GOLF CLUB HOLDING DEVICE

Abstract

A golf club holding device includes an elongated main body portion including a proximal end and a distal end; a first loop member; a golf club; and a second loop member. The first loop member is adapted to be releasably fit upon a handle portion of a golf club. The second loop member is adapted to be releasably fit upon a handle portion of a golf club in proximity to said first loop member. The golf club holding device is adapted to be releasably fit upon the handle portion of the golf club, wrapped around a hand of the person holding the golf club to thereby releasably secure the person's hand to the golf club during use. A combination of a golf club and a golf club holding device and also a golfing kit are disclosed.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

The following includes information that may be useful in understanding the present invention(s). It is not an admission that any of the information provided herein is prior art, or material, to the presently described or claimed inventions, or that any publication or document that is specifically or implicitly referenced is prior art.

1. Field of the Invention

The present invention relates generally to the field of holding devices and more specifically relates to a golf club holding device structured and arranged to secure a golf club in a hand of a user thereby preventing the club from flying out while taking a powerful swing.

2. Description of the Related Art

Golf is, without a doubt, one of the most popular recreational and competitive sports in the world, and possesses a rich history. Roman emperors apparently played a relaxing game called paganica, using a bent stick to drive a soft, feather-stuffed ball. Over the next five centuries the game developed on several continents and eventually evolved into the popular Scottish game known as golfe. Various European countries had games resembling paganica: cambuca in England, jeu de mail in France, and het kolven in the Netherlands, which was also played in the American colonies as early as 1657. The Scottish game, however, is the direct ancestor of the modern game. Today, in the United States alone, more than 23 million people play golf, including over 11,000 professional players. A relaxing game of strategy and skill, this outdoor sport has become a favored pastime of men, women, and even children.

As many golfers would readily attest, little is more frustrating than taking a powerful swing . . . and watching the club go sailing off across the green. Not only does this ruin the shot, but it also takes precious time away from play when one has to retrieve his golf club after each swing.

Various attempts have been made to solve problems found in golf club holding devices art. Among these are found in: U.S. Pat. No. 7,326,134 to Vito Collucci; U.S. Pat. No. 2,496,808 to Edmund B Moore; and U.S. Pat. No. 2,780,464 to Mervin F Ashley. This prior art is representative of golf club holding devices.

Ideally, a golf club holding device should be user-friendly and safe in-use and, yet should operate reliably and be manufactured at a modest expense. Thus, a need exists for a golf club holding device structured and arranged to be releasably fit upon a handle portion of the golf club, wrapped around a hand of the person holding the golf club, and releasably fit upon the thumb of the person holding the golf club and reside in between their thumb and their index finger, to thereby releasably secure the person's hand to said golf club during use and to avoid the above-mentioned problems.

BRIEF SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

In view of the foregoing disadvantages inherent in the known holding device art, the present invention provides a golf club holding device. The general purpose of the present invention, which will be described subsequently in greater detail is to provide a golf club holding device structured and arranged to be releasably fit upon a handle portion of the golf club, wrapped around a hand of the person holding the golf club, and releasably fit upon the thumb of the person holding the golf club and reside in between their thumb and their index finger, to thereby releasably secure the person's hand to the golf club during use

A golf club holding device comprising: an elongated main body portion including a proximal end and a distal end; a first loop member; a golf club; and a second loop member. The main body portion is flexible and stretchable. The first loop member is attached to the proximal end of the main body and is adapted to be releasably fit upon a handle portion of a golf club. The second loop member is attached to the proximal end of the main body and is adapted to be releasably fit upon a handle portion of a golf club in proximity to said first loop member. The golf club holding device is adapted to be releasably fit upon the handle portion of the golf club, wrapped around a hand of the person holding the golf club to thereby releasably secure the person's hand to the golf club during use.

A combination of a golf club and a golf club holding device comprising: a golf club and a golf club holding device. The elongated shaft portion including a proximal end and a distal end; a club head; and a handle portion. The club head is attached to the distal end of the shaft portion. The handle portion is attached to the proximal end of the shaft portion.

A golfing kit is also disclosed herein comprising: a golf club and three golf club holding devices. A first of the three golf club holding devices is formed having a length of six inches. A second of the three golf club holding devices is formed having a length of eight inches. Lastly, a third of the three golf club holding devices is formed having a length of nine inches.

The present invention holds significant improvements and serves as a Golf Club Holding Device. For purposes of summarizing the invention, certain aspects, advantages, and novel features of the invention have been described herein. It is to be understood that not necessarily all such advantages may be achieved in accordance with any one particular embodiment of the invention. Thus, the invention may be embodied or carried out in a manner that achieves or optimizes one advantage or group of advantages as taught herein without necessarily achieving other advantages as may be taught or suggested herein. The features of the invention which are believed to be novel are particularly pointed out and distinctly claimed in the concluding portion of the specification. These and other features, aspects, and advantages of the present invention will become better understood with reference to the following drawings and detailed description.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION

As discussed above, embodiments of the present invention relate to holding device and more specifically relates to a golf club holding device. The general purpose of the present invention, which will be described subsequently in greater detail is to provide a golf club holding device structured and arranged to be releasably fit upon a handle portion of the golf club, wrapped around a hand of the person holding the golf club, and releasably fit upon the thumb of the person holding the golf club and reside in between their thumb and their index finger, to thereby releasably secure the person's hand to said golf club during use

Generally speaking, the Golf Club Holding Device comprises a specially designed device that secures the club to the hand. Although exact dimensions and materials have yet to be disclosed, The Golf Club Holding Device would essentially be a lightweight, flat, pliable unit offered in strap form. Both the proximal and distal ends of the unit would boast a durable loop, which would serve as The Golf Club Holding Device's means of security. As such, one would simply wrap one end over the top of the golf club, passing it over the hand and fitting the loop between the thumb and index finger. The opposite end of The Golf Club Holding Device would also be wrapped over the end of the club, giving the user a firm, secure grip. The Golf Club Holding Device would be offered in six inch (6″), eight inch (8″), and nine inch (9″) versions, and the strap on all versions would be three quarters of an inch (¾″) wide, and three sixteenths of an inch ( 3/16″) thick.

The Golf Club Holding Device would offer golfers a handy means of alleviating the quite common problem encountered when taking a healthy swing at a golf ball. As such, this unique tool would eliminate the frustration associated with clubs flying out of the hands. In this manner, golfers would be able to concentrate fully on their game. Golfers would also enjoy better usability and spin control for all shots, along with the optimum potential for longer, straighter shots and lower scores. Golf courses and driving ranges should also benefit from implementation of such a system, as The Golf Club Holding Device would encourage more play by those who may feel physically limited, or who get overly frustrated when a golf club flies free from their hands.

As a result, these establishments could enjoy increased revenues, as well as positive word-of-mouth advertising from thankful golfers. Compact and lightweight, The Golf Club Holding Device could be easily carried and stored in a golf bag, readily accessible whenever needed Enhancing the golfing experience, this creative product could eliminate the retrieval burdens often encountered in golf, allowing users to bask in this leisurely sport.

Referring now to FIG. 1, shows a perspective view golf club holding device 100 according to an embodiment of the present invention of FIG. 1.

Golf club holding device 100 is disclosed herein in a preferred embodiment comprising: elongated main body portion 110 including proximal end 120 and distal end 130; first loop member 140; golf club 210; and second loop member 160. Main body portion 110 is flexible and stretchable. Elongated main body portion 110 is formed as a flat strap member. The flat strap member is formed having dimensions including three quarters of an inch wide and three sixteenths of an inch thick. The flat strap member is formed from a flexible and stretchable material chosen from a list of flexible and stretchable materials consisting of rubber, plastic, nylon, woven fabric, cotton, and polyester.

First loop member 140 is attached to proximal end 120 of main body 110 and is adapted to be releasably fit upon handle portion 220 of golf club 200 as shown in in-use condition 250 of FIG. 2. First loop member 140 and second loop member 160 are formed from a rigid material chosen from a list of rigid materials consisting of rubber, plastic, aluminum, steel, and fiberglass.

Referring now to FIG. 2, shows a perspective view illustrating a combination 200 of golf club 210 and golf club holding device 100 according to an embodiment of the present invention of FIG. 1.

Combination 200 of golf club 210 and golf club holding device 100 comprises: golf club 210 and golf club holding device 100. Elongated shaft portion 230 including proximal end 234 and distal end 238; club head 240; and handle portion 210. Club head 240 is attached to distal end 238 of shaft portion 230. Handle portion 210 is attached to proximal end 234 of shaft portion 230.

Second loop member 160 is attached to proximal end 120 of main body 110 and is adapted to be releasably fit upon a handle portion of a golf club in proximity to said first loop member as shown in FIG. 2. Golf club holding device 100 is adapted to be releasably fit upon handle portion 220 of golf club 210, wrapped around hand 262 of person 260 holding golf club 210, and releasably fit upon thumb 264 of person 260 holding golf club 210 and to thereby releasably secure hand 262 of person 260 to the golf club 210 during use during in-use condition 250 as shown in FIG. 2.

Golf club holding device 100 is formed having a length chosen from a list of lengths consisting of six inches, eight inches, and nine inches as shown in FIG. 3.

Referring now to FIG. 3, shows a perspective view illustrating a golfing kit 300 of golf club holding device 100 according to an embodiment of the present invention of FIG. 1.

Golfing kit 300 is also disclosed herein comprising: golf club 210 and three golf club holding devices 100. First of the three golf club holding devices 310 is formed having a length of six inches. Second of the three golf club holding devices 320 is formed having a length of eight inches. Lastly, third of the three golf club holding devices 330 is formed having a length of nine inches.

The embodiments of the invention described herein are exemplary and numerous modifications, variations and rearrangements can be readily envisioned to achieve substantially equivalent results, all of which are intended to be embraced within the spirit and scope of the invention. Further, the purpose of the foregoing abstract is to enable the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office and the public generally, and especially the scientist, engineers and practitioners in the art who are not familiar with patent or legal terms or phraseology, to determine quickly from a cursory inspection the nature and essence of the technical disclosure of the application.

Claims

1. A golf club holding device comprising:

an elongated main body portion including: a proximal end; and a distal end; wherein said main body portion is flexible and stretchable;

a first loop member; wherein said first loop member is attached to said proximal end of said main body and is adapted to be releasably fit upon a handle portion of a golf club;

a second loop member; wherein said second loop member is attached to said proximal end of said main body and is adapted to be releasably fit upon a handle portion of a golf club in proximity to said first loop member;

wherein said golf club holding device is adapted to be releasably fit upon said handle portion of said golf club, wrapped around a hand of said person holding said golf club to thereby releasably secure said person's hand to said golf club during use.

2. The golf club holding device of claim 1, wherein said elongated main body portion is formed as a flat strap member.

3. The golf club holding device of claim 2, wherein said flat strap member is formed having dimensions including three quarters of an inch wide and three sixteenths of an inch thick.

4. The golf club holding device of claim 2, wherein said flat strap member is formed from a flexible and stretchable material chosen from a list of flexible and stretchable materials consisting of rubber, plastic, nylon, woven fabric, cotton, and polyester.

5. The golf club holding device of claim 1, wherein said first loop member and said second loop member are formed from a rigid material chosen from a list of rigid materials consisting of rubber, plastic, aluminum, steel, and fiberglass.

6. The golf club holding device of claim 1, wherein said golf club holding device is formed having a length chosen from a list of lengths consisting of six inches, eight inches, and nine inches.

7. A combination of a golf club and a golf club holding device comprising:

a golf club including: an elongated shaft portion including; a proximal end; and a distal end; a club head; wherein said club head is attached to said distal end of said shaft portion; and a handle portion; wherein said handle portion is attached to said proximal end of said shaft portion; and

a golf club holding device comprising: an elongated main body portion including: a proximal end; and a distal end; wherein said main body portion is flexible and stretchable; a first loop member; wherein said first loop member is attached to said proximal end of said main body and is adapted to be releasably fit upon said handle portion of said golf club; a second loop member; wherein said second loop member is attached to said proximal end of said main body and is adapted to be releasably fit upon a handle portion of a golf club in proximity to said first loop member; wherein said golf club holding device is adapted to be releasably fit upon said handle portion of said golf club, wrapped around a hand of said person holding said golf club to thereby releasably secure said person's hand to said golf club during use.

8. The combination of claim 7, wherein said elongated main body portion is formed as a flat strap member.

9. The combination of claim 8, wherein said flat strap member is formed having dimensions including three quarters of an inch wide and three sixteenths of an inch thick.

10. The combination of claim 8, wherein said flat strap member is formed from a flexible and stretchable material chosen from a list of flexible and stretchable materials consisting of rubber, plastic, nylon, woven fabric, cotton, and polyester.

11. The combination of claim 7, wherein said first loop member and said second loop member are formed from a rigid material chosen from a list of rigid materials consisting of rubber, plastic, aluminum, steel, and fiberglass.

12. The combination of claim 7, wherein said golf club holding device is formed having a length chosen from a list of lengths consisting of six inches, eight inches, and nine inches.

13. A golfing kit comprising:

a golf club including: an elongated shaft portion including; a proximal end; and a distal end; a club head; wherein said club head is attached to said distal end of said shaft portion; and a handle portion; wherein said handle portion is attached to said proximal end of said shaft portion; and

three golf club holding devices, each comprising: an elongated main body portion including: a proximal end; and a distal end; wherein said main body portion is flexible and stretchable; a first loop member; wherein said first loop member is attached to said proximal end of said main body and is adapted to be releasably fit upon said handle portion of said golf club; a second loop member; wherein said second loop member is attached to said proximal end of said main body and is adapted to be releasably fit upon a handle portion of a golf club in proximity to said first loop member; wherein a first of said three golf club holding devices is formed having a length of six inches; wherein a second of said three golf club holding devices is formed having a length of eight inches; and wherein a third of said three golf club holding devices is formed having a length of nine inches;

wherein each of said three golf club holding devices are adapted to be releasably fit upon said handle portion of said golf club, wrapped around a hand of said person holding said golf club to thereby releasably secure said person's hand to said golf club during use.

14. The kit of claim 13, wherein said elongated main body portion is formed as a flat strap member.

15. The kit of claim 14, wherein said flat strap member is formed having dimensions including three quarters of an inch wide and three sixteenths of an inch thick.

16. The kit of claim 14, wherein said flat strap member is formed from a flexible and stretchable material chosen from a list of flexible and stretchable materials consisting of rubber, plastic, nylon, woven fabric, cotton, and polyester.

17. The kit of claim 13, wherein said first loop member and said second loop member are formed from a rigid material chosen from a list of rigid materials consisting of rubber, plastic, aluminum, steel, and fiberglass.

18. The kit of claim 13, wherein:

said first of said three golf club holding devices is formed having a purple color to signify a length of six inches;

said second of said three golf club holding devices is formed having a blue color to signify a length of eight inches; and

said third of said three golf club holding devices is formed having a black color to signify a length of nine inches.
