CROSS REFERENCE TO RELATED APPLICATION

This application claims the benefit of U.S. Provisional Application No. 62/341,277 filed May 25, 2016.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

The invention is directed to a wig liner and more particularly to a wig liner that is more form fitting to the head.

Wig liners are well known in the art and are worn underneath a wig to compact and confine hair close to a user's head, as well as an aid for keeping a wig from shifting. For users who are bald or balding, wig liners are used as a barrier between the user's scalp and the wig. Wig liners are also used to aid in the discomfort of a sensitive scalp after the loss of hair due to medical conditions. While useful, there are many deficiencies that are present with existing wig liners. For example, existing wig liners are positioned well above one's ears. Second, existing wig liners only stretch in one direction. Third, existing liners are not formed to cover one's occiput. Finally, elastic used with existing wig liners lacks stability and comfort. Thus, a need exists in the art for a liner that improves upon these deficiencies.

Accordingly, an objective of the present invention is to provide a wig liner that is more stable and comfortable.

Another objective of the present invention is to provide a wig liner formed to cover one's occiput.

A still further objective is to provide a wig liner that stretches in more than one direction.

These and other objectives will be apparent to those skilled in the art based upon the following written description, drawings and claims.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

A wig liner having a first section of material sewn to a second section of material to form a continuous outer edge and an inner cavity that is configured to snugly receive an individual's head. An elastic band is connected to the outer edge of the sewn sections. The elastic band has a lower edge that extends from an individual's forehead rearwardly toward the individual's ears, then around the individual's ears, and finally rearwardly and downwardly around the back of the head to cover an individual's occiput.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS

FIG. 1 is a side view of a wig liner on an individual's head; and

FIG. 2 is a front view of a wig liner.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENT

Referring to the Figures, a wig liner 10 used on an individual's head 12 includes a first section 14 and a second section 16 that are sewn together along seam 18. When sewn, the first section 14 and second section 16 have an outer edge 20 and an inner cavity 22 that receives the individual's head. Preferably, the first and second sections 14 and 16 are made with a natural fiber material such as bamboo, hemp, or the like, which help wick moisture.

Connected to the outer edge 20 of the liner 10 is an elastic band 24 having a connecting edge 26 and an opposite lower edge 28. The elastic band 24 is made of a very soft material such as organdy or the like to provide comfort and stability without constricting the head 12. The wig liner 10 is configured such that the lower edge 28 of the elastic band 24 fits around the individual's ear 30 and extends downwardly in the back to cover individual's occiput 32. In one set of embodiments, the wig liner 10 is configured to come in three standardized sizes: small, medium, and large. In another embodiment, the wig liner 10 is colored, for instance in certain embodiments the wig liner 10 is black, brown, and flesh or nude colored.

Thus, a wig liner has been disclosed that at the very least meets all the stated objectives.
