Description
CROSS REFERENCE TO RELATED APPLICATION

The present application is related to and claims priority to U.S. Provisional Patent Application No. 62/481,641 filed Apr. 4, 2017, which is incorporated by reference herein in its entirety.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

The following includes information that may be useful in understanding the present disclosure. It is not an admission that any of the information provided herein is prior art nor material to the presently described or claimed inventions, nor that any publication or document that is specifically or implicitly referenced is prior art.

1. FIELD OF THE INVENTION

The present invention relates generally to the field of garments and more specifically relates to gloves and sleeves.

2. DESCRIPTION OF RELATED ART

Many people wear gloves/mittens during winter. Gloves cover the entire hand with and have spots for each finger as well as the thumb. Mittens cover the entire hand, but typically only have a spot for the thumb. The fingers are covered in a central opening. Gloves/mittens protect and comfort hands against cold or heat, damage by friction, abrasion or chemicals. When outdoors during the winter, snow can get in between a jacket sleeve and on individual's skin. Snow penetrating through a jacket and gloves can be exceptionally cold, wet, and frustrating. Children may only be able to spend a short amount of time outdoors if he/she gets snow inside their jacket. While gloves and mittens keep the hands warm, if the garments under the coat and/or the skins on the wrist area get wet, extreme cold can deter people from spending additional time skiing, snowboarding, hiking, and more. An effective alternative is needed.

U.S. Pat. No. 4,856,112 to Michael D. Effle relates to a powder cuff. The described powder cuff includes a protective clothing for preventing snow from penetrating between the glove and coat sleeve being worn on the hand and arm of an individual. The protective clothing can readily be placed on and removed from the arm of an individual by using the gloved hand of the other arm of the individual.

BRIEF SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

In view of the foregoing disadvantages inherent in the known garments art, the present disclosure provides a novel glove and sleeve system. The general purpose of the present disclosure, which will be described subsequently in greater detail, is to provide an insulated glove/mitten and sleeve capable of being modularly attached together, keeping the wrist area dry and warm when out in the snow.

A glove and sleeve system is disclosed herein. The glove and sleeve system includes a garment assembly having a pair of hand coverings, a pair of sleeves, and a plurality of fasteners (fastening means). The pair of hand coverings, the pair of sleeves, and the plurality of fasteners are configured to be selectively used in modular combination to provide protection and coverage. One of the pair of hand coverings are configured to be worn on each respective hand of a user-wearer and one of the pair of sleeves are configured to be worn on a forearm portion of each respective arm of the user-wearer. The plurality of fasteners are positioned along a top-end of each one of the pair of hand coverings and a mating bottom-end of each one of the pair of sleeves. The pair of hand coverings and the pair of sleeves are configured to be removeably attached via the plurality of fasteners to effectively create a single continuous member for insulated full coverage of the hands, wrists, and the arms of the user-wearer when worn.

For purposes of summarizing the invention, certain aspects, advantages, and novel features of the invention have been described herein. It is to be understood that not necessarily all such advantages may be achieved in accordance with any one particular embodiment of the invention. Thus, the invention may be embodied or carried out in a manner that achieves or optimizes one advantage or group of advantages as taught herein without necessarily achieving other advantages as may be taught or suggested herein. The features of the invention which are believed to be novel are particularly pointed out and distinctly claimed in the concluding portion of the specification. DETAILED DESCRIPTION

As discussed above, embodiments of the present disclosure relate to garments and more particularly to a glove and sleeve system as used to improve functional protection from elements such as cold and heat.

Generally, the present invention provides wearers with a glove or mitten capable of being attached to a sleeve garment, effectively eliminating the worry of snow penetrating a jacket. It includes touch-screen grips on the end of the glove which allow wearers to utilize their phone outdoors for texting, email, and/or emergencies. It preferably features hook and loop fasteners on the glove and sleeve (or other suitable fastening means), connecting the two together in order to form the complete garment for added snow protection. This enables skiers, snowboarders, hikers, and other outdoor enthusiasts to enjoy cold/snowy weather with warmth ensured. The present invention utilizes a pull string around the wrist area to tighten the glove system. Other tightening means may be used.

Glove and sleeve system is an insulated glove/mitten and sleeve capable of being attached together, keeping the wrist area dry and warm when out in the snow. The garments are comprised of waterproof material and feature hook and loop fasteners and/or alternately magnets on the top end of the glove and the bottom end of the sleeve. Both the gloves/mittens can be worn without the sleeve when not in the snow. Users can then add the sleeve for snow/wet protection when he/she needs it. Individuals can pull on the sleeve and glove, and then use a pull string on the glove to keep it secured at the wrist. The top of the sleeve is elasticized around the elbow area to maintain its position, even while moving out in the snow. The tip of the fingers on the glove feature a touch-screen pad which allows wearers to still utilize their smartphones and other electronics while outdoors. Once the glove and sleeve are attached, the user then puts it on over his/her sweater with the outer jacket going on last, creating full protection from weather elements. Glove and sleeve system can be constructed using insulated, waterproof materials. The garments may be available in numerous sizes capable of fitting both adults and children.
