Apparatus to stop damage from Frozen Ground and expanding Ice
This Apparatus to stop damage from Frozen Ground and expanding Ice is to be used to protect property that could be damage from ground and water when it freezes. As ground and water freezes it expands, and when it thaws and refreezes it expands more this causes damage to property. On ground that freezes it expands with great force that can crush rock, this force will lift, crack, brake, crush, and push in walls. Likewise when water freezes it expands and causes great damage, this can be seen around lakes that people have landscaped and in the spring they have to fix it or redo it all over. This invention is used to stop damage from frozen ground and ice by creating a brake line in the frozen ground and ice causing a week spot and redirecting the energy instead of pushing in a straight line this invention will cause the energy upward where the expanding ground or ice would pile up, and stops the expanding energy from damaging property. This invention may be made of any type of materials that would be smooth or slippery on at least one side. It may be held in place with bracing that may change to fit the different materials the main body is made of, such as what is required by the Department of Natural Resource or other state or government department.
For as long as man has changed the landscape by building some kind of structure on it we had to fight mother nature to keep from damaging it. Such as fixing up the beach or lake shore on lakes that freeze they have had to fix the beach or shoreline every year. This is caused by the lake freezing and thawing and refreezing, causing the ice to grow and expand. As the ice expands it pushes the shoreline up and away from the lake. For those that may spend a lot of money to make their shoreline look good, they would have to spend a lot of money to fix it up indeed. I came up with a way to stop this damage from happening each year. Use of this product will stop the ice from damaging the shoreline, beach and landscaping. This apparatus makes a brake line in the ice causing it to pushup and piling the ice in the lake and not pushing it on the shoreline and damaging the beach. In the same way the ice damages things so does the ground when frozen. For as long as man has put some kind of structure up the frozen ground damages it. The use of this invention will minimize or eliminate the damage by creating a weak spot in the ground and ice and redirecting the energy of the frozen ground and ice. This would work to protect buildings landscaping beaches, and other property that would need protecting. Although in time different kinds of materials, and the shape of materials may change, the means of the invention would remain the same to establish a weak spot in the ground and ice and changing the energy of the moving ground and ice.
In order that the invention may be more fully understood, it will now be described by way of example, with reference to the accompanying drawing in which;
Turning now descriptively to the drawings, in which similar reference characters denote similar reference characters denote similar element throughout the several views, the figures illustrate the present invention. With regard to the reference numerals used, the following numbering is used throughout the various drawing figures:
1 is the mane body of the invention made of any type of material that can hold up to harsh use from frozen ground and water.
2 are the hoes for stabilizing the invention.
3 floats
4 poles/stake
5 deep water anchor
7 ground
8 uplifting frozen ground
9 frozen ice to shore
10 uplifting ice from deeper water
11 enhance stake
12 brace for enhance stake
13 a different shape of the mane body
14 a different shape of the mane body
DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENTThe following discussion describes in detail one embodiment of the invention (and several variations of that embodiment). This discussion should not be construed, however, as limiting the invention to those particular embodiment's practitioners skilled in the art will recognize numerous other embodiment's as well. For definition of the complete scope of the invention the reader is directed to appended claims.
Claims
1. The Apparatus to protect from Frozen Ground and Ice is used to protect your property from damage from frozen ground and ice that would expand and do damage to property
2. The apparatus of claim 1 can be used in the water off shorelines to prevent ice in the lake from damaging the shoreline or other property needing protection.
3. The apparatus of claim 2 is suspended off shore to create a weak brake line in the expanding ice causing it to push up and pile on the ice and not damage the shorelines.
4. The apparatus of claim 2. is suspended by the floats and stakes and other bracing that will hold the body of the invention in place till the ice forms.
- Also the apparatus in claim 4 can be suspended or held in place by the stakes and brackets not pictured in the drawings that would hold the body of the invention.
5. The apparatus of claim 2. can be used in deep water or off shore protection from shifting and moving ice.
6. The apparatus of claim 1. can be used in the ground by baring it in the ground at the high water mark allowing the ground on the lake side to push up thus protecting the shoreline.
7. The apparatus of claim 1. can be used in the ground and around to protect other things like buildings or other platforms that can be damage from expanding frozen ground.
8. The apparatus of claim 7. would be used around a building to protect its basement walls from frozen ground that would push in on the walls causing damage to it.
9. The apparatus of claim 7. could be used around floating slabs of a building or patio to keep frozen ground from damaging it.
10. The apparatus showing in FIG. 7 shows a drawing of a simple design that can be in place after the ice forms by cutting a slot in the ice with a chain saw than just slide the 1 main body in the slot and staking it down through the stake hole 2. This would leave just the top of the 1 mane body and the 3 float the only part of the invention seen above the ice. And when used on ground it would have the same exposure.
11. The apparatus to protect from Frozen Ground and Ice in claims 1. though 10. works by the main body of the invention placed in the ground or ice at a angle causing a weak spot for the frozen ground and ice allowing the ground and ice to move up when it expands to stop its damaging power.
12. The apparatus to protect from Frozen Ground and Ice of claims 1. through 10. explains the placement of the main body of the invention and how the main body is held in place whether in the ground or suspended in the water until it freezes or on frozen ice, and due to different materials change. As time goes on the support may change from vertical to horizontal to cross bracing, but the principal of the invention will remain the same where the main body causes a weak spot in the frozen ground and ice to prevent damage.
