shown in FIG. 4, in another preferred variation the perforated portion 3 of the food wrap sheet 100 is preferably designed so that the perforation portion will not be within one quarter 5 of the length of the food item 2 when the food wrap sheet 100 is wrapped around the food item 2. This preferably allows a user to hold the food item 2 vertically during consumption without significant risk that fluids will leak through the perforations because of gravity, which might happen if the perforations were placed too close to the end 6 of the food item 2.

As shown in FIG. 5, in one preferred variation the food wrap sheet 100 includes at least two perforation lines, where if the corners of the food wrap sheet 100 are arbitrarily numbered from 1 to 4 in a clockwise direction, the first perforation line 131 extends from a point on the side between corners one 101 and two 102 at a distance 122 between one eighth and one half the length of the shortest side of the food wrap sheet 100 from corner one 101 along the side between corners one 101 and two 102; the first perforation line 131 extends diagonally to a point on the side between corners two 102 and three 103 at a distance 123 of between one eighth and one half the length of the shortest side of the food wrap sheet 100 from corner three 103. In this preferred variation, the second perforation line 132 extends from a point on the side between corner three 103 and corner four 104 a distance 124 of between one eighth and one half the length of the shortest side from corner three 103; the second perforation line 132 extends diagonally to a point on the side between corners three 103 and four 104, a distance 121 of between one eighth and one half the length of the shortest side from corner four 104. Preferably, each of the four distances 121, 122, 123, and 124 in this preferred variation are identical, and fall in the range of between one eighth and one half of the length of the shortest side. In another preferred variation, the at least two perforation lines 131, 132 follow the same layout, but the distances from the corners are between one half and seven eighths the length of the shortest side. The distances may, however, be any suitable amounts. As shown in FIG. 6, in another variation the measurements may be based on the length of each side, where if the corners were assigned arbitrarily numbers from one to four in a clockwise direction, the food wrap sheet 100 includes a perforated line 141 in the sheet 1 extending from a point on the first side of the food wrap sheet 100 that is a distance 111 of between one eighth and one half of the way from corner one 101 towards corner two 102, wherein the perforated line 141 extends diagonally to a point on the adjacent side of the food wrap sheet 100 a distance 112 of between one half and seven eighths of the way along the adjacent side of the food wrap sheet 100 from corner two 102 towards corner three 103, wherein the food wrap sheet 100 comprises a second perforated line 142 from a point a distance 113 of between one eighth and one half of the way from corner three 103 towards corner four 104 on the third side of the sheet 1, extending diagonally to a point on the fourth side of the sheet 1 that is a distance 114 of between one half and seven eighths of the way from corner four 104 towards corner one 101. Preferably these ratios would be in pairs where the longer distances would be the same ratio and the shorter distances would be the same ratio. However, the ratios can each be different. As shown in FIGS. 8 and 9, the at least two perforation lines preferably are laid out such that when the food wrap sheet 100 is wrapped around a food item 2, the at least two perforation lines 3 run circumferentially around the food item 2.

As shown in FIG. 7, preferably there are at least one additional perforated line 151 running roughly perpendicular to the at least two longer perforation lines, and running between the at least two longer perforation lines. This additional perforation lines 151 may allow a user to tear the food wrap sheet 100 down the length of the food item 2 progressively as the user consumes the food item 2. The additional perforation line may, however, be used for any suitable purpose. In another preferred variation, there are at least two additional perforated lines 151, separated in the space between the at least two longer perforated lines 153. In another preferred variation, the at least two perforated lines 151 are separated roughly equally from each other and from the corners of the food wrap sheet 100 in the space between the two longer perforated lines 153. As shown in FIGS. 10 and 11, the additional perforation lines are preferably laid out so that when the food wrap sheet 100 is wrapped around a food item 2, the additional perforation lines run roughly parallel to the long axis of the food item 2. The additional perforated lines 151 are preferably spaced out in the area between the two longer perforated lines 153. In a preferred variation, the additional perforated lines 151 are spaced to be roughly equidistant between each other and at least one of a) the corners and b) the sides of the food wrap sheet 100. In another variation, there at least three additional perforated lines 151, and the center line is laid out to be roughly at the middle of the food item 2 when the food wrap sheet 100 is wrapped around the food item 2. In this variation, the user may easily remove either end 7 of the food wrap sheet 100, or separate the food sheet 1 in the middle. In this variation, the same food wrap sheet 100 may be used both for food items 2 that are generally eaten from one end 6 and for food items 2 that are generally served cut in half. The food wrap sheet 100 may, however, have any suitable layout and number of additional perforation lines. The additional perforation lines may have any suitable layout. The user may utilize the additional perforation lines in any suitable manner. There may, however, be no additional perforation lines at all.

As a person skilled in the art will recognize from the previous detailed description and from the figures and claims, modifications and changes can be made to the preferred embodiments of the invention without departing from the scope of this invention defined in the following claims.

Claims

1) A food wrap sheet comprising a rectangular sheet made of food safe material, wherein the quadrilateral sheet is adapted to be at least one of a) wrapped and b) folded around a food item, wherein a portion of the sheet is perforated to allow a user to more easily tear away the wrap.

2) The food wrap sheet of claim 1, wherein the perforated portion of the sheet is positioned on the food wrap sheet such that when the food wrap sheet is wrapped around the food item, the perforated portion of the sheet will be located such that tearing along the perforations will remove the wrapping from the portion of the food item that would generally be consumed first.

3) The food wrap sheet of claim 1, wherein the perforated portion of the sheet is positioned on the food wrap sheet such that when the food wrap sheet is wrapped around the food item, the perforations will be located no closer to the ends of the food item than within one eighth of the length of the food item.

4) The food wrap sheet of claim 1, wherein the perforated portion of the sheet is positioned on the food wrap sheet such that when the food wrap sheet is wrapped around the food item, the perforations will be located no closer to the ends of the food item than within one fourth of the length of the food item.

5) The food wrap sheet of claim 3, wherein when the food wrap sheet is wrapped around the food item and the food item is held vertically by a user for consumption the perforation portion of the sheet is above the bottom one eighth of the food item, where the position of the perforations when the food item is held by the user for consumption avoids significant risk of leakage of fluid components from the food item due to gravity.

6) The food wrap sheet of claim 4, wherein when the food wrap sheet is wrapped around the food item and the food item is held vertically by a user for consumption the perforation portion of the sheet is above the bottom one fourth of the food item, where the position of the perforations when the food item is held by the user for consumption avoids significant risk of leakage of fluid components from the food item due to gravity.

7) The food wrap sheet of claim 3, wherein if the corners were assigned arbitrarily numbers from one to four in a clockwise direction, the food wrap sheet comprises a perforated line in the sheet extending from a point on a first side of the food wrap sheet to between one eighth and one half of the way from corner one towards corner two, wherein the perforated line extends diagonally to a point between one half and seven eighths of the way up the adjacent side of the food wrap sheet from corner two towards corner three, wherein the food wrap sheet comprises a second perforated line from a point between one eighth and one half of the way from corner three to corner four on the third side of the sheet, extending diagonally to a point on the fourth side of the sheet that is between one half and seven eighths of the way from corner four to corner one.

8) The food wrap sheet of claim 4, wherein if the corners were assigned arbitrarily numbers from one to four in a clockwise direction, the food wrap sheet comprises a perforated line in the sheet extending from a point on a first side of the food wrap sheet to between one eighth and one half of the way from corner one towards corner two, wherein the perforated line extends diagonally to a point between one half and seven eighths of the way up the adjacent side of the food wrap sheet from corner two towards corner three, wherein the food wrap sheet comprises a second perforated line from a point between one eighth and one half of the way from corner three to corner four on the third side of the sheet, extending diagonally to a point on the fourth side of the sheet that is between one half and seven eighths of the way from corner four to corner one.

9) The food wrap sheet of claim 2, wherein if the corners were assigned arbitrarily numbers from one to four in a clockwise direction, the food wrap sheet comprises a perforated line in the sheet extending from a point on a first side of the food wrap sheet a distance of between one eighth and one half of the length of the shortest side of the food wrap sheet from corner one towards corner two, wherein the perforated line extends diagonally to a point a distance of between one eighth and one half of the length of the shortest side of the food wrap sheet from corner three towards corner two, wherein the food wrap sheet comprises a second perforated line from a point that is on the third side of the food wrap sheet a distance of between one eighth and one half of the length of the shortest side of the food wrap sheet from corner three towards corner four, extending diagonally to a point on the fourth side of the sheet that is a distance of between one eighth and one half of the length of the shortest side of the food wrap sheet from corner one towards corner four, wherein each of the four distances are the same.

10) The food wrap sheet of claim 2, wherein the perforated portion of the sheet makes consuming the food item easier for the user, wherein the user can easily remove one end of the wrap from the food item after tearing along at least one perforated line.

11) The food wrap sheet of claim 3, wherein the perforated portion of the sheet makes consuming the food item easier for the user, wherein the user can easily remove one end of the wrap from the food item after tearing along at least one perforated line.

12) The food wrap sheet of claim 7, wherein the perforated portion of the sheet makes consuming the food item easier for the user, wherein the user can easily remove one end of the wrap from the food item after tearing along at least one perforated line.

13) The food wrap sheet of claim 9, wherein the perforated portion of the sheet makes consuming the food item easier for the user, wherein the user can easily remove one end of the wrap from the food item after tearing along at least one perforated line.

14) The food wrap sheet of claim 12, further comprising at least one additional perforated line extending roughly perpendicularly between the previously stated two perforated lines.

15) The food wrap sheet of claim 14, wherein the additional perforated line makes it easier for the user to progressively tear away the food wrap sheet as they consume the food item.

16) The food wrap sheet of claim 3, comprising at least two longer perforated lines and at least one additional perforated line extending roughly perpendicularly between the longer perforated lines, wherein the longer perforated lines are adapted such that when the food wrap sheet is wrapped around a food item the longer perforated lines run generally circumferentially around the food item, wherein the at least two additional perforated lines are separated along the space between the at least two longer perforated lines.

17) The food wrap sheet of claim 16, wherein the additional perforated line make it easier for the user to progressively tear away the food wrap sheet as they consume the food item.

18) The food wrap sheet of claim 14, wherein the additional perforated lines make it easier for the user to progressively tear away the food wrap sheet as they consume the food item.

19) The food wrap sheet of claim 14, wherein the at least two additional perforated lines are roughly equidistant between the corners and the other additional perforated lines.

20) The food wrap sheet of claim 2, wherein if the corners were assigned arbitrarily numbers from one to four in a clockwise direction, the food wrap sheet comprises a perforated line in the sheet extending from a point on a first side of the food wrap sheet that is between one eighth and one half of the way from corner one towards corner two, wherein the perforated line extends diagonally to a point on the adjacent side of the food wrap sheet that is between one half and seven eighths of the way along the adjacent side of the food wrap sheet from corner two towards corner three, wherein the food wrap sheet comprises a second perforated line from a point between one eighth and one half of the way from corner three towards corner four on the third side of the sheet, extending diagonally to a point on the fourth side of the sheet that is between one half and seven eighths of the way from corner four towards corner one.
