Scuba Mask System
A full face scuba mask system includes a full face scuba mask that is worn underwater. The full face scuba mask has a regulator portion and a visor portion. The regulator portion includes a regulator and an air hose. The air hose is configured to be fluidly coupled to an air source thereby facilitating a diver to breathe underwater. A valve is coupled to the air hose and the valve is positioned between the regulator and the air source. The valve is selectively positioned between an on position and an off position to selectively allow and restrict a flow of air into the regulator. A snorkel unit is movably coupled to the full face scuba mask. The snorkel unit extends out of water when the diver is near a surface of the water. Thus, the diver may breathe atmospheric air when the diver is underwater.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION (1) Field of the Invention (2) Description of Related Art Including Information Disclosed Under 37 CFR 1.97 and 1.98The disclosure and prior art relates to scuba devices and more particularly pertains to a new scuba device combining a snorkel and a full face scuba mask.
BRIEF SUMMARY OF THE INVENTIONAn embodiment of the disclosure meets the needs presented above by generally comprising a full face scuba mask that is worn underwater. The full face scuba mask has a regulator portion and a visor portion. The regulator portion includes a regulator and an air hose. The air hose is configured to be fluidly coupled to an air source thereby facilitating a diver to breathe underwater. A valve is coupled to the air hose and the valve is positioned between the regulator and the air source. The valve is selectively positioned between an on position and an off position to selectively allow and restrict a flow of air into the regulator. A snorkel unit is movably coupled to the full face scuba mask. The snorkel unit extends out of water when the diver is near a surface of the water. Thus, the diver may breathe atmospheric air when the diver is near the surface of the water.

There are additional features of the disclosure that will be described hereinafter and which will form the subject matter of the claims appended hereto.

A valve 24 is coupled to the air hose 19 and the valve 24 is selectively manipulated. The valve 24 is positioned between the regulator 18 and the air source 20. The valve 24 is selectively positioned in a scuba position to facilitate compressed air to flow into the regulator 18. The valve 24 is selectively positioned in a snorkel position to inhibit the air from flowing into the regulator 18. The valve 24 may be a mechanical air valve or the like. The valve 24 may include a lever that extends away from the air hose 19 to position the valve between the on position and the off position.
A snorkel unit 26 is movably coupled to the full face scuba mask 12. The snorkel unit 26 extends away from the full face scuba mask 12. The snorkel unit 26 extends out of water when the diver 22 is near a surface of the water. Thus, the diver 22 may breathe atmospheric air when the diver 22 is near the surface of the water.
The snorkel unit 26 comprises a port 28 that is fluidly coupled to the full face scuba mask 12. The port 28 may be positioned on the visor portion 17 of the full face scuba mask 12 and the port may be positioned on the helmet associated with the scuba helmet. A snorkel 30 is provided that has a first end 32 and a second end 34. The snorkel 30 has a bend 36 thereon and the bend 36 is positioned closer to the second end 34 than the first end 32. Thus, the snorkel 30 has a J-shape.
A fitting 38 is provided. The fitting 38 is rotatably coupled to the second end 34 of the snorkel 30. The fitting 38 selectively engages the port 28 such that the snorkel 30 is fluidly coupled to the full face scuba mask 12. The snorkel 30 is rotatable about an axis extending through the fitting 38 and the port 28 when the fitting 38 is coupled to the port 28. Thus, the snorkel 30 is positionable at a selected angle with respect to the full face scuba mask 12.
A cap 40 is coupled to the snorkel 30. The cap 40 is selectively positioned on the first end 32 of the snorkel 30. Thus, the cap 40 inhibits water from entering the snorkel 30. The cap 40 is selectively removed from the first end 32 when the first end 32 is extended out of the water. Thus, the diver 22 may breathe the atmospheric air. A tether 42 is coupled between the cap 40 and the snorkel 30. Thus, the cap 40 is retained on the snorkel 30.
In use, the full face scuba mask 12 is worn in the convention of full face scuba masks. The cap 40 is positioned on the first end 32 of the snorkel 30. The valve 24 is positioned in the on position when the diver 22 is underwater. Thus, the diver 22 breathes compressed air from the air source 20. The valve 24 is positioned in the off position when the diver 22 is at or near the surface of the water. The cap 40 is removed from the snorkel 30. Thus, the diver 22 breathes atmospheric air thereby conserving air in the air source 20.
With respect to the above description then, it is to be realized that the optimum dimensional relationships for the parts of an embodiment enabled by the disclosure, to include variations in size, materials, shape, form, function and manner of operation, system and use, are deemed readily apparent and obvious to one skilled in the art, and all equivalent relationships to those illustrated in the drawings and described in the specification are intended to be encompassed by an embodiment of the disclosure.
Therefore, the foregoing is considered as illustrative only of the principles of the disclosure. Further, since numerous modifications and changes will readily occur to those skilled in the art, it is not desired to limit the disclosure to the exact construction and operation shown and described, and accordingly, all suitable modifications and equivalents may be resorted to, falling within the scope of the disclosure. In this patent document, the word “comprising” is used in its non-limiting sense to mean that items following the word are included, but items not specifically mentioned are not excluded. A reference to an element by the indefinite article “a” does not exclude the possibility that more than one of the element is present, unless the context clearly requires that there be only one of the elements.
Claims
1. A scuba mask system comprising:
- a full face scuba mask being configured to be worn underwater, said full face scuba mask having a regulator portion and a visor portion, said regulator portion including a regulator and an air hose, said air hose being configured to be fluidly coupled to an air source thereby facilitating a diver to breathe when the diver is underwater;
- a valve being coupled to said regulator portion wherein said valve is configured to be manipulated, said valve being positioned on said air hose, said valve being positioned between said regulator and the air source, said valve being selectively positioned between an on position and an off position wherein said valve is configured to selectively allow and restrict a flow of air into said regulator; and
- a snorkel unit being movably coupled to said full face scuba mask, said snorkel unit extending upwardly from said full face scuba mask wherein said snorkel unit is configured to extend out of water when the diver is near a surface of the water thereby facilitating the diver to breathe atmospheric air when the diver is underwater.
2. The system according to claim 1, further comprising said snorkel unit comprises a port being fluidly coupled to said full face scuba mask.
3. The system according to claim 1, further comprising a snorkel having a first end and a second end, said snorkel having a bend thereon, said bend being positioned closer to said second end than said first end such that said snorkel has a J-shape.
4. The system according to claim 3, further comprising:
- a port being fluidly coupled to said full face scuba mask; and
- a fitting being rotatably coupled to said second end of said snorkel, said fitting selectively engaging said port such that said snorkel is fluidly coupled to said full face scuba mask, said snorkel being rotatable in said fitting when said fitting is coupled to said port such that said snorkel is positionable at a selected angle with respect to said full face scuba mask.
5. The system according to claim 3, further comprising a cap being coupled to said snorkel, said cap being selectively positioned on said first end of said snorkel wherein said cap is configured to inhibit water from entering said snorkel, said cap being selectively removed from said first end when said first end is extended out of the water.
6. A full face scuba mask system comprising:
- a full face scuba mask being configured to be worn underwater, said full face scuba mask having a regulator portion and a visor portion, said regulator portion including a regulator and an air hose, said air hose being configured to be fluidly coupled to an air source thereby facilitating a diver to breathe when the diver is underwater;
- a valve being coupled to said regulator portion wherein said valve is configured to be manipulated, said valve being positioned on said air hose, said valve being positioned between said regulator and the air source, said valve being selectively positioned between an on position and an off position wherein said valve is configured to selectively allow and restrict a flow of air into said regulator; and
- a snorkel unit being movably coupled to said full face scuba mask, said snorkel unit extending upwardly from said full face scuba mask wherein said snorkel unit is configured to extend out of water when the diver is near a surface of the water thereby facilitating the diver to breathe atmospheric air when the diver is underwater, said snorkel unit comprising: a port being fluidly coupled to said full face scuba mask, a snorkel having a first end and a second end, said snorkel having a bend thereon, said bend being positioned closer to said second end than said first end such that said snorkel has a J-shape, a fitting being rotatably coupled to said second end of said snorkel, said fitting selectively engaging said port such that said snorkel is fluidly coupled to said full face scuba mask, said snorkel being rotatable in said fitting when said fitting is coupled to said port such that said snorkel is positionable at a selected angle with respect to said full face scuba mask, and a cap being coupled to said snorkel, said cap being selectively positioned on said first end of said snorkel wherein said cap is configured to inhibit water from entering said snorkel, said cap being selectively removed from said first end when said first end is extended out of the water.
