CONTAINER WITH A DEVICE FOR SETTING AND DISPLAYING A DISPLAY VALUE

A container, in some cases a drink container, with a device for setting and displaying a display value, comprises a marking element, a metal or magnetic strip, and a housing for the marking element. The marking element can be moved by a setting magnet located outside of the interior space of the container. A device for setting and displaying a total fluid intake is also described. Furthermore, the present disclosure relates to a method for setting and displaying a display value on a container.

Description
BACKGROUND Technical Field

The present disclosure provides a device for setting and displaying a display value, and a container, in some cases a drink container, with such a device. The present disclosure further provides a method for setting and displaying a display value on such a container.

Description of Related Art

A generic drink container of this kind is known from DE 103 23 996 B3. The drink container has a filling quantity scale, from which the filling quantity filled in the drink container can be read. The drink container further has a scale element, provided with a total fluid intake scale. The scale element has a metal or magnetic strip or a metal or magnetic film, which is glued to the drink container. A marking element comprises magnetic material or a magnet and is movable along the total fluid intake scale.

The known drink container has the disadvantage that the marking element can be unintentionally altered. The drink quantity set in each case can be unintentionally altered by, for example, patients suffering from dementia—for whom particular care must be taken that there is sufficient fluid intake—meaning that reliable drink quantity control is not possible. Therefore, this drink container cannot replace the written drinking protocol that must be followed in care homes, by way of example.

There is accordingly a need to provide a device for setting and displaying a display value, and a container with such a device, the device and the container both being no longer affected by the disadvantages of the prior art. There is also a need to provide a device for setting and displaying a display value, and a container with such a device, with which the set display value cannot be altered in an unintentional or unauthorized manner. And, there is also a need to provide a method for setting and displaying a display value, in which the set display value cannot be altered in an unintentional or unauthorized manner.

BRIEF SUMMARY AND INITIAL DESCRIPTION

Accordingly, the present disclosure provides a container, in some cases a drink container, with a device for setting and displaying a display value, comprising at least one container wall with an inner side and an outer side, a container floor and a, in some cases opposite, container opening, as well as a metal or magnetic element and a marking element, wherein the metal or magnetic element comprises magnetic material and/or metallic material and in some cases extends along a container wall. The marking element is supported in and/or under a housing and is movable by a, in some cases separate, setting magnet. In some further cases, the marking element is movable in a contactless way by magnetic force.

In a further suitable configuration, it is provided that the metal or magnetic strip has a sliding surface, on or along which the marking element is movably supported in the housing. In some cases the sliding surface extends along the outer side of the container wall from the direction of the container floor in the direction of the container opening. In some other cases the sliding surface has a substantially flat configuration and/or has no curvature along its longitudinal extension. Here it is, in some cases, provided that the marking element, when moved by the setting magnet, slides over the sliding surface and does not lose contact with the metal or magnetic strip during the movement.

The metal or magnetic element is, in some cases, a metal or magnetic strip. This offers a number of advantages. Firstly, a metal or magnetic strip allows a particularly good sliding surface to be provided, for movably supporting the marking element according to the present disclosure. Secondly, it has been shown that metal or magnetic strips adapt particularly well to the curvature of a container wall. In numerous suitable configurations, the container has curved outer walls, in some cases with a circular cross-section, wherein, however, it cannot be excluded that in certain other configurations the container wall is not curved, by way of example because the container has a rectangular cross-section.

It has proven in some cases expedient if the setting magnet exerts a higher magnetic force on the marking element than the metal or magnetic element, if the setting magnet is guided on the outer side of the container along the housing, in some cases so that a movement of the marking element with the setting magnet can be effectively brought about due to the higher magnetic force. In a specific application, it can be provided that the setting magnet is used by carers (or caretakers) to move the marking element. The container, which is provided to the person in need of care, thus has a marking element which can only be moved with the setting magnet, that is to say, only by carers in possession of the setting magnet. The magnetic forces between the marking element and the metal or magnetic element and between the marking element and the setting magnet in some cases involve an attraction force in each case. Essentially, however, experiments have shown that the marking element can similarly be moved by a repelling setting magnet.

In a further configuration, at least one of the metal or magnetic strips is many times longer than it is wide, in some cases at least twice as long as it is wide, and in some further cases at least three times longer than it is wide. It is also provided in a further configuration, that the metal or magnetic strip has a thickness that is less than the width. In one of these configurations according to the present disclosure the length of the metal or magnetic strip is at least 2 cm, in some cases at least 5 cm, and in some further cases 9-14 cm. The width of the metal or magnetic strip is in some cases less than 3 cm, in some further cases less than 2.5 cm, and in some other cases the width is in a range of 0.5-2 cm. The thickness of the metal or magnetic strip is in some cases less than 0.5 cm, in some further cases 0.3 cm, and in some other cases it is in the range 0.01 cm-0.25 cm.

In a suitable configuration, the average distance between container floor and container opening is 5-25 cm, and in some cases 10-15 cm. According to a suitable embodiment, the floor diameter is 3-5 cm and the diameter of the container opening 5-8 cm. Particular preference is for configurations in which the diameter of the container floor is smaller than the diameter of the container opening.

In some cases the marking element is supported so that it can slide on the metal or magnetic element. It should be pointed out that the sliding ability is not the same as the complete absence of sliding resistance. Forces act between the marking element and the metal or magnetic element, in some cases magnetic attraction forces and/or friction forces, such that they counteract a lateral movement. Only when these forces are overcome by the action of the setting magnet does the marking element slide over the metal or magnetic element.

Further, it is, in some cases, provided that the marking element comprises a magnetic material, in some cases a magnet, wherein the marking element is supported by a metal element. Although it is essentially possible to secure and move a metallic or magnetic marking element, it has instead proven advantageous to move a magnetic marking element on a metal element. In a suitable embodiment, the metal element can be a metal strip, e.g., a metal strip, which is not in itself magnetic, but is magnetizable. A metallic material is generally said to be magnetizable if it becomes magnetized itself in an external magnetic field. These magnetizable metals generally maintain this magnetization for a time after the external magnetic field has been removed. Particular preference is for a textile fabric, with a metallic or metal coating. It has been shown that such metal strips are more flexible and easier to attach to plastic surfaces. The amount of metal used can also be reduced. A metal strip comprising sheet metal is also suitable. The marking element in some cases comprises a neodymium magnet or a samarium-cobalt magnet or represents one. In some further cases the magnet is covered with a protective coating, in some cases with a lacquer coating, to prevent corrosion of the magnet.

The metal or magnetic element and/or the housing in some cases extend from the direction of the container floor in the direction of the container opening, in some cases along a longitudinal extension of the metal or magnetic element and the housing. In some further cases the metal or magnetic element and the housing extend parallel to one another along the longitudinal extension, in some cases along a straight line (e.g., linearly without a curve).

In one configuration of the container according to the present disclosure, at least one scale is attached to a container wall, to the metal element and/or to the housing, and extends in some cases from the direction of the container floor in the direction of the container opening. The scale is, in some cases, designed and aligned to display the daily consumed total drink quantity. It is, in some cases, also provided that the scale is arranged substantially parallel to the metal or magnetic element. In one embodiment, the scale can be attached in the form of lettering or by engraving on the container wall. The term scale used here merely means the existence of a display unit for conveying information. This does not directly entail scaling. By way of example, the term scale in this case comprises various predetermined setting possibilities to indicate the minimum drink quantity, the drink type, the drink quantity restriction, and/or the type of illness or the level of dementia of the user. With the help of the marking element a specific piece of information on the scale for the user or carers can be indicated or set.

The container, in some cases a drink container, according to the present disclosure, accordingly comprises in one embodiment a device for setting and displaying a display value, at least one container wall with an inner side and an outer side, a container floor and a, in some cases opposite, container opening, at least one metal or magnetic element, at least one marking element, and at least one housing. The metal element comprises or consists of magnetizable metallic material or the magnetic element comprises or consists of magnetic material. The at least one marking element comprises or consists of magnetizable metallic material, if as the at least one metal or magnetic element, the magnetic element comprising or consisting of magnetic material is present. Alternatively, the at least one marking element comprises or consists of magnetic material, if as the at least one metal or magnetic element, the metal element comprising or consisting of magnetizable metallic material or the magnetic element comprising or consisting of magnetic material is present, so that the at least one marking element and the at least one metal or magnetic element exert a magnetic attraction force on one another and the at least one marking element can be temporarily attached immovably to or on the at least one metal or magnetic element. The at least one marking element has a smaller surface extension than the at least one metal or magnetic element and is movable along the at least one metal or magnetic element, and the at least one metal or magnetic element in some cases extends along the at least one container wall of the container. The at least one housing is present in and/or on the container wall of the container and has an extension in and/or along this container wall, in some cases from or spaced away from the container floor in the direction of or as far as the container opening, and wherein the marking element is supported in and/or below the housing and is movable by a setting magnet, in some cases in a contactless way by magnetic force, along the at least one metal or magnetic element.

In a suitable configuration, the drink container has a volume of less than 1 l, in some cases a volume in the range of 100 to 600 ml, and in some further cases 200 to 450 ml. Here it can be provided that a fill mark for a drink level can be attached to the container, by way of example at 0.25 l.

In one configuration, the housing is configured as a housing open in the direction of the outer side of the container wall in the form of a cover, wherein the metal or magnetic element in some cases rests directly on the outer side of the container wall. The cover is, in some cases, a cover that is transparent completely or in sections, covering the metal or magnetic element. Here the metal or magnetic element is not completely enclosed, so that direct contact is enabled in the direction of the container wall. In such an embodiment, it is in some cases provided that the metal or magnetic element is a component of the container wall or is attached to the container wall, in some cases the outer side.

In a configuration of the open housing, it is in some cases provided that the cover has or comprises at least one housing wall, which comprises an inspection window and/or is at least partially transparent, in some cases wherein the cover is affixed to side walls, configured as one piece of the container wall, in some cases wherein the side walls have been obtained by injection molding from a hollow form for the outer walls with recesses for the side walls.

With said external application, it has proven advantageous if the metal or magnetic element rests directly on the container wall, in some cases being firmly attached with it. Here the metal or magnetic element can be glued or welded to the container wall and/or secured by the cover. It has been shown that a detachment of the metal element can be better prevented in this way. This is in some cases important, since even in the case of partial detachment there is a danger of the scale moving. Such particularly robust embodiments are advantageous for use in the care sector, where containers are subject to high stresses. Full integration into the container wall is also conceivable. In a further configuration, it is also conceivable for the metal element to be configured as a metal container wall, e.g., wherein the container consists of metal.

The cover is designed and arranged to cover the marking element. In an embodiment, the metal or magnetic element is, in some cases, also fully covered, which has the advantage that detachment of it is better prevented by the cover and better securing by the cover is possible. According to another suitable embodiment, the metal or magnetic element and the marking element are located in an interior space, which is delimited by the container wall and cover. In an alternative embodiment, the cover is narrower than the metal or magnetic element, so that this is not completely covered. Here, the cover is, in some cases, attached to the metal or magnetic element so that this protrudes laterally. In this case, it is suitable if the cover is configured as an interior space containing the marking element, delimited by the metal or magnetic element and the cover.

In a further configuration, it is provided that the cover divides the metal or magnetic element and/or the interior space into segments, wherein the cover has stop elements between segments. These are in some cases dividing walls, protruding from the cover in the direction of the outer side of the container wall, in some cases perpendicularly to the cover. It is also expedient if each segment configured in this way has at least one, in some cases precisely one, marking element.

In some cases, the housing encloses the marking element on at least four sides, in some cases on all sides, i.e., completely. This embodiment is referred to in the following as a closed housing and must be differentiated from an open housing in the form of a cover, which does not have its own wall in the direction of the outer side of the container wall. In some further cases, it is provided that a tunnel-shaped interior space is configured by the housing walls. Despite the closed housing, a movement of the marking element through contactless force by way of magnetic force continues to be possible. In a suitable configuration, it is provided that the closed housing is configured as a tube with an interior space, in some cases a tunnel-shaped interior space. In another suitable configuration, it is also provided that the tube has a rectangular cross-section, in some cases wherein the cross-section is adapted to the dimensions of the metal or magnetic element. It is in some cases provided that the housing is secured on the container, and that the metal or magnetic strip is located in the housing. In some further cases, it is provided that the closed housing has a housing wall, which is in extensive contact with the outer side of the container wall, in some cases glued or welded to this. In the case of welding, ultrasound, friction or laser welding is in some cases used. In the closed variant of the housing described above, it is sometimes suited if the housing has a first housing wall in the direction of the container wall and an opposite, in some cases turned away from the container wall, second housing wall, wherein the latter is in some cases transparent throughout or in sections. The first housing wall is in some cases curved, such that it rests directly against a similarly curved container wall. In some further cases, it is also provided that the first housing wall is glued or welded to the container wall. In the case of welding, ultrasound, friction or laser welding is rather suited.

According to at least one embodiment, the closed housing is designed in one piece. In an alternative embodiment, the closed housing comprises a plurality of parts. In some further cases, it is provided that a first housing wall rests against the container and a second housing wall does not rest against the container, wherein the second housing wall is transparent completely or in sections.

With the closed housing and/or with the open housing in the form of a cover it is in some cases provided that both the marking element and the metal or magnetic element is/are located in an interior space of the housing.

The housing, in some cases the closed housing or the cover, is in some cases configured such that contact with the marking element without a tool is not possible. According to further embodiments, it is provided that the marking element through housing walls and container walls and possibly other walls is enclosed in a fully closed interior space, i.e., an interior space, which in all directions has interior space walls. With the closed housing, these are in some cases configured by the walls of the housing itself, and with the cover in some cases both by the walls of the cover, and also, in some further cases on the reverse in the direction of the outer side of the container, by container wall or by the metal or magnetic element. According to a suitable embodiment, it is provided that the interior space of the housing has a tunnel-like or tubular configuration and is sealed at the ends, so that removal of the marking element is not possible, but movement along the tunnel or tube is possible. Such a construction effectively prevents unauthorized persons having access to the marking element, since they do not have the setting tool or the setting magnet. In a further configuration, the interior space is configured so that moisture and/or fluid cannot enter.

The marking element is in some cases disc-shaped, and in some further cases a disc-shaped setting magnet.

All components of the container are in some cases selected such that when immersed in steam and/or water with a temperature of 100° C., in some further cases of 120° C. with corresponding pressure burden, for 2 hours, they are not damaged, for example the marking function according to the present disclosure continues to function. The container therefore, in some cases, also comprises no circuitry or other powered devices.

In a suitable embodiment, the housing, in some cases the closed housing or the cover, has at least one housing wall comprising or forming an inspection window. According to another embodiment, it is provided that the inspection window has a longitudinal extension and extends across this longitudinal extension away from the direction of the container floor in the direction of the container opening.

Some suitable embodiments are provided in which the tube or the cover configures an interior space, in some cases a tunnel-shaped interior space, in some cases in and/or on the container wall, in some further cases on the container wall extending from the direction of the container floor in the direction of the container opening, and in some cases along the outer side. The interior space of the housing in some cases has a width and a height wherein the height is determined orthogonally to the container wall relating to the housing. The width is determined correspondingly orthogonally to the height. In a suitable configuration, it is provided that the width of the metal or magnetic element is smaller than the width of the interior space, but not more than 10% smaller, in some cases not more than 5% smaller, and in some further cases not more than 1% smaller. This has the advantage that a lateral movement of the metal or magnetic element is reduced or prevented by the dimensions of the interior space.

It has proven expedient if the container comprises a sealing cover, with which the container opening of the container can be sealed. The sealing cover in some cases comprises a drink container opening, in some further cases a beak-like, drink container opening.

In a further embodiment, the container comprises at least one further metal or magnetic element and at least one further marking element, supported in a further guide rail. Here, in some cases, a first metal or magnetic element with a first marking element and in some further cases, with at least one first scale is provided, wherein the container, in some cases on an opposite container wall, has at least one second metal or magnetic element with at least one second marking element. In such a configuration on a container wall of the drink container, in some cases an opposite container wall, in some cases at least one second scale is attached. Here it can be provided that is displayed on the first scale a daily total drink quantity, while the number of full beakers is recorded on an opposite second scale. The second or further metal or magnetic element and the second or further marking element are, for purposes of the present disclosure, arranged opposite the first metal or magnetic element and the first marking element when they are located at substantially opposite end points of the diameter of the container according to the present disclosure.

In the embodiments of the container according to the present disclosure, at least two first scales can also be provided with the first metal or magnetic element and the first marking element. Here the at least two first scales can be present on the same or, what is a preferred suitable embodiment, on opposite sides, in each case adjacent to the first metal or magnetic element and the first marking element. Here, on one side of the first metal or magnetic element and the first marking element, there can be a liter scale and on the other side of the first metal or magnetic element and the first marking element, i.e., opposite, a scale with the corresponding number of full beakers. If the first metal or magnetic element and the first marking element extend substantially vertically during generic placing of the container according to the present disclosure on a horizontal support, the liter scale can, for example, be attached to the left side and the scale with the corresponding number of full beakers on the right side of the first metal or magnetic element and first marking element. With this type of use of a plurality of first scales, the number of emptied beakers can provide a direct indication of the fluid quantity that has been drunk. By way of example, at the same level as the number of emptied beakers indicated on one scale, the corresponding quantity in liters can be read off on an adjacent scale. As the quantity in liters drunk can be simultaneously indicated, a condition can be created allowing the preparation of written drinking protocols to be dispensed with.

In a another embodiment of the container according to the present disclosure, comprising at least one further metal or magnetic element and at least one further marking element, which is supported in a further guide rail or a further housing, two first scales can be present on one or, in some cases, the opposite sides, for example on the right and the left side of the first metal or magnetic element and the first marking element, and moreover at least one first further scale on the further metal or magnetic element and the at least one further marking element. While in an expedient configuration the one first scale or the two first scales can be used to record details of the drink quantity, by way of example as described above, the at least one further scale, present with the further metal or magnetic element and the further marking element, can be used to record details such as the illness, degree of dementia, type of drink, minimum drink quantity, drink quantity restriction and the like. Via the further metal or magnetic element present in the second housing and the further marking element, and by the provision of setting or marking possibilities with the help of a further scale, in combination with the first metal or magnetic element present in the first housing and the first marking element, written drinking protocols in paper form can be rendered obsolete. The type and mounting of the first and second housing and the first and second metal or magnetic elements, and the first and second marking elements in the first or second housing, can be varied widely and adapted to the respective intended purpose.

According to a suitable embodiment, in which, in some cases opposite the first metal or magnetic element, at least two, three or four further metal or magnetic elements, in some further cases four, or at least two, three or four, in some cases four, segments of at least one further, in some cases opposite, metal or magnetic element are present on the containers according to the present disclosure, on each of which at least one, in some cases precisely one, marking element and, in some cases, in each case at least one scale is arranged. Here the at least two, three or four segments can also be present on a uniform metal or magnetic element, by way of example in the form of a continuous metal or magnetic strip, similar to the metal or magnetic element of the first housing. Here, the subdivision into segments can take place using stop or delimitation elements, protruding internally from the housing cover in the direction of the metal or magnetic element. By way of example, during generic placing of the container according to the present disclosure on a horizontal support, a vertically aligned further metal or magnetic element is subdivided into segments arranged above and below one another. Here each segment contains at least one, in some cases precisely one, own marking element.

In a further configuration, it is provided that a plurality of segments of a metal or magnetic element, is attached in some cases one above the other, in some further cases wherein each segment is assigned a scale. By way of example, a first scale with a first metal or magnetic element can record the drink quantity, an opposite second scale with a second metal or magnetic element the number of full beakers, and a third scale with a third metal or magnetic element below the second scale can contain further information on the type of drink, or a medical prescription, or the state of health of the person in need of care, for example Further fourth and fifth scales, such that four or five scales are arranged opposite the first scale and are associated with a fourth or fifth, respectively, metal or magnetic element or a fourth or fifth, respectively, segment of a metal or magnetic element and a fourth or fifth, respectively, marking element are also conceivable and in some cases in one configuration. Here the respective metal or magnetic elements should be provided spaced apart from one another on the container such that there is no mutual magnetic interference between the marking elements or influencing of an adjacent marking element when operated with a magnetic setting tool.

In a further configuration, it is provided that a plurality of metal or magnetic elements and/or scales is attached, in some cases one above the other. By way of example, a first scale with a first metal or magnetic element can record the drink quantity, and a second scale, in some cases present on the other side of the first metal or magnetic element, can indicate the number of full beakers. This second scale can, in relation to the first metal or magnetic element, be present on the same side as the first scale or on the other side of the first metal or magnetic element. A third scale with further information, by way of example on the type of drink, or a medical prescription, or the state of health of a person in need of care, can be further assigned a second metal or magnetic element. Here the third scale and the second metal or magnetic element can be arranged in a configuration below the second scale. Further fourth and fifth scales are also conceivable and in some cases in one configuration, by way of example four scales arranged opposite the first and/or second scale.

In a number of expedient configurations of the present disclosure, it is provided that each metal or magnetic element is magnetically connected with precisely one marking element. Although it is essentially also possible to arrange a plurality of marking elements on one metal or magnetic element, by way of example to mark two positions on the same scale, it is in some cases provided that each metal or magnetic element is assignable to precisely one marking element and precisely one scale.

The present disclosure further relates to a drink quantity monitoring system, comprising at least a setting tool and a container, as described above. The setting tool in some cases comprises magnetic material. In a suitable configuration, it refers to a setting magnet, in some cases a setting magnet partially or fully encased in plastic. With the drink quantity monitoring system, a change in the display, i.e., the position of the marking element, can only be made by persons having the corresponding means of authorization in the form of the setting tool.

Accordingly, the present disclosure also provides a device for setting and displaying a display value. The device is, in some cases, a component of a container as described above.

The present disclosure further relates to a device for setting and displaying a display value, comprising a scale, a marking element, consisting of magnetic material or a magnet or comprising a magnet, and a metal or magnetic strip, with which the marking element is connected by magnetic force, wherein the scale runs parallel to the metal or magnetic strip, and the marking element is movable along the metal or magnetic strip, wherein the device further has a housing, enclosing an interior space, in which the marking element and the metal or magnetic strip are located and wherein the marking element is movable by a setting magnet located outside the housing.

The device has a marking element consisting of magnetic material or a magnet or comprising the latter, and a metal or magnetic strip, by way of example a metal or magnetic strip or a metal or magnetic film, with which the marking element is connected by magnetic force. A scale is arranged parallel to the metal or magnetic strip. The marking element is movable along the strip and thus along the scale. Furthermore, the device has an at least partially transparent housing, enclosing an interior space in which the marking element and the metal or magnetic strip are located. The marking element is movable by a setting magnet located outside of the interior space.

If the strip consists of magnetic strip or film, the marking element can comprise a magnet of suitable polarity or a magnetic material, adhering to the strip by magnetic force. If the strip consists of metal strip or film, or comprises this, the marking element consists of a magnet or comprises this, which adheres to the strip by magnetic force. The magnetic force between the strip and the marking element and the magnetic force between the marking element and the setting magnet are matched to one another such that the setting magnet exerts sufficient magnetic force on the marking element for the marking element to move along the strip despite the magnetic force acting between the marking element and the strip. The interior space predetermined by the housing is dimensioned such that the marking element has enough play to allow it to be moved along the strip.

If there is an air gap between the housing and the marking element, the magnetic force of the setting magnet can be sufficiently dimensioned for the marking element to be raised from the strip, when the setting magnet is positioned directly over the marking element. If the setting magnet is then moved along the housing, the marking element follows the movement of the setting magnet, by sliding along the inner wall of the housing. If the setting magnet is removed at the desired position on the scale, the marking element snaps back onto the strip at this point.

In at least one configuration according to the present disclosure, the device is structurally associated with a drink container, in some cases the container according to the present disclosure. The housing of the device then has a rear wall, which is, in some cases, formed such that it can be placed flat against the outer wall of the drink container and, by way of example, glued or welded to this. In the case of welding, ultrasound, friction or laser welding is in some cases used. In another embodiment, however, the strip can be glued directly to the drink container, and the housing consists merely of a cover covering the strip and the marking element and glued or welded to the drink container. In a further embodiment, the strip is secured by appropriate shaping of the cover so that no gluing to the drink container is necessary.

The scale can, by way of example, serve to display a total drink quantity, and then shows the number of drink containers that have been drunk completely, if the setting magnet is used to move the marking element on by one scale element each time this happens. If the drink container has at least one fill mark, indicating the filling quantity in, by way of example, liters, the total drink quantity scale similarly has a liter scale.

The scale can be attached to the strip, the housing or the cover of the device, or directly to the drink container. A plurality of scales can also be present, provided with different units. If the scale or scales is or are attached to the edge of the strip, the marking element in some cases has a narrower configuration than the strip.

The drink container can also be provided with a plurality of devices, a first of which, by way of example, can have a first total drink quantity scale, and a second a scale on which the type of drink or other information can be set.

The present disclosure further relates to a method for setting and displaying a display value on a container as described above and/or with a device as described above, wherein the method comprises the following steps in this order:

a. securing the marking element in a starting position in the housing by a first magnetic force, acting between marking element and metal or magnetic element, in some cases wherein the marking element comprises or constitutes a magnet;

b. disengaging the marking element through the action of the second magnetic force of a setting tool, in some cases wherein the setting tool is applied in the form of a setting magnet to the housing;

c. transporting the marking element within the housing by movement of the setting tool through the action of the second magnetic force, in some cases through the action of the first and second magnetic force, from the starting position to an end position, in some cases wherein marking element and metal or magnetic element are in direct contact;

d. securing the marking element in the housing in an end position by the first magnetic force, acting between marking element and metal or magnetic element, by removing the setting tool, in some cases such that the second magnetic force no longer acts on the marking element.

It has been shown that, by using magnetic forces of varying strengths, a tamper-proof setting and display of a display value is possible. Here the marking element remains in the housing during each method step, so that direct contact can be effectively prevented.

It is in some cases provided that the second magnetic force is greater than the first magnetic force, and in some further cases wherein the first magnetic force is also effective during the transport process in step c. It would essentially also be possible to use magnets of similar strength. However, this would make contactless movement of the marking element considerably more difficult. Experience has shown that it is most expedient to use a setting tool with a significantly greater second magnetic force. According to another embodiment of the present disclosure, it is provided that the first magnetic force continues to have its effect during the transport. In this way, the setting tool can be removed at any time from a desired position so that the marking element by the first magnetic force remains secured at the moved position. In some cases, there is no danger of a magnetic force acting on the marking element, which means that it is able to move freely to an undesired position.

According to another embodiment, the setting tool is guided in step c. along a housing wall, in some cases in the form of an inspection window. It has been shown here that inspection windows are generally sufficiently permeable for magnetic forces. Visibility of the marking element is thereby ensured. According to another embodiment, the inspection window is level, i.e., flat, so that the setting tool can be guided easily along the flat side.

In one configuration of the method of the present disclosure, it is provided that the marking element is transported in step c. along the metal or magnetic element, in some cases so that contact between marking element and metal or magnetic element exists during the transport. This also has the advantage that a silent movement is possible since the marking element, when the setting tool, in some cases the setting magnet, is removed, does not impact on the metal or magnetic element. This also helps to prevent the marking element, for example if brittle, being damaged. It has surprisingly been shown that sliding is possible even with continuing contact between marking element and metal or magnetic element.

The setting of the marking elements with the setting tool, for example a setting magnet, can be easily performed by healthy persons. For people who are no longer able to do this, by way of example dementia patients, the settings are performed by authorized carers, who then also retain the setting tool, e.g., the setting magnet. The drink container can be provided with a sealing cover with leak-proof mouthpiece, meaning that accidental emptying of the fluid is not possible, and the fluid quantity drunk can be reliably established.

With the drink quantity monitoring system, a change in the display, i.e., the position of the marking element, can only be made by authorized persons, in possession of the corresponding means of authorization in the form of the setting tool. Unauthorized persons without means of authorization are unable to change the display. Accordingly, carers are able to reliably monitor the drink quantity, without the possibility of the data being easily falsified, by way of example by those in need of care, or visitors. In some cases, an unintentional change in the display is also prevented. This even applies in the event of the device, by way of example, falling from table height to the floor. Such safeguards are of considerable importance in the care sector, since persons in need of care often do not drink enough. In extreme cases this can lead to immediate health detriment due to a lack of fluid and, combined with a frail condition, can even be fatal. Thus, an intentional or unintentional change in the display of the quantity drunk can be a considerable danger to the wellbeing and health of the person in need of care, for example dementia patients.

Instead of the setting tool, in some cases the setting magnet, other means of authorization are naturally conceivable. By way of example, a digital display could be used that can only be changed using an authorization code. In practice, however, such solutions have considerable disadvantages, for example in terms of robustness, complexity and cost. With the present disclosure, a rather simple system is provided that is not only sufficiently secure, but also inexpensive and robust. In some cases, such a robust system can be washed directly in the dishwasher, which is a major help in the care sector and often actually essential. Manufacture of the system, which comprises comparatively few components, is also rather inexpensive. This is also of particular importance in the care sector where experience shows that cost pressures are particularly high.

Further features and advantages of the present disclosure are indicated by the following description, in which exemplary embodiments of the present disclosure are explained using schematic drawings, but without these restricting the present disclosure.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION

A first embodiment of the drink container with a device for setting and displaying a total drink quantity is represented in FIGS. 1a and 1b.

FIG. 1a is a schematic representation of the first embodiment of the drink container 6, provided with a total fluid intake scale 7 and fill marks 5. The drink container 6 is optionally equipped with a sealing cover 8, which can be pushed or screwed on and is in some cases provided with a leak-proof mouthpiece. Parallel to the total fluid intake scale 7, a device for setting and displaying a total fluid intake is attached, the length of which corresponds to at least the length of the total fluid intake scale 7. The marking element is not represented.

FIG. 1b is a schematic representation of the device of the first embodiment in cross-section. It has a metal or magnetic strip 1, an open housing in the form of a cover 3 and a marking element 2, comprising magnetic material or a magnet. As shown in FIG. 1b, the open housing can be implemented in the form of a cover 3 as a bulged U-profile. If the strip 1 consists of magnetic strip or film, the marking element 2 can consist of a magnet or a magnetic material, adhering by magnetic force to the strip 1. If the strip 1 consists of sheet metal, the marking element 2 consists of a magnet, adhering by magnetic force to the strip 1. The device also has a separate setting magnet 4 for moving the marking element 2.

The strip 1 is applied to the drink container 6. The housing or the cover 3 is attached to the strip 1 so that an interior space is formed, in which the marking element 2 is located. The interior space is dimensioned such that in the present case a marking element 2 having a circular basic form has enough play to allow it to be moved along the strip 1. There is a slight air gap between the marking element 2 and the cover 3. The cover 3 is transparent and adapted to the form of the drink container 6 such that the interior space is closed on all sides.

The movement of the marking element 2 takes place by way of the setting magnet 4. The magnetic forces of the setting magnet 4 and the marking element 2 or the strip 1 are matched to one another such that when the setting magnet 4 is placed on the cover 3 directly over the marking element 2 this is, if necessary, detached from the strip 1 and can be moved by moving the setting magnet 4 along the total fluid intake scale 7. The magnetic force between the setting magnet 4 and the marking element 2 must therefore be greater than the magnetic force between the strip 1 and the marking element 2. If the setting magnet 4 is then removed at the desired point, the marking element 2 will reattach magnetically to the strip 1 at that point.

FIG. 2a is a schematic representation of a second embodiment of the drink container 6, provided with a total fluid intake scale 7 and fill mark 5 at 0.25 l. The drink container 6 is equipped with a sealing cover 8, which can be pushed on and is provided with a leak-proof mouthpiece 9. Parallel to the total fluid intake scale 7, a device with a metal or magnetic strip 1, in some cases a magnetizable metal strip, and a magnetic marking element 2 for setting and displaying a total fluid intake and a housing in the form of a cover 3, are attached. The length of the device corresponds at least to the length of the total fluid intake scale 7. The container has a container floor 10 and an opposite container opening 11. The strip extends from the direction of the container floor 10 from a first strip end 12 in the direction of the container opening 11 as far as a second strip end 13. The container 6 has a container wall 15.

FIG. 2b is a schematic representation of the second embodiment of the drink container 6 in cross-section. The device for setting and displaying the total fluid intake has a metal or magnetic strip 1, an open housing in the form of a cover 3 and a marking element 2, comprising magnetic material or a magnet. As shown in FIG. 2b, here the open housing can also be implemented in the form of a cover 3 as a bulged U-profile. The device further has a separate setting tool 4 for moving the marking element 2. The cover 3 is attached to the outer wall 15 such that an interior space is formed, in which the metal or magnetic strip 1 and the marking element 2 are located. The cover 3 and the drink container consist primarily of plastic, wherein the cover is secured by gluing or welding to the container wall 15. In the case of welding, ultrasound, friction or laser welding is in some cases used. The interior space is dimensioned such that the marking element 2 has enough play to allow it to be moved along the metal or magnetic strip 1. There may be a slight air gap between the marking element 2 and the cover 3. The cover 3 is transparent and adapted to the shape of the drink container 6 such that the interior space is closed on all sides. The metal or magnetic strip 1 is connected with the outer wall 15, in some cases glued or welded.

FIG. 3a is a schematic representation of a third embodiment of the drink container 6 with a device for setting and displaying the total fluid intake. The essential elements of this schematic view correspond to those of FIG. 2a, wherein here the marking element 2 has a rectangular shape and further differences are shown in FIG. 3b. The drink container 6 in this embodiment also has a closed housing 19 instead of a cover 3.

FIG. 3b is a schematic representation of the third embodiment of the drink container 6 in cross-section, wherein the differences from the second embodiment are clear. The device has a metal or magnetic strip 1 and a magnetic marking element 2, located in a closed housing 19. Instead of the covers used in the embodiments up to now, which in the direction of the container wall 15 have no wall, the housing 19 completely encloses the metal or magnetic strip 1 and the marking element 2, wherein the housing walls configure a tunnel-shaped interior space. Despite the one-piece closed housing here, a movement of the marking element 2 through contactless force by way of the magnetic force of the setting magnet 4 is possible. It is provided here that the closed housing configures a tunnel-shaped or tubular interior space, wherein this interior space can have a rectangular cross-section, matched to the dimensions of the metal or magnetic elements. The closed housing 19 is secured to the container wall 15, wherein the metal or magnetic strip 1 and the marking element 2 are located in the closed housing. The securing is performed by gluing or welding, in some cases ultrasound welding, friction welding or laser welding. The housing can essentially have a two- or multi-part configuration. In the embodiment shown in FIG. 3b, the housing has a one-piece configuration.

The one-piece, closed housing 19 has a first housing wall 21 in the direction of the container wall 15 and an opposite, second, housing wall 20, turned away from the container wall, with a one-piece configuration, wherein the latter is transparent. Here the first housing wall 21 is curved such that it rests directly against a similarly curved container wall 15.

FIG. 4a is a schematic representation of a fourth embodiment of the drink container 6. The essential elements of this schematic view correspond to those of FIG. 2a, wherein the differences are clear from FIG. 4b.

FIG. 4b is a schematic representation of the fourth embodiment of the drink container 6 in cross-section. The device for setting and displaying the total fluid intake has a metal or magnetic strip 1, in some cases a metal strip, and a marking element 2. The marking element 2 is supported between the metal or magnetic strip 1 and the front part of the housing in the form of cover 3 such that it can slide. The device also has a separate setting tool 4 for moving the marking element 2. The housing or the cover 3 also comprises side walls 14, configured extending from the outer wall 15, and a frontal closing. Here, the side walls 14 and the outer wall 15 or the drink container 6 can have a one-piece configuration by injection molding. The connection between this frontal closing, by way of example in the form of a panel, and the side walls 14 in some cases takes place by gluing or welding, in some further cases by ultrasound, friction or laser welding, and in some other cases by ultrasound welding.

The outer wall with the formed side walls 14 and the frontal closing of the housing in the form of the cover 3 form an interior space for the metal or magnetic strip 1 and the marking element 2. Here, in the embodiment represented, the side walls 14 are configured as an integral component of the outer wall 15, in some cases obtained by injection molding from a hollow form for the outer wall 15 with recesses for the side walls 14. The interior space must be dimensioned such that the marking element 2 has enough play to allow it to be moved along the metal or magnetic strip 1. There may be a slight air gap between the marking element 2 and the cover 3. The magnetic forces of the setting tool 4 and the marking element 2 or the metal or magnetic strip 1 are matched to one another such that, when the setting tool 4 is placed on the frontal closing of the cover 3 directly over the marking element 2, the marking element 2 follows a movement of the setting tool 4 along the scale 7. The magnetic force between the setting tool 4 and the marking element 2 is generally greater than the magnetic force between the strip 1 and the marking element 2. If the setting tool 4 is removed at the desired point, the marking element 2 is secured magnetically to the metal or magnetic strip 1.

FIG. 5a is a schematic representation of a fifth embodiment of the drink container 6 with a device for setting and displaying the total fluid intake, wherein the essential elements of this schematic representation correspond to those of FIG. 3a and the differences are shown in FIG. 5b.

FIG. 5b is a schematic representation of the fifth embodiment of the drink container 6 in cross-section, wherein the differences from the third embodiment are clear. Instead of the one-piece closed housing of the third embodiment, it now refers to a two-piece closed housing 19, wherein a first housing part 21 in the direction of the container wall 15, and an opposite, separate, frontal housing part 20, turned away from the container wall is present, and which is connected with the first housing part 21, in some cases glued or welded. The two-piece housing encloses the metal or magnetic strip and the marking element 2 completely, wherein a tunnel-shaped interior space is configured by the housing walls. Here it is provided that the two-piece closed housing configures a tunnel-shaped interior space, wherein this interior space has a rectangular cross-section, matched to the dimensions of the metal or magnetic element. The device has a metal or magnetic strip 1 and a magnetic marking element 2, located in a two-piece closed housing 19. Despite the closed housing, a movement of the marking element 2 by contactless force through magnetic force of the setting magnet 4 continues to be possible. The closed housing 19 is secured via the housing wall 21 to the container wall 15, wherein the metal or magnetic strip 1 is located in the two-piece closed housing. The securing is performed by gluing or welding, in some cases by ultrasound, friction or laser welding.

FIG. 6a is a schematic representation of a sixth embodiment of the drink container 6 with a device for setting and displaying the total fluid intake. The essential elements of this schematic representation correspond with regard to the device for setting and displaying the total fluid intake, FIG. 2a, wherein here the marking element 2 is moved to a slightly different position.

FIG. 6b is a schematic representation of the sixth embodiment of the drink container 6 in side view, containing three devices arranged one on top of the other for setting and displaying of three pieces of user-related information. These three devices are arranged opposite the device for setting and displaying the total fluid intake according to FIG. 6a. These three devices for setting and displaying three pieces of user-related information are based on a metal or magnetic strip, which is broken down by stop elements 16 into strip segments 1′, 1″ and 1′″ each with its own magnetic marking element 2′, 2″ or 2′″. The respective stop elements limit the range of motion of the respective marking elements. In the embodiment represented, the stop elements 16 are inwardly protruding components of the continuous frontal boundary or panel of the housing or the cover 3. The metal or magnetic strip 1 similarly has a continuous configuration, as does device 1 on the opposite side. Through such an arrangement different information can be represented by each of the marking elements 2′, 2″ or 2′″. In the embodiment variants represented, the metal or magnetic strips on the opposite sides of the drink container in each case have an independent and continuous implementation. Here, segments 1′, 1″ and 1′″ represent stages or segments of the strip as a whole.

FIG. 6c is a schematic representation of the sixth embodiment of the drink container 6 in cross-section. Here the cross-section follows the line 17 of FIG. 6b, so that only elements of the metal or magnetic strip 1 and 1′ and the marking elements 2 and 2′ are visible. The metal or magnetic strip 1, as in FIG. 2b, is connected to the container wall 15, in some cases glued or welded to this. The metal or magnetic strips 1 and 1′ and the housing in the form of covers 3 and 3′ are secured to the container wall 15. The covers 3 or 3′ in each case with the container wall 15 form an interior space. In a first interior space formed by the first cover 3, a first metal or magnetic strip 1 and a first marking element 2 are housed and in an opposite second interior space formed by the second cover 3′ a second metal or magnetic strip 1′ and a second marking element 2′ are housed.

The drinking containers shown in FIGS. 1-5 can naturally be equipped with a further device for setting and displaying user-related information, as shown in FIG. 6b and as explained above.

The features of the present disclosure disclosed in the above description, the claims and the drawings can be of material importance for carrying out the present disclosure in various embodiments both individually and in any combination.

The various embodiments described above can be combined to provide further embodiments. Aspects of the embodiments can be modified and other changes can be made in light of the above-detailed description. In general, in the following claims, the terms used should not be construed to limit the claims to the specific embodiments disclosed in the specification and the claims, but should be construed to include all possible embodiments along with the full scope of equivalents to which such claims are entitled.

Claims

1. A container having a device for setting and displaying a display value, comprising

at least one container wall with an inner side and an outer side, a container floor and a container opening, as well as a metal or magnetic element and a marking element,
wherein the metal or magnetic element comprises magnetic material and/or metallic material, and
wherein the marking element is supported in and/or under a housing and is movable by a setting magnet by magnetic force.

2. The container according to claim 1, wherein the metal or magnetic element is a metal or magnetic strip on which the marking element is movably supported in the housing.

3. The container according to claim 1, further comprising a scale that is attached to the at least one container wall, to the metal element and/or to the housing.

4. The container according to claim 1, wherein the housing is configured by a closed housing with an interior space for the marking element and/or by a cover with an interior space for the marking element.

5. The container according to claim 4, wherein the housing or the cover has at least one housing wall comprising an inspection window and/or wherein the housing or the cover is at least partially transparent.

6. The container according to claim 4, wherein the closed housing or the cover configures an interior space that extends from the direction of the container floor in the direction of the container opening.

7. The container according to claim 1, wherein the metal or magnetic element is arranged externally on the container wall, and the marking element is supported so that it can slide on the metal or magnetic element and is covered by the housing.

8. The container according to claim 1, in the form of a drink container having a device for setting and displaying a display value, further comprising a scale,

wherein the marking element comprises magnetic material or a magnet, and the metal or magnetic element is a metal or magnetic strip with which the marking element is connected by magnetic force,
wherein the marking element is movable along the metal or magnetic strip,
wherein the housing encloses an interior space in which the marking element and the metal or magnetic strip are located, and
wherein the marking element is movable by the setting magnet located outside the housing.

9. The container according to claim 1, wherein the metal or magnetic element is a non-magnetic metal strip.

10. The container according to claim 1, wherein said container is drink container.

11. The container according to claim 1, wherein the metal or magnetic element extends along the at least one container wall of the container.

12. The container according to claim 3, wherein the scale extends from the direction of the container floor in the direction of the container opening, and/or is designed and aligned to display a consumed total fluid intake.

13. The container according to claim 5, wherein the cover is affixed to side walls (14), configured as one piece of the container wall.

14. The container according to claim 6, wherein the closed housing or the cover configures an interior space on the container wall that extends from the direction of the container floor in the direction of the container opening along the outer side.

15. The container according to claim 7, wherein the metal or magnetic element is secured externally on the container wall, and the marking element is supported so that it can slide on the metal or magnetic element and is enclosed in the housing.

16. The container according to claim 8, wherein the display value is a total fluid intake.

17. The container according to claim 8, wherein the setting magnet exerts a greater magnetic force on the marking element than the metal or magnetic strip.

18. A device for setting and displaying a display value, having a scale, a marking element consisting of magnetic material or a magnet, and a metal or magnetic strip with which the marking element is connected by magnetic force,

wherein the marking element is movable along the metal or magnetic strip,
wherein the device further has a housing enclosing an interior space in which the marking element and the metal or magnetic strip are located, and
wherein the marking element is movable by a setting magnet located outside the housing.

19. The device according to claim 18, wherein the setting magnet exerts a greater magnetic force on the marking element than the metal or magnetic strip.

20. The device according to claim 18, wherein the scale runs parallel to the metal or magnetic strip.

21. A fluid intake monitoring system for setting and displaying a display value comprising a container according to claim 1 and a setting tool.

22. The fluid intake monitoring system according to claim 21, wherein the setting tool is a setting magnet.

23. A method for setting and displaying a display value on a container according to claim 1, wherein the method comprises the following steps in this order:

a. securing the marking element in a starting position in the housing by a first magnetic force acting between the marking element and the metal or magnetic element;
b. disengaging the marking element through action of a second magnetic force of a setting tool;
c. transporting the marking element within the housing by movement of the setting tool through action of the second magnetic force from the starting position to an end position; and
d. securing the marking element in the housing in an end position by the first magnetic force acting between the marking element and the metal or magnetic element, by removing the setting tool.

24. The method according to claim 23, wherein the second magnetic force is greater than the first magnetic force.

25. The method according to claim 23, wherein the setting tool is guided in step c. along a housing wall in the form of an inspection window and/or wherein the marking element is transported in step c. along the metal or magnetic element.

26. The method according to claim 23, wherein the marking element comprises or constitutes a magnet.

27. The method according to claim 23, wherein the setting tool is applied in the form of a setting magnet to the housing.

28. The method according to claim 23, wherein the first magnetic force is also effective during the transporting in step c.

29. The method according to claim 23, wherein transporting the marking element within the housing in step c. takes place by movement of the setting tool through action of the first and second magnetic force.

30. The method according to claim 23, wherein the second magnetic force is also effective during the transporting in step c.

31. The method according to claim 25, wherein the marking element is transported in step c. along the metal or magnetic element so that contact between the marking element and the metal or magnetic element exists during said transporting.

32. A method for setting and displaying a display value on a container with a device according to claim 18, wherein the method comprises the following steps in this order:

a. securing the marking element in a starting position in the housing by a first magnetic force acting between the marking element and the metal or magnetic element;
b. disengaging the marking element through action of a second magnetic force of a setting tool;
c. transporting the marking element within the housing by movement of the setting tool through action of the second magnetic force from the starting position to an end position; and
d. securing the marking element in the housing in an end position by the first magnetic force acting between the marking element and the metal or magnetic element, by removing the setting tool.
