PROTECTING COVER
A protecting cover for an electronic device is disclosed. The protecting cover includes a first cover, a second cover and a holder. The first cover includes a first magnetic substance at an end and configured to protect a first side of the electronic device. The second cover is connected to the first cover through a connecting portion and configured to protect a second side opposite the first side of the electronic device. The holder including a supporting member coupled to an inner side of the second cover. The holder also includes a rotary member coupled the supporting member, and configured to be rotatable with respect to the supporting member and hold the electronic device. Other embodiments are possible.

BACKGROUND 1. FieldVarious embodiments relate to a protecting cover, particularly, a protecting cover that protects an electronic device.
2. Description of Related ArtVarious electronic devices such as a mobile phone, an MP3 player, and a tablet PC have been provided to users. Users can access various contents while carrying these various electronic devices.
These mobile electronic devices have various functions such as music and video playback, games, a camera, a calendar, and a dictionary other than the function of communicating with other electronic devices to satisfy various demands of users with development of the information & communication technology. Further, electronic devices provide even a function of searching various data and adding new applications.
Further, as mobile electronic devices are reduced in size and weight, users use the devices while moving by carrying them in hands, pockets, or bags. There is a possibility of a loss or damage while users keep and carry the devices, so separate protecting covers may be used to safely protect the devices.
Protecting covers, for example, may be composed of a front cover and a rear cover on which an electronic device can be mounted.
Protecting covers can provide the function of a cradle for electronic devices to stand at various angles in addition to the fundamental function of safely keeping electronic devices and protecting them from external shock or scratch. Accordingly, users can watch contents with electronic devices standing on a desk or a table using the protecting covers.
SUMMARYProtecting covers of the related art have a curved groove for standing an electronic device thereon and the curved structure fixes the protecting covers at only one angle, so users cannot stand electronic devices at desired angles.
Accordingly, the present disclosure provides a protecting cover having a holder that allows an electronic device to be stood at various angles, using friction between a first cover and a second cover.
A protecting cover for an electronic device according to an embodiment includes: a first cover having a first magnetic substance at an end and configured to protect a first side of the electronic device; a second cover connected to the first cover through a connecting portion and configured to protect a second side opposite the first side of the electronic device; and a holder including a supporting member coupled to an inner side of the second cover and a rotary member coupled to be rotatable with respect to the supporting member, and configured to hold the electronic device.
In the protecting cover for an electronic device according to an embodiment, the second cover may have a holder seat in which the holder is inserted to be coupled to the second cover.
In the protecting cover for an electronic device according to an embodiment, a pair of arms each having a first fastening hole may be formed at an end of the supporting member, a second fastening hole may be formed at an end of the rotary member, and the holder may further include a friction member disposed through the first fastening hole and the second fastening hole when the end of the rotary member is positioned between the pair of arms of the supporting member, and configured to generate friction when the rotary member is rotated with respect to the supporting member.
In the protecting cover for an electronic device according to an embodiment, the rotary member may include an adhesive member disposed on a first side of the rotary member to stably seat the electronic device.
In the protecting cover for an electronic device according to an embodiment, the rotary member may include a second magnetic substance disposed on a first side of the rotary member and configured to restrict movement of the rotary member by generating magnetic attraction with the first magnetic substance when the rotary member is positioned close to the end of the first cover.
In the protecting cover for an electronic device according to an embodiment, the supporting member may have a rotary member seat formed on a first side of the supporting member such that the rotary member coupled to be rotatable with respect to the supporting member is inserted therein to overlap the supporting member.
In the protecting cover for an electronic device according to an embodiment, the supporting member may include a third magnetic substance disposed on a first side of the supporting member and configured to restrict movement of the rotary member by generating magnetic attraction with the second magnetic substance when the rotary member overlaps the supporting member.
In the protecting cover for an electronic device according to an embodiment, an end of the first cover and an end of the second cover may have a curved shape.
In the protecting cover for an electronic device according to an embodiment, the second cover may include a fourth magnetic substance disposed at an end of the second cover and configured to restrict movement of the first cover and the second cover by generating magnetic attraction with the first magnetic substance when the first cover and the second cover are positioned close to each other.
In the protecting cover for an electronic device according to an embodiment, an end of the supporting member and an end of the rotary member may have a curved shape with curvature similar to curvature of the curved end of the second cover.
The protecting cover according to various embodiments can hold an electronic device on a rotary member at various angles using friction generated between the rotary cover and the supporting cover.
The protecting cover according to various embodiments can hold an electronic device using attraction between the magnetic substance of the first cover and the magnetic substance of the rotary member.

The electronic device according to one embodiment is not limited to the above described devices. In the present disclosure, the term “user” may indicate a person using an electronic device or a device (e.g., an artificial intelligence electronic device) using an electronic device.

According to an embodiment, components for various functions of the electronic device 10 may be disposed around a speaker 11. The components may include at least one sensor module 12. The sensor module 12, for example, may include at least one of an illumination sensor (e.g., a light sensor), a proximity sensor, an infrared sensor, and an ultrasonic sensor. The components may include a first camera 13. According to an embodiment, the components may include an LED indicator 14 for showing state information of the electronic device 10 to a user.
According to an embodiment, a second camera (not shown) may be disposed on a second side 22 opposite to a first side 21 in the electronic device 10.
According to an embodiment, the sensor module 12 may further include at least one of a gesture sensor (not shown), a magnetic sensor (not shown), an inertia sensor (not shown), a gyro sensor (not shown), an acceleration sensor (not shown), and a geomagnetic sensor therein to detect movement of the electronic device 10. However, the sensor module 12 is not limited thereto. The electronic device 10 can detect a change in location of the electronic device 10 (or displacement of the electronic device 10), using these motion sensors.

The display 30 according to an embodiment may be at least one of a touch screen panel, a Liquid Crystal Display (LCD), an Organic Light Emitting Diode (OLED), and a flexible display. However, the display 30 is not limited thereto. That is, various displays may be used as the display 30 as long as they can display still images/moving images and receive touch input.
The display 30 according to an embodiment may be a capacitance touch screen panel. The capacitance touch screen panel may be operated in a way of detecting the position of touch on the display 30, using a change in capacitance between a sensor electrode (not shown) and a driving electrode (not shown). For example, it is possible to detect a change in capacitance at specific points by sequentially measuring capacitance at several intersections formed by several sensor electrodes transversely arranged and several driving electrodes longitudinally arranged.
Further, recently, displays having a larger display area by minimizing the bezel area, flexible display, and convex or concave displays are provided. The display area can also be enlarged to sides by bending the edge of a display.
Since the display area of the display 30 is bent to sides, it is possible to enlarge the display area or use the sides as separate screens. That is, the display 30 according to an embodiment may include a first image area 31 and second image areas 32a and 32b located at the sides of the first image area 31.
An example of applying a protecting cover for an electronic device to the electronic device 10 including the display 30 having the first image area 31 and the second image areas 32a and 32b is described hereafter.
According to an embodiment, the protecting cover (or a protecting cover 100) for an electronic device can protect the external shape of the electronic device 10 from external shock.

According to an embodiment, a pair of arms 174 may be formed at the end 171 of the supporting member 170. First fastening holes 175 in which the shaft 310 and the friction member 320 can be inserted may be formed through the pair of arms 174.
According to an embodiment, an end of the rotary member 160 can be inserted between the pair of arms 174 at the end 171 of the supporting member 170. To this end, the end 164 of the rotary member 160 may be formed narrowly to fit to the length between the pair of arms 174. A second fastening hole 162 in which the shaft 310 and the friction member 320 can be inserted may be formed at the end 164 of the rotary member 160.
When the end 164 of the rotary member 160 is positioned between the pair of arms 174 at the end 171 of the supporting member 170, the central axes of the first fastening holes 175 and the second fastening hole 162 can be aligned. In this state, the friction member 320 can be inserted through the first fastening holes 175 and the second fastening hole 162. In this case, the length of the friction member 320 may be substantially the same as the width of the supporting member 170 and the outer diameter of the friction member 320 may be substantially the same as or smaller than the inner diameters of the first fastening holes 175 and the second fastening hole 162.
The friction member 320 according to an embodiment may have an open area 321. The radius of the friction member 320 can be increased or decreased by the open area 321. When the radius of the friction member 320 is increased, the friction member 320 can apply friction against rotation of the rotary member 160 and the supporting member 170 with the friction member 320 fitted therein.
For example, the shaft 310 may be inserted in the friction member 320 with the friction member 320 inserted in the first fastening holes 175 and the second fastening hole 162. By inserting the shaft 310, the radius of the friction member 320 can be increased and the outer side of the friction member 320 can be strongly in contact with the inner sides of the first fastening holes 175 and the second fastening hole 162.
Accordingly, the friction member 320 can apply friction against rotation of the rotary member 160 and the supporting member 170. Claims
1. A protecting cover for an electronic device, the protecting cover comprising:
- a first cover including a first magnetic substance at an end and configured to protect a first side of the electronic device;
- a second cover connected to the first cover through a connecting portion and configured to protect a second side opposite the first side of the electronic device; and
- a holder including a supporting member coupled to an inner side of the second cover and a rotary member coupled to the supporting member, and configured to rotate with respect to supporting member and hold the electronic device.
2. The protecting cover of claim 1, wherein the second cover includes a holder seat, the holder is inserted into the holder seat and coupled to the second cover.
3. The protecting cover of claim 1, further comprising: a pair of arms each including a first fastening hole formed at an end of the supporting member, and a second fastening hole formed at an end of the rotary member, and
- wherein the holder further includes a friction member disposed through the first fastening hole and the second fastening hole when the end of the rotary member is positioned between the pair of arms of the supporting member, and configured to generate friction when the rotary member is rotated with respect to the supporting member.
4. The protecting cover of claim 1, wherein the rotary member includes an adhesive member disposed on a first side of the rotary member to stably seat the electronic device.
5. The protecting cover of claim 1, wherein the rotary member includes a second magnetic substance disposed on a first side of the rotary member and configured to restrict movement of the rotary member by generating magnetic attraction with the first magnetic substance when the rotary member is positioned within a threshold to the end of the first cover.
6. The protecting cover of claim 1, wherein the supporting member includes a rotary member seat formed on a first side of the supporting member such that the rotary member coupled to be rotatable with respect to the supporting member is inserted therein to overlap the supporting member.
7. The protecting cover of claim 5, wherein the supporting member includes a third magnetic substance disposed on a first side of the supporting member and configured to restrict movement of the rotary member by generating magnetic attraction with the second magnetic substance when the rotary member overlaps the supporting member.
8. The protecting cover of claim 1, wherein an end of the first cover and an end of the second cover include a curved shape.
9. The protecting cover of claim 1, wherein the second cover includes a fourth magnetic substance disposed at an end of the second cover and configured to restrict movement of the first cover and the second cover by generating magnetic attraction with the first magnetic substance when the first cover and the second cover are positioned within a threshold to each other.
10. The protecting cover of claim 1, wherein an end of the supporting member and an end of the rotary member include a curved shape that is similar to a curved end of the second cover.
11. A protecting cover for an electronic device, the protecting cover comprising:
- a first cover including a first magnetic substance at a curved end and configured to protect a first side of the electronic device;
- a second cover connected to the first cover through a connecting portion and includes a second curved end and configured to protect a second side opposite the first side of the electronic device; and
- a holder including a supporting member and a rotary member, the supporting member is coupled to an inner side of the second cover, the rotary member is coupled to the supporting member, wherein the rotary member is configured to rotate with respect to supporting member and hold the electronic device,
- wherein, the curved end of the first cover and the curved end of the second cover are configured to protect a third side of the electronic device, and the connecting portion is configured to protect a fourth side of the electronic device, and
- wherein the first cover and the second cover are moveably hinged along the connecting portion.
12. The protecting cover of claim 11, wherein the second cover includes an internal side and an external side, the internal side includes a holder seat, wherein the holder is inserted into the holder seat.
13. The protecting cover of claim 11, wherein the supporting member comprises a first arm and a second arm protruding from an end of the supporting member towards the rotary member and a space separating the first arm and the second arm, the first arm includes a first fastening hole and the second arm includes a second fastening hole, wherein the first fastening hole faces the second fastening hole;
- wherein the rotary member is positioned in the space between the first arm and the second arm and comprises a third fastening hole positioned along a central axis with the first fastening hole and the second fastening hole; and
- wherein the holder comprises a friction member disposed through the first fastening hole, the second fastening hole, and the third fastening hole when the end of the rotary member is positioned between the first arm and the second arm, the friction member is configured to generate friction when the rotary member is rotated with respect to the supporting member.
14. The protecting cover of claim 11, wherein the rotary member comprises an adhesive member disposed on a first side of the rotary member, the adhesive member includes a nano suction that is affixed to the electronic device.
15. The protecting cover of claim 11, wherein the rotary member comprises a second magnetic substance disposed on a first side of the rotary member and configured to restrict movement of the rotary member by generating magnetic attraction with the first magnetic substance when the rotary member is positioned within a threshold to the curved end of the first cover.
16. The protecting cover of claim 15, wherein the rotary member supports the electronic device at one or a plurality of angles based on magnetic attraction that is generated when the first magnetic substance is within a threshold distance from the second magnetic substance.
17. The protecting cover of claim 15, wherein the supporting member comprises a third magnetic substance disposed on a first side of the supporting member and configured to restrict movement of the rotary member by generating magnetic attraction with the second magnetic substance when the rotary member overlaps the supporting member.
18. The protecting cover of claim 11, wherein the second cover includes a fourth magnetic substance disposed at an end of the second cover and configured to restrict movement of the first cover and the second cover by generating magnetic attraction with the first magnetic substance when the first cover and the second cover are positioned within a threshold to each other.
19. The protecting cover of claim 11, wherein as the rotary member is rotated in a first direction, the electronic device is separated from the second cover.
20. The protecting cover of claim 19, wherein as the rotary member is rotated in a second direction, the electronic device moved towards the second cover.
