Description
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION Field of Invention

The present invention relates to a system to insert a cement anchor into place.

Description of Related Art

Anchors are commonly used to attach objects and various structures to concrete structures. These anchors are secured into a hole that is pre-drilled and usually requires a construction worker to manually bend down and place the anchor inside the drilled hole or if inserted above, reach above to insert the anchors. The process of inserting these anchors can be dangerous and hazardous to workers due to the labor involved with each aspect. As a result, it would be advantageous to have special tooling to assist in the anchoring of concrete anchors.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

The present invention relates to a system for mounting an anchor into a concrete structure that includes: an adaptor, where the adaptor includes a bit; a bit stem at a first end of the bit; a socket at a second end of the bit, where the socket is adapted to receive an anchor; and a retaining hole within the socket to retain the socket on the bit. The socket includes an opening to receive the anchor, wherein the anchor include a plurality of openings and a stem extending from a first end.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF DRAWINGS

FIG. 1 shows a side view of a SDS Adaptor 10.

FIG. 2 shows a SDS bit stem.

FIG. 3 depicts a socket used in conjunction with the SDS bit.

FIG. 4 depicts a view of the inner surface of the socket in accordance with the present invention.

FIG. 5 depicts a first anchor used with the present invention.

FIG. 6 depicts a second anchor used with the present invention.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION

The present invention relates to a system for anchoring a cement anchor into place. Further invention includes a SDS adaptor that includes a bit with a socket for adaptation onto a concrete anchor. The socket is placed at one end of the bit and a bit stem is used at the opposing end to insert the bit into a hand drill. The bit may vary in length, therefore providing various sizes based upon application. This particular invention places the bit into a hand drill and then allows for the insertion of the anchor which is inserted into the socket.

In reference to FIG. 1, a side view of a SDS Adaptor 10 is depicted. This adaptor 10 includes a Bit Stem 12 and a Socket 14. The broken lines as shown at the center of the bit establishes that this bit size may vary in length. A close-up of the bit stem 12 is shown in FIG. 2 extending from SDS Bit 15. A close-up view of the socket 14 used with SDS Bit 15 is shown as FIG. 3. A retaining hole 18 is provided in the socket 14 to help retain an anchor within the bit 15 for placement purposes. A view of the inside of the socket 14 is shown in FIG. 4 showing opening 16 adapted to receive the anchor for placement purposes. Exemplary anchors are shown in FIGS. 5 and 6. Anchor 30 includes a stem 32 at a first end of the anchor 30 and openings at the opposing end. Opening 31 is shown with a second opening 33 at a right angle thereof. Another inner opening is shown near the stem end of the anchor 30. Opening 35 appears to traverse the entire diameter of the anchor 30. Anchor 40 is shown in FIG. 6 with less inner openings, opening 41 at one end thereof and opening 35 at the opposing end with stem 42 extending therefrom. The SDS adaptor 10 enables users to insert an anchor into a concrete surface without the manual labor that is normally associated with such an endeavor.

The foregoing descriptions of specific embodiments of the present invention have been presented for purposes of illustration and description. They are not intended to be exhaustive or to limit the invention to the precise forms disclosed, and obviously many modifications and variations are possible in light of the above teaching. The exemplary embodiment was chosen and described in order to best explain the principles of the invention and its practical application, to thereby enable others skilled in the art to best utilize the invention and various embodiments with various modifications as are suited to the particular use contemplated.
