Description
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

1. Field of the Invention

The present invention relates to throwing trap technology and more particularly, to a safety ring support for throwing trap, which facilitates mounting and dismounting simply by hand without tools.

2. Description of the Related Art

A throwing trap main unit 60 of a throwing trap 6 generally comprises a drive shaft (not shown) having a connection rack, a throwing arm (not shown) fastened to the connection rack by fastening members 61. When the drive shaft is rotated, the throwing arm will be driven to swing, causing the clay to be thrown out of a holding target plate by means of centrifugal force. Thus, the user can shoot the flying clay, proceeding with shooting training. For safety's sake, the throwing trap main unit 60 is equipped with a safety ring support 8. For the mounting of the safety ring support 8, the throwing trap main unit 60 is configured to provide two pairs of screw holes 601 (see FIG. 1) at two opposite lateral sides near the front end thereof, and two connectors 602 at the two opposite lateral sides near the opposing rear end thereof. The safety ring support comprises two support arms 9 and a flexible tube member 80. Each support arm 9 has two mounting through holes 911 located at a front end 91 thereof and a locating ring 92 located at an opposing rear end and defining therein an insertion hole 921. Threaded shanks 7311,7321 of screws 731,732 are respectively inserted through the mounting through holes 911 of the support arms 9 and driven into the respective screw holes 601 at the throwing trap main unit 60 using a screw driver (see FIG. 2). The two opposite ends 801 of the flexible tube member 80 are respectively inserted through the insertion holes 921 of the locating rings 92 of the support arms 9 and then respectively fastened to the connectors 602 near the throwing trap main unit 60, finishing the installation of the safety ring support 8 (see FIG. 3)

However, the aforesaid prior art safety ring support has drawbacks as follows:

  • 1. When wishing to dismount the two support arms 9 for storage, packing or delivery, a hand tool must be used to dismount the screws 731,732, allowing removal of the two support arms 9 from the throwing trap main unit 60. This dismounting operation is complicated. If a hand tool is not available, the user cannot dismount the two support arms 9, and can simply dismount the flexible tube member 80 from the support arms 9 and the throwing trap main unit 60, and then turn the throwing arm back into the inside of the throwing trap main unit 60, at this time, the throwing trap 6 still occupies a large space area, not convenient for storage or delivery.
  • 2. The two support arms 9 are made of metal plate members using a stamping technique. In fabrication, the front end 91 of each support arm 9 is bent into shape and stamped to provide the desired mounting through holes 911, and the opposing rear end of each support arm 9 is stamped to form the desired locating ring 92 with an insertion hole 921 defined therein. Thus, the fabrication cost of the support arms 9 is high.
  • 3. It needs to make two screw holes 601 at each of the opposing left and right sides of the throwing trap main unit 60, increasing the processing cost and installation labor and time.

FIG. 7 illustrates an operation status of the throwing trap after installation of the safety ring support in the throwing trap main unit according to the present invention.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

Referring to FIGS. 4-7, a safety ring support in accordance with the present invention is shown used in a throwing trap 3. The throwing trap 3 (see FIG. 7) comprises a throwing trap main unit 30 (see FIGS. 4-7) adapted for driving a throwing arm 1 to swing and to throw a clay 2 out of the holding target plate 11 thereof by means of centrifugal force subject to the operation of a push force plate 12 so that the user can aim at the flying clay 2 to perform a shooting training. Further, as illustrated in FIG. 7, the throwing trap 3 further comprises a front support 32. The safety ring support comprises two support arms 4 and a flexible tube member 50. The support arms 4 have respective one ends 41 thereof (see FIG. 4) respectively fastened to respective screw holes 301 at two opposite lateral sides of the throwing trap main unit 30 of the throwing trap 3 (see FIG. 4) near a front end of the throwing trap main unit 30, and respective opposite ends thereof respectively terminating in a locating ring 42 that defines therein an insertion hole 421. The flexible tube member 50 has two opposite ends 501 thereof respectively inserted through the insertion holes 421 of the locating rings 42 of the support arms 4 and then respectively connected to respective connectors 302 at the two opposite lateral sides of the throwing trap main unit 30 near an opposing rear end of the throwing trap main unit 30, and thus, the flexible tube member 50 forms a safety ring 5 (see FIGS. 6 and 7).

The main feature of the present invention is outlined hereinafter.

The one end 41 of each support arm 4 is a threaded end piece (see FIG. 4) for threading into one respective screw hole 301 at the left or right side of the throwing trap main unit 30 (see FIG. 4) conveniently by hand without tools. Thus, mounting and dismounting of the support arms 4 can easily and conveniently be achieved without tools, facilitating storage of dismounted safety ring support. Further, the support arms 4 are made of a rigid metal wire rod, such as iron wire rod, stainless steel wire rod, or aluminum alloy wire rod, each having one end 41 machined to provide an outer thread and the other end bent into a ring shape to form the locating ring 42 with an insertion hole 421 defined therein. Thus, the support arms 4 have the characteristics of simple structure, ease of machining and low processing cost. As the throwing trap main unit 30 needs only to provide a screw hole at each of the opposing left and right sides, the manufacturing cost of the throwing trap 3 can be relatively reduced.

In conclusion, the invention has the advantages and effects as follows:

1. The two support arms 4 are easily mountable and dismountable without tools.

2. The user can dismount the support arms 4 by hand without tools whenever desired, facilitating storage of the safety ring support.

3. The support arms 4 are made of a rigid metal wire rod, saving the machining cost.

4. The throwing trap main unit 30 needs only to provide one single screw hole 301 at each of the opposing left and right sides for the mounting of the support arms 4. When compared to the prior art design, the invention needs only to make one single screw hole at each of the two opposite sides of the throwing trap main unit 30 of the throwing trap 3, saving the cost.
