PORTABLE BASKETBALL HOOP

A portable basketball hoop has a backboard, a rim, and a positioning structure. The backboard has a lower portion foldable and rotatable connected to the rim. The backboard has a fixing apparatus deposited on a rear side of the backboard to securely connect to a fixing object. The positioning structure is deposited at a connecting position between the backboard and the rim to provide a positioning effect to the backboard and the rim when the rim is rotated for an angle of 90 degrees relative to the backboard. The rim will not separate from the backboard when a basketball pounds the rim, and this is easy in use and provides a stabilizing effect. When a user needs to carry the portable basketball hoop, the rim is rotated toward and abuts the backboard to reduce the total volume of the portable basketball hoop, and can be stored and transported conveniently.

Description
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION 1. Field of the Invention

The present invention relates to sports equipment, and more particularly to a portable basketball hoop that may be carried easily and may be deposited on a fixing object conveniently.

2. Description of Related Art

A conventional portable basketball hoop has a rim and a backboard. The backboard is formed by a casing and a cover to enable the backboard to fold as a suitcase. The conventional portable basketball hoop has two supporting mounts deposited in the suitcase, one of the supporting mounts is mounted in the casing and the other one of the supporting mounts is mounted in the cover, and each one of the supporting mounts has two supporting frames and a vertical shaft. A connecting stud is deposited in the suitcase and has at least one positioning rod and a positioning hook cooperating with the suitcase. A tied rope device is composited by rods, recesses, U-shaped poles and hooks, and a rope-tightening device is deposited under the poles and has oblique blocks, rope-tightening hooks, rollers, and ring hooks.

However, the conventional portable basketball hoop cannot be unfolded conveniently, and the supporting mounts are deposited in the suitcase and cannot provide a preferred fixing effect, so the conventional portable basketball hoop needs to be further improved.

The invention provides a portable basketball hoop that can mitigate or obviate the aforementioned problems.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

The main objective of the present invention is to provide a portable basketball hoop that may be carried easily and may be deposited on a fixing object conveniently.

The portable basketball hoop has a backboard, a rim, and a positioning structure. The backboard has a lower portion that is foldable and rotatable and is connected to the rim. The backboard has a fixing apparatus deposited on a rear side of the backboard to securely connect to a fixing object. The positioning structure is deposited at a connecting position between the backboard and the rim to provide a positioning effect to the backboard and the rim when the rim is rotated for an angle of 90 degrees relative to the backboard. The rim will not separate from the backboard when a basketball pounds the rim, and this is easy in use and provides a stabilizing effect. When a user needs to carry the portable basketball hoop, the rim is rotated toward and abuts the backboard to reduce the total volume of the portable basketball hoop, and the portable basketball hoop can be stored and transported conveniently. Other objects, advantages and novel features of the invention will become more apparent from the following detailed description when taken in conjunction with the accompanying drawings.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENT

With reference to FIGS. 1 and 2, a portable basketball hoop in accordance with the present invention comprises a backboard 1 and a rim 2. The backboard 1 has a lower portion that is foldable and rotatable and is connected to the rim 2. With reference to FIG. 6, the backboard 1 has a fixing apparatus deposited on a rear side of the backboard 1 to securely connect to a fixing object 3.

Furthermore, with reference to FIGS. 3 and 4, a positioning structure is deposited at a connecting position between the backboard 1 and the rim 2 to provide a positioning effect to the backboard 1 and the rim 2 when the rim 2 is rotated for an angle of 90 degrees relative to the backboard 1 under an unfolded condition. The positioning structure is constituted as follows. The rim 2 has a rotating protrusion 21 formed on and protruding from a middle segment of the rim 2, and the rotating protrusion 21 has an inclined face 23 formed on a bottom side of the rotating protrusion 21. The backboard 1 has a receiving chamber 11 formed in the lower portion of the backboard 1, and the receiving chamber 11 has a slope surface 13 formed on a bottom side of the receiving chamber 11. When the rim 2 is rotated for the angle of 90 degrees relative to the backboard 1, the inclined face 23 of the rim 2 abuts the slope surface 13, and an end face of the rim 2 that is located outside two ends of the rotating protrusion 21 abuts and supports a front side of the backboard 1.

Additionally, the rotating protrusion 21 is rotatably mounted in the receiving chamber 11 and has a through hole axially formed through the two ends of the rotating protrusion 21, and the backboard 1 has two opposite edges and two pivot holes 12. The two opposite edges of the backboard 1 are deposited at the lower portion of the backboard 1 and beside the receiving chamber 11. One of the pivot holes 12 is formed through one of the two opposite edges of the backboard 1 and communicates with the receiving chamber 11, and the other one of the pivot holes 12 is formed through the other one of the two opposite edges of the backboard 1 and communicates with the receiving chamber 11. Furthermore, the two pivot holes 12 are aligned with each other via the receiving chamber 11.

With reference to FIGS. 3 and 4, the portable basketball hoop has a pivot shaft 4, the pivot shaft 4 is connected to the backboard 1 and the rim 2 by extending through one of the pivot holes 12 of the backboard 1, the through hole of the rotating protrusion 21, and the other one of the pivot holes 12 of the backboard 1 sequentially to enable the rim 2 to rotatably connect with the backboard 1. When the rim 2 is rotated for the angle of 90 degrees relative to the backboard 1, an angle between the inclined face 23 and a horizontal plane is 45 degrees, and an angle between the slope face 13 and the horizontal plane is 45 degrees.

With further reference to FIGS. 3 and 4, the rim 2 has multiple magnet blocks 5 or iron blocks deposited on the end face of the rim 2 that is located outside the two ends of the rotating protrusion 21, and the backboard 1 has multiple iron blocks or magnet blocks 5 deposited on the front side of the backboard 1 that abuts and supports the end face of the rim 2. The positions of the iron blocks or the magnet blocks 5 that are deposited on the backboard 1 are corresponding to the positions of the magnet blocks 5 or the iron blocks that are deposited on the rim 2. The magnet blocks 5 are permanent magnets.

In addition, the backboard 1 has multiple recesses 15 formed in the front side of the backboard 1, and the shapes and positions of the recesses 15 are corresponding to the shapes and the positions of the magnet blocks 5 to enable the magnet blocks 5 to mount in the recesses 15. The rear side of the backboard 1 is a rough surface, and the rough surface is formed by multiple granules 9 formed on and protruding from the rear side of the backboard 1. The rim 2 has multiple fixing portions 22 deposited on a bottom surface of the rim 2 at spaced intervals for holding a net 6. The fixing portions 22 may be hooks that are made of metal, and the net 6 is hung on the hooks.

With referenced to FIGS. 5 to 7, the fixing apparatus is a fastening belt 7, and the fastening belt 7 is detachably deposited on the rear side of the backboard 1. The fastening belt 7 has two free ends, and the two free ends of the fastening belt 7 are tied together with the fixing object 3 or fastened with the fixing object 3 by a buckle 71. Furthermore, with reference to FIGS. 2 and 5, the backboard 1 has two through slots longitudinally formed through the front side and the rear side of the backboard 1 at a spaced interval, and an indentation 14 is formed in the front side between the two through slots. The indentation 14 has a thickness same as a thickness of the fastening belt 7.

An engaging panel 8 is deposited on the rear side of the backboard 1 corresponding to the indentation 14 for fixing the fastening belt 7. Then, the two free ends of the fastening belt 7 respectively extend through the two through slots from the front side of the backboard 1 to the rear side of the backboard 1, and extend out of the engaging panel 8 to connect the fastening belt 7 securely with the backboard 1. Furthermore, the portable basketball hoop has two fastening belts 7 securely connected to the rear side of the backboard 1 at a spaced interval.

In use, with reference to FIGS. 6 to 8, each one of the fastening belts 7 is mounted around the fixing object 3 and the two free ends are tied with each other or fastened to each other by the buckle 7. Then, the backboard 1 can be held on the fixing object 3 by the fastening belts 7, and the rough surface that is formed by the granules 9 at the rear side of the backboard 1 may abut against an external surface of the fixing object 3, and this may increase the connecting strength of the backboard 1 relative to the fixing object 3. After the backboard 1 is securely mounted on the fixing object 3, the rim 2 is rotated relative to the backboard 1 to enable the inclined face 23 of the rim 2 to abut the slope face 13 of the backboard 1, and to enable the magnet blocks 5 that are deposited on the end face of the rim 2 to magnetically attract the magnet blocks 5 that are deposited on the front side of the backboard 1. Then, the rim 2 can be positioned with the backboard 1 at the angle of 90 degrees by the positioning structure and the magnetic blocks 5.

With reference to FIGS. 1 and 9, after use of the portable basketball hoop, the fastening belts 7 are unfastened to separate the backboard 1 from the fixing object 3, and the rim 2 is rotated toward the backboard 1 to enable the inclined face 23 of the rim 2 to separate from the slope face 13 of the backboard. Then, the rim 2 abuts on the front side of the backboard 1, and the net 6 can be held with the rim 2 and the backboard 1 by the fastening belts 7 crossing the front side of the backboard 1 and the rim 2 and tied with each other as shown in FIG. 9.

According to the above-mentioned features and structures, during the unfolding process, the rim 2 can be rotated relative to the backboard 1 for the angle of 90 degrees and can be positioned securely by the positioning structure and the magnet blocks 5, and the rim 2 will not separate from the backboard 1 when a basketball pounds the rim 2 under the unfolded condition, and this is easy in use and may provide a stabilizing effect. When a user needs to carry the portable basketball hoop, the rim 2 is rotated toward the backboard 1 to abut the front side of the backboard 1, and this may reduce the total volume of the portable basketball hoop so that the portable basketball hoop can be stored and transported conveniently. Consequently, the portable basketball hoop is very beneficial to hold basketball activities in the outdoors. In use, the backboard 1 is securely deposited on the fixing object 3 such as a vertical shaft or a stud, and the rim 2 is rotated relative to the backboard 1 for the angle of 90 degrees. Then, the users may use the portable basketball hoop to play basketball. After use of the portable basketball hoop, the rim 2 is rotated toward the backboard 1 under a folded condition as shown in FIG. 9, and this is convenient in use and transport.

Even though numerous characteristics and advantages of the present invention have been set forth in the foregoing description, together with details of the structure and features of the invention, the disclosure is illustrative only. Changes may be made in the details, especially in matters of shape, size, and arrangement of parts within the principles of the invention to the full extent indicated by the broad general meaning of the terms in which the appended claims are expressed.

Claims

1. A portable basketball hoop having:

a backboard having a lower portion; a rear side being a rough surface, and formed by multiple granules formed on and protruding from the rear side of the backboard; and a fixing apparatus deposited on the rear side of the backboard to securely connect to a fixing object;
a rim being foldable and rotatable and connected to the lower portion of the backboard; and
a positioning structure deposited at a connecting position between the backboard and the rim to provide a positioning effect to the backboard and the rim when the rim is rotated for an angle of 90 degrees relative to the backboard, and having a rotating protrusion formed on and protruding from a middle segment of the rim and having an inclined face formed on a bottom side of the rotating protrusion; and a receiving chamber formed in the lower portion of the backboard and having a slope surface formed on a bottom side of the receiving chamber;
wherein when the rim is rotated for the angle of 90 degrees relative to the backboard, the inclined face abuts the slope surface, and an end face of the rim that is located outside two ends of the rotating protrusion abuts and supports a front side of the backboard;
wherein the rim has multiple magnet blocks or iron blocks deposited on the end face of the rim that is located outside the two ends of the rotating protrusion, the backboard has multiple iron blocks or magnet blocks deposited on the front side of the backboard that abuts and supports the end face of the rim, and the positions of the iron blocks or the magnet blocks of the backboard correspond to the positions of the magnet blocks or the iron blocks of the rim.

3. The portable basketball hoop as claimed in claim 1, wherein

the rotating protrusion is rotatably mounted in the receiving chamber and has a through hole axially formed through the two ends of the rotating protrusion;
the backboard has two opposite edges deposited at the lower portion of the backboard and beside the receiving chamber; and two pivot holes, one of the two pivot holes formed through one of the two opposite edges of the backboard and communicating with the receiving chamber, and the other one of the two pivot holes formed through the other one of the two opposite edges of the backboard and communicating with the receiving chamber; and
the portable basketball hoop has a pivot shaft connected to the backboard and the rim by extending through one of the two pivot holes of the backboard, the through hole of the rotating protrusion, and the other one of the two pivot holes of the backboard sequentially to enable the rim to rotatably connect with the backboard.

6. The portable basketball hoop as claimed in claim 3, wherein

each one of the magnet blocks is a permanent magnet.

7. The portable basketball hoop as claimed in claim 1, wherein

the rim has multiple fixing portions deposited on a bottom surface of the rim at spaced intervals for holding a net; and
the fixing portions are hooks and are made of metal, and the net is hung on the hooks.

the rim has multiple fixing portions deposited on a bottom surface of the rim at spaced intervals for holding a net; and

The portable basketball hoop as claimed in claim 1, wherein the fixing apparatus is a fastening belt, and the fastening belt is detachably deposited on the rear side of the backboard and has two free ends, and the two free ends of the fastening belt are tied together with the fixing object or fastened with the fixing object by a buckle.

The portable basketball hoop as claimed in claim 6, wherein the fixing apparatus is a fastening belt, and the fastening belt is detachably deposited on the rear side of the backboard and has two free ends, and the two free ends of the fastening belt are tied together with the fixing object or fastened with the fixing object by a buckle.

19. The portable basketball hoop as claimed in claim 13, wherein

the backboard has two through slots longitudinally formed through the front side and the rear side of the backboard at a spaced interval, and an indentation formed in the front side between the two through slots and having a thickness same as a thickness of the fastening belt;
the portable basketball hoop has an engaging panel deposited on the rear side of the backboard corresponding to the indentation for fixing the fastening belt; and
the two free ends of the fastening belt respectively extend through the two through slots from the front side of the backboard to the rear side of the backboard, and extend out of the engaging panel to connect the fastening belt securely with the backboard.

the backboard has two through slots longitudinally formed through the front side and the rear side of the backboard at a spaced interval, and an indentation formed in the front side between the two through slots and having a thickness same as a thickness of the fastening belt;
the portable basketball hoop has an engaging panel deposited on the rear side of the backboard corresponding to the indentation for fixing the fastening belt; and
the two free ends of the fastening belt respectively extend through the two through slots from the front side of the backboard to the rear side of the backboard, and extend out of the engaging panel to connect the fastening belt securely with the backboard.

the portable basketball hoop has an engaging panel deposited on the rear side of the backboard corresponding to the indentation for fixing the fastening belt; and
the two free ends of the fastening belt respectively extend through the two through slots from the front side of the backboard to the rear side of the backboard, and extend out of the engaging panel to connect the fastening belt securely with the backboard.

25. The portable basketball hoop as claimed in claim 19, wherein the portable basketball hoop has two fastening belts securely connected to the rear side of the backboard at a spaced interval.
