FITTED SHEET HAVING UTILITY POCKETS

Some implementations can include a fitted bed sheet having a sheet body and a plurality of utility pockets formed on an exterior surface of the body of the fitted bed sheet. The pockets can include two pockets on each side of the bed sheet, and two pockets at each end (e.g., head and foot) of the bed sheet. The arrangement of pockets can be symmetrical across both a lengthwise axis and a widthwise axis so that the fitted bed sheet can be rotated 180 degrees from a first position to a second position with pockets in the same locations for both the first and second positions.

Description
TECHNICAL FIELD

Some implementations relate generally to bed sheets, and more particularly, to a fitted bed sheet having a plurality of utility pockets.

BACKGROUND

Many existing fitted bed sheets are simply sheets having corners that are constructed to fit snugly around the corners of a mattress. People in bed may have a need to have certain objects such as remote controls, eye glasses, reading materials, etc. within easy reach. Nightstands may provide a place to store such objects. However, even a nightstand may be inconvenient or difficult to reach, especially for a person with limited mobility or a person confined to a bed.

Accordingly, a need may exist for a more convenient storage location for objects near a bed.

Some implementations were conceived in light of the above mentioned needs and limitations, among other things.

SUMMARY

Some implementations can include a fitted bed sheet having a sheet body and a plurality of utility pockets formed on an exterior surface of the body of the fitted bed sheet. The pockets can include two pockets on each side of the bed sheet, and two pockets at each end (e.g., head and foot) of the bed sheet. The arrangement of pockets can be symmetrical across both a lengthwise axis and a widthwise axis so that the fitted bed sheet can be rotated 180 degrees from a first position to a second position with pockets in the same locations for both the first and second positions.

The utility pockets can be constructed so as to be expandable. The utility pockets can also include a top closure formed from one or more of elastic, hook-and-loop, zipper, button, snap, or the like. In some implementations, the utility pockets can include pockets of about 10-12 inches in width and about 8 inches in height. In some implementations, each side pocket can be formed about 18 inches from the adjacent end edge (e.g., seam where side and end meet), and each end pocket can be formed about 9 inches from the adjacent side edge (e.g., seam where side and end meet).

The utility pockets can include more than two pockets on the ends. The utility pockets can include three pockets on each end with the third pocket formed so as to be centered on each respective end of the bed sheet body.

The fitted bed sheet with utility pocket can be formed from woven or knitted material. The pockets can be formed from the same or a different material as the sheet body.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS

FIG. 1 is a top view of an example fitted bed sheet having utility pockets in accordance with some implementations.

FIG. 2 is an end view of an example fitted bed sheet having utility pockets in accordance with some implementations.

FIG. 3 is a side view of an example fitted bed sheet having utility pockets in accordance with some implementations.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION

FIG. 1 shows a fitted bed sheet having utility pockets 100. The fitted bed sheet has a body portion 102 and a plurality of pockets including side pockets (104-110) and end pockets (112-118). The utility pockets (104-118) can be formed on an exterior surface of the body 102 of the fitted bed sheet. The utility pockets (104-118) can include two pockets on each side of the bed sheet (e.g., 104/106 and 108/110), and two pockets at each end (e.g., head and foot, 112/114 and 116/118) of the bed sheet 100. The arrangement of pockets can be symmetrical across both a lengthwise axis (e.g., axis indicated by dashed line “A”) and a widthwise axis (e.g., axis indicated by dashed line “B”) so that the fitted bed sheet can be rotated 180 degrees from a first position to a second position with pockets in the same locations for both the first and second positions. Rotating the bed sheet can help prevent wear to just one area of the sheet where a person's body rests.

The utility pockets (104-118) can be constructed so as to be expandable. The utility pockets (104-118) can also include a top closure formed from one or more of elastic, hook-and-loop, zipper, button, snap, or the like. The utility pockets (104-118) can be formed to be expandable (e.g., by including side gussets, rounded profile, sides and/or bottoms, or the like).

In some implementations, the utility pockets (104-118) can include pockets of about 10-12 inches in width and about 8 inches in height. In some implementations, each side pocket (104-110) can be formed about 18 inches from the adjacent end edge (e.g., seam or corner where side and end of sheet body 102 meet), and each end pocket (112-118) can be formed about 9 inches from the adjacent side edge (e.g., seam or corner where side and end of sheet body 102 meet).

The utility pockets (104-118) can include more than two pockets on the ends. The utility pockets (104-118) can include three pockets on each end with the third pocket formed so as to be centered on each respective end of the bed sheet body 102.

The fitted bed sheet with utility pockets 100 can be formed from woven or knitted material. The utility pockets (104-118) can be formed from the same or a different material as the sheet body 102.

FIG. 2 shows an end view of an example fitted bed sheet having utility pockets 100. In particular the fitted bed sheet body 102 is shown along with two pillows 202, 204 on top of the bed and end pockets 112/114 on the end of the bed (e.g., head of the bed).

FIG. 3 is a side view of an example fitted bed sheet having utility pockets 100. The side pockets 104/106 are shown. It will be appreciated that a fitted bed sheet having utility pockets can be made for any size of bed (e.g., twin, double, full, queen, king, California king, etc.). For some sizes (e.g., twin, etc.) there may only be one pocket at each end (e.g., the foot and head) of the fitted sheet, and the side pockets may be adjusted in size or placement according to the size of sheet being contemplated.

It is, therefore, apparent that there is provided, in accordance with the various embodiments disclosed herein, a fitted bed sheet having utility pockets.

While the disclosed subject matter has been described in conjunction with a number of embodiments, it is evident that many alternatives, modifications and variations would be, or are, apparent to those of ordinary skill in the applicable arts. Accordingly, Applicant intends to embrace all such alternatives, modifications, equivalents and variations that are within the spirit and scope of the disclosed subject matter.
