An orthopedic sock for provision of arch support includes a sleeve that defines an interior space. The sleeve is resilient. An opening is positioned in the sleeve. A support is coupled to the sleeve and extends into the interior space. The support is resilient. The opening is positioned in the sleeve such that the opening is configured to insert a foot of a user into the interior space. The support is positioned in the interior space such that the support is configured to abut and buttress an arch of the foot of the user.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

The disclosure and prior art relates to orthopedic socks and more particularly pertains to a new orthopedic sock for provision of arch support.

BRIEF SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

An embodiment of the disclosure meets the needs presented above by generally comprising a sleeve that defines an interior space. The sleeve is resilient. An opening is positioned in the sleeve. A support is coupled to the sleeve and extends into the interior space. The support is resilient. The opening is positioned in the sleeve such that the opening is configured to insert a foot of a user into the interior space. The support is positioned in the interior space such that the support is configured to abut and buttress an arch of the foot of the user.

There has thus been outlined, rather broadly, the more important features of the disclosure in order that the detailed description thereof that follows may be better understood, and in order that the present contribution to the art may be better appreciated. There are additional features of the disclosure that will be described hereinafter and which will form the subject matter of the claims appended hereto.

The objects of the disclosure, along with the various features of novelty which characterize the disclosure, are pointed out with particularity in the claims annexed to and forming a part of this disclosure.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

With reference now to the drawings, and in particular to FIGS. 1 through 5 thereof, a new orthopedic sock embodying the principles and concepts of an embodiment of the disclosure and generally designated by the reference numeral 10 will be described.

As best illustrated in FIGS. 1 through 5, the orthopedic sock 10 generally comprises a sleeve 12 that defines an interior space 14. The sleeve 12 is resilient. In one embodiment, the sleeve 12 is sized to substantially cover a foot of a user. In another embodiment, the sleeve 12 is sized to cover the foot of the user and at least a portion of a lower leg of the user.

An opening 16 is positioned in the sleeve 12. The opening 16 is positioned in the sleeve 12 such that the opening 16 is configured to insert the foot of the user into the interior space 14.

A support 18 is coupled to the sleeve 12 and extends into the interior space 14. The support 18 is resilient. The support 18 is positioned in the interior space 14 such that the support 18 is configured to abut and buttress an arch of the foot of the user. The support 18 is positioned on a bottom 20 of the sleeve 12 proximate to a respective opposing side 22 of the sleeve 12. The sleeve 12 extends from proximate to a heal section 24 of the sleeve 12 toward a toe end 26 of the sleeve 12.

In one embodiment, the support 18 is oblong such that a wide end 28 of the support 18 is positioned proximate to the heal section 24 and a narrow end 30 of the support 18 is positioned distal from the heal section 24. The support 18 has a top surface 32. In one embodiment, the top surface 32 is arcuate. Opposing side surfaces 34 of the support 18 are curved and the support 18 is dimensionally thicker proximate to the wide end 28 than the narrow end 30.

In another embodiment a cover 36 is coupled to an inner surface 38 of the sleeve 12 and defines a chamber 40 within the interior space 14. The chamber 40 is substantially complementary to the support 18. In this embodiment, the support 18 is positioned within the chamber 40. The cover 36 is positioned on the sleeve 12 such that the chamber 40 is positioned to retain the support 18 in abutment to the arch of the foot that is positioned in the sleeve 12. In yet another embodiment, the cover 36 is integral to the sleeve 12.

In use the opening 16 is positioned in the sleeve 12 such that the opening 16 is configured to insert the foot of the user into the interior space 14. The cover 36 is positioned on the sleeve 12 such that the chamber 40 is positioned to retain the support 18 in abutment to the arch of the foot that is positioned in the sleeve 12. The support 18 is configured to buttress the arch of the foot of the user.

With respect to the above description then, it is to be realized that the optimum dimensional relationships for the parts of an embodiment enabled by the disclosure, to include variations in size, materials, shape, form, function and manner of operation, assembly and use, are deemed readily apparent and obvious to one skilled in the art, and all equivalent relationships to those illustrated in the drawings and described in the specification are intended to be encompassed by an embodiment of the disclosure.

Therefore, the foregoing is considered as illustrative only of the principles of the disclosure. Further, since numerous modifications and changes will readily occur to those skilled in the art, it is not desired to limit the disclosure to the exact construction and operation shown and described, and accordingly, all suitable modifications and equivalents may be resorted to, falling within the scope of the disclosure. In this patent document, the word “comprising” is used in its non-limiting sense to mean that items following the word are included, but items not specifically mentioned are not excluded. A reference to an element by the indefinite article “a” does not exclude the possibility that more than one of the element is present, unless the context clearly requires that there be only one of the elements.

Claims

1. An orthopedic sock comprising:

a sleeve defining an interior space, said sleeve being resilient;
an opening positioned in said sleeve;
a support coupled to said sleeve and extending into said interior space, said support being resilient; and
wherein said opening is positioned in said sleeve such that said opening is configured for insertion of a foot of a user into said interior space, wherein said support is positioned in said interior space such that said support is configured to abut and buttress an arch of the foot of the user.

2. The sock of claim 1, further including said sleeve being sized to substantially cover the foot of a user.

3. The sock of claim 1, further including said sleeve being sized to cover the foot of the user and at least a portion of a lower leg of the user.

4. The sock of claim 1, further including said support being positioned on a bottom of said sleeve proximate to a respective opposing side of said sleeve.

5. The sock of claim 4, further including said sleeve extending from proximate to a heal section of said sleeve toward a toe end of said sleeve.

6. The sock of claim 5, further including said support being oblong such that a wide end of said support is positioned proximate to said heal section and a narrow end of said support is positioned distal from said heal section.

7. The sock of claim 6, further including said support having a top surface, said top surface being arcuate such that opposing side surfaces of said support are curved and wherein said support is dimensionally thicker proximate to said wide end than said narrow end.

8. The sock of claim 1, further including a cover, said cover being coupled to an inner surface of said sleeve defining a chamber within said interior space, said chamber being substantially complementary to said support, said support being positioned within said chamber, wherein said cover is positioned on said sleeve such that said chamber is positioned to retain said support in abutment to the arch of the foot positioned in said sleeve.

9. The sock of claim 1, further including said cover being integral to said sleeve.

10. An orthopedic sock comprising:

a sleeve defining an interior space, said sleeve being resilient, said sleeve being sized to substantially cover a foot of a user, said sleeve being sized to cover the foot of the user and at least a portion of a lower leg of the user;
an opening positioned in said sleeve, wherein said opening is positioned in said sleeve such that said opening is configured for insertion of the foot of the user into said interior space;
a support coupled to said sleeve and extending into said interior space, said support being resilient, wherein said support is positioned in said interior space such that said support is configured to abut and buttress an arch of the foot of the user, said support being positioned on a bottom of said sleeve proximate to a respective opposing side of said sleeve, said sleeve extending from proximate to a heal section of said sleeve toward a toe end of said sleeve, said support being oblong such that a wide end of said support is positioned proximate to said heal section and a narrow end of said support is positioned distal from said heal section, said support having a top surface, said top surface being arcuate such that opposing side surfaces of said support are curved and wherein said support is dimensionally thicker proximate to said wide end than said narrow end;
a cover, said cover being coupled to an inner surface of said sleeve defining a chamber within said interior space, said chamber being substantially complementary to said support, said support being positioned within said chamber, wherein said cover is positioned on said sleeve such that said chamber is positioned to retain said support in abutment to the arch of the foot positioned in said sleeve, said cover being integral to said sleeve; and
wherein said opening is positioned in said sleeve such that said opening is configured for insertion of the foot of the user into said interior space, wherein said cover is positioned on said sleeve such that said chamber is positioned to retain said support in abutment to the arch of the foot positioned in said sleeve such that said support is configured to buttress the arch of the foot of the user.
