BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

The subject matter disclosed herein relates to an undergarment and in particular to reusable underwear that does not need a waistband to stay in place. Underwear without a waistband eliminate unsightly lines that other types of underwear create. The present invention is a substantial improvement over related prior art patents.

Martz, in U.S. Pat. No. 8,336,121 B2 describes a disposable underwear for women with no waistband that use adhesives on the wearer's pants to stay in place. While these disposable underwear provide the desired result, many people consider them expensive and wasteful. The present invention is reusable and does not require adhesives to stay in place.

Franko, in U.S. Pat. No. 7,716,753 B2 and Martin, in U.S. Pat. No. 9,282,774 B2 describe an undergarment with a waistband and an open buttocks design that is more comfortable than “G-string” style underwear and eliminates unsightly “panty lines”. Clearly this prior art is irrelevant to the present invention because the design requires a waistband.

Accordingly, while existing undergarments are suitable for their intended purposes, the need for improvement remains, particularly in providing an undergarment that does not have a waistband, while is reusable and does not require adhesives.

BRIEF SUMMARY OF INVENTION

An undergarment is provided. The undergarment includes a flexible crotch panel and flexible leg bands. The crotch panel is coupled to the inner-leg portion of a left leg band and to the inner-leg portion of a right leg band.

The undergarment eliminates the need for a waistband to stay in place. The undergarment is reusable and does not require adhesives. Therefore, the present invention is a substantial improvement over the prior art.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE SEVERAL VIEWS OF THE DRAWING

The present invention can best be understood in connection with the accompanying drawings. It is noted that the invention is not limited to the precise embodiments shown in drawings, in which:

FIG. 1 is a perspective view of the waistless undergarment of the present invention being worn, where the wearer's body is see-through to enable a perspective of the undergarment about the wearer's upper legs;

FIG. 2 is a perspective view of the waistless undergarment of the present invention being worn, where the back side of the wearer is shown;

FIG. 3 is a perspective view of the waistless undergarment of the present invention being worn, where the front side of the wearer is shown; and

FIG. 4 is a top-down view of the waistless undergarment of the present invention.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

The undergarment 8 of the present invention is shown best in FIGS. 1-4 as including a flexible crotch panel 14 having a left portion 16 and a right portion 18. As shown in FIG. 1, the crotch panel 14 is positioned to extend at least partially between the wearer's legs when worn, being positioned generally adjacent to the wearer's genitalia. The crotch panel 14 would be constructed of a fabric material, such as cotton, silk, or another such comfortable yet durable material. The crotch panel 14 may also include an inner panel 20 mounted on the inside of the crotch panel 14, the inner panel 20 being constructed of a soft cotton or another such fabric material, the inner panel 20 being positioned generally adjacent to the wearer's genitalia. The crotch panel 14 would preferably have variable dimensions which would generally be determined by the sizes and preferences of the wearer, based on comfort and appearance considerations.

The undergarment 8 would also include a flexible left leg band 10 having an inner left leg portion 22 and an outer left leg portion 24, the inner left leg portion 22 coupled to the left portion 16 of the crotch panel; and a flexible right leg band 12 having an inner right leg portion 26 and an outer right leg portion 28, the inner right leg portion 26 coupled to the right portion 18 of the crotch panel. The left leg band 10 and right leg band 12 would be constructed from a fabric material which also includes elastic material therein. The left leg band 10 and right leg band 12 may also include decorative materials such as lace, patterns, or designs printed thereon, as per the various types of undergarments currently available on the market. In the preferred embodiment, the left leg band 10 and right leg band 12, as shown in FIG. 4, would have a circumference which would be determined by the size of the upper legs of the wearer of the present invention, although it is expected that the circumference of the left leg band 10 and right leg band 12 will be approximately fifteen to thirty inches.

When the undergarment 8 of the present invention is being worn by a person 64, the left leg band 10 and right leg band 12 would be sized, shaped and positioned to stay at the top of the wearer's left leg 60 and right leg 62 when worn, as shown in FIG. 3. As shown in FIG. 2, the left leg band 10 and right leg band 12 are positioned about the bottom of the wearer's buttocks. The left leg band 10 and right leg band 12 eliminate the need for a waistband to stay in said position of the person 64 wearing the undergarment 8. The significant advantages of the present invention include the elimination of the waistband which is required for proper use of other types of reusable underwear, the elimination of adhesives which are required for other types of disposable underwear, and the elimination of unsightly lines created by the waistband of other types of reusable underwear. It is therefore clear that the present invention provides a substantial improvement over other types of underwear found in the prior art.

The undergarment 8 of the present invention may be sized to be used for any gender and the claimed invention should not be limited as to a particular gender. In the case of a male undergarment, the crotch panel 14 may include additional material as when compared relative to a female embodiment.

It should be noted that numerous additions, modifications and substitutions may be made to the undergarment 8 of the present invention which fall within the intended broad scope of the above description. For example, the size, shape and construction materials used in connection with the various elements of the present invention may be modified or changed so long as the intended functional features are neither significantly degraded nor destroyed. This preferred embodiment therefore shows and describes the undergarment 8 which accomplishes at least all of its intended objectives.
