Multi-purpose smart Pillow and the method of manufacturing of the same
This invention is about a novel design of a multi-purpose smart pillow and the manufacturing method of the smart pillow. The present invention consists of three main embodiments including a smart pillow two layers cover with special hidden opening and closure mechanism; an inside arrangement for multilayer fillers with different softness; and a removable external cover sheet for the smart pillow. This smart pillow solved the problem of required multiple softness(s) levels for using same pillow with easy cleaning mechanism.
The present invention discloses a novel process and design of a multi-purpose pillow. This pillow cover is made up of natural or artificial fabric having a hidden opening and closing mechanism. The multilayer filling makes the pillow two sides with different softness level at the same time. This is potential invention for hospitals and other commercial sectors like hotels.
BACKGROUND ARTConventionally, the outer cover of pillows are made up of any flexible natural or artificial fabric where three side are permanently closed by stitching etc. The forth side of the outer cover is used for one type of filling the material like foam, cotton, natural or foamy tiny balls like structure. After filing the forth side of the outer cover of pillow is either closed permanently by sewing or closed by application of zipper or Velcro like items on the edges of the outer cover of the pillow.
The application of closure item at edges of the outer cover of pillow make it's a non-pleasant appearance and cause irritation during its use. The cover of pillow are filled with only one type of filler material with specific softness and height. However, its use require two different softness, one for use during normal sitting (comparative with less softness) and other for sleeping that require more softness. The conventional pillow fails to provide two features at the same time by use of singe pillow.
SUMMARYThe present disclosure is about novel design of a multipurpose smart pillow. This has smart look by easy hidden opening and closing mechanism while this easy closure mechanism makes the adjustable the thickness or height of pillow as customize as required. It has option to fill with more than one filling materials. The two sides of the same pillow has different softness levels. Easy maintenance of cleanness with External removable covers option. The kit has also packets of filler material.
The drawings are accompanied with this specification for the purpose of better disclosure of the present invention. These drawings are enclosed herewith and are part of description. These illustrations made, along with the description help to explain the steps and principles of the present disclosure as under:—
The novel invention is a value addition in the conventional pillow design and use. It also provides solutions to the technical problems of the conventional pillow as indicated in the above section of background of the invention.
This invention consists of two components i.e a stitched two layers cover of pillow, and a filler kit having a set of separators and at least two packets of filler material from available variety; and a set of optional external covers or flaps.
The two layer cover of pillow having an easy hidden opening and closure mechanism. Easy opening option makes it possible to fill the pillow as per required thickness, height and softness. This Easy opening mechanism is located at hidden position i.e inside of the border of the two hemmed flaps of pillow side. This not only makes its appearance better but also fixing the problem of irritation during its use on sleeping.
Another embodiment of the invention is use of more than one filler materials in the same two layer cover of pillow. One side is filled with comparative soft filler material while other side is filed with less soft filler material. The fillers can be kept separate during filling by use of flexible net separators. This advance feature makes the multiple use of same pillow for normal sitting and sleeping etc.

The two layers cover of multipurpose smart pillow can be made any flexible material inducing but not limit to natural fiber, synthetic fiber, wool, natural or manmade leather and synthetic materials.
The filler material of multipurpose smart pillow can be used any flexible material inducing but not limit to natural fiber, synthetic fiber, wool, foam, foamy balls and other synthetic materials used for the purpose.
The strips used for opening and closure mechanism of the two layers cover of multipurpose smart pillow can be Velcro, soft zipper, pasting and other mechanism used for the purpose.
The separator used during the filing of the multipurpose smart pillow can be a piece of “FABRIC NET” made up of any flexible material like natural fiber, synthetic fiber, wool, nylon and other synthetic materials used for the purpose.
The multipurpose smart pillow can be designed of any size and shape as required. The multipurpose smart pillow offers two different softness levels at same time and hence it can be used in normal homes, hospitals, hotels, hostels, guest houses, transporters, passenger careers like airplane, train, ships and buses etc.
Claims
1. A multi-purpose smart pillow comprising of:
- a two layers pillow cover of a flexible material having four border sides; an upper surface and a lower surface, consisting of a central hollow portion and a border area separated by stitching line; wherein the border area of at least one the border side of the two layers pillow cover has an unstitched opening area;
- the opening area is towards the inner side of the border area and has pasted or stitched strips of closure mechanism on the inner sides of the two layers of the pillow cover that is hidden from outside;
- the central hollow portion of the two layers pillow cover is filled with at least one filler material using the closure mechanism; whereas when the central hollow portion is filled with more than one filler materials, the multiple filler materials are separated by using flexible net separator(s);
- at least an additional external cover or flap that can be easily attached and removed from the smart pillow, whereas the external cover or flap has two folded corners or sides on the edges to adjust the smart pillow as pillow case;
- a separate pillow filler kit, consisting of packets of the various filler materials, flexible net separators and additional external removable covers or flaps of the smart pillow.
2. The multi-purpose smart pillow of claim 1 wherein the flexible cover material of the two layers pillow cover and the external cover includes but not limited to a natural fiber, synthetic fiber, wool, natural or man made leather and synthetic materials.
3. The multi-purpose smart pillow of claim 1 wherein the filler material of the two layers pillow cover is a flexible material inducing but not limited to natural fiber, natural fillers, synthetic fiber, wool, foam, shredded foams and foamy balls.
4. The multi-purpose smart pillow of claim 1 wherein the strips of closure mechanism includes Velcro and soft zipper.
5. The multi-purpose smart pillow of claim 1 wherein the flexible net separator are made up of a flexible material like natural or synthetic fiber, wool and nylon.
6. The multi-purpose smart pillow of claim 1 wherein the two layers pillow cover is of various shapes including rectangle, cylindrical, square, oval or sphere and of various sizes.
7. The multi-purpose smart pillow of claim 1 wherein the unstitched opening area of the border is located at either border side or at two opposite or connected border sides.
8. A method of manufacturing of a multi-purpose smart pillow comprising of following steps:
- preparation of a two layers pillow cover of a flexible material having four border sides; an upper surface and a lower surface, consisting of a central hollow portion and a border area separated by stitching line; wherein the border area of at least one border side of the two layers pillow cover has an unstitched opening area; the opening area is towards inner side of the border area and has pasted or stitched strips of closure mechanism on inner sides of the two layers of the pillow cover that is hidden from outside;
- filling of the central hollow portion of the two layers pillow cover using the closure mechanism, with at least one filler material; whereas when the central hollow portion is filled with more than one filler materials, the multiple filler materials are separated by using flexible net separator(s);
- attaching at least an additional external cover or flap that can be easily attached and removed from the pillow, whereas the external cover or flap has two folded corners or sides on the edges to adjust the smart pillow as pillow case;
- preparation of a separate pillow filler kit, consisting of packets of the various filler materials, flexible net separators and additional external removable covers or flaps of the smart pillow.
9. The method of manufacturing of the multi-purpose smart pillow of claim 8 wherein the flexible cover material of the two layers pillow cover and the external cover or flap includes but not limited to a natural fiber, synthetic fiber, wool, natural or man made leather and synthetic materials.
10. The method of manufacturing of the multi-purpose smart pillow of claim 8 wherein the filler material of the two layers pillow cover is a flexible material inducing but not limited to natural fiber, synthetic fiber, wool, foam, shredded foam and foamy balls.
