Description
CROSS-REFERENCE TO RELATED APPLICATION

This application claims the benefit of priority of U.S. provisional application No. 62/497,288, filed Nov. 15, 2016, the contents of which are herein incorporated by reference.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

The present invention relates to hair curling and, more particularly, to a hair curler device, kit, and method.

A hair iron is a tool used to change the structure of the hair using heat. There are three general kinds: curling irons, used to make the hair curly, straightening irons, commonly called straighteners or flat irons, used to straighten the hair, and crimping irons, used to create crimps of the desired size in the hair. Hair irons damage hair over time.

A hair roller or hair curler is a small tube that is rolled into a person's hair in order to curl it, or to straighten curly hair, making a new hairstyle. However, a hair roller makes a user's hair tight and stagnant as opposed to making the hair wavy and loose.

As can be seen, there is a need for a hair curling device that makes hair wavy without causing damage.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

In one aspect of the present invention, a hair curling device comprises: a base comprising an inner edge forming an opening; and a pair of legs extending vertically from the base, wherein a gap is formed in between the pair of legs and the pair of legs are substantially parallel relative to one another.

In another aspect of the present invention, a hair curling kit comprises: a hair curling device comprising a base comprising an inner edge forming an opening and a pair of legs extending vertically from the base, wherein a gap is formed in between the pair of legs and the pair of legs are substantially parallel relative to one another; and a clip comprising a pair of jaws pivotally attached and spring biased together.

In another aspect of the present invention, a method of curling hair comprises the steps of: providing a hair curling device comprising: a base comprising an inner edge forming an opening; and a pair of legs extending vertically from the base, wherein a gap is formed in between the pair of legs and the pair of legs are substantially parallel relative to one another; pulling a portion of a user's hair through the opening of the base; weaving the portion of the user's hair around the pair of legs; and clipping the portion of the user's hair to the pair of legs using a clip.

These and other features, aspects and advantages of the present invention will become better understood with reference to the following drawings, description and claims.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

The following detailed description is of the best currently contemplated modes of carrying out exemplary embodiments of the invention. The description is not to be taken in a limiting sense, but is made merely for the purpose of illustrating the general principles of the invention, since the scope of the invention is best defined by the appended claims.

Referring to FIGS. 1 through 8, the present invention includes a hair curling device 10. The hair curling device 10 includes a base 12 and a pair of legs 14. The base 12 includes an endless inner edge forming an opening through the base 12. The pair of legs 14 extend vertically upward from the base 12 in the same direction. A gap 16 is formed in between the pair of legs 14 and the pair of legs 14 are substantially parallel relative to one another.

In certain embodiments, a horizontal axis passing through a center of the opening of the base 12 is perpendicular to the pair of legs 14. In certain embodiments, the base 12 and the pair of legs 14 may include a front surface and a rear surface. The front surfaces of the legs 14 and the base 12 may be co-planar and the rear surfaces of the legs 14 and the base 12 may be co-planar.

The hair curling device 10 may be a monolithic structure made of a metal, a hard polymer, such as plastic and the like. The base 12 of the present invention may include an inner edge and an outer edge. The inner edge and the outer edge may be circular or rounded, forming a ring or doughnut shape. The pair of legs 14 may each include a proximal end extending from the base 12 and a distal end. The distal ends of each of the pair of legs 14 may bend in a direction away from one another. The pair of legs 14 may each include a cylindrical shape, a squared cuboid shape, a triangular cuboid shape, or any a polygonal cuboid shape.

The present invention may further include a hair curling kit. The hair curling kit may include the hair curling device 10 described above. The hair curling kit may further include a clip 22. The clip 22 includes a pair of jaws pivotally attached and spring biased together. The hair curing kit may further include a hair puller 20. The hair puller 20 may include an elongated strand and a loop formed at an end of the elongated strand.

A method of curling hair may include the following. Provide the hair curling kit including the hair curling device 10, the clip 22 and the hair puller 20 described above. Place a portion of a user's hair 18 through the loop of the hair puller 20. Place the elongated strand of the hair puller 20 through the opening of the base 12 of the hair curling device 10. Pull the elongated strand and the loop with the portion of the hair 18 through the opening of the base 12. Weave the portion of the user's hair 18 around the pair of legs 14 by alternating between wrapping the user's hair 18 around each leg 14. Clip the portion of the user's hair 18 to the pair of legs using a clip 22. The clip 22 may clamp against the hair disposed in between the legs 14. The user may repeat the above steps for other portions of hair 18. The above configuration may remain attached to the user's hair 18 for a period of time. Once the period of time is complete, the user may remove the clip 22 and the hair curling device 10 from the user's hair 18 and the user's hair is curled.

It should be understood, of course, that the foregoing relates to exemplary embodiments of the invention and that modifications may be made without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention as set forth in the following claims.
