A tabletop equipped luggage assembly having an on-demand work surface includes a suitcase that defines an internal space. A first handle and a second handle are coupled respectively to a first face and a second face of the suitcase. The first handle and the second handle are extendable. A plate has a first edge that is pivotally coupled to a top end of the second handle. The plate is reversibly positionable in a stowed configuration wherein the plate is substantially parallel to the second handle and a deployed configuration wherein the plate is substantially perpendicular to the second handle. The plate is reversibly couplable to an upper end of the first handle. The plate is positioned to couple to the first handle such that the plate is positioned substantially perpendicular to both the first handle and the second handle. The plate is configured to position items of the user.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION (1) Field of the Invention (2) Description of Related Art Including Information Disclosed Under 37 CFR 1.97 and 1.98.The disclosure and prior art relates to luggage assemblies and more particularly pertains to a new luggage assembly having an on-demand work surface.
BRIEF SUMMARY OF THE INVENTIONAn embodiment of the disclosure meets the needs presented above by generally comprising a suitcase that defines an internal space. A first handle and a second handle are coupled respectively to a first face and a second face of the suitcase. The first handle and the second handle are extendable. A plate has a first edge that is pivotally coupled to a top end of the second handle. The plate is reversibly positionable in a stowed configuration wherein the plate is substantially parallel to the second handle and a deployed configuration wherein the plate is substantially perpendicular to the second handle. The plate is reversibly couplable to an upper end of the first handle. The plate is positioned to couple to the first handle such that the plate is positioned substantially perpendicular to both the first handle and the second handle. The plate is configured to position items of the user.

The first handle 16 and the second handle 20 are positioned on the suitcase 12 such that the first handle 16 and the second handle 20 are configured to selectively position in retracted and extended configurations.
The first handle 16 and second handle 20 each comprise a pair of rods 24 and a centerpiece 26. The rods 24 each have a first end 28 and a second end 30. The first ends 28 are coupled to the suitcase 12. The second ends 30 are coupled singly to opposing endpoints 32 of a respective centerpiece 26. In one embodiment, each rod 24 comprises a plurality of nested sections 34 such that the rod 24 is telescopic. In another embodiment, each plurality of nested sections 34 comprises three nested sections 34.
A plurality of dividers 36 is positioned in the internal space 14 and is coupled to the suitcase 12. The dividers 36 define a plurality of compartments 38 within the internal space 14. A plurality of closures 40 is coupled to the suitcase 12. Each closure 40 is positioned proximate to a respective compartment 38. The closures 40 are configured to reversibly open and close the compartments 38, such that the compartments 38 are accessible to a user. In one embodiment, the closures 40 comprise zippers 42.
A plate 44 has a first edge 46 that is pivotally coupled to a top end 48 of the second handle 20. The plate 44 is positionable in a stowed configuration, wherein the plate 44 is substantially parallel to the second handle 20. The plate 44 also is positionable in a deployed configuration, wherein the plate 44 is substantially perpendicular to the second handle 20. The plate 44 is reversibly couplable to an upper end 50 of the first handle 16. In one embodiment, the plate 44 is substantially rectangularly shaped. In another embodiment, the plate 44 and the second handle 20 are reversibly stowable in a respective compartment 38 that is positioned adjacent to the second face 22.
A plurality of couplers 52 is coupled to the plate 44 proximate to the first edge 46. The couplers 52 are pivotally coupled to the second handle 20. The couplers 52 are positioned on the plate 44 such that the couplers 52 are positioned to pivot relative to the second handle 20, such that the plate 44 is reversibly positionable in the stowed and deployed configurations. In one embodiment, the couplers 52 comprise tubes 54. The respective centerpiece 26 is positioned through the tubes 54 to pivotally couple the second handle 20 to the plate 44. In another embodiment, the plurality of couplers 52 comprises two couplers 52 that are positioned singly proximate to the opposing endpoints 32 of the respective centerpiece 26.
A plurality of fasteners 56 is coupled to the plate 44 proximate to a second edge 58 of the plate 44. The fasteners 56 are configured to reversibly couple to the first handle 16. The fasteners 56 are positioned on the plate 44 such that the fasteners 56 are positioned to couple to the first handle 16 to couple the plate 44 to the first handle 16. In one embodiment, the fasteners 56 comprise clips 60. In another embodiment, the plurality of fasteners 56 comprises two fasteners 56 that are positioned singly proximate to the opposing endpoints 32 of the respective centerpiece 26.
A lip 62 is coupled to and extends substantially perpendicularly from the second edge 58 of the plate 44. The lip 62 extends downwardly when the plate 44 is coupled to the first handle 16.
A plurality of rollers 64 is coupled to a bottom face 66 of the suitcase 12. The rollers 64 are positioned on the suitcase 12 such that the rollers 64 are configured for rolling along a surface. In one embodiment, the rollers 64 comprise wheels 68. In another embodiment, the plurality of rollers 64 comprises two rollers 64 that are coupled to the bottom face 66 proximate to the first face 18 and opposing side faces 70 of the suitcase 12. In this embodiment, the plurality of rollers 64 also comprises two rollers 64 that are coupled to the bottom face 66 proximate to the second face 22 and the opposing side faces 70 of the suitcase 12.
In one embodiment, a third handle 72 is coupled to a top face 74 of the suitcase 12. The third handle 72 is positioned on the suitcase 12 such that the third handle 72 is configured for grasping in a hand of a user so that the suitcase 12 is liftable. In another embodiment, the third handle 72 is substantially centrally positioned on the top face 74. In yet another embodiment, the third handle 72 comprises a strap 76 that has opposing ends 78. The opposing ends 78 are coupled to the top face 74 of the suitcase 12.
In use, the plate 44 and the second handle 20 are reversibly stowable in a respective compartment 38 that is positioned adjacent to the second face 22. The first handle 16 and the second handle 20 are configured to selectively position in the retracted and extended configurations. The plate 44 is positioned on the second handle 20 such that the plate 44 is positioned to couple to the first handle 16 so that the plate 44 is positioned substantially perpendicular to both the first handle 16 and the second handle 20. The plate 44 is thus configured to position items of the user.
With respect to the above description then, it is to be realized that the optimum dimensional relationships for the parts of an embodiment enabled by the disclosure, to include variations in size, materials, shape, form, function and manner of operation, assembly and use, are deemed readily apparent and obvious to one skilled in the art, and all equivalent relationships to those illustrated in the drawings and described in the specification are intended to be encompassed by an embodiment of the disclosure.
Therefore, the foregoing is considered as illustrative only of the principles of the disclosure. Further, since numerous modifications and changes will readily occur to those skilled in the art, it is not desired to limit the disclosure to the exact construction and operation shown and described, and accordingly, all suitable modifications and equivalents may be resorted to, falling within the scope of the disclosure. In this patent document, the word “comprising” is used in its non-limiting sense to mean that items following the word are included, but items not specifically mentioned are not excluded. A reference to an element by the indefinite article “a” does not exclude the possibility that more than one of the element is present, unless the context clearly requires that there be only one of the elements.
Claims
1. A tabletop equipped luggage assembly comprising:
- a suitcase defining an internal space;
- a first handle coupled to a first face of said suitcase, said first handle being extendable, wherein said first handle is positioned on said suitcase such that said first handle is configured for selective positioning in a retracted configuration and an extended configuration;
- a second handle coupled to a second face of said suitcase, said second handle being extendable, wherein second handle is positioned on said suitcase such that said second handle is configured for selective positioning in a retracted configuration and an extended configuration;
- a plate having a first edge, said first edge being pivotally coupled to a top end of said second handle such that said plate is reversibly positionable in a stowed configuration, wherein said plate is substantially parallel to said second handle, and a deployed configuration, wherein said plate is substantially perpendicular to said second handle, said plate being reversibly couplable to an upper end of said first handle; and
- wherein said first handle and said second handle are positioned on said suitcase such that said first handle and said second handle are configured for selective positioning in the retracted and extended configurations, wherein said plate is positioned on said second handle such that said plate is positioned to couple to said first handle such that said plate is positioned substantially perpendicular to both said first handle and said second handle, wherein said plate is configured for positioning items of the user.
2. The assembly of claim 1, further including said first handle and said second handle each comprising a pair of rods and a centerpiece, said rods each having a first end and a second end, said first ends being coupled to said suitcase, said second ends being coupled singly to opposing endpoints of a respective said centerpiece, each said rod comprising a plurality of nested sections such that said rod is telescopic.
3. The assembly of claim 2, further including said plurality of nested sections comprising three said nested sections.
4. The assembly of claim 1, further comprising:
- a plurality of dividers, said plurality of dividers positioned in said internal space and coupled to said suitcase defining a plurality of compartments within said internal space;
- a plurality of closures coupled to said suitcase, each said closure being positioned proximate to a respective said compartment; and
- wherein said closures are positioned on said suitcase such that said closures are configured for reversibly opening and closing said compartments such that said compartments are accessible to a user.
5. The assembly of claim 4, further including said closures comprising zippers.
6. The assembly of claim 1, further including said plate being substantially rectangularly shaped.
7. The assembly of claim 4, further including said plate and said second handle being reversibly stowable in a respective said compartment positioned adjacent to said second face.
8. The assembly of claim 2, further comprising:
- a plurality of couplers coupled to said plate proximate to said first edge, said couplers being pivotally coupled to said second handle;
- a plurality of fasteners coupled to said plate proximate to a second edge of said plate, said fasteners being configured for reversibly coupling to said first handle; and
- wherein said couplers are positioned on said plate such that said couplers are positioned to pivot relative to said second handle such that said plate is reversibly positionable in the stowed and deployed configurations, wherein said fasteners are positioned on said plate such that said fasteners are positioned to couple to said first handle to couple said plate to said first handle.
9. The assembly of claim 8, further comprising:
- said couplers comprising tubes;
- said fasteners comprising clips; and
- wherein said respective said centerpiece is positioned through said tubes to pivotally couple said second handle to said plate.
10. The assembly of claim 8, further comprising:
- said plurality of couplers comprising two said couplers positioned singly proximate to said opposing endpoints of said respective said centerpiece; and
- said plurality of fasteners comprising two said fasteners positioned singly proximate to said opposing endpoints of said respective said centerpiece.
11. The assembly of claim 1, further including a lip coupled to and extending substantially perpendicularly from a second edge of said plate such that said lip extends downwardly when said plate is coupled to said first handle.
12. The assembly of claim 1, further including a plurality of rollers coupled to a bottom face of said suitcase, wherein said rollers are positioned on said suitcase such that said rollers are configured for rolling along a surface.
13. The assembly of claim 12, further including said rollers comprising wheels.
14. The assembly of claim 12, further comprising:
- said plurality of rollers comprising two said rollers coupled to said bottom face proximate to said first face and opposing side faces of said suitcase; and
- said plurality of rollers comprising two said rollers coupled to said bottom face proximate to said second face and said opposing side faces of said suitcase.
15. The assembly of claim 1, further including a third handle coupled to a top face of said suitcase, wherein said third handle is positioned on said suitcase such that said third handle is configured for grasping in a hand of a user such that said suitcase is liftable.
16. The assembly of claim 15, further including said third handle being substantially centrally positioned on said top face.
17. The assembly of claim 15, further including said third handle comprising a strap having opposing ends, said opposing ends being coupled to said top face of said suitcase.
18. A tabletop equipped luggage assembly comprising:
- a suitcase defining an internal space;
- a first handle coupled to a first face of said suitcase, said first handle being extendable, wherein said first handle is positioned on said suitcase such that said first handle is configured for selective positioning in a retracted configuration and an extended configuration;
- a second handle coupled to a second face of said suitcase, said second handle being extendable, wherein second handle is positioned on said suitcase such that said second handle is configured for selective positioning in a retracted configuration and an extended configuration;
- said first handle and said second handle each comprising a pair of rods and a centerpiece, said rods each having a first end and a second end, said first ends being coupled to said suitcase, said second ends being coupled singly to opposing endpoints of a respective said centerpiece, each said rod comprising a plurality of nested sections such that said rod is telescopic, said plurality of nested sections comprising three said nested sections;
- a plurality of dividers, said plurality of dividers positioned in said internal space and coupled to said suitcase defining a plurality of compartments within said internal space;
- a plurality of closures coupled to said suitcase, each said closure being positioned proximate to a respective said compartment, wherein said closures are positioned on said suitcase such that said closures are configured for reversibly opening and closing said compartments such that said compartments are accessible to a user, said closures comprising zippers;
- a plate having a first edge, said first edge being pivotally coupled to a top end of said second handle such that said plate is reversibly positionable in a stowed configuration, wherein said plate is substantially parallel to said second handle, and a deployed configuration, wherein said plate is substantially perpendicular to said second handle, said plate being reversibly couplable to an upper end of said first handle, said plate being substantially rectangularly shaped, said plate and said second handle being reversibly stowable in a respective said compartment positioned adjacent to said second face;
- a plurality of couplers coupled to said plate proximate to said first edge, said couplers being pivotally coupled to said second handle, wherein said couplers are positioned on said plate such that said couplers are positioned to pivot relative to said second handle such that said plate is reversibly positionable in the stowed and deployed configurations, said couplers comprising tubes, wherein said respective said centerpiece is positioned through said tubes to pivotally couple said second handle to said plate, said plurality of couplers comprising two said couplers positioned singly proximate to said opposing endpoints of said respective said centerpiece;
- a plurality of fasteners coupled to said plate proximate to a second edge of said plate, said fasteners being configured for reversibly coupling to said first handle, wherein said fasteners are positioned on said plate such that said fasteners are positioned to couple to said first handle to couple said plate to said first handle, said fasteners comprising clips, said plurality of fasteners comprising two said fasteners positioned singly proximate to said opposing endpoints of said respective said centerpiece;
- a lip coupled to and extending substantially perpendicularly from said second edge of said plate such that said lip extends downwardly when said plate is coupled to said first handle;
- a plurality of rollers coupled to a bottom face of said suitcase, wherein said rollers are positioned on said suitcase such that said rollers are configured for rolling along a surface, said rollers comprising wheels, said plurality of rollers comprising two said rollers coupled to said bottom face proximate to said first face and opposing side faces of said suitcase, said plurality of rollers comprising two said rollers coupled to said bottom face proximate to said second face and said opposing side faces of said suitcase;
- a third handle coupled to a top face of said suitcase, wherein said third handle is positioned on said suitcase such that said third handle is configured for grasping in a hand of a user such that said suitcase is liftable, said third handle being substantially centrally positioned on said top face, said third handle comprising a strap having opposing ends, said opposing ends being coupled to said top face of said suitcase; and
- wherein said plate and said second handle are reversibly stowable in a respective said compartment positioned adjacent to said second face, wherein said first handle and said second handle are positioned on said suitcase such that said first handle and said second handle are configured for selective positioning in the retracted and extended configurations, wherein said plate is positioned on said second handle such that said plate is positioned to couple to said first handle such that said plate is positioned substantially perpendicular to both said first handle and said second handle, wherein said plate is configured for positioning items of the user.
