Continuous Core Putter
A golf putter is provided having a center core which extends through the putter head, the shaft, and into the grip. The center core not only acts as the backbone of the putter, the center core extends to the outer edges of putter and thus determines the shape of the putter. Additional parts necessary for a complete putter such as the putter head, shaft, and grip are attached to the center core to form a functional putter.
My invention relates to golf equipment. More specifically, my invention relates to golf putters.
Traditional putters consist of three separate parts; grip, shaft, head. The three-part construction of the traditional putter places limitations on putter design. Traditional putters provide minimal feedback to the golfer. Traditional putters are quite fragile in construction. Traditional putters limit the options for the golfer to personalize the look and feel of his or her putter. My invention offers solutions to these issues.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTIONMy invention is a continuous core putter. The design of the putter uses a continuous core as the foundation upon which the entire putter is constructed. This core extends through the putter head, the shaft, and into the grip. The continuous core defines the general outline of the putter shape. This method of construction offers advantages over traditional putters. (1) The core is visible to the golfer when he or she addresses the golf ball. The straight line presented by the continuous core serves as a visual aiming aid to the golfer. (2) The core is exposed on both sides of the putter grip enabling direct tactile feedback to the golfer' hands when striking the golf ball. (3) The construction of the continuous core putter is robust requiring minimal maintenance. (4) The design of the continuous core putter offers the golfer a wide variety of choices to customize and personalize the look and feel of his or her putter.
One embodiment of the continuous core putter is illustrated as an example and is not the only embodiment contemplated by the inventor.
My invention contrasts from the traditional three-part putter by providing continuity to the shape, and structure of the putter (grip, shaft, and putter head). My invention is shown in exploded perspective view in
The continuous core putter may be fabricated using a variety of methods and materials. The continuous core B and the lateral structures A and C may be composed of various metals, plastics, composites, woods, laminates, or other suitable materials. Once the appropriate materials are chosen for these parts they may be formed using laser cutting, water jet cutting, casting, extrusion, additive processes such as 3D printing, subtractive processes such as milling and/or routing, or other appropriate processes known in the industry. Once formed, these parts will then be joined using adhesives, hardware (such as pins, screws, bolts), welding, or combinations thereof. Following the joining of the parts, the exterior surfaces of the putter will be finished to the desired shape and texture.
Claims
1. A golf putter comprising; a one-piece continuous core, said core beginning in the putter head, extending through the shaft, and into the grip forming the general outline of said putter.
- The golf putter of claim 1 further comprising structural and/or decorative material attached to said continuous core to provide shape, function, texture, and aesthetics to said putter grip, shaft, and putter head.
