GARDEN HAND TOOL HANGING DISPLAY PACKAGE
A hangable display package that contains a portion of a hand tool in a manner that reveals the hand tool while still contained in the package hanging on a display hook. An outer skin having a front panel, a back panel, and a side panel covers a filler material having a thickness equivalent to the thickness of the tool contained in the display. The front panel and filler are cut to create a cavity that conforms to the size and shape of a part of the hand tool. The front panel has a clear plastic window over the cavity, allowing display of the tool. The tool is held in the display package by the forces exerted on the tool by the filler material and the front and back panels when inserted into the cavity of the display package.
The present invention relates generally to improvements in hand tool display hangers and more particularly pertains to new and improved hanging display packages for garden hand tools.
2. Description of Related ArtHand tools which are displayed for sale are generally fixed on display hangers. The structure of such display hangers vary in complexity and aesthetics. Published U.S. Application No. US 2015/0209556 for a hand tool display hanger requires a plurality of different parts which must fit together precisely in order to display a hand tool. Other examples of hand tool display hangers are shown in U.S. Pat. No. 7,648,029. The rotatable anti-theft tool rack shown requires that multiple parts, such as a tool rack body and an inserting body for installation through the tool, is used. The inserting body is attached to the rack body. Precision parts are again required. A hanging-type demonstration packing box is shown in Chinese Patent 103,832,658 granted Jun. 4, 2014. The hanging-type display box is a rectangular box that contains a bottom, sides, a front and a rear, all of which connect together to enclose an item to be displayed through an opening in the front part of the box.
As can be seen in these hand tool displays, require manufacture and assembly of the displays that can be time-consuming and costly. These display devices for hand tools tend to be complicated and expensive to put together. They seem to be lacking in aesthetics, especially when it comes to a full display of the tool being offered for sale.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTIONAn efficient cost-effective hangable display package for garden hand tools, like clippers, has an outer skin that has a front panel, a back panel, and a side panel. The side panel defines the thickness of the display package. A filler material, like corrugated cardboard, fills the space between the front panel and back panel. A portion of the front panel and filler material is cut out to create a cavity that matches the shape of part of a hand tool to be held by the display package. A plastic window covers the cut out portion on the front panel. When inserted into the cavity of the package, the front panel window and back panel exert a grasping force on the front and back of the hand tool. The filler material exerts a grasping force on the sides of the hand tool. A cut out slot in the package allows for suspension of the display package on a display rack.
The exact nature of the present invention, as well as its objects and advantages, will become readily apparent upon consideration of the following specification, when considered in conjunction with the accompanying drawings, in which like reference numerals designate like parts throughout the figures thereof and wherein:
A preferred embodiment of the hanging display package 11 of the present invention is illustrated in
Since the display package 11 only has one side panel 15, the other side of the package is open as shown in
The filler material 17 located between the front panel and back panel is contained by the front panel 13, back panel 31 and side panel 15. This material fills the entire space between the front panel 13 and the back panel 31. This filler material may be corrugated cardboard layers, as illustrated in the Figures, or any other form of filler material such as Styrofoam, or similar plastic, that is sturdy enough to hold a tool but may be easily cut to create a desired cavity shape.
As shown in
A plastic window 21 mounted to the top panel 13 covers a major portion of the top part of the cavity 19 cut into the top panel 13.
To hang the display package 11 on a rack, or by a hook, for example, an aperture 25 is cut through all layers of the package at the top end between the front and back panels and through the filler material 17.
As seen in
The filler material 17 shown in
Claims
1. A display package for hand tools, comprising:
- an outer skin with a front panel having a top, bottom and two sides, connected by a side to a side panel having a top, bottom and two sides, connected by a side to a back panel having a top, bottom and two sides, the side panel top and bottom defining the thickness of the display package;
- a filler material between the front panel and back panel, shaped to match the front and back panels and the side panel; and
- the front panel and filler material having a cavity formed therein matching the shape and width of a specific hand tool to be contained by the display package, the cavity extending to the bottom of the front panel and filler material forming an opening at the bottom, the front panel, back panel and filler material containing an aperture at the top of the front and back panels through the filler material for suspending the display package on a display rack or display hook;
- whereby when the specific hand tool is inserted into the cavity in the display package from the bottom, between the front panel and back panel, the tool is held in the display package.
2. (canceled)
3. The display package of claim 1 wherein the filler material is cardboard stacked to a thickness that matches the length of the top and bottom of the side panel, and the shape of the front and back panels;
- wherein the lengths of the top and bottom of the side panel and thickness of the filler material is selected to match the width of the hand tool to be inserted in the cavity of the display package.
4. The display package of claim 1 further comprising a plastic window covering the cavity in the front panel.
5. The display package of claim 4 wherein the plastic window is mounted between the front panel and the filler material and extends towards the cavity opening at the bottom of the front panel and filler material.
6. The display package of claim 1 wherein the outer skin is permanently fastened to the filler material and encloses the filler material except at one side, the bottom and the top of the outer skin.
7. The display package of claim 1 wherein the back panel of the outer skin of the package has at least one aperture located to receive fastening bolt or nut heads of the specific hand tool.
