SMOKING PIPE WITH POD

Abstract

A smoking pipe having a smoking pipe body, a mouthpiece end and a pod end. The smoking pipe body includes a cavity shaped to receive a pod holder. The cavity is located nearer to the pod end than to the mouthpiece end. The pod holder includes a pod cavity for receiving a pod. Magnetic material is positioned on the pod holder to securely hold, via a magnetic field, the pod to the pod holder. The pod includes a bowl for holding smoking material and a lip composed of material attracted to the magnetic material. A cover secures the smoking material within the bowl.

Description

BACKGROUND

Smoking pipes are used to inhale or taste smoke produced by tobacco, herbs, or other burnable substances. Smoking pipes are produced out of a variety of materials in all sorts of shapes and sizes. Typical materials used to make smoking pipes include glass, ceramic, wood, rubber, plastic and metal.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION

FIG. 1 is a side view of a smoking pipe 10. A mouthpiece end 11 has a round shape to allow for a comfortable feel when using smoking pipe 10 for smoking. For example, a diameter 13 of mouthpiece end 11 is approximately fourteen millimeters (mm) in length. Alternatively, mouthpiece 11 is selected to have another diameter length and/or shape believed to provide a comfortable feel when using smoking pipe 10 for smoking. A pod end 12 is, for example, square-shaped. For example, a length 15 of each square side of pod end 12 is approximately twenty-seven millimeters (mm). Alternatively, pod end 12 is selected to have another length and/or dimensions. For example, across the body of smoking pipe 10 traversing from mouthpiece end 11 to pod end 12, cross sections of smoking pipe 10 gradually transform from round at mouthpiece end 11 to square at pod end 12. For example, a distance 14 of mouthpiece end 11 to pod end 12 is 127 millimeters or some other selected distance.

For example, the body of smoking pipe 10 is composed of food-grade FDA-approved silicone. Alternatively, smoking pipe 10 is composed of glass, ceramic, wood, rubber, plastic, metal or some other material or combination of materials.

FIG. 2 is a front view of smoking pipe 10 from mouthpiece end 11 looking down towards pod end 12.

FIG. 3 is a side view of smoking pipe 10 illustrating how at mouthpiece end 11, an edge of smoking pipe 11 can be rounded for smoking comfort. For example, the rounding reduces the diameter of mouthpiece end 11 from fourteen millimeters to a reduced diameter 16 of approximately twelve millimeters in length at a tip of mouthpiece end 11.

FIG. 4 is a back view of smoking pipe 10 from pod end 12. An air hole 21 allows air to flow into pod end 12 during smoking. For example, pod end 12 of smoking pipe 10 is flat allowing for smoking pipe 10 to stand with pod end 12 facing down.

FIG. 5 is a perspective view of smoking pipe 10 showing smoking pipe 10 standing on pod end 12. Cross sections of smoking pipe 10 gradually transform from round at mouthpiece end 11 to square at pod end 12 so that at a region 42, a cross-section of smoking pipe 10 is substantially square and at a region 41, a cross-section of smoking pipe 10 is substantially round.

FIG. 6 is a top view of smoking pipe 10. A cavity 24 is used to receive a pod holder, shown in FIG. 7. For example, a distance 23 between an edge of smoking pipe 10 and an edge of cavity 24 is approximately two millimeters. Alternatively, distance 23 is another length. For example, a distance 22 between pod end 12 of smoking pipe 10 and a nearest edge of cavity 24 is approximately ten millimeters. Alternatively, distance 22 is another length.

FIG. 7 shows details of a pod holder 30 for smoking pipe 10. For example, pod holder 30 is designed and sized to “snap” securely into cavity 24 of smoking pipe 10. For example, dimensions for pod holder 30 include a side length 32 of 25.5 millimeters, a side length 33 of 27 millimeters and a side length 34 of 23.5 millimeters. A cavity 31 has a diameter 36 of, for example, 15.5 millimeters. For example, pod holder 30 is 0.5 millimeters thick. The dashed lines outline a location 35 of magnetic material located on an underside of pod holder 30, adjacent to cavity 31. For example, the magnetic material is a ring magnet glued to the underside of pod holder 30. Cavity 31 is sized to receive a pod shown in FIG. 8. For example, pod holder 30 is composed of food-grade stainless steel. Alternatively, pod holder 30 is composed of another material. The magnetic material on the underside of pod holder 30 is used to hold the pod in position within cavity 31 of pod holder 30.

FIG. 8 is a top view of a pod 50 for smoking pipe 10. A bowl 52 has an inner diameter 53 of, for example, fifteen millimeters. A pod outer lip 51 has an outer diameter 54 of, for example, nineteen millimeters. For example, bowl 52 is composed of food-grade stainless steel mesh. For example, pod outer lip 51 is composed of material attracted to a magnet.

FIG. 9 is a side view of pod 50. For example, bowl 52 has a depth 55 of eight millimeters. Once smoking material is within bowl 52, smoking paper 62 having a diameter matching the diameter of outer lip 51, for example, nineteen millimeters, is placed on top of bowl 52. A cover 63 is placed over top of smoking paper 62 and folded under outer lip of bowl 52. For example, cover 63 has a diameter larger than the diameter of outer lip 51, allowing cover 63 to be folded under outer lip 51 to hold cover 63 over bowl 52. For example, when the diameter of outer lip 51 is nineteen millimeters, the unfolded diameter of cover 63 is twenty-three millimeters.

Cover 63 serves as a flat lid for bowl 52, holding smoking material, such as tobacco, securely within bowl 52. A magnetic field between the magnetic material on the underside of pod holder 30 and outer lip 51 and/or cover 63 folded under outer lip 51 holds pod 50 securely in pod holder 30. Pod 50 can be removed from pod holder 30 by exerting sufficient pressure so as to overcome the magnetic field between the magnetic material on the underside of pod holder 30 and outer lip 51 and/or cover 63 folded under outer lip 51.

The dimensions given throughout are exemplary. For example, the dimensions of bowl 52 can be adjusted to increase the amount of smoking material that bowl 52 can hold. For example, adjusting the dimensions of bowl 52 may result in adjusting other dimensions of smoking pipe 10.

Claims

1. A smoking pipe, comprising:

a smoking pipe body having a cavity shaped to receive a pod holder;

a mouthpiece end; and

a pod end, wherein the cavity is located nearer to the pod end than to the mouthpiece end;

wherein the pod holder comprises: a pod cavity for receiving a pod, and magnetic material being positioned on the pod holder to securely hold, via a magnetic field, the pod to the pod holder;

wherein the pod comprises; a bowl for holding smoking material, a lip composed of material attracted to the magnetic material, and a cover for securing the smoking material within the bowl.

2. A smoking pipe as in claim 1, wherein the smoking pipe body is composed of food-grade silicone.

3. A smoking pipe as in claim 1, wherein a cross-section at or near the mouthpiece end is round and a cross-section at or near the pod end is square.

4. A smoking pipe as in claim 1, wherein a cross-section at or near the mouthpiece end is round, a cross-section at or near the pod end is square and cross-sections when traversing the smoking pipe body from the mouthpiece end to the pod end gradually transform from round to square.

5. A smoking pipe as in claim 1, wherein an edge at the mouthpiece end is rounded.

6. A smoking pipe as in claim 1, wherein the pod end is sufficiently flat to allow the smoking pipe to stand with the pod end facing down.

7. A smoking pipe as in claim 1, wherein the pod holder is composed of stainless steel.

8. A smoking pipe as in claim 1, wherein the pod is composed of food-grade stainless steel mesh.

9. A smoking pipe as in claim 1, wherein the cover is composed of food-grade stainless steel mesh that is placed over the bowl and is folded under the lip of the pod.

10. A smoking pipe as in claim 1, wherein the cover is composed of food-grade stainless steel mesh, the cover being placed over the bowl and being folded under the lip of the pod to contain the smoking material and a top layer of smoking paper within the pod.

11. A smoking pipe, comprising:

a pod, the pod including:

a bowl for holding smoking material,

a lip composed of material that is attracted to a magnet, and

a cover for securing the smoking material within the bowl;

a pod holder, the pod holder including:

a pod cavity for receiving the pod, and

magnetic material being positioned on the pod holder to securely hold, via a magnetic field, the pod to the pod holder;

a smoking pipe body having a cavity shaped to receive a pod holder, the smoking pipe body including:

a mouthpiece end, and

a pod end, wherein the cavity is located nearer to the pod end than to the mouthpiece end.

12. A smoking pipe as in claim 11, wherein the smoking pipe body is composed of food-grade silicone.

13. A smoking pipe as in claim 11, wherein a cross-section at or near the mouthpiece end is round and a cross-section at or near the pod end is square.

14. A smoking pipe as in claim 11, wherein a cross-section at or near the mouthpiece end is round, a cross-section at or near the pod end is square and cross-sections when traversing the smoking pipe body from the mouthpiece end to the pod end gradually transform from round to square.

15. A smoking pipe as in claim 11, wherein an edge at the mouthpiece end is rounded.

16. A smoking pipe as in claim 11, wherein the pod end is sufficiently flat to allow the smoking pipe to stand with the pod end facing down.

17. A smoking pipe as in claim 11, wherein the pod holder is composed of stainless steel.

18. A smoking pipe as in claim 11, wherein the pod is composed of food-grade stainless steel mesh.

19. A smoking pipe as in claim 11, wherein the cover is composed of food-grade stainless steel mesh that is placed over the bowl and is folded under the lip of the pod.

20. A smoking pipe as in claim 11, wherein the cover is composed of food-grade stainless steel mesh, the cover being placed over the bowl and being folded under the lip of the pod to contain the smoking material and a top layer of smoking paper within the pod.
