IQ - A GAME DESIGNED FOR MULTIPLE PLAYERS

A game designed for multiple players by providing players to complete a plurality of tasks in a plurality of categories, comprising a dice to select a playing letter used by players to write down all legible words and a stop command generated by at least one player, as an outcome of completing all categories resulting in getting reward points generated for each correct word and one player declared as winner owning highest number of reward points after completion of a number of sets of game. The categories and number of players can vary according to player requirements. The dice tossed down to initiate the game by providing a first letter known as playing word.

FIELD OF THE INVENTION

The present invention relates to an improved and advanced game designed for multiple players belonging to all categories for judging their general knowledge, speed and accuracy by directing the players to complete a plurality of tasks in a plurality of categories. All players need to write down legible words initiated by a playing word through a rolling dice. The player declared as winner who manages to write maximum number of words relating to all categories defined in game manual.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

Games have been popular throughout recorded history. Games can be divided into many categories like for amusement purpose, mental exercise or for physical purposes. There are number of card games available for mental exercise and played among players for gaining knowledge. To learn and encourage social interaction a list of games are known in the prior art.

One prior art U.S. Pat. No. 7,648,139 B1 entitled to Jean Viveen R discloses a word association game for each round of which, a player spins the spinner wheel such that the pointer lands on a space having a letter. If a player spins a previously used letter, the player spins again until the pointer lands on an unused letter. Each player writes down a word beginning with the letter for each category. When one player has completely filled in each category, he shouts “STOP!” and all players must stop writing. Players may also agree to stop play at a point during a round in which all or most of the players are encountering difficulty in finding a word beginning with a particular letter for a category. Upon stopping play and ending a round, players compare their answers for earning points. The first player to reach a predetermined score wins the game.

U.S. Pat. No. 5,004,244 A entitled to Johnson Gary K discloses a game comprising playing area means, category value selection means, scoring means, initials selection and pairing means, and timing means. Category value selection means, such as a plurality of people categories, each of which is listed on the squares, together with a sliding scale of values for each of the people categories. Each of the path squares has a unique set of the values which is different from the set of values assigned to each of the other square. The people categories used in one application includes (a) entertainment—musicians, singers or dancers, actors or actresses, comedians, magicians, and national television personalities; (b) sports-collegiate or professional players or coaches, who are known state-wide or nationally; (c) fictional and so on.

U.S. Pat. No. 4,928,976 A entitled to Barbara Vano; Bruno Vano discloses a word association game wherein the players contrive words associated with various categories which are selected from category cards and which are filled in on a game sheet. The game sheet has a plurality of squares laid out across the top of the sheet and a place for the player's name. Down along one side of the game sheet are a plurality of squares to write the totals of the player's scores, and down the opposite side of the sheet are a plurality of squares for writing in the categories. Under each square across the top of the sheet are pluralities of squares for the players to write words in. Each square is provided with an area in which to write the score associated with that particular word. If there is a dispute as to whether an answer is correct, i.e., whether the word fits the category under which it is placed, resort to a dictionary

While the above described game devices and models fulfills their particular objectives and requirements, the aforementioned patent applications do not describe an IQ game that increasing knowledge among the plurality of players in and encourages social interaction as well.

Therefore, a need exists for a new and improved word formation game belonging to plurality of categories and levels for players belonging to all ages. In this regard, the present invention substantially fulfills this need. In this respect, the method of playing the game according to the present invention substantially departs from the conventional concepts and designs of the prior arts and doing so provide a method and device primarily developed for the purpose of playing brain games to increase your IQ, speed and accuracy.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

In view of the foregoing limitations inherent in the known board games to enhance knowledge and social gathering for players belonging to all ages, the present invention provides an improved and efficient method of playing games to sharpen your speed, accuracy and general awareness.

The game is designed to engage multiple players to play at a time overcoming the bar of age restrictions. A dice or roulette is used for picking a playing alphabet to initiate word writing in plurality of categories. After every execution of the dice, a new playing alphabet picked by all players every time and they start writing the words beginning with the same alphabet that can be suitably fit inside different categories.

The categories list includes name of country, city, river, movie names, players, president, singer names, TV shows, book, fruit, flowers, animal, mountain and the list can be expanded up to any level. The different categories can be shortlisted depending upon the player's interest. The difficult levels can be defined in the game for players belonging to a particular age group. Thus in different levels players needs to write words fulfilling additional conditions like word length or minimum number of words required in a particular category. The words written by all players must be understandable having some meaning belonging to that particular category these have been written for.

In one of the particular embodiment of the invention the words written by all players may be similar in meaning and considered as different words.

In one embodiment of the invention the stop command may be produced by more than one player at a particular interval of time.

In one embodiment of the invention the dice comprises plurality of alphabets specifically written in different languages.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

In the following detailed description, reference is made to the accompanying drawings which form a part hereof, and in which is shown by way of illustration specific embodiments in which the invention may be practiced. These embodiments are described in sufficient detail to enable those skilled in the art to practice the invention, and it is to be understood that the embodiments may be combined, or that other embodiments may be utilized and that structural and logical changes may be made without departing from the spirit and scope of the present invention. The following detailed description is, therefore, not to be taken in a limiting sense, and the scope of the present invention is defined by the appended claims and their equivalents.

Referring to FIG. 1, it shows a flow chart of the various processes involved in the present invention. Step 1 describes the initial arrangement of the players provided with all necessary materials e.g. pencil, answering chart to fill answers and a time keeper.

A dice is rolled at step 2 to pick a playing word. After rolling the dice a random alphabet appears on the top of the dice that we call as playing word. The Players are adapted to read the playing word at step 3 and start writing words starting from the same playing word during step 4. The playing word considered as the first word starting with this all words in different categories can be filled by the players. As soon as all categories got filled by any player then that player generates a stop command during step 5. After execution of stop command all players need to put down their writing materials and score evaluation process initiated at step 6. The score evaluation process involves multiple steps depending upon the uniqueness and duplication of the words written by players.

The process of scoring is as follows:

20 points If only one player has correct word. 10 points If two or more players have correct but different words. 5 points For those players that have the same correct words. Zero points For no words/wrong words.

Now, the sum of points earned in all categories calculated at step 7 and the player earning highest marks declared as the winner of the game. The step 7 process can also be utilized after n number of games depending upon the preset conditions at the beginning of the game. The process of rolling dice or roulette can be considered as chance mechanism. The chance mechanism is selected from the group of a multiphase dice, letter roulette, and a pile of alphabets cards or combination thereof.

FIG. 2 represents a symbolic representation of the roulette wheel representing a series of 26 alphabets for English language. The same roulette wheel can be designed for other languages depending upon the demand generated by remote places. In this wheel a ball is used for picking a playing letter. The roulette wheel is rotated in one direction and ball is in opposite direction and as the ball becomes stationary on a given alphabet then that alphabet considered as playing letter or an initiating alphabet.

FIG. 3 represents another exemplary embodiment of the invention by representing a multiphase dice to choose a playing word. In one of the preferred embodiment of the invention numerals can also be used on the dice that can be further coded to English alphabets accordingly.

FIG. 4 shows an exemplary answering chart used for writing words that belong to plurality of categories. There is one more column provided for score calculation. The chart type may vary according to the user needs as shown in figure.

The game can be designed for players belonging to all age groups and can be operable at all times.

Additionally, the game may be implemented on any electronic device capable of performing its functions. The electronic device may be categorized into the cellular phones, computers, laptops, and other related instruments but not limiting to these categories only.

Many variations, modifications, additions and improvements to the embodiments described above are possible. It is contemplated that these variations, modifications, additions and improvements fall within the scope of the invention.

Claims

1. A game designed for multiple players by providing players to complete a plurality of tasks in a plurality of categories, the game comprising:

a dice to select a playing letter, wherein said playing letter is used by players to write down all legible words;
a stop command generated by at least one player, wherein said stop command is an outcome of completing all categories;
reward points generated depending upon the performance of players wherein said reward points are generated for each correct word; and
at least one player is declared winner, wherein said winner is aforesaid player owning highest number of reward points.

2. The game of claim 1, wherein said tasks comprises writing legible words from said playing letter.

3. The game of claim 1, wherein said plurality of categories are selected from the group of name of country, city, river, movie names, players, president, singer names, TV shows, book, fruit, flowers, animal, mountain and combination thereof.

4. The game of claim 1, wherein said dice selected from the group of a multiphase dice, letter roulette, a pile of alphabets cards or combination thereof.

5. The game of claim 1, wherein said playing letter comprising a first letter of each word.

6. The game of claim 1, wherein said stop command is generated by said at least one player as said player completed all categories.

7. The game of claim 1, wherein said reward points calculated referring correctness and duplication of words.

8. The game of claim 1, wherein said sum of reward points comprising sum of all reward points for plurality of categories.

9. A method of playing a game for multiple players, comprising:

providing a chance mechanism, wherein said chance mechanism randomly selects a playing word;
writing number of words for a plurality of categories, wherein each of said number of words starting from the playing letter;
a stop command generated by at least player, wherein said stop command initiated by completing all categories;
receiving reward points for correctly writing highest number of correct words in said plurality of categories; and
a player is declared winner, wherein said player owning a highest number of reward points.

10. The method of playing a game for multiple players of claim 9, wherein said chance mechanism selected from the group of a multiphase dice, letter roulette, a pile of alphabets cards or combination thereof.

11. The method of playing a game for multiple players of claim 9, wherein said writing involves writing legitimate words wherein said legitimate words start with said playing word.

12. The method of playing a game for multiple players of claim 9, wherein said stop command is initiated by at least one player as soon as the said player completed all categories.

13. The method of playing a game for multiple players of claim 9, wherein said receiving of said reward points by multiple players is calculated referring correctness and duplication of words.

14. The method of playing a game for multiple players of claim 9, wherein said highest number of reward points comprises an outcome of sum of reward points among plurality of categories.

15. The method of playing a game for multiple players of claim 9, wherein said plurality of categories are selected from the group of name of country, city, river, movie names, players, president, singer names, TV shows, book, fruit, flowers, animal, mountain and combination thereof.

16. The method of playing a game for multiple players of claim 9, wherein said playing letter comprising a first letter of each word.
