COSMETIC POWDER CONTAINER

A cosmetic powder container includes a cover; a shell; and a hinge formed integrally with both the cover and the shell and connected thereto so that a predetermined angle of rotation between the cover and the shell is allowed. The hinge includes a flexible interconnection having one end formed with a side edge of the shell and the other end formed with a side edge of the cover. The shell includes a receptacle on a top. The invention can save assembly time and decrease manufacturing cost, and is reliable in use.

Description
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

1. Field of the Invention

The invention relates to cosmetic containers and more particularly to a cosmetic powder container including integrally formed cover and shell and having characteristics of saving assembly time and decreasing manufacturing cost, and being reliable in use.

2. Description of Related Art

Conventionally, make-up powder is stored in a cosmetic powder container for the purposes of decreasing time of exposing the powder to the atmosphere and portability.

A conventional cosmetic powder container 30 is shown in FIG. 8 and includes a first shell 31 having a knuckle 34 along a side edge, and a second shell 32 having two spaced knuckle members (not numbered) along a side edge. The knuckle 34 is received between the knuckle members so that a hinge pin 33 may be inserted into the cylindrical bores of the knuckle 34 and the knuckle members, thereby hingedly attaching the first and second shells 31, 32 together.

However, the conventional cosmetic powder container 30 suffers disadvantages including excessive number of components, time consuming and labor intensive assembly, relatively high cost of the metal hinge pin 33, and the knuckle 34 being liable to break.

Thus, the need for improvement still exists.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

It is therefore one object of the invention to provide a cosmetic powder container Comprising a cover; a shell; and a hinge formed integrally with both the cover and the shell and connected thereto so that a predetermined angle of rotation between the cover and the shell is allowed; wherein the hinge includes a flexible interconnection having one end formed with a side edge of the shell and the other end formed with a side edge of the cover; and wherein the shell includes a receptacle formed on a top.

The above and other objects, features and advantages of the invention will become apparent from the following detailed description taken with the accompanying drawings.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

Referring to FIGS. 1 to 7, a cosmetic powder container 10 in accordance with the invention comprises the following components as discussed in detail below.

A hexagonal cover 12, a hexagonal shell 14 and a hinge 18 are formed integrally. The hinge 18 includes a flexible interconnection 181 having one end formed with an intermediate portion on a side edge of the shell 14 and the other end formed with an intermediate portion on a side edge of the cover 12. The shell 14 includes a circular receptacle 141 formed on a top. The cover 12 includes a hexagonal opening 121 through a substantial portion thereof, and a hexagonal fitting member 122 fastened in the opening 121.

Preferably, the interconnection 181 has one end formed with an intermediate recessed portion on the side edge of the shell 14 and the other end formed with an intermediate recessed portion on the side edge of the cover 12.

The hinge 18 further includes two spaced bent members 182 on either end of the interconnection 181. The bent member 182 has one end formed integrally with the side edge of the shell 14 and the other end formed integrally with the side edge of the cover 12.

Preferably, the bent members 182 can increase structural strength of the container 10 so that the cover 12 and the shell 14 can be secured together. Otherwise, twist and/or obliqueness may occur.

The shell 14 further includes a disc shaped projection 142 formed on an underside, a plurality of mounting holes 1421 around the side edges of the shell 14, and a plurality of elongated cavities 1422 around the circular edge of the projection 142. A hexagonal mounting member 20 is releasably secured to the underside of the shell 14 and includes a plurality of tabs 201 on a top and two opposite bossed holes 202 each between two adjacent tabs 201. The tabs 201 are inserted into the cavities 1422 and the bossed holes 202 are inserted into the mounting holes 1421 for securing the mounting member 20 to the underside of the shell 14.

Preferably, a stem 161 is formed on an inner surface of the cover 12, a hole 162 is formed on a top surface of the shell 14, and the stem 161 is configured to insert into the hole 162 to secure the cover 12 and the shell 14 together when the container 10 is closed.

Preferably, an angle of the cover 12 with respect to the shell 14 is 120-degree when the container 10 is open.

Preferably, the fitting member 122 is a lens so that an individual may clearly see what is stored in the receptacle 141 through the fitting member 122.

Alternatively, the fitting member 122 is a mirror on an inner surface of the cover 12 so that an individual may see the face of himself/herself at the fitting member 122 after opening the container 10 for make-up.

Preferably, the cover 12 and the shell 14 are formed integrally with the cover 12 and the shell 14 being of the same color. Alternatively, the cover 12 and the shell 14 are formed integrally with the cover 12 and the shell 14 being of different colors. Both configurations can render an aesthetic appearance.

Alternatively, both the cover 12 and the shell 14 are of a shape different from the one shown in FIG. 1 or FIG. 2.

As shown in FIGS. 4 and 5 specifically, the interconnection 181 is bent. Thus, the cover 12 may pivot a maximum opening angle about the shell 14 by flexing the interconnection 181 when opening the container 10, and vice versa.

Preferably, the maximum opening angle is 120-degree.

Preferably, the receptacle 141 is configured to store cosmetic powder, face powder, and mascara.

While the invention has been described in terms of preferred embodiments, those skilled in the art will recognize that the invention can be practiced with modifications within the spirit and scope of the appended claims.

Claims

1. A cosmetic powder container comprising:

a cover;
a shell; and
a hinge formed integrally with both the cover and the shell and connected thereto so that a predetermined angle of rotation between the cover and the shell is allowed;
wherein the hinge includes a flexible interconnection having one end formed with a side edge of the shell and the other end formed with a side edge of the cover; and
wherein the shell includes a receptacle formed on a top.

2. The cosmetic powder container of claim 1, wherein the cover includes an opening through a portion thereof, and a fitting member fastened in the opening.

3. The cosmetic powder container of claim 1, wherein the interconnection has one end formed with an intermediate recessed portion on the side edge of the shell and the other end formed with an intermediate recessed portion on the side edge of the cover.

The cosmetic powder container of claim 1, wherein the hinge further comprises a plurality of bent members on either end of the interconnection, each of the bent members having one end formed integrally with the side edge of the shell and the other end formed integrally with the side edge of the cover.

The cosmetic powder container of claim 1, wherein the shell further comprises a projection formed on an underside, a plurality of mounting holes around the side edges of the shell, and a plurality of elongated cavities around the projection, further comprising a mounting member at a underside of the shell, the mounting member including a plurality of tabs on a top and a plurality of bossed holes each between two adjacent tabs, the tabs being configured to insert into the cavities and the bossed holes being configured to insert into the mounting holes for securing the mounting member to the underside of the shell.

The cosmetic powder container of claim 1, wherein the cover includes a stem formed on an inner surface thereof, wherein the shell comprises a hole member formed on a top surface thereof, and wherein the stem is configured to insert into the hole member to secure the cover and the shell together when the container is closed.

7. The cosmetic powder container of claim 2, wherein the fitting member is a lens.

8. The cosmetic powder container of claim 2, wherein the fitting member is a mirror on an inner surface of the cover.

9. The cosmetic powder container of claim 1, wherein the cover and the shell are formed integrally, the cover and the shell being of the same color.

10. The cosmetic powder container of claim 1, wherein the cover and the shell are formed integrally, the cover and the shell being of different colors.
