CONDITIONING COMB

An improved conditioning comb that allows a user to distribute conditioner or other desired hair care liquid uniformly throughout their hair is disclosed. The conditioning comb is made of parts including a wide tooth and hard plastic comb attachment. The conditioning comb further consists of a detachable holding section that can be refilled with either a cartridge or other kind of liquids as desired by the user. In a preferred embodiment, the conditioning comb consists of a trigger pull or button to distribute the liquid through holes defined by the wide tooth comb.

Description
FIELD OF THE INVENTION

The present invention relates to a conditioning comb. More particularly, a conditioning comb that distributes conditioner uniformly throughout the hair that is able to store and continuously apply a liquid while being applied throughout a user's hair.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

Generally, hairstylist and other people struggle with the correct usage of shampoo and conditioner. They are unaware about the right amount of hair care products that are required for effective hair care. Also, by and large people wonder why their hair ends are dry inspite of using best hair products. The reason is the erratic distribution of the hair care products on the hair, ending up in just piling the conditioner on top and not distributing it to the ends where it really needs to be. Combs and brushes used for grooming and styling of hair are well known in the prior art. Additionally, fluid-dispensing devices used during the grooming and styling processes are also well known in the art, particularly in medical, cosmetic and pet industries. In one setting, adults often have to wet and wash a child's hair to detangle the unruly knots that may form, particularly in the case with a child that has long hair.

There are well known devices relating to combination brush and hairspray systems for the purpose of allowing a user to simultaneously brush and apply hairspray to the hair with only one hand. These devices typically incorporate a pump having an electric motor connected to it, which requires the use of batteries. However, these devices require many internal components that require maintenance and constant repair. Devices related to fluid dispensing combs, rather than brushes, are also well known. Some of these known devices relate to a fluid dispensing comb that uses an absorbent pad-type reservoir for storing and dispensing hair products. Other devices are adapted to be used to groom animal hair or fur. With many of the known fluid dispensing combs, the combs are designed to include detachable or disposable parts which are difficult and costly to manufacture and complicated to use.

There have been many prior art patents that solve the above described problem relating to conditioning combs as follows: U.S. patent publication 20120279513 issued to Blauser et al., which teaches a device for facilitating the combing of hair. The device includes several teeth extending from a lower side of the device opposite a fluid tight reservoir. The reservoir is adapted to expel a fluid when compressed. During operation the fluid is made to exit the device by compressing the reservoir forcing the fluid out of apertures formed between the teeth wherein the fluid facilitates moving the teeth through hair for easier combing. U.S. Pat. No. 7,509,925 issued to Embry describes a pet bathing device for the shampooing or bathing of pets, including dogs and horses. The bathing device includes a distribution head that is attached to a hose and an additive reservoir that allows for the sudsing of the coat directly through the comb and has a handle designed to fit easily in the hand while currying a pet. A fluid hose or other fluid supply system is attached, either directly or through an adaptor, to a fluid conduit which runs through the bathing device and directs fluid and/or additive to the curry head. A shutter is located between the fluid conduit and the additive reservoir which can be turned on or off to allow fluid to flow past the additive reservoir.

U.S. Pat. No. 6,244,273 issued to Higgins discloses a comb that is attachable to a faucet to allow water to run through the comb's hollow-shaped inner body. The water travels through the faucet, plastic or rubbertubing of the comb's inner body and exits through the comb's hollow-shaped teeth with an exit portal at the tip. The comb's two assemblies are a shower adapter, essentially tubing for the shower arm and connector on the comb, and the water holes, allowing water to flow through the comb. The shower adapter also has a bi-directional valve on it to direct water either to the comb or the shower head. U.S. Pat. No. 6,047,703 issued to Paglericcio et al., discloses a device for dispensing fluid which evenly applies fluid products to hair while the hair is being separated by the device. Combing is thereby facilitated and assisted by dispensing conditioner with the device. The device comprises a head, a plurality of teeth and a handle connected to the head. The teeth are removably attached to a front plate of the head. A shock absorber element provides an interface between a back plate of the head and the front plate. Flexibility of the front plate and removability of the teeth provide an improved combing/fluid dispensing device. U.S. Pat. No. 5,649,502 issued to Frank is a device for washing an animal which includes a housing having a water inlet and a water outlet. The device further includes a head plate mounted on the housing in the vicinity of the water outlet. The head plate has a base and a plurality of outwardly extending flexible hollow robes which are formed with the base. The hollow tubes are hydraulically connected to the housing.

While the aforementioned devices may be useful for the purposes in which they were intended, these devices have some drawbacks. For a number of reasons, including ease of use and cost-effectiveness, it is becoming increasingly important to provide a conditioning comb that remedies the shortcomings of the known art. Additionally, there is an unmet need of providing a comb that facilitates the application of a liquid, such as a conditioner, to an individual's hair.

SUMMARY

An improved conditioning comb that allows a user to distribute conditioner or other desired hair care liquid uniformly throughout their hair is disclosed. The conditioning comb is made of parts including a wide tooth and hard plastic comb attachment. The conditioning comb further consists of a detachable holding section that can be refilled with either a cartridge or other kind of liquids as desired by the user. In a preferred embodiment, the conditioning comb consists of a trigger pull or button to distribute the liquid through holes defined by the wide tooth comb.

It is an object of thye present invention to provide a conditioning comb that is available in different sizes for different hair needs.

Numerous objects, features and advantages of the present invention will be readily apparent to those of ordinary skill in the art upon a reading of the following detailed description of presently preferred, but nonetheless illustrative, embodiments of the present invention when taken in conjunction with the accompanying drawings.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

Referring now to FIGS. 1 through 3, there is shown and illustrated a conditioning comb 10 in accordance with present invention. The conditioning comb 10 consists of two sections: a head section 20 at the upper end and a holding section 30 at the bottom or distal end. More particularly, the components as shown in FIGS. 1 and 2 of the conditioning comb 10 are : a comb head 22, bristles 18, a detachable housing or holding section 30, connecting point 24 between comb head 20 and the holding section 30, a tube 40 that brings liquid to the comb and a button or trigger pull 50.

Referring now to FIG. 3, in a preferred embodiment the head section 20 is provided with a plurality of holes 28 which are ¼ to ¾ inches in diameter. Further there may be a trigger pull or bush button 50 that brings the liquid filled inside the holding section 30 up through the tube 40 to reach the comb head 22 and distribute the liquid uniformly on the hair and scalp of the user. Furthermore the detachable holding section 30 may be attached to the head section 20 at the connecting point 24 by simple threading provided at the connecting point 24 and further which can be operated by simple squeezing or pumping the product into the bottle. In a preferred embodiment of the invention a the tube 40 may be a cartridge 40 and may be used such that the cartridge 40 has a port that it fits into and when the button or trigger 50 is pushed or pulled, it will transfer the liquid from the cartridge 40 of conditioner (not shown) to the comb head 22. Further the cartridge 40 will be easy to insert and take out using a screw or threaded mechanism 26 on top of the port of head section 20. In another preferred embodiment of the invention the comb head 22 is provided with a plurality of holes 28 which are ¼ inch in diameter and used for uniform dispersion of the conditioner liquid or gel on the hair and scalp of the user. The holes 28 are defined and located on the comb head 22 under the bristles 18 for effective dispersion of conditioning liquid while combing hair. In yet another preferred embodiment of the invention a spray bottle (not shown) is used to provide the liquid to the comb holes 28 using a pump or optionally a straw (not shown) operated by a button or trigger (not shown) to pull the hair care product up to reach the holes 28. In still yet another preferred embodiment of the invention the connecting point 24 may be a snap and lock type of locking arrangement between the head 20 and holding section 30.

The method of using the conditioning comb of the invention includes the following steps :

1. Opening the threaded connecting point of the holding section attached to the comb in the system.

2. Filling the holding section with desired liquid (i.e conditioner or gel).

3. Closing the holding section using the threaded connecting point back onto the comb attachment.

4. Pulling the trigger or pushing the button to distribute the liquid from the holding section.

5. Combing the hair and distribute uniformly the gel or liquid on the hair and scalp.

In summary, the invention is directed to a conditioning comb that allows the user to distribute conditioner or other desired hair care liquid uniformly throughout their hair. The conditioning comb is made of parts including a wide tooth and hard plastic comb attachment. The comb further consists of a detachable housing or a holding section or a bottle that can be refilled with either a cartridge or other kind of liquids as desired by the user. Also the comb consists of a trigger pull or button to distribute the liquid from the bottle through holes in the wide tooth comb. Moreover, the conditioning comb allows the user to distribute conditioner or desired liquid throughout their hair and eliminate the struggle that people generally face with the correct usage of shampoo and conditioner and end up in piling the conditioner on top part of hair and not distributing it to the ends where it really needs to be. It should be understood that any other type of comb may also be incorporated with the holes to apply hair care liquids, including but not limited to conditioners, shampoos, hair oils, gels etc.

Therefore, the foregoing is considered as illustrative only of the principles of the invention. Further, since numerous modifications and changes will readily occur to those skilled in the art, it is not desired to limit the invention to the exact construction and operation shown and described, and accordingly, all suitable modifications and equivalents may be resorted to, falling within the scope of the invention.

Claims

1. A conditioning comb comprising:

A head section at an upper end, said head section having comb head having a plurality of bristles and defining a plurality of holes wherein said plurality of holes are defined and located on said head section under said plurality of said bristles; and
a holding section at a bottom end attached to said head section having a connecting point, a tube and a push button wherein said holding section stores and said head section continuously applies a liquid through hair.

2. The conditioning comb according to claim 1, wherein said push button is a trigger pull.

3. The conditioning comb according to claim 1, wherein said tube is located inside said holding section and delivers a liquid from said holding section to said head section.

4. The conditioning comb according to claim 1, wherein said holding section is detachable from said head section for refilling at said connecting point.

5. The conditioning comb according to claim 1, wherein said push button is used to distribute a liquid from said holding section through said plurality of holes onto hair.

6. The conditioning comb according to claim 1, wherein said connecting point is simple threading for connecting said head section to said holding section.

7. The conditioning comb according to claim 1, wherein said connecting point is a snap and lock type of locking arrangement for connecting said head section to said holding section.

8. The conditioning comb according to claim 1, wherein the liquid is selected from a group of hair care liquids, conditioners, shampoos, hair oils and gels.

9. The conditioning comb according to claim 1, wherein said head section is available in different sizes for different hair needs.

10. A method of using a conditioning comb comprising the steps of:

opening a threaded connecting point of a holding section attached to a head section;
filling said holding section with a desired liquid;
closing said holding section to said head section using said threaded connecting point;
pulling a trigger to distribute the liquid from said holding section; and
combing hair while distributing uniformly a gel or liquid onto hair and scalp.

11. A method of using a conditioning comb comprising the steps of:

opening a threaded connecting point of a holding section attached to a head section;
filling said holding section with a desired liquid;
closing said holding section to said head section using said threaded connecting point;
pushing a button to distribute the liquid from said holding section; and
combing hair while distributing uniformly a gel or liquid onto hair and scalp.
