MATTRESS WITH ADJUSTABLE HARDNESS AND COMFORT LEVELS

Abstract

A mattress with adjustable hardness and comfort levels includes a surface cover layer, a first comfort layer, a second comfort layer and a hollow space made of foam at the bottom. This mattress also provides the flexibility for consumers to change the first and second comfort layers in the mattress to achieve the most appropriate hardness level according to his body profile independently for the users on the left and right sides of the mattress. Thus, consumers may change the hardness and comfort levels of their mattress easily by changing the comfort layers according to their desires anytime.

CROSS-REFERENCE TO RELATED APPLICATION

This application claims priority under 35 U.S.C. §119 to Indonesian Patent Application No. 500201605162, filed Aug. 5, 2016, the disclosure of which is incorporated by reference herein in its entirety.

FIELD OF INVENTION

The present invention relates to a mattress where the hardness and comfort levels can be adjusted by a user by changing the arrangement of the mattress layers on the left and right sides of the mattress.

BACKGROUND OF INVENTION

The mattress has become an essential requirement for people. The consideration is the people need a mattress that can provide a comfort and getting a better quality of sleep.

Currently there are various types of mattresses available with soft, hard and even very hard characteristics. Many consumers are eventually confused when choosing and purchasing the right mattress, particularly in terms of selection of mattress hardness level that may provide comfort for himself and/or his spouse.

Errors in buying a mattress are generally happening for example, the mattress is too hard or too soft therefore it does not provide an appropriate comfort for the users. This certainly causes its own problems. A mattress had been purchased usually could not be exchanged, refunded, changed or to be set for the hardness level. To sell and buy back a new mattress will not be an effective and efficient problem solving because the consumers will have to spend additional costs.

It should be understood that each human being has a different body profile, likewise with each other spouse in regards to the mattress. Someone may require a mattress with more hardness level than needed by the spouse, but the mattress products available today only provide the same hardness level on both sides of the mattress. Thus as a result, one of the users of a mattress may feel uncomfortable when sleeping because the hardness level of mattress does not fit with his/her body profile. Furthermore, the changing needs for the hardness level of a proper mattress for him and/or his spouse may be caused by age, health, pregnancy, body weight, injuries, and other factors. The mattresses which were once initially fit may no longer be appropriate because of those changes.

SUMMARY OF INVENTION

In view of the foregoing, the present invention relates to a mattress with adjustable hardness and comfort levels by the user thus able to provide more comfortable sleeping.

The mattress with adjustable hardness and comfort levels comprises a surface cover layer, a first comfort layer, a second comfort layer and a hollow frame made of foam at the bottom.

This mattress provides flexibility for consumers to change the arrangement of layers in the mattress (i.e., comfort layers) to achieve a desired hardness level according to one's body profile independently for the users on the left and right sides of the mattress. Consumers can also change the hardness level of their mattress easily as desired by opening the zippers, adhesive or buttons to adjust the comfort layers contained in the mattress anytime.

These comfort layers are independently separate parts on each side that would be used by the user; that is, on the left and right sides of the mattress. Thus, each user may adjust the most suitable hardness level against his/her body profile on each side of the mattress without affecting the hardness level of his/her spouse.

The adjustable comfort layers comprise one or more materials in the form of foam, latex, synthetic fibers, natural fibers, gel or spring materials that can be reversed and changed on the arrangements order among each other (if more than one layer) to produce the combination of most appropriate hardness and comfort levels according to the user's preferences.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF INVENTION

Referring to FIG. 1, a mattress 10 is shown with a hardness level that can be adjusted by a user in a position already arranged and closed by a surface cover layer 12.

Referring to FIG. 2, the structure of the mattress 10 is shown, wherein layers of the mattress 10 having hardness levels can be adjusted by the user in the open position. The mattress includes a hollow frame 14 made of foam. The hollow frame 14 is filled with a first comfort layer 16 and a second comfort layer 18 where the placements of layers are interchangeable and may be reversed. The comfort layers 16, may have different levels of hardness, thus, when the arrangement is changed and their surfaces are reversed, it will produce a different overall hardness and comfort level.

Referring to FIG. 3, a large mattress 20 is shown (for example, the mattress size is 2 meters×2 meters) when used for two people. Each of the left and right sides of the mattress 20 has its own surface cover layer 22, first comfort layer 26 and second comfort layer 28, allowing the hardness and comfort levels on each side to be different. The surface cover layer 22 is a layer or cover panel of mattress surface used by the user and it can be opened partially or entirely thus the user can take and arrange the comfort layers (B) and (C).

In these embodiments, the first comfort layer 16, 26 and the second comfort layer 18, 28 can be made from foam, latex, synthetic fibers, natural fibers, gels or spring materials.

In these embodiments, the installation of the surface cover layer 12, 22 to the hollow frame 14, 24 can be made of foam can use Velcro, zippers or buttons adhesives.

It should be noted that without departing from the initial and scope of the invention, the implementation of the embodiments of the present invention is not limited to the shape, size, dimensions, models, and the placement of arrangements order. The embodiments described above are merely illustrative to clarify the present invention.

Claims

1. A mattress having an adjustable hardness level, comprising:

a surface cover layer, a first comfort layer, a second comfort layer, and a hollow frame, the first and second comfort layers being sized and shaped to be positioned inside the hollow frame, and the surface cover layer being sized and shaped to be positioned on top of the hollow frame and is adapted to be at least opened partially by a user;

wherein the first comfort layer and the second comfort layer have different hardness properties such that when the first and second comfort layers are inverted, a different level of hardness and comfort of the mattress is created.

2. The mattress according to claim 1, wherein each of the first and second comfort layers are made of one or more materials selected from the group consisting of foam, latex, synthetic fibers, natural fibers, gel and spring materials.

The mattress according to claim 1, wherein the surface cover layer and the hollow frame are sized and shaped to create two sides of the mattress, wherein each side is sized and shaped to accommodate a user lying thereon and each side is configured to have an independent level of hardness and comfort, such that the level of hardness and comfort of one side of the mattress can be changed without affecting the level of hardness and comfort of the other side of the mattress.

4. The mattress according to claim 1, wherein each of the first and second comfort layers include a buffer layer having a plurality of springs.

5. The mattress according to claim 1, wherein the surface cover layer can be released partially or entirely.
