DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

The following description is provided, so as to enable any person skilled in the art to make use of the invention and sets forth the best modes contemplated by the inventor of carrying out this invention. Various modifications, however, are adapted to remain apparent to those skilled in the art, since the generic principles of the present invention have been defined specifically to provide a collapsible container for perishable goods and a method of storing and shipping the perishable goods.

Reference is now made to FIGS. 1a to 1c, presenting a schematic exploded general view of a frame 100 formed by Π-shaped and straight members. The frame comprises a rectangular carrying sub-frame 110 which is configured for securing a bag accommodating goods in bulk, for example, perishable fruits or vegetables. Sub-frame is supported by two supporting members 120. According to an exemplar embodiment of the present invention, sub-frame 110 comprises two first Π-shaped members 10 and two straight members 20. Supporting members 120 are identical. Each of them comprises one second Π-shaped member 30 and two straight members 40. Numeral 50 referring to interconnecting means is marked in the only location in order to not to over-complicate FIG. 1a.

In the assembled position, two first Π-shaped members 10 are interconnected by two straight members 20. Specifically, straight members 20 are connected to perpendicular terminal portions 15 contiguous to main portion 13 of first Π-shaped members 10. Concerning supporting members 120, two second Π-shaped members 30 are connected to sub-frame 110 via two straight members 40.

Reference is now made to FIGS. 2a to 2c, presenting exemplar embodiments of the present invention relating to packing the frame components during transportation in collapsed position to loading location.

Specifically, FIG. 2a shows relative orientation of two first or second Π-shaped members 10/30 toward each other. FIG. 2b presents an exemplar arrangement optimal for first Π-shaped members 10 packed with corresponding straight member 20. According to the present invention, straight members 20 of an identical cross dimension interconnect terminal portions 15 of first Π-shaped members 10. A length of terminal portions 15 is equal to two said cross dimension of first straight members 20. A volume of the obtained pack is minimized by placing straight members 20 between first Π-shaped members 10. Similar to components of sub-frame, straight members 40 of an identical cross dimension connect terminal portions 35 of second Π-shaped members 30. A length of terminal portions 15 is equal to four cross dimension of second straight members 40. Second straight members 40 are placed between second Π-shaped members 30.

Reference is now to FIGS. 3a and 3b, presenting schematic assembled and exploded general views a frame 200 formed by Γ-shaped members. Frame 200 comprises sub-frame 203 and two supporting members 205. Sub-frame 203 is formed by two pair of Γ-shaped members 210a and 210b differing from each other by a length thereof. Each Γ-shaped member has a main elongate portion with a longitudinal axis and first and second terminal connectors oriented is along and perpendicularly to the axis, respectively. One of the connectors is of a female type, and another connector is of a male type.

As emphasized above, one of them, connector 215 is of a male type, while another connector 217 is of a female type. Connector 215 is configured to be inserted into connector 217 such that a releasable connection is established. Connector 217 is coaxial with axis 211, while an axis 218 of male connector 215 is perpendicular to longitudinal axis 211 of Γ-shaped member 210a/210b. Sub-frame 203 is formed when Γ-shaped members 210a/210b are successively interconnected, whereat each male connector 215 of preceding Γ-shaped member 210a/210b is inserted into female connector 217 of succeeding Γ-shaped member 210a/210b.

Reference is now made to FIGS. 5a and 5b, illustrating bag securement to a sub-frame. In FIG. 5a, bag has main portion 250 for accommodating the goods in bulk and a rim portion 270 of the bag. The rim portion is bent over when Γ-shaped members 210a/210b and mechanically secured to outer surface 260 of the main portion 250 of the bag. The portion 320 for accommodating the goods is downwardly housed into the rectangular carrying sub-frame formed by Γ-shaped members 210a/210b such that goods to be loaded, stored or shipped within the portion 320 can be placed in its internal volume so formed.
