ALL IN ONE HEADWRAP

Abstract

The invention concerns an-all-in-one headwrap which allows the user to fashionably cover their head without having to be concerned with tying, tucking, pulling or twisting a traditional headwrap or head scarf. The headwrap is a layer of fabric comprised of two parts—a crown and a knot attached together. The headwrap further comprises a closure which secures the crown and knot portion of the headwrap to the user's head.

CROSS-REFERENCE TO RELATED APPLICATIONS

The present patent application is related to and claims the priority benefit of U.S. Provisional Patent Application No. 62/333,541, filed May 9, 2016, the content of which is hereby incorporated by reference in its entirety into this disclosure.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

The present invention relates to a fashion head covering. Head coverings are a popular fashion accessory especially for women wanting an attractive head covering. Traditionally headwraps are a single long piece of fabric, which is wide in the center and tapers to a point on both ends. The tapered ends allow the user to tie the headwrap around their head.

Securing a headwrap can be difficult for the user. In some instances, a user would have to make a very tight knot in the back of the headwrap. But if the headwrap is not tied tightly enough the fabric can come loose, be uncomfortable for the user or unsightly.

In other instances, headwraps can also be secured with separate fasteners such as clips, pins, rubber bands or ponytail holders. However, these fasteners can also be unappealing and could damage the headwrap. Furthermore, it can be difficult to place the user's hair within the headwrap neatly.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

The invention concerns an-all-in-one headwrap. The headwrap allows the user to fashionably cover their head without having to be concerned with tying, tucking, pulling or twisting a traditional headwrap or head scarf. The headwrap provides comfort and convenience and is easy to use. The headwrap's novel design and constructions allow the user to quickly and efficiently place the headwrap on their hair and get a secure fit. In some embodiments, a user slides the headwrap on their hair, inserts their hair into the knot and pulls down the drawstring for a secure fit.

The headwrap is a layer of fabric comprised of two parts—a crown and a knot attached together. The headwrap further comprises a closure which secures the crown and knot portion of the headwrap to the user's head. In some embodiments, the crown and knot are made from a single layer of fabric. In yet another embodiment the headwrap can be made from multiple layers of fabric.

Once the user slides on the headwrap, it conforms to the shape of the head, providing a secure fit. In some embodiments, the headwrap is pulled over the users' head. In some embodiments, the headwrap comprises a close-fitting crown. In another embodiment, the crown provides both head and ear coverage. In another embodiment, the headwrap comprises elastic around the crown which a secure and snug fit.

In some embodiments, the headwrap comprises a lining. For certain hair types, the lining will prevent breakage. The lining can also provide a polished finish for the wrap. In some embodiment, the lining is made from various of fabrics In some embodiments the crown can be made from a dual sided material such as cotton/poly blends, satin, silk lycra, eliminating the need for separate attachment of the lining.

In some embodiments, the headwrap comprises a knot at the nape of the neck. This allows the user to insert their hair, not the headwrap. The knot can stretch and be large enough to accommodate any length of hair, including dreadlocks of different thickness and sizes. In some embodiments, the knot can have an opening which allows a user to pull their hair through the headwrap.

In some embodiments, the knot comprises a closure. The closure allows the user to secure a comfortable fit around the user's head. In some embodiments, the closure is a securer. In yet another embodiment the closure selected from the group consisting of elastic, hooks, loops, hook and loop straps (Velcro®), buttons, drawstring or combinations thereof. In yet another embodiment the closure is a drawstring. In some embodiments the closure is fashioned to look like a scarf.

In some embodiments, the crown and knot are attached or joined together. The crown and knot can be attached by elastic, hooks, loops, hook and loop straps (Velcro®) and buttons. In yet another embodiment the crown and knot are attached by sewing the portions together. These attachments allow for flexibility providing the user with a secure fit.

The headwrap can be made from fabric in one or many colors. In some embodiments, the headwrap is made from organic fabric. In some embodiments, the headwrap is made from 4-way stretch fabric. In yet another embodiment the headwrap is made from a fabric selected from the group consisting of cotton, denim, silk, satin, microfiber, suede, leather and linen. In yet another embodiment the headwrap is made from a breathable fabric for sports reducing sweat. In another embodiment, the headwrap is a solid color. In yet another embodiment the headwrap is patterned.

In some embodiments, the headwrap comprises a crown, wherein the crown fits securely on a user's head; a knot at the nape of the crown; and a closure which allows the headwrap to be secured to the user's head. In some embodiments, the crown and knot are attached to each other. In yet another embodiment the crown and knot are attached to each other with elastic, hooks, loops, hook and loop straps (Velcro®), buttons, drawstring or combinations thereof. In yet another embodiment, the crown and know are sewn together.

In some embodiments, the headwarp is fashioned as a sports wrap. In further embodiments, the headwrap comprises a wireless electronic communication device, such Bluetooth®, that allows for wireless electronic communication with music players (such as mp3 players) and cell phone. This wireless electronic communication device, for example, allows the user to listen to music or phone calls. In some embodiments the wireless electronic communication device is located on the side of the headwrap close to the user's ears. In other embodiments, the wireless electronic communication device is sewn into the lining of the headwrap. In some embodiments, the headwrap comprises reflectors on the crown. In further embodiments, the reflectors are at the rear of the claims. In some embodiments, there are multiple reflectors. In other embodiments, there are at least two reflectors on either side of the knot. In some embodiments, the headwrap comprises a vision light on the crown. The vision light can provide illumination for users, including, but not limited to bikers, joggers and runners, when using the sports wrap in the dark or low light environments. In some embodiments, the vision light is in the center of the crown.

In some embodiments, the headwrap is small enough to fit an infant, toddler or child.

In some embodiments, the headwrap is part of a headwrap system which includes instructions to assist the user in properly placing and securing the headwrap.

DESCRIPTION OF PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS

Disclosed are a headwrap and associated methods, systems, devices, and various apparatus. The headwrap, and more particularly the headwrap in the drawings, is a layer of fabric comprised of two parts—a crown and a knot attached together. The headwrap further comprises a closure which secures the crown and knot portion of the headwrap to the user's head. In some embodiments, the crown and knot are made from a single layer of fabric. In yet another embodiment the headwrap can be made from multiple layers of fabric.

One embodiment of a headwrap 100 is disclosed and described with reference to FIG. 1. FIG. 1 displays a side view of the headwrap 100 which shows the crown 110, knot 120, and closure 130. FIG. 9 displays a top view of the headwrap 100 in its fully expanded arrangement.

The crown 110 and knot 120 are attached or joined by an elastic band. In other embodiments, the crown 110 and knot 120 can be attached or joined by hooks, loops, hook and loop straps (Velcro®) and buttons. In yet another embodiment the crown 110 and knot 120 are attached by sewing 160 the portions together.

The crown 110 and knot 120 can be made from several different fabrics including 4-way stretch fabric. In some embodiments, the crown 110 and knot 120 can be made from cotton, denim, silk, satin, microfiber, suede, leather or linen. The crown 110 and knot 120 can be adapted for those with active lifestyles and can be made from breathable fabrics, including wicking fabrics and fabrics with UV protection, which assists in the reduction of noticeable perspiration on the user's head.

The closure 130 is attached to the headwrap by elastic drawstring shown in FIGS. 2A and 3 the closure 130 can be tucked into the crown 110 or, as shown in FIGS. 1, 2B and 8, the closure 130 can dangle from the back of the knot 120. As shown in FIGS. 6 and 7 the closure 130 can be made from several securers. These securers include elastic, hooks, loops, hook and loop straps (Velcro®), buttons and drawstrings.

As shown in FIG. 5 the knot 120 can expand to accommodate different hair lengths, textures, and thicknesses. Furthermore, as shown in FIG. 5, the crown 110 stays securely in place when used by people with different hair types.

As shown in FIG. 3, the headwrap 100 has a lining 140. The lining 140 is attached to the crown by stitching 150. In some embodiments, the stitching 150 is a cotton/blind hem stitch or zig zag. In other embodiments, the stitching 150 includes glues, weavings, heat melting and related methods. In some embodiments the headwrap 100 can be made from dual sided material such as cotton blends eliminating the need for separate attachment of the lining.

Although the present invention has been described in relation to particular embodiments thereof, many other variations and modifications and other uses will become apparent to those skilled in the art. It is preferred, therefore, that the present invention is limited not by the specific disclosure herein.

Claims

1. A headwrap comprising:

a crown, wherein the crown fit securely on a user's head;

a knot at the nape of the crown; and

a closure which allows the headwrap to be secured to the user's head.

2. The headwrap of claim 1 wherein the crown and knot are made from 4-way stretch fabric.

3. The headwrap of claim 2 wherein the 4-way stretch fabric is selected from the group consisting of from cotton, denim, silk, satin, microfiber, suede, leather, linen and combinations thereof.

4. The headwrap of claim 3 wherein the 4-way stretch fabric is organic.

5. The headwrap of claim 1 wherein the crown comprises a lining.

6. The headwrap of claim 1 wherein the closure is a securer.

7. The headwrap of claim 6 wherein the securer is selected from the group consisting of elastic, hooks, loops, hook and loop straps (Velcro®), buttons, drawstring and combinations thereof.

8. The headwrap of claim 7 wherein the securer is fashioned to resemble a scarf.

9. The headwrap of claim 1 wherein the crown and knot are attached to each other.

10. The headwrap of claim 9 wherein the crown and knot are attached to each other with elastic, hooks, loops, hook and loop straps (Velcro®) or buttons.

11. The headwrap of claim 9 wherein the crown and knot are sewn together.

12. The headwrap of claim 5 further comprising a wireless electronic communication device in the lining.

13. The headwrap of claim 1 further comprising a vision light on the crown.

14. A headwrap system comprising the headwrap of claim 1 and instructions on how to place and secure the headwrap on the user's head.
