Description
BACKGROUND

Recently, it has become fashionable to have streaks of color applied to one's hair. In this regard, techniques are used that color portions of the hair while leaving other portions of the hair uncolored, thereby creating illuminating streaks.

One technique for putting streaks in hair involves using a using foil to cover the hair that the hairdresser intends to not color. Portions of hair are placed over the foil so that the portions are separate from the rest of the hair. The hairdresser then applies color to those portions of hair that are atop the foil, thereby, putting streaks in the hair.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION

FIG. 1 is a perspective view of comb 100 in accordance with an embodiment of the present disclosure. The comb 100 comprises a plurality of teeth 102 on one side of the comb spine 111. On the opposing side of the comb spine 111, the comb 100 comprises three streak-holding prongs 103-105. Further, the comb 100 comprises a handle 101 that a hair dresser holds while streaking hair (not shown).

Each of the streak-holding prongs 103-105 comprise a U-shaped gap 106-108, respectively. Further, separating each of the streak-holding prongs 103-105 are separation gaps, including a gap 109 that separates streak-holding prong 103 and 104 and a gap 110 separating the streak-holding prongs 104 and 105.

Note that in one embodiment, the comb 100 has determined dimensions. Each prong 103-105 is three (3) centimeters (cm) in length (A3) measured from the spine 111. The gaps 109 and 110 that separate the prongs 103 and 104 and 104 and 105 are approximately two (2) cm in width (A2). Further, the U-shaped notches 106-108 are approximately one (1) cm in depth (A4) and 1.5 cm in width (A2). Also, the prongs 103-105 are approximately two (2) millimeters (mm) in width at the point of interface with the spine 111, and the width decreases toward the outside end of the prongs 103-105 to one (1) mm in width.

In use, a hairdresser (not shown, but is further described with reference to FIG. 7), combs a portion of hair (not shown) such that some of the hair combed falls over the U-shaped gaps 106-108 and another portion of the hair falls over the gaps 109 and 110. Thus, when the hair dresser is applying color for streaking hair, he/she applies the color to that portion of the hair that falls over the U-shaped gaps 106-108, ensuring that only that portion of the hair is colored and the remainder of the hair that falls over gaps 109 and 110 is left untouched, thereby creating streaks in the hair.

FIG. 2 is a perspective view of comb 200 in accordance with an embodiment of the present disclosure. The comb 200 comprises a plurality of teeth 202 on one side of the comb spine 211. On the opposing side of the comb spine 211, the comb 200 comprises four streak-holding prongs 203-206.

Each of the streak-holding prongs 203-206 comprise a U-shaped gap 207-210, respectively. Further, separating each of the streak-holding prongs 203-206 are separation gaps, including a gap 212 that separates streak-holding prong 203 and 204, a gap 213 separating the streak-holding prongs 204 and 205, and a gap 214 separating streak-holding prongs 205 and 206.

Note that in one embodiment, the comb 200 has determined dimensions. Each prong 203-206 is three (3) cm in length (B3) measured from the spine 211. Furthermore, the gaps 212-214 are approximately two (2) cm in width (B1). Note as described above the gaps 212-214 separate the streak-holding prongs 203-206. Further, the U-shaped gaps 203-206 are approximately one (1) cm in depth (A4) and one and a half (1.5) cm in width (A2). Also, the prongs 203-206 are approximately two (2) mm in width at the point of interface with the spine 211, and the width decreases toward the outside end of the prongs 203-206 to one (1) mm in width.

Use of the comb 200 is substantially like use of comb 100 as described with reference to FIG. 1. That is, in use, a hairdresser (not shown, but is further described with reference to FIG. 7), combs a portion of hair (not shown) such that some of the hair combed falls over the U-shaped gaps 207-210 and another portion of the hair falls over the gaps 212-214. Thus, when the hair dresser is applying color for streaking hair, he/she applies the color to that portion of the hair that falls over the U-shaped gaps 207-210, ensuring that only that portion of the hair is colored, and the remainder of the hair that falls over gaps 212-214 is left untouched, thereby creating streaks in the hair.

FIG. 3 is a perspective view of comb 300 in accordance with an embodiment of the present disclosure. The comb 300 comprises a plurality of teeth 302 on one side of a comb spine 311. On the opposing side of the comb spine 311, the comb 300 comprises a plurality of streak-holding prongs 303-308.

Each of the streak-holding prongs 303-308 comprises a U-shaped notch 309-314, respectively. Further, separating each of the streak-holding prongs 303-308 are separation gaps, including gaps 315-319 that separate streak-holding prongs 303 and 304, 304 and 305, 305 and 306, 306 and 307, and 307 and 308, respectively.

Note that, in one embodiment, the comb 300 has determined dimensions. Each prong 303-308 is three (3) cm in length (C3) measured from the spine 311. Furthermore, the gaps 315-319 are approximately two (2) cm in width (C1). Note as described above the gaps 315-319 separate the streak-holding prongs 303-308. Further, the U-shaped notches 309-314 are approximately one (1) cm in depth (C4) and eight (8) mm in width (C2). Also, the prongs 303-308 are approximately two (2) mm in width at the point of interface with the spine 311, and the width decreases toward the outside end of the prongs 303-308 to one (1) mm in width.

In use, a hairdresser (not shown, but is further described with reference to FIG. 7), combs a portion of hair (not shown) such that portions of the hair combed falls over and through the U-shaped notches 309-314 and other portions of the hair fall over and through the gaps 315-319. Thus, when the hair dresser is applying color for streaking hair, he/she applies the color to those portions of the hair that fall over and through the U-shaped notches 309-314, ensuring that only those portions of the hair are colored. The portions of hair that fall over and through the gaps 315-319 are left untouched, thereby creating streaks in the hair.

FIG. 4 is a perspective view of comb 400 in accordance with an embodiment of the present disclosure. The comb 400 comprises a plurality of teeth 402 on one side of a comb spine 411. On the opposing side of the comb spine 411, the comb 400 comprises four (4) streak-holding prongs 403-406, which is like the comb 200 (FIG. 2).

Each of the streak-holding prongs 403-406 comprises a U-shaped notch 407-410, respectively. Further, separating each of the streak-holding prongs 403-406 are separation gaps, including gaps 411-413, that separate streak-holding prongs 403 and 404, 404 and 405, and 405 and 406, respectively.

The comb 200 and the comb 400 differ in dimensions. In this regard, each prong 403-406 is three (3) cm in length (D3) measured from the spine 411. Furthermore, the gaps 411-413 are approximately one and a half (1.5) cm in width (D1). Additionally, the U-shaped notches 407-410 are approximately one (1) cm in depth (D4) and six (6) mm in width (D2). Also, the prongs 403-406 are approximately two (2) mm in width at the point of interface with the spine 311, and the width decreases toward the outside end of the prongs 403-406 to one (1) mm in width.

In use, a hairdresser (not shown, but is further described with reference to FIG. 7), combs a portion of hair (not shown) such that portions of the hair combed falls over and through the U-shaped notches 407-410 and other portions of the hair fall over and through the gaps 411-413. Thus, when the hair dresser is applying color for streaking hair, he/she applies the color to those portions of the hair that fall over and through the U-shaped notches 407-410, ensuring that only those portions of the hair are colored. The portions of hair that fall over and through the gaps 411-413 are left untouched, thereby creating streaks in the hair.

FIG. 5 is a perspective view of comb 500 in accordance with an embodiment of the present disclosure. The comb 500 comprises a plurality of teeth 502 on one side of a comb spine 511. On the opposing side of the comb spine 511, the comb 500 comprises six (6) streak-holding prongs 503-508, which is like the comb 300 (FIG. 3).

Each of the streak-holding prongs 503-508 comprises a U-shaped notch 509-514, respectively. Further, separating each of the streak-holding prongs 509-514 are separation gaps, including gaps 515-519, that separate streak-holding prongs 503 and 504, 504 and 505, 505 and 506, 506 and 507, and 507 and 508, respectively.

The comb 300 and the comb 500 differ in dimensions. In this regard, each prong 503-508 is three (3) cm in length (E3) measured from the spine 511. Furthermore, the gaps 515-519 are approximately 1.2 cm in width (E1). Additionally, the U-shaped notches 509-514 are approximately one (1) cm in depth (E4) and six (60 mm in width (E2).

In use, a hairdresser (not shown, but is further described with reference to FIG. 7), combs a section of hair (not shown) such that portions of the hair combed fall over and through the U-shaped notches 509-514 and other portions of the hair fall over and through the gaps 515-519. Thus, when the hair dresser is applying color for streaking hair, he/she applies the color to those portions of the hair that fall over and through the U-shaped notches 509-514, ensuring that only those portions of the hair are colored. The portions of hair that fall over and through the gaps 515-519 are left untouched, thereby creating streaks in the hair.

FIG. 6 is a perspective view of comb 600 in accordance with an embodiment of the present disclosure. The comb 600 comprises a plurality of teeth 602 on one side of a comb spine 611. On the opposing side of the comb spine 611, the comb 600 comprises five (5) streak-holding prongs 603-607.

Each of the streak-holding prongs 603-607 comprises a U-shaped notch 608-612, respectively. Further, separating each of the streak-holding prongs 603-607 are separation gaps, including gaps 613-616, that separate streak-holding prongs 603 and 604, 604 and 605, 605 and 606, and 606 and 607, respectively.

Note that, in one embodiment, the comb 600 has dimensions. In this regard, each prong 603-607 is three (3) cm in length (F3) measured from the spine 611. Furthermore, the gaps 613-616 are approximately eight (8) mm in width (F1). Additionally, the U-shaped notches 608-612 are approximately one (1) cm in depth (F4) and one (1) cm in width (F2). Also, the prongs 603-607 are approximately two (2) mm in width at the point of interface with the spine 611, and the width decreases toward the outside end of the prongs 603-607 to one (1) mm in width.

In use, a hairdresser (not shown, but is further described with reference to FIG. 7), combs a section of hair (not shown) such that portions of the hair combed fall over and through the U-shaped notches 608-612 and other portions of the hair fall over and through the gaps 613-616. Thus, when the hair dresser is applying color for streaking hair, he/she applies the color to those portions of the hair that fall over and through the U-shaped notches 608-612, ensuring that only those portions of the hair are colored. The portions of hair that fall over and through the gaps 613-616 are left untouched, thereby creating streaks in the hair.

FIG. 7 depicts the back of a person's head 700 having hair 701. For illustrative purposes, comb 300 is shown as being used to streak the person's hair 701. However, any of the combs 100-600 may be used in a substantially similar manner to streak the hair 701.

The hairdresser (not shown) grasps the handle 301 and picks up with the comb a section 702 of the person's hair 701. In so doing, portions 703-708 fall over and through the notches 309-314, and portions 709-713 fall over and through the gaps 315-319. The hairdresser applies hair color to the portions 703-708 while easily avoiding getting color on the portions 709-713. Thus, using the comb 300 enables the hairdresser to easily streak the person's hair 701.
