DETAILED DESCRIPTION

The detailed description describes an exemplary back-invigorator device in accordance with an embodiment of the present disclosure. The back-invigorator device comprises an implement on one end, which can be a brush, a loofa, or a roller. On the other end is a handle. Interposed between the implement on the one end and the handle on the other end is a detachable hinge. The detachable hinge allows the back-invigorator device to be expanded in use and collapsed when not in use. The back-invigorator device may be expanded and used to scratch, rub, or roll a user's back by grasping the handle and positioning the implement end of the back-invigorator device in proximity to the user's back. The back-invigorator device may be collapsed, for example, for transporting.

FIG. 1A depicts a top perspective view of a back-invigorator device 100 in an expanded state in accordance with an embodiment of the present disclosure. Note that FIG. 1A shows the back-invigorator device 100 in an expanded state. That is, a handle 101 is substantially in alignment with a brush 102. Further note that the back-invigorator device 100 has a slight curvature, curving downward from the handle 101 to a central hinge and detachment mechanism 103 and to the brush 102. The back-invigorator device 100 may be comprised of any nonflexible-type material, such as a hard plastic, wood, or metal.

The handle 101 is comprised of a grip 104. In one embodiment, the grip 104 is comprised of a slip-free material, e.g., rubber. On a top side, the grip 104 comprises a plurality of indentations 105. Further, on a bottom side, the grip 104 comprises an indentation 106. The indentations 105 are configured for receiving fingers (not shown) of a user (not shown), and the indentation 106 is configured for receiving a thumb (not shown) of the user. In this way, the user grasps the back-invigorator device 100 via the handle 101.

The back-invigorator device 100 comprises a shaft 107 that extends from the handle 101 to the central hinge and detachment mechanism 103. Further, the back-invigorator device 100 comprises a shaft 108 that extends from the central hinge and detachment mechanism 103 to the brush 102. Note that in the embodiment depicted, the girth of the shaft 108 increases from the central hinge mechanism 103 to the brush 102.

On a top side, the brush 102 comprises base plate 109. The base plate 109 is substantially flat relative to the shaft 108. In this regard, the shaft 108 is integral with the base 109, which is substantially rectangular. Further, the brush 102 comprises a plurality of bristles 110. The bristles 110 extend from a bristle plate (not shown but shown in FIG. 1B). Note that the bristles 110 are on the bottom of the back-invigorator device 100 as is the thumb indentation 106.

In operation, a user (not shown) grasps the handle 101 placing his/her fingers in the top indentations 105 of the grip 104 and his/her thumb in the bottom indentation 106. The user positions the back-invigorator device 100 in a position such that the bristles 110 may interact with the user's back (not shown). The user can then brush his/her back with the bristles 110 by moving the back-invigorator device 100 in an up and/or down or side-to-side motion while grasping the handle 101.

FIG. 1B is an exploded view of the back-invigorator device 100 in an expanded state in accordance with an embodiment of the present disclosure. Note that as described above, the back-invigorator device 100 is comprised of a nonflexible-type material, e.g., hard plastic, wood, or metal. Further, the grip 104 is comprised of a flexible-type material, e.g., rubber.

The shaft comprises a molded section 123 that mimics the grip 104. In this regard, for the handle 101, the grip 104 fits over the section 123 so that the inflexible-type material out of which the shaft is made supports the flexible-type material out of which the grip 104 is made.

The hinge and detachment mechanism 103 comprises a hinge receptacle 122 that engages another hinge receptacle 121. Each of the receptacles 122 and 121 comprises an opening which is configured for receiving a hinge pin 120. The hinge mechanism 103 enables the back-invigorator device 100 to be expanded for use and collapsed for transport. Further, the hinge pin 120 may be removed and another implement may be attached to the shaft 107, which is described further herein.

The brush 102 comprises the base plate 109 and a bristle plate 131. The base plate 109 comprises protrusions 124 and 125 that have substantially rectangular openings therein. The shaft 108 extends rectangularly on the brush end and comprises a substantially rectangular opening 130 for receiving the base plate 109. Further, the rectangular portion of the shaft 108 comprises coupling openings 126 and 127 for receiving and securing the protrusions 124 and 125, respectively, on the base plate 109. The bristle plate 131 comprises protrusions 128 and 129 that are also received and secured by the openings 126 and 127, respectively.

FIG. 2 is a bottom perspective view of the back-invigorator device 100 showing the back-invigorator device 100 in an expanded state. The handle 101 comprises the grip 104 installed on the shaft 107. The brush 102 comprises the plurality of bristles 110 on an end of the shaft 108. The shaft 107 is hingedly coupled to the shaft 108. Thus, the back-invigorator device 100 may be moved from an extended shape (as shown) to a collapsed shape shown herein.

FIG. 3 is a brush end view of the back-invigorator device 100 in an expanded state. The end view shown illustrates the curvature of the back-invigorator device 100. In this regard, the handle 101 is below the brush 102 in that the shaft 107 (FIG. 1A) curves downward toward the hinge and detachment mechanism 103 (FIG. 1A) and the shaft 108 (FIG. 1A) curves downward toward the brush 102.

FIG. 4 is a side view of the back-invigorator device 100 in an expanded state. The handle 101 is coupled to shaft 107. Note that the handle 101 may be separate from or integral with the shaft 107. The brush 102 is coupled to the shaft 108. Note that the brush 102 may be separate from or integral with the shaft 108. Coupling shaft 107 to shaft 108 is a hinge mechanism 103.

FIG. 5 is a handle end view of the back-invigorator device 100 in an expanded state. The end view shown illustrates the curvature of the back-invigorator device 100.
