Therapeutic Multi-Layered Bed Cover

A therapeutic multi-layered bed cover having at least two layers, one being a sheet layer and another being layer, both layers having four edges, each defining dimensions with the blanket layer dimensions being slightly greater than the sheet layer dimensions, the blanket layer and sheet layer being attached at their respective edges by an attaching means, such as thread stitching. The blanket layer dimensions are slightly greater than the sheet layer dimensions, and the blanket layer is double stitched over the sheet layer, thereby resulting in the softness of the blanket layer edge around the entirety of the bed cover. The bed cover also has a plurality of seam stitching in a pattern on the bed cover, the seam stitching being thread stitching sewn through the sheet layer and blanket layer to prevent the sheet layer and blanket layer from separating.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION Field of the Invention

This invention relates to a therapeutic multi-layered bed cover.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

Many types of bed covers exist, from simple sheets and covers, to quilted comforters, to detachably connected layered coverings. There are inherent problems with each of these types of coverings. Sheets alone may be to light and may not provide enough warmth. Covers alone do not provide the comfortable feel or smoothness of a sheet upon the sleeper's skin, and covers with sheets can become disarrayed, causing inconsistent coverage and warmth. Stuffed, quilted and detachably connected layered coverings can be too heavy and uncomfortable for the sleeper. The present disclosure provides a lighter, warmer and more comfortable bed covering.

Your applicant has experienced feeling cold year round, using heavy blankets in the winter and a sheet and a light weight blanket in the summer to keep warm. Problems inherent with heavy blankets and sheets include the weight and pressure that is placed upon one's legs and feet, resulting in an uncomfortable night's sleep just to keep warm at night; the blankets and sheets ending up at the foot of the bed in the morning making it difficult or time consuming to align the sheet and blanket when making up the bed in the morning; and that during the night the sheet and blanket can become unevenly distributed, resulting in an uneven warmth throughout the night.

Applicant has eliminated those inherent problems with an all-in-one therapeutic sheet and blanket bed cover. The therapeutic bed cover retains warmth without the weight of a typical sheet and blanket, replaces the need to buy and coordinate sheets with blankets, makes it easier to make the bed, and is preferably made of a soft 100% Egyptian cotton or compatible sheet or blanket materials with enhanced double stitched seams. Sizes can vary from standard size throw or smaller dimensions to single, twin, queen or king sizes or larger dimensions and can be a variety of colors, either contrasting sheet and blanket layers or coordinating colored sheet and blanket layers. The therapeutic bed cover can used year round and economically washes up in one load of laundry.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF DRAWINGS

FIG. 1 shows a perspective view of the bed cover 1. The bed cover 1 has a plurality of layers comprising a sheet layer 2, a blanket layer 3 and four edges 4. The sheet layer 2 further comprising four sheet edges 4a defining its dimensions and the blanket layer 3 further comprising four blanket edges 4b defining its dimensions.

Referring now to FIG. 2, the sheet layer 2 and blanket layer 3 are shown in a cut-away view being attached at their respective edges 4a and 4b by stitching, with the blanket layer 3 being double stitched 6 over the sheet layer 2 resulting in the softness of the blanket layer 3 edge 4b comprising the entire four edges 4 of the bed cover.

Referring again to FIG. 1, a plurality of seam stitching 5 are shown. The seam stitching 5 comprise thread sewn through the sheet layer 2 and blanket layer 3 to prevent the two layers from separating or balling up in a washing machine or dryer. The preferred embodiment shows the plurality of seam stitching 5 being situated in a 2-1-2 pattern, with one seam stitching centered on the bed cover 1, and two seam stitching 5 located evenly spaced halfway between the centered seam stitching 5 and two of the edges 4 of the bed cover 1. The seam stitching 5 comprises a shape 6, the shape 6 further comprising a line or a geometric shape. The preferred embodiment of the seam stitching 5 is a line, but the seam stitching 5 can also be in the shape of a circle or some other geometric shape.

The sheet layer 2 further comprises a durable, soft, high thread count sheet material and the blanket layer 3 further comprises a durable, soft, lightweight and warm material suitable for use as a blanket, providing for the bed cover lasting through many washings. The blanket layer 3 can also be made of a warmer material, keeping it light weight, to provide more warmth during colder months. The blanket layer 3 has dimensions slightly greater than the dimensions of the sheet layer 2 to allow for the double edging stitching enabling the bed cover 1 to have soft edges. Benefits of the bed cover 1 include its light weight, the versatility of a warm or cool experience depending on the season or climate, the elimination of twisting of blankets and sheets at night when sleeping, its simplicity—there is no need to buy a matching sheet to coordinate with a blanket, it doesn't loose it shape, is flexible with more movement than the typical two separate layers of sheet and blanket, and its unique sewn construction which also aides in easy, quick laundering. Further benefits include the ease of storing the bed cover for easy availability for overnight guests and its usefulness for dorms, boats, cabins, hospitals, hotels, and airlines for either personal or commercial uses.
