SECURE BAG

A secure bag incorporates a body, a zipper with two sliders, two zipper pullers attached to the two sliders respectively, and a plurality of secure holders attached to the body. Each zipper puller has an aperture. Each secure holder within the plurality of secure holders and the outer surface of the body form a hole. When the two pullers are positioned between two consecutive secure holders within the plurality of secure holders, and a shank of a secure bag lock extends through the two apertures and the two holes formed by the two consecutive secure holders and the body and wraps around a fixture, the bag is securely attached to the fixture.

FIELD OF THE DISCLOSURE

The present invention generally relates to bags, and more particularly relates to a secure bag. More particularly still, the present disclosure relates to a secure bag preventing theft when left unattended.

DESCRIPTION OF BACKGROUND

Bag is one of the most popular types of containers. It is an age old tool for people to transport personal items. There are many types of bags, such as backpacks, handbags, athletic bags, duffel bags, satchel bags, etc. Bags usually incorporate openings for placing items into the bags and taking the items out of the bags. A bag opening is oftentimes equipped with a zipper for opening and closing the bag. A bag zipper usually includes one or two sliders for locking teeth attached to two corresponding zipper tapes. For example, one zipper tape is attached to a cover of a bag while another zipper tape is attached to a body of the bag. A zipper slider is operatively coupled to a zipper puller. The zipper puller is said to be attached to the zipper slider. The zipper puller allows a user to pull the zipper slider along the zipper tapes for closing or opening the bag.

Oftentimes, bags incorporate two zippers. The puller of each zipper incorporates an aperture. When a bag is closed, the two zipper are next to each other. In the closed state, a small lock can be used to lock the bag with the shackle (or shank) of the small lock extending through the two apertures of the two zipper pullers. The bag is thus locked and cannot be easily opened by a person without opening the lock first.

However, the locked bag can still be stolen without the lock opened. Sometime, it is highly desirable to safe guard the bag when it is unattended. For example, a person (such as a college student or a visitor at a public place) may need to leave her/his bag behind when attending to a certain matter or event. As an additional example, a person may need to access a facility in which a carrying bag is not allowed. In such a case, the bag has to be left unattended.

Accordingly, there is a need for a secure bag that can be secured while unattended by its owner.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION

Turning to the Figures and to FIG. 1 in particular, a secure bag is shown and generally indicated at 100. The illustrative secure bag 100 includes a body 130 and a zipper 102. The zipper 102 includes two zipper tapes attached to two sides of an opening of the bag 100. The bag 100 is in a closed state in FIG. 1, in which the zipper 102 is closed. The zipper 102 includes two sliders 104 and 106. The sliders 104-106 include two respective pullers 108 and 110. At one end, the zipper pullers 108-110 are attached to the two corresponding sliders 104-106 for pulling the sliders 104-106 to open and close the bag 100. At the other end, the zipper pullers 108-110 each incorporate an aperture for receiving the shank of a secure bag lock 120.

In one implementation, the secure bag lock 120 is a cable lock with a digital lock 122. The cable portion (also referred to herein as shank) of the cable lock 120 is not absolutely rigid. In other words, it is reflexible to certain degree. In an alternate embodiment, the lock 120 has a rigid shank. For example, it is a rigid bicycle U-lock with a metal shank. As used herein, the secure bag lock 120 includes a shank and a lock.

The secure bag 100 further incorporates a plurality of secure holders 112, 114 and 116. The plurality of secure holders includes at least two secure holders. The plurality of holders 112-116 each is attached to the body of the bag 100. They can also be integrally formed as part of the bag 100. As used herein, the plurality of secure holders are always said to be attached to the bag 100. The plurality of secure holders 112-116 are made of, for example, metal materials, fabrics, or compound materials. When each of the plurality of secure holders 112-116 is attached to the bag 100, the secure holder and the outer surface of the bag 100 form a hole. The hole is adapted to receive the shank of the secure lock 120.

To secure the bag 100 against theft when unattended, a user pulls the pullers 108-110 for the zipper sliders 104-106 to close the bag 100. The pullers 108-110 are positive between two consecutive secure holders, such as the holders 114-116 as shown in FIG. 1. The user then holds the shank of the lock 120 and lets it run through the hole between the holder 116 and the body 130, the puller's 110 aperture, the puller' 108 aperture, and the hole between the holder 114 and the body 130. Optionally, the shank runs through the hole between the holder 112 and the body 130 as well. In addition, the user wraps the shank around a fixture 140, such as a frame of a bike stand. Thereafter, the user operates the lock 122 to lock the bag 100 to the fixture 140. In such a case, the bag 100 is said to be attached to the fixture 140.

The plurality of holders 112-116 are positioned apart with a space. However, the space between two consecutive holders is small such that, when in the attached position as shown in FIG. 1, the shank cannot be bent and pulled away from the bag 100 by hand between the holders 114-116 to allow a user to pull the sliders 104-106 apart to open the bag 100. For example, the space is less than a quarter inch in length between two consecutive holders. To achieve the purpose, the holes between the body 130 and the plurality of secure holders 112-116 are only big enough to receive the shank of the secure lock 120.

Referring to FIG. 2, the bag 100 in an open state is shown. In the open state, the zipper sliders 104-106 are pulled apart to the open the zipper 102. The secure bag lock 120 is separate from the zippers 104-106. The lock portion (such as a digital locking mechanism) 122 of the secure lock 120 is disposed in a side pocket 124 of the bag 100. The shank of the secure lock 120 extends through the holes of the secure holders 112-116.

Obviously, many additional modifications and variations of the present disclosure are possible in light of the above teachings. Thus, it is to be understood that, within the scope of the appended claims, the disclosure may be practiced otherwise than is specifically described above. For example, the bag 100 is backpack or an athletic bag.

The foregoing description of the disclosure has been presented for purposes of illustration and description, and is not intended to be exhaustive or to limit the disclosure to the precise form disclosed. The description was selected to best explain the principles of the present teachings and practical application of these principles to enable others skilled in the art to best utilize the disclosure in various embodiments and various modifications as are suited to the particular use contemplated. It should be recognized that the words “a” or “an” are intended to include both the singular and the plural. Conversely, any reference to plural elements shall, where appropriate, include the singular.

It is intended that the scope of the disclosure not be limited by the specification, but be defined by the claims set forth below. In addition, although narrow claims may be presented below, it should be recognized that the scope of this invention is much broader than presented by the claim(s). It is intended that broader claims will be submitted in one or more applications that claim the benefit of priority from this application. Insofar as the description above and the accompanying drawings disclose additional subject matter that is not within the scope of the claim or claims below, the additional inventions are not dedicated to the public and the right to file one or more applications to claim such additional inventions is reserved.
