The current application claims a priority to the U.S. Provisional Patent application Ser. No. 62/572,993 filed on Oct. 16, 2017.
FIELD OF THE INVENTIONThe present invention relates generally to rain covers for backpacks. More specifically, the present invention relates to a rain cover for a backpack for not only protecting the backpack from rain, snow, etc., but also providing a hood and/or a body cover with hood for a user who is carrying the backpack to protect the user's head and/or body.
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTIONBackpacks are widely used items which are indispensable for many users. From students to athletes and professionals, backpacks are used every day to alleviate with the transportation of items necessary to the user. In general, a backpack comprises an outer body enclosing a storage space where items can be placed. A number of pockets are further provided around the outer surfaces of the backpack to allow a user to store smaller items which can be easily reached. The backpack further comprises a number of straps to allow the user to wear the backpack on their back or hang it from the shoulder. While most backpacks do a great job at protecting stored items from the environment, it is a common issue for users to get their backpacks wet when it rains or snows. Most backpacks are made of materials that are not waterproof, which leaves the stored items in danger of getting wet in case of rain or snow. A common solution for this problem is to cover the backpack with the user's coat, jacket, or rain gear. However, most of these garments are not big enough to cover both the user and the backpack. In addition, most users do not always carry such devices with them and covering the backpack with these devices prohibits the user from easily reaching into the backpack to retrieve stored items. Another solution to this problem is to make the backpacks from waterproof materials. Unfortunately, this solution is hard to implement due to the various openings and connection points of the backpack which still leave some areas of the backpack vulnerable. Thus, a rain cover for backpacks or similar devices which is stored in the backpack and allows the user to easily and quickly deploy the rain cover to protect the entire body of the backpack while leaving the straps out is beneficial and necessary.
An objective of the present invention is to provide a rain cover for backpacks, which is stored in the backpack and can be easily deployed. Having the rain cover for backpacks always accessible as well as allowing the user to easily deploy the rain cover is beneficial to the user. Another objective of the present invention is to provide a rain cover for backpacks, which fully covers the body of the backpack and leaves the straps out so the user can still normally wear the backpack. Another objective of the present invention is to provide a rain cover for backpacks which allows the user to easily retrieve stored items inside the backpack without having to remove the rain cover from the backpack. Another objective of the present invention is to provide a rain cover for backpacks which further provides a rain hood and/or a body cover with hood, so that the user's head and/or body can also be protected from the rain or snow. Additional advantages of the invention will be set forth in part in the detailed description which follows, and in part will be obvious from the description, or may be learned by practice of the invention. Additional advantages of the invention may be realized and attained by means of the instrumentalities and combinations particularly pointed out in the detailed description section of the present invention. Further benefits and advantages of the embodiments of the invention will become apparent from consideration of the following detailed description given with reference to the accompanying drawings, which specify and show preferred embodiments of the present invention.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTIONThe present invention is a rain cover for backpacks also known as Bag2bags. The rain cover for backpacks has the same shape as the backpack so that the rain cover fully protects the backpack. The rain cover provides a convenient fastener to allow the user to open the rain cover like a vest. Further, the rain cover is made with two layers of vinyl or nylon or a combination of both and additional materials to provide extra protection from the weather. The rain cover provides openings on the back to allow the straps of the backpack to be left out so that the user can still wear the backpack normally. The rain cover fully encloses the backpack and can be easily deployed and removed. The rain cover further provides reflective surfaces so that the rain cover can be easily seen at night in traffic areas. The rain cover is easy to carry and can be folded and stored inside a pouch or pocket of the backpack. The rain cover is 100% waterproof and offers protection against rain, snow, or any other weather condition. The rain cover further provides a hood or a body cove with hood, which is folded and stored in a closed pocket of the backpack when not in use, to protect the head and/or the entire body of the user.
All illustrations of the drawings are for the purpose of describing selected versions of the present invention and are not intended to limit the scope of the present invention.
