PORTABLE MODULAR HANGING AND PULLING SYSTEM

The present invention provides portable modular hanging and pulling system for temporary mounting in a doorway formed above a floor and along a wall, the wall having a first opposing side and a second opposing side, the doorway includes a door attached to a door frame on the first opposing side with a door hinge, and a supportive strip positioned above the doorway on the second opposing side. The portable modular hanging and pulling system includes: a first bearing member, a second bearing member, a first coupling member, a second coupling member, and a modular surface.

RELATED APPLICATIONS

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

Portable climbing hang boards and pull up bars are popular devices that allow the user to train indoors. These systems are designed to wedge within the door frame and/or lever between the front and rear of the door opening. For example, Skipper, et al. (U.S. Pat. No. 8,206,273) and Reed (U.S. Patent Application Publication No. 2013/0184124) each disclose a hang board and pull up bar apparatus that fits within a door opening. They both include a first member that is positioned on a piece of door trim positioned above an opening on the first side of a wall of a room in which the door opens into. They also both include a second member is positioned across the opening and against the second side of the wall when the first member is positioned over the door strip. Both systems are very secure because the downward gravitational hanging force of the user when exercising is translated to a lever compression force upon the frame and door opening.

However, these of types of hang boards and pull up bars can be used in only one side of a doorway, namely the side of the doorway that does not contain the door, which is typically a hallway. As such, the user is forced to exercise in the hallway and not in the privacy of their room.

Therefore, there is a need for a modular hanging and pulling system that enables a user to perform a variety of pulling and hanging exercises that is portable and can fit into both sides of a doorway, thereby allowing the user to exercise in either the room or the hallway.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

The present invention provides a modular hanging and pulling system that enables users to perform a variety of pulling and hanging exercises. The modular hanging and pulling system is portable, can fit into both sides of a doorway, and can be used on one or both sides of the door way. In contrast, none of the prior art can fit into both sides of a doorway, and can be used on one or both sides of the door way. These features greatly expand the number of available doorways in a home.

The present invention also provides portable modular hanging and pulling system for temporary mounting in a doorway formed above a floor and along a wall, the wall having a first opposing side and a second opposing side, the doorway includes a door attached to a door frame on the first opposing side with a door hinge, and a supportive strip positioned above the doorway on the second opposing side. The portable modular hanging and pulling system includes: a first bearing member, a second bearing member, a first coupling member, a second coupling member, and a modular surface.

The portable modular hanging and pulling system includes: a first bearing member having a proximal end and a distal end, wherein the first bearing member is narrower than the doorway and is configured to bear upon the supportive strip; a second bearing member having a proximal end and a distal end, wherein the second bearing member is wider than the doorway and includes a first planar member at the proximal end and a second planar member at the distal end, wherein the first planar member and the second planar member are each independently configured to rest on the door hinge in between the door and the first opposing side when the door is in an open position; a first coupling member having a proximal end and distal end, wherein the first coupling member is coupled to the first bearing member at the proximal end and to the second bearing member between the proximal end and the distal end; a second coupling member having a proximal end and distal end, wherein the second coupling member is coupled to the first bearing member at the distal end and to the second bearing member between the proximal end and the distal end; a modular surface having a first surface and a second surface, wherein the first surface of the modular surface is coupled to the distal end of the first coupling member and to the distal end of the second coupling member, wherein the modular surface includes one or more coupling recesses extending between the first surface and the second surface; and one or more modular members coupled to the second surface of the modular surface via at least one releasable coupler extending through both the one or more modular members and the one or more coupling recesses.

In one embodiment, the modular surface is oriented perpendicular to the floor. In one embodiment, the modular surface is oriented non-perpendicular to the floor. In one embodiment, the one or more modular members each independently include one or more hang boards, one or more climbing holds, or a combination thereof. DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

The present invention provides a modular hanging and pulling system that enables users to perform a variety of pulling and hanging exercises. The modular hanging and pulling system is portable, can fit into both sides of a doorway, and can be used on one or both sides of the door way. In contrast, none of the prior art can fit into both sides of a doorway, and can be used on one or both sides of the door way. These features greatly expand the number of available doorways in a home.

The present invention also provides portable modular hanging and pulling system for temporary mounting in a doorway formed above a floor and along a wall, the wall having a first opposing side and a second opposing side, the doorway includes a door attached to a door frame on the first opposing side with a door hinge, and a supportive strip positioned above the doorway on the second opposing side. The portable modular hanging and pulling system includes: a first bearing member, a second bearing member, a first coupling member, a second coupling member, and a modular surface.

The invention illustratively disclosed herein suitably may be practiced in the absence of any element which is not specifically disclosed herein.

FIGS. 1-5 are various drawings illustrating an exemplary portable modular hanging and pulling system 100 for temporary mounting in a doorway 101. The doorway is formed above a floor and along a wall 102. The wall 102 includes a first opposing side 103 and a second opposing side 104. The doorway 101 includes a door (not shown) attached to a door frame 105 on the first opposing side 103 with a door hinge (not shown), and a supportive strip (not shown) positioned above the doorway 101 on the second opposing side 104.

The portable modular hanging and pulling system 100 includes: a first bearing member 106, a second hearing member 107, a first coupling member 108, a second coupling member 109, and a modular surface 110. The first bearing member 106 is narrower than the doorway 101 and is configured to bear upon the supportive strip (not shown) above the door frame. The second bearing member 107 is wider than the doorway 101 and includes a first planar member 111 at the proximal end and a second planar member 112 at the distal end. The first planar member 111 and the second planar member 112 are each independently configured to rest on the door hinge (not shown) in between the door (not shown) and the first opposing side 103 when the door (not shown) is in an open position. The first coupling member 108 is coupled to the first bearing member 106 at the proximal end and to the second bearing member 107 between the proximal end and the distal end. The second coupling member 109 is coupled to the first bearing member 106 at the distal end and to the second bearing member 107 between the proximal end and the distal end. The modular surface 110 has a first surface and a second surface. The first surface of the modular surface 110 is coupled to the distal end of the first coupling member 108 and to the distal end of the second coupling member 109. The modular surface 110 comprises one or more coupling recesses 113 extending between the first surface and the second surface. One or more modular members 114 are coupled to the second surface of the modular surface 110 via at least one releasable coupler 115 extending through both the one or more modular members 114 and the one or more coupling recesses 113.

In one embodiment, the modular surface 110 is oriented perpendicular to the floor (not shown). In one embodiment, the modular surface 110 is oriented non-perpendicular to the floor (not shown). In one embodiment, the one or more modular members 114 each independently comprise one or more hang boards, one or more climbing holds, or a combination thereof.

In FIG. 5, the user is gripping the modular member so as to hang and pull herself up toward the portable modular hanging and pulling system 100.

FIGS. 6-8 are various drawings illustrating an exemplary portable modular hanging and pulling system 200 for temporary mounting in a doorway. The doorway is formed above a floor and along a wall. The wall includes a first opposing side and a second opposing side. The doorway includes a door attached to a door frame on the first opposing side with a door hinge, and a supportive strip positioned above the doorway on the second opposing side.

The portable modular hanging and pulling system 200 includes; a first bearing member 201, a modular surface 202, a first coupling member 203, a second coupling member 204, a second bearing member 205, and a modular member 206. The first bearing member 201 has a proximal end and a distal end and is narrower than the doorway and is configured to bear upon the supportive strip. The modular surface 202 has a first surface and a second surface and includes one or more coupling recesses 207 extending between the first surface and the second surface. The modular surface 202 is oriented perpendicular to the floor. The first coupling member 203 has a proximal end and distal end and is coupled to the first bearing member 201 at the proximal end and to a first surface of the modular surface 202. The second coupling member 204 has a proximal end and distal end and is coupled to the first bearing member 201 at the distal end and to a first surface of the modular surface 202. The second bearing member 205 is coupled to the first surface of the modular surface 202. The second bearing member 205 is wider than the doorway and includes a first planar member 208 configured to rest on the door hinge in between the door and the first opposing side, when the door is in an open position. The one or more modular members 209 are coupled to the second surface of the modular surface 202 via at least one releasable coupler 210 extending through both the modular member 209 and the one or more coupling recesses 207.

In one embodiment, the first coupling member 203 is a two-piece threaded coupling member. In one embodiment, the second coupling member 204 is a two-piece threaded coupling member. In one embodiment, the one or more modular members 209 each independently comprise one or more hang boards, one or more climbing holds, or a combination thereof.

FIGS. 9-11 are various drawings illustrating an exemplary portable modular hanging and pulling system 300 for temporary mounting in a doorway. The doorway is formed above a floor and along a wall. The wall includes a first opposing side and a second opposing side. The doorway includes a door attached to a door frame on the first opposing side with a door hinge, and a supportive strip positioned above the doorway on the second opposing side.

The portable modular hanging and pulling system 300 includes: a first bearing member 301, a modular surface 302, a first coupling member 303, a second coupling member 304, a second bearing member 305, a third bearing member 306, and one or more modular members 307. The first bearing member 301 has a proximal end and a distal end, is narrower than the doorway and is configured to bear upon the supportive strip. The modular surface 302 has a first surface and a second surface and includes one or more coupling recesses 308 extending between the first surface and the second surface. The first coupling member 303 has a proximal end and distal end and is coupled to the first bearing member 301 at the proximal end and to a first surface of the modular surface 302. The second coupling member 304 has a proximal end and distal end and is coupled to the first bearing member 301 at the distal end and to a first surface of the modular surface 302. The second bearing member 305 is coupled between the proximal end and distal end of the first coupling member 303. The third bearing member 306 is coupled between the proximal end and distal end of the second coupling member 304. The second bearing member 305 and the third bearing member 306 are wider than the doorway and are each independently configured to rest on the door hinge in between the door and the first opposing side when the door is in an open position. The one or more modular members 307 are coupled to the second surface of the modular surface 302 via at least one releasable coupler 309 extending through both the one or more modular members 307 and the one or more coupling recesses 308.

In one embodiment, the second bearing member 305 is planer. In one embodiment, the third bearing member 306 is planer. In one embodiment, the modular surface 302 is oriented perpendicular to the floor. In one embodiment, the modular surface 302 is oriented non-perpendicular to the floor. In one embodiment, the one or more modular members 307 each independently comprise one or more hang boards, one or more climbing holds, or a combination thereof.

FIGS. 12-14 are various drawings illustrating an exemplary portable modular hanging and pulling system 400 for temporary mounting in a doorway. The doorway is formed above a floor and along a wall. The wall includes a first opposing side and a second opposing side. The doorway includes a door attached to a door frame on the first opposing side with a door hinge, and a supportive strip positioned above the doorway on the second opposing side.

The portable modular hanging and pulling system 400 includes: a first bearing member 401, a modular surface 402, a first coupling member 403, a second coupling member 404, a second bearing member 405, a first planar member 406, and one or more modular members 407. The first bearing member 401 has a proximal end and a distal end and is configured to extend beyond each side of the doorway and to bear upon the supportive strip on the second opposing side. The modular surface 402 has a first surface and a second surface and includes one or more coupling recesses 408 extending between the first surface and the second surface. The modular surface 402 is oriented perpendicular to the floor. The first coupling member 403 has a proximal end and distal end and is coupled to the first bearing member 401 at the proximal end and to a first surface of the modular surface 402. The second coupling member 404 has a proximal end and distal end and is coupled to the first bearing member 401 at the distal end and to a first surface of the modular surface 402. The second bearing member 405 is coupled to the first surface of the modular surface 402 and is wider than the doorway. The second bearing member 405 includes one or more first planar members 406 each independently configured to rest on the door hinge in between the door and the first opposing side when the door is in an open position. The one or more modular members 407 are coupled to the second surface of the modular surface 402 via at least one releasable coupler 409 extending through both the one or more modular members 407 and the one or more coupling recesses 408.

In one embodiment, the first coupling member 403 is a two-piece threaded coupling member. In one embodiment, the second coupling member 404 is a two-piece threaded coupling member. In one embodiment, the one or more modular members 407 each independently comprise one or more hang boards, one or more climbing holds, or a combination thereof.

In the claims provided herein, the steps specified to be taken in a claimed method or process may be carried out in any order without departing from the principles of the invention, except when a temporal or operational sequence is explicitly defined by claim language. Recitation in a claim to the effect that first a step is performed then several other steps are performed shall be taken to mean that the first step is performed before any of the other steps, but the other steps may be performed in any sequence unless a sequence is further specified within the other steps. For example, claim elements that recite “first A, then B, C, and D, and lastly E” shall be construed to mean step A must be first, step E must be last, but steps B, C, and D may be carried out in any sequence between steps A and E and the process of that sequence will still fall within the four corners of the claim.

Furthermore, in the claims provided herein, specified steps may be carried out concurrently unless explicit claim language requires that they be carried out separately or as parts of different processing operations. For example, a claimed step of doing X and a claimed step of doing Y may be conducted simultaneously within a single operation, and the resulting process will be covered by the claim. Thus, a step of doing X, a step of doing Y, and a step of doing Z may be conducted simultaneously within a single process step, or in two separate process steps, or in three separate process steps, and that process will still fall within the four corners of a claim that recites those three steps.

Similarly, except as explicitly required by claim language, a single substance or component may meet more than a single functional requirement, provided that the single substance or component fulfills the more than one functional requirement as specified by claim language.

Claims

1. A portable modular hanging and pulling system for temporary mounting in a doorway formed above a floor and along a wall, the wall having a first opposing side and a second opposing side, the doorway includes a door attached to a door frame on the first opposing side with a door hinge, and a supportive strip positioned above the doorway on the second opposing side, the portable modular hanging and pulling system comprising:

a first bearing member having a proximal end and a distal end, wherein the first bearing member is narrower than the doorway and is configured to bear upon the supportive strip;
a second bearing member having a proximal end and a distal end, wherein the second bearing member is wider than the doorway and comprises a first planar member at the proximal end and a second planar member at the distal end, wherein the first planar member and the second planar member are each independently configured to rest on the door hinge in between the door and the first opposing side when the door is in an open position;
a first coupling member having a proximal end and distal end, wherein the first coupling member is coupled to the first bearing member at the proximal end and to the second bearing member between the proximal end and the distal end;
a second coupling member having a proximal end and distal end, wherein the second coupling member is coupled to the first bearing member at the distal end and to the second bearing member between the proximal end and the distal end;
a modular surface having a first surface and a second surface, wherein the first surface of the modular surface is coupled to the distal end of the first coupling member and to the distal end of the second coupling member, wherein the modular surface comprises one or more coupling recesses extending between the first surface and the second surface; and
one or more modular members coupled to the second surface of the modular surface via at least one releasable coupler extending through both the one or more modular members and the one or more coupling recesses.

2. The portable modular hanging and pulling system of claim 1, wherein the modular surface is oriented perpendicular to the floor.

3. The portable modular hanging and pulling system of claim 1, wherein the modular surface is oriented non-perpendicular to the floor.

4. The portable modular hanging and pulling system of claim 1, wherein the one or more modular members each independently comprise one or more hang boards, one or more climbing holds, or a combination thereof.

5. The portable modular hanging and pulling system of claim 4, wherein the one or more modular members each independently comprise one or more hang boards.

6. The portable modular hanging and pulling system of claim 4, wherein the one or more modular members each independently comprise one or more climbing holds.

7. The portable modular hanging and pulling system of claim 4, wherein the one or more modular members each independently comprise one or more hang boards and one or more climbing holds.

8. A portable modular hanging and pulling system for temporary mounting in a doorway formed above a floor and along a wall, the wall having a first opposing side and a second opposing side, the doorway includes a door attached to a door frame on the first opposing side with a door hinge, and a supportive strip positioned above the doorway on the second opposing side, the portable modular hanging and pulling system comprising:

a first bearing member having a proximal end and a distal end, wherein the first bearing member is narrower than the doorway and is configured to bear upon the supportive strip;
a second bearing member having a proximal end and a distal end, wherein the second bearing member is wider than the doorway and comprises a first planar member at the proximal end and a second planar member at the distal end, wherein the first planar member and the second planar member are each independently configured to rest on the door hinge in between the door and the first opposing side when the door is in an open position;
a first coupling member having a proximal end and distal end, wherein the first coupling member is directly coupled to the first bearing member at the proximal end and to the second bearing member between the proximal end and the distal end;
a second coupling member having a proximal end and distal end, wherein the second coupling member is directly coupled to the first bearing member at the distal end and to the second bearing member between the proximal end and the distal end;
a modular surface having a first surface and a second surface, wherein the first surface of the modular surface is directly coupled to the distal end of the first coupling member and to the distal end of the second coupling member, wherein the modular surface comprises one or more coupling recesses extending between the first surface and the second surface; and
one or more modular members directly coupled to the second surface of the modular surface via at least one releasable coupler extending through both the one or more modular members and the one or more coupling recesses.

9. The portable modular hanging and pulling system of claim 8, wherein the modular surface is oriented perpendicular to the floor.

10. The portable modular hanging and pulling system of claim 8, wherein the modular surface is oriented non-perpendicular to the floor.

11. The portable modular hanging and pulling system of claim 8, wherein the one or more modular members each independently comprise one or more hang boards, one or more climbing holds, or a combination thereof.

12. The portable modular hanging and pulling system of claim 11, wherein the one or more modular members each independently comprise one or more hang boards.

13. The portable modular hanging and pulling system of claim 11, wherein the one or more modular members each independently comprise one or more climbing holds.

14. The portable modular hanging and pulling system of claim 11, wherein the one or more modular members each independently comprise one or more hang boards and one or more climbing holds.

15. A portable modular hanging and pulling system for temporary mounting in a doorway formed above a floor and along a wall, the wall having a first opposing side and a second opposing side, the doorway includes a door attached to a door frame on the first opposing side with a door hinge, and a supportive strip positioned above the doorway on the second opposing side, the portable modular hanging and pulling system comprising:

a first bearing member having a proximal end and a distal end, wherein the first bearing member is narrower than the doorway and is configured to bear upon the supportive strip;
a second bearing member having a proximal end and a distal end, wherein the second bearing member is wider than the doorway and comprises a first planar member at the proximal end and a second planar member at the distal end, wherein the first planar member and the second planar member are each independently configured to rest on the door hinge in between the door and the first opposing side when the door is in an open position;
a first coupling member having a proximal end and distal end, wherein the first coupling member is directly coupled to the first bearing member at the proximal end and to the second bearing member between the proximal end and the distal end;
a second coupling member having a proximal end and distal end, wherein the second coupling member is directly coupled to the first bearing member at the distal end and to the second bearing member between the proximal end and the distal end;
a modular surface having a first surface and a second surface, wherein the first surface of the modular surface is directly coupled to the distal end of the first coupling member and to the distal end of the second coupling member, wherein the modular surface comprises one or more coupling recesses extending between the first surface and the second surface, wherein the modular surface is oriented non-perpendicular to the floor; and
one or more modular members directly coupled to the second surface of the modular surface via at least one releasable coupler extending through both the one or more modular members and the one or more coupling recesses, and wherein the one or more modular members each independently comprise one or more hang boards, one or more climbing holds, or a combination thereof.
