GLASS WITH INTEGRATED RESTS FOR TOBACCO PRODUCTS

- SAJ GROUP, LLC

A glass with integrated rests for tobacco products is disclosed. The glass has a base, an open top, and a closed loop sidewall. The glass has a series of integrated rests at the rim and near the open top. The integrated rests receive and securely hold a cigar or other tobacco product near the top of the glass. Optional inward projections surround each of the integrated rests. Inward projections help to avoid spilling of the beverage while tilting the glass for drinking. Inward projections act as a block to keep the beverage from pouring through the depressions that form the rests.

Description

This invention relates to a glass with integrated rests for tobacco products and more particularly to a glass with integrated rests for tobacco products which provides a resting place for a tobacco product upon the rim of the glass and optional inward projections to keep the beverage from spilling from the rests when the glass is tilted for drinking.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

Many people like to enjoy a beverage and a tobacco product as an after dinner experience, during socialization, or during many other occasions. For example, many people enjoy varieties of whiskey, brandy, and wines as an after dinner drink. Also, many people enjoy smoking cigars or other tobacco products while drinking whiskey. A problem arises when a person wants to put down the cigar or other tobacco product. There is a potential fire hazard if the person places the burning cigar or other tobacco product on a tablecloth or other flammable surface. A safe and convenient device for resting a cigar or other tobacco product while enjoying both alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages is a useful invention.

Smokers are known to place the cigar or other tobacco product on the top of the whiskey or beverage glass. However, the rounded cigar or other tobacco product is not steady and secure in this position. As such, the cigar or other tobacco product can roll off the glass and onto the surrounding surface which poses the safety hazards listed above. A device that will securely hold a resting cigar or other tobacco product in a safe position is a useful invention.

Also, many people like to dip the cigar or other tobacco product in the whiskey or other beverage to experience the taste of both simultaneously. Once dipped, the whiskey or other alcoholic beverage can cause the cigar or other tobacco product to stain any surface it rests against. A device that will provide a rest for the cigar or other tobacco product after it has been dipped in the beverage and reduce or eliminate the concern about staining the underlying surface is a useful invention.

Moreover, many people who enjoy cigars or other tobacco products prefer not to rest their tobacco product on an ashtray because of their communal nature. Also, they may move around and socialize making an ashtray impractical. The ashtray may be a distance away and inconvenient for an individual wishing to rest their cigar for a brief period. Further, multiple people may share the same ashtray and this may be unsanitary. Smoking requires placing the cigar or other tobacco product in a user's mouth and it may not be appealing to rest the cigar or other tobacco product in a communal ashtray where others have placed their smoking products. A device for resting a cigar that is personal and convenient to the individual user is a useful invention.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

An objective of the present invention is the provision of a glass with integrated rests for tobacco products that allows a user to place the cigar or other tobacco product in a series of rests on or near the top of the glass to provide a secure place to hold the cigar or other tobacco product in a safe and convenient manner, and also, to provide a resting area for the cigar or tobacco product while the user is standing and socializing.

Another objective of the present invention is the provision of a glass with integrated rests for tobacco products that allows the user to place the cigar or other tobacco product in a series of rests on or near the top of the glass to provide a resting place that will not be stained, lost, or damaged.

A further objective of the present invention is the provision of a glass with integrated rests for tobacco products that is convenient to the user.

A still further objective of the present invention is the provision of a glass with integrated rests for tobacco products that is sanitary.

These and other objectives of the invention (which other objectives become clear by consideration of the specification, claims, and drawings as a whole) are met by providing a glass with integrated rests for tobacco products which provides a resting place for a tobacco product upon the rim of the glass and optional inward projections to keep the beverage from spilling from the rests when the glass is tilted for drinking.

Throughout the figures of the drawings, where the same part appears in more than one figure of the drawings, the same number is applied thereto.

DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS

Reference will now be made in detail to several embodiments of the invention that are illustrated in the accompanying drawings. Whenever possible, the same or similar reference numerals are used in the drawings and the description to refer to the same or like parts or steps. The drawings are in simplified form and are not to precise scale. For purposes of convenience and clarity only, directional terms such as top, bottom, left, right, up, over, above, below, beneath, rear, and front, may be used with respect to the drawings. These and similar directional terms are not to be construed to limit the scope of the invention in any manner. The words attach, connect, couple and similar terms with their inflectional morphemes do not necessarily denote direct or intermediate connections, but may also include connections through mediate elements or devices.

Throughout the application reference will be made to a cigar or other tobacco product. This reference is meant to encompass all tobacco products, including but not limited to cigars, cheroots, and cigarettes. Also, reference will be made to beverages, whiskey, or alcoholic beverages. This reference is meant to encompass all beverages whether alcoholic or not. All such meanings are encompassed within this disclosure.

Now adding FIG. 1, FIG. 2, FIG. 3, FIG. 4, FIG. 5, FIG. 6, FIG. 7, and FIG. 8 to the consideration, the structure and function of the glass with integrated rests for tobacco products 100 can be clearly seen. Glass 102 has base 104 and sidewall 106 extending upwardly from base 104. Sidewall 106 is a closed loop and base 104 and sidewall 106 form a closed containment area for the beverage. Glass 102 has an open top 108. Sidewall 106 can be any shape, but is generally cylindrical or polygonal. Base 104 can be any shape, but is generally round or polygonal.

Glass 102 has a series of rests 110 which can accommodate tobacco product 140. Rests 110 secure the tobacco product 140 and prevent tobacco product 140 from rolling off glass 102. Any number of rests 110 can be used to provide a secure position to rest tobacco product 140. In FIG. 1, FIG. 2, FIG. 5, and FIG. 6, two rests 110 are depicted and preferred. But, as can be seen in FIG. 3, FIG. 4, FIG. 7, and FIG. 8, four rests 110 can be utilized. Thus, any number of rests 110 can be utilized and all such embodiments are encompassed by this disclosure.

Tobacco product 140 is placed in two rests 110 on opposing sides of glass 102. The remaining rests 110, if present, are not used. With four rests 110, the user can place tobacco product 140 in two opposing rests 110 no matter how glass 102 is positioned. In the four rests 110 embodiment, the user does not have to turn or move glass 102 so that tobacco product 140 can be aligned and placed in a pair of opposing rests 110.

Now adding FIGS. 9a and 9b to the consideration, the structure and function of glass with integrated rests for tobacco products 100 can be clearly seen. Glass 102 has optional inward projections 130 projecting inwardly from sidewall 106. Inward projections 130 project inwardly at a substantially perpendicular angle from sidewall 106. Inward projections 130 help to avoid spilling of the beverage while tilting glass 102 for drinking. Inward projections 130 act as a block to keep the beverage from pouring through the depressions that form rests 110. Inward projections 130 also help support tobacco product 140.

This application—taken as a whole with the abstract, specification, claims, and drawings—provides sufficient information for a person having ordinary skill in the art to practice the invention disclosed and claimed herein. Any measures necessary to practice this invention are well within the skill of a person having ordinary skill in this art after that person has made a careful study of this disclosure.

Because of this disclosure and solely because of this disclosure, modification of this device can become clear to a person having ordinary skill in this particular art. Such modifications are clearly covered by this disclosure.
