Description
BACKGROUND OF THE DISCLOSURE Field of the Disclosure

The disclosure relates to support devices and more particularly pertains to a new support device for supporting a user's back when the user bends over.

SUMMARY OF THE DISCLOSURE

An embodiment of the disclosure meets the needs presented above by generally comprising a vest that may be worn. A pair of pockets is provided and each of the pockets is coupled to the vest. A pair of panels is provided and each of the panels is removably insertable into an associated one of the pockets. Each of the panels is comprised of a resiliently bendable material. Thus, each of the panels may support the back when the user bends over thereby inhibiting the user from being injured when the user bends over.

There has thus been outlined, rather broadly, the more important features of the disclosure in order that the detailed description thereof that follows may be better understood, and in order that the present contribution to the art may be better appreciated. There are additional features of the disclosure that will be described hereinafter and which will form the subject matter of the claims appended hereto.

The objects of the disclosure, along with the various features of novelty which characterize the disclosure, are pointed out with particularity in the claims annexed to and forming a part of this disclosure.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS

The disclosure will be better understood and objects other than those set forth above will become apparent when consideration is given to the following detailed description thereof. Such description makes reference to the annexed drawings wherein:

FIG. 1 is an exploded perspective view of a bodily support assembly according to an embodiment of the disclosure.

FIG. 2 is a front view of an embodiment of the disclosure.

FIG. 3 is a right side view of an embodiment of the disclosure.

FIG. 4 is a cross sectional view taken along line 4-4 of FIG. 1 of an embodiment of the disclosure.

FIG. 5 is an in-use view of an embodiment of the disclosure.

DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENT

With reference now to the drawings, and in particular to FIGS. 1 through 5 thereof, a new support device embodying the principles and concepts of an embodiment of the disclosure and generally designated by the reference numeral 10 will be described.

As best illustrated in FIGS. 1 through 5, the bodily support assembly 10 generally comprises a vest 12 that may be worn. The vest 12 has a back side 14, a pair of lateral sides 16 and a front side 18. The front side 18 is longitudinally split to define a first mating edge 20 and a second mating edge 22. Thus, the vest 12 may be worn around a torso having the back side 14 covering a back of a user. Each of the front side 18 and the back side 14 is comprised of a resiliently stretchable material.

The vest 12 has an outer surface 24 and an inner surface 26. A first coupler 28 is provided and the first coupler 28 is coupled to the outer surface 24. The first coupler 28 is coextensive with the first mating edge 20. A flap 30 extends away from the second mating edge 22 the flap 30 is substantially coextensive with the second mating edge 22.

A second coupler 32 is coupled the inner surface 26 corresponding to the flap 30 and the second coupler 32 is coextensive with the flap 30. The first coupler 28 and the second coupler 32 are complementary. Thus, the first 20 and second 22 mating edges are matable to each other thereby retaining the vest 12 on the torso. Each of the first coupler 28 and the second coupler 32 may comprise a hook and loop fastener or the like. The flap 30 may be extended a selected distance beyond the first mating edge 20 when the vest 12 is worn. Thus, the vest 12 may accommodate a variety of torso sizes.

Each of the lateral sides 16 has an associated one of a pair of holes 34 extending therethrough and each of the holes 34 may have an arm extended therethrough. The vest 12 has a waist portion 36. The waist portion 36 extends upwardly from a bottom edge 38 of the vest 12 toward a middle 40 of the vest 12. The waist portion 36 is coextensive with the bottom edge 38. The waist portion 36 surrounds hips when the vest 12 is worn and the waist portion 36 is comprised of a resiliently stretchable material. Thus, the waist portion 36 inhibits the vest 12 from sliding upwardly on the torso when the user bends over.

A pair of pockets 42 is provided and each of the pockets 42 is coupled to the vest 12. Each of the pockets 42 is positioned on the back side 14 and the pockets 42 are spaced apart from each other. Each of the pockets 42 is longitudinally oriented on the back side 14. Each of the pockets 42 extends substantially between the waist portion 36 and a collar 44 of the vest 12. Each of the pockets 42 has a top end 46 and the top end 46 of each of the pockets 42 is open.

A pair of panels 48 is provided and each of the panels 48 is removably insertable into an associated one of the pockets 42. Each of the panels 48 is comprised of a resiliently bendable material. Thus, each of the panels 48 supports the user's back when the user bends over thereby inhibiting the user from being injured when the user bends over. Each of the panels 48 supports a percentage of the torso's weight when the user bends over. Thus, the user's lower back muscles are protected from injury while the user wears the vest 12.

In use, each of the panels 48 is insertably positioned within an associated one of the pockets 42. The vest 12 is worn around the user's torso and the first coupler 28 and the second coupler 32 are mated. The waist portion 36 frictionally engages the user's hips thereby inhibiting the vest 12 from sliding upwardly on the user's torso. Each of the panels 48 supports a percentage of the torso's weight when the user bends over. Thus, the user's lower back muscles are protected from injury.

With respect to the above description then, it is to be realized that the optimum dimensional relationships for the parts of an embodiment enabled by the disclosure, to include variations in size, materials, shape, form, function and manner of operation, assembly and use, are deemed readily apparent and obvious to one skilled in the art, and all equivalent relationships to those illustrated in the drawings and described in the specification are intended to be encompassed by an embodiment of the disclosure.

Therefore, the foregoing is considered as illustrative only of the principles of the disclosure. Further, since numerous modifications and changes will readily occur to those skilled in the art, it is not desired to limit the disclosure to the exact construction and operation shown and described, and accordingly, all suitable modifications and equivalents may be resorted to, falling within the scope of the disclosure. In this patent document, the word “comprising” is used in its non-limiting sense to mean that items following the word are included, but items not specifically mentioned are not excluded. A reference to an element by the indefinite article “a” does not exclude the possibility that more than one of the element is present, unless the context clearly requires that there be only one of the elements.
