Battery Powered Hair Dryer
A cordless, rechargeable battery powered hair dryer having the handle of the hair dryer foldable against the body of the hair dryer for efficient storage, and air filter, battery charger and power cord.
This patent application claims priority under 35 USC 119 (e) (1) from U.S. Provisional Patent Application Ser. No. 62/484,905 filed Apr. 13, 2017, of common inventorship and title herewith which is incorporated herein by reference as though the same were set forth in its entirety.
FIELD OF THE INVENTIONThe present invention pertains to the field of battery powered hair dryers, and more specifically to the field of battery powered hair dryers providing a cordless, rechargeable, battery powered, personal hair dryer eliminating the need for an electrical cord.
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTIONIndividuals usually engage in daily grooming habits. Most individuals regularly wash their hair and have a subsequent need to dry their hair afterwards. Professional stylists also regularly use a hair dryer to dry the hair or assist in styling the hair after it has been cut.
Conventional hair dryers have shown to have some limitations. Particularly, conventional hair dryers are powered by a standard 120 volt or 220 volt supply. The hair dryer is connected to the power supply with a cord. This creates limitations as to where the conventional hair dryer can be used. If there is no access to an electrical outlet, a conventional hair dryer can not be utilized. As a result, traditional hair dryers lack portability.
Another issue regarding the power supply of traditional hair dryers is safety. Numerous accidents occur each year as users of traditional hair dryers injure themselves when their hair dryer contacts water. As hair dryers typically operate on 1000 watts of power or more, this represents a serious safety hazard to users.
Conventional hair dryers also lack portability. Many individuals engage in camping or visiting the beach where it is desirable to dry one's hair after swimming. Without a standard 120-volt electrical outlet, traditional hair dryers cannot be utilized at campgrounds or the beach.
Accordingly, there is a need for a device that is capable of generating and moving warmer than ambient temperature air that is powered by a renewable power source. Furthermore, this power source should be integrated into the device.
The prior art has put forth several designs for a battery powered hair dryer. Among these are:
U.S. Pat. No. 8,146,264 to Robert Stefano et al provides a cordless hair dryer device comprising an ergonomically shaped handle, air cone, rechargeable lithium-type battery pack that releasably attaches to a battery mount on the back of the hair dryer, temperature controls, blower speed controls, DC motor, heater and battery pack charger. The handle is ergonomically designed for balance and comprises the heat and blower controls for convenient access and use. The heater comprises a tourmaline impregnated ceramic heater. Intake air flows over the tourmaline/ceramic heater producing negative ions so the hair does not become statically charged during the drying process. The air intake at the back of the hair dryer includes a removable filter to catch errant fibers and hair before they flow into the blower/heater area. The motor and tourmaline impregnated ceramic heater are mounted close to the battery pack in a manner that provides easier control.
US Patent Application No. 2002/0157276 to Charles Mujica provides a cordless portable hair dryer used without a line cord installed to the electricity, using a rechargeable battery sandwiching in the handset, connected to a multiple speed control switch, joined to a motor; that turns the fan to blow air. The device includes a cordless charger. This circuit, charges the interchangeable battery until the battery is charged, then it reduces the current to a trickle rate.
US Patent Application No. 2008/0216339 to Leonard M Gray provides a hair dryer includes a housing, a battery, a fan, a motor, wherein the fan is operatively connected to the motor, a heating element, wherein the fan, the motor, and the heating element are contained within the housing, wherein the heating element and the motor are operatively connected to and are powered entirely by the battery, and a control switch.
None of these prior art references describe the present invention.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTIONIt is an object of the present invention to provide a battery powered hair dryer providing a cordless, rechargeable, battery powered, personal hair dryer eliminating the need for an electrical cord.
It is further object of the present invention to provide a battery powered hair dryer providing a cordless, rechargeable, battery powered, personal hair dryer eliminating the need for an electrical cord having the handle of the hair dryer foldable against the body of the hair dryer for efficient storage.
The present invention is a Battery Powered Hair Dryer that will revolutionize the work of stylists and barbers, as well as the daily activities of household users who blow-dry and style their own and others' hair. The Battery Powered Hair Dryer does not depend upon a power-cord, but instead upon a concealed, rechargeable battery.
Please refer to the drawings. The Battery Powered Hair Dryer 10 is pistol-styled, multi-setting blow dryer. The Battery Powered Hair Dryer 10 features a tough and durable, scratch- and impact-resistant casing fabricated in heat-tolerant injection-molded thermoplastic; multiple settings in terms of heat (High, Medium, and Low), and two settings in terms of dryer-speed (High and Low). Heat setting control 42 and speed control setting 44 are mounted in handle 22. The Battery Powered Hair Dryer also includes two cone or nozzle attachments: a concentrator 32 shown in
The Battery Powered Hair Dryer 10 employs a long-life, rechargeable lithium-ion battery 18 in the base 20 of the handle 22, offering between 1 and 1½ hours cord-free operation on a single charge with extra battery packs sold separately. Base 20 slides into handle 22. The retail package includes a detachable power cord 24 and adapter (not shown) for charging the battery or for corded use, if desired; the attachments comprising a concentrator 32 shown In
The Battery Powered Hair Dryer provides household users, as well as professional stylists and barbers, a professional-quality blow dryer, without the hassle and inconvenience of the cord. Styling is easier with the Battery Powered Hair Dryer, with no cord to tangle or get in the way; and for anyone who travels, short- or long-distance, for pleasure or business, the Battery Powered Hair Dryer will be easier to pack, and require no international voltage-adapters, as corded dryers do. The Battery Powered Hair Dryer will be ideal, too, for camping, boating, hunting, and fishing trips, as well as for a quick styling session in the office before a dinner date. Clever in conception, the cordless Battery Powered Hair Dryer is also affordable in price, and will find a wide and enthusiastic reception in the household and styling professions, both within America and around the world.
Although this invention has been described with respect to specific embodiments, it is not intended to be limited thereto and various modifications which will become apparent to the person of ordinary skill in the art are intended to fall within the spirit and scope of the invention as described herein taken in conjunction with the accompanying drawings and the appended claims.
